I'm not sure what the other two got but I'm 99% sure its just user error...

This thing is intended to power 125w through a cigarette outlet (you need your own cable).

Or, 500w Continuously when connected directly to the car battery and... wait for it... THE CAR IS ON!

If the car is not on and you draw 500w your car battery's voltage will temporarily drop below the minimum this inverter will allow (thus the fault light lights up, it beeps and stops inverting). Its a fail-safe to keep your battery from being discharged too far. Simply turning off the inverter will reset it but ideally you will learn to then turn the car on...

Great product to have in the vehicle when you need a quick outlet but you always got to have the car running and or a something always charging the battery that your pulling from other than that it works great!

This unit is heavy. It has a very noisy fan instead of a large heat sink. I wouldn't want to be in the same car with this unit running.
