I was hoping to use this charger to charge the phone and an extra battery on my night-stand while I slept. It turns out that the battery in the phone can only be charged through the USB connector and the extra battery only charges through the wall socket charger. At least I do have a way to charge two batteries but I have no computer in the bedroom. Another thing is I bought a ~ $50 large battery w/large case back and they do not fit in this unit. That probably will not be a problem for most people though. The sync/backup to my computer (using the Blackberry software) works fine as long as I use one of my 2 regular size batteries and flat case back. The Amazon description of the unit's functionality should have been better.
