Pro-Series GENSD7 7000 Peak Watt/5500 Running Watt Diesel Generator

I was very excited to get this Generator for my Cabin. Started out great then at exactly 20 hours the engine blew. Talking with the Vendor has been difficult, no resolution as yet. Could be stuck with a piece of junk. Read their limited warranty closely, appears there really isn't one.

I bought one of these for a backup to my old International Harvester (circa 1912) Diesel generator that powers my green houses during an outage. I have run, serviced, and applied portable generators since the 70's. This unit is well built, German designed, quiet, and if used correctly, should last many years. I see a few reviews where there were problems with the alternator brushes going bad. As an Engineer, and having taken my unit apart for inspection purposes, I would guarantee the person who had these problems did not earth ground their installation, as is required in any portable generator installation. In addition, it was probably overloaded. I load tested mine during a 10 hour break-in with 5500 watts of fluorescent lighting....it ran like a champ. I prefer diesel generators because the fuel is stable for years. If you have an oil burner, you can dump an additive into your Heating oil tank. You now have a plentiful fuel reserve if things go bad in a hurry.

Mine has run for a total of 100 hours and has had three oil changes. I decided to buy another one to back up my cattle barn.

Any machine in the wrong hands will fail. I find this unit a great buy and a great design.

I purchased my first Gensd7 Form Tractor supply company. It lasted 9 hrs running continuously. Before the brushes and AVR failed. Ordered new under warranty and they too failed after only 7 hrs. I returned the unit to TSC they ordered me a new unit two weeks later when it arrived It ran for exactly 6hr and eleven minutes before failing. Again the brushes and AVR I ordered them again under warranty they were not delivered for over a week. Then once installed they ran for exactly 7hrs and 34 minutes then they failed. Ordered new brushes this time with spares and PAID FOR NEXT DAY SHIPPING they were sent two day a day later so three days put it on saturday when UPS only delivers if paid for in advance.. So I have to wait three more days to get power back in my house... Now I used to have a Harbor Freight 3000 watt gen that I sold to help afford this that ran everything this unit did but cost more to operate because I had access to free fuel. Now I am with out a generator because they have to mail me a check for the 1300.00 I paid for this unit. So no power for the 2-4 weeks Thanks everybody.

our unit has had six breakdowns including a fire after only 120 hrs of use. bad breaker, bad AVR, stuck shut fuel solenoid, leaking fuel petcock, failed fuel line leading to a minor fire, and a bad battery. that said, each time it was repairable. These generators require frequent valve adjustments & oil changes. strongly recommend replacing fuel lines before first use & wiring in two amp meters to separately monitor both 120vac legs.
