I use this kit to charge deep cycle marine batteries that power an inverter. The inverter, in turn, is what powers room additions to my home and backup power outlets. I use it in conjunction with a grid tie inverter system that lowers my electricity usage. The two systems combined mean that I don't have to worry about A: power outages and B: high utility costs. But there are many other ways this system could be used.
