Belkin F8Z446ttP Apple iPhone Micro USB Charger with ChargeSync Cable

I bought this product to use USB-powered devices in my car, instead of going through bulky/near obsolete 12V cigar lighter power jack.

I am very happy with the USB adapter.

Pros are:

The small profile USB port is excellent. You will see why it is called 'micro'. It is so small that USB port seems as an integral part of car. However, the small profile may make it hard to pull out when necessary.

Build quality is good. So, it doesn't feel cheap.

It fits to the cigar lighter jack tight. Unlike some poorly designed accessories, once inserted into tthe lighter port, this USB port doesn't creep back out.

One star minus is because the iPod/iPhone charge/sync cable port is thicker than that of Apple genuine cable port. So, it doesn't fit through my iPhone case.

The charger itself seems to work just fine, charges my IPhone 3GS fast. However the included cable is horrible, terribly bad cable. Why?

1. Cable is way too stiff, not flexible. I don't see how this works well for any cable connected to your iPhone. It is ultimately going to put a lot of mechanical stress on your iPhone dock connector which WILL make it fail prematurely. If you don't have something to stick your iPhone in, your phone gets pushed around by the cable and either becomes disconnected, or knocks your phone onto the floor somewhere where you can't reach it.

2. The connector does not lock into the iPhone dock, meaning combined with the overly stiff cable, the cable often becomes disconnected defeating the whole point of having a charger in your car.

If you are interested in this product and have an extra USB to iPhone cable, or are willing to buy a better made cable, this product might makes some sense.

I personally do not like to reward companies that sucker customers into buying a poorly implemented and lazily designed product that, whether intended or not, takes advantage of consumers.

Perhaps they have fixed the cable issue, but I kind of doubt it.

This belkin charger is just what I was looking for. When I purchased a new iPod my old generic charger didn't work. I needed one that did. The reason I went for this one was the compact design. It sure is small! The included charring cable is well made and nice and long. Good stuff!

I ordered this product based on the images someone submitted of the F8Z446 BELKIN Micro charger in the OEM packaging, as the description reads. This is NOT the same product. What I received was a GENERIC product NOT MADE BY BELKIN. The packaging was for a different Belkin product--obviously reused--with a generic cable and charger inside. The numbers printed on the charger I received are F8Z445ea. This is the product number for the generic, $1 charger I could have bought anywhere. I have the real F8Z446 (purchased at an Apple store) and this is NOT it. I'm disappointed that Amazon is letting a seller get away with fake packaging. I was granted a full refund, which I will use towards a real OEM charger.
