Seidio Desktop Charging Cradle for use with HTC EVO 4G

Seidio Desktop Charging Cradle for use with HTC EVO 4GThis charger works with the HTC Evo, with or without a case.

This is a basic charger, just holds the phone in an upright position, and does not charge a spare battery. I actally like the fact that it doesn's have a spare battery slot, since it gives it a smaller footprint. Also, it does not include a cord you need to use the power cord that came with your phone (Or buy an extra..the Blackberry Micro USB cords that they sell on Amazon for a couple of dollars work just fine BlackBerry USB Cable Micro USB 1.0m (Black)).

The charger comes with 2 interchangable attachment plates. You use plate 1 if you have the Innocase II surface or Innocase extended. You use plate 1 and 2 together if you have a devie only with Innocel extended life battery installed. You don't use any plate if you have the innocase active.

My Evo has the Extended battery and the Innocase active case (modified with a hole cut out of the back for the battery)and I use the dock without any plate. The phone slips onto the dock pretty easily and seems very secure.

There is a green light on the back of the dock to show that it has power. It does charge and sync your phone. It has that soft touch look and feel, just like the Innocase cases. There are 2 rubbery type feet on the bottom so the dock does not slide around on the table.

Just got this charger based on other reviews that said it works with the phone in its case. Not so much for the OtterBox Commuter Series HTC EVO 4G case, which has a rubber cable-connector cover at the base which makes it difficult to sit the phone in the cradle. You _can_ get the phone into the cradle if you remove both plastic shims, then pull the cable cover out of the way with one hand while you jiggle the phone around trying to get it seated correctly. Too bad, because the charger is nice and solid, and holds the phone at a good viewing angle. I would have loved to use it, but I like the OtterBox case more.

This item sells for $35 on other sites and Amazon has it for $28 shipped. It works very well and allows me to keep my Seidio Innocase II on my Evo while other docks don't.

The only thing I don't care for (but isn't a deal breaker) is the phone tends to wobble from left to right due to the USB port being raised to allow for the optional plate for those without cases. The phone doesn't really wobble on its own, only when you touch/move the phone. I understand the reason behind it and can't expect them to make different models of the dock for different phone configurations when they can just make one dock and just use removable plates to suit everyone's needs.

I would love to see Seidio come out with this same dock with both a USB port and HDMI connection. That would be great considering the stock HTC/Sprint one doesn't "play nice" with cases. It's really too bad too, considering all we are trying to do is protect our investment (phone) from damage by using a case.

I ordered 4 of these. My wife and I each have one at home and the other at work. Very pleased and suggested it to everyone I know that has an Evo.

Best charging cradle ever, The fact that you don't have to remove your case to charge the phone is what sold me. I have had no other issues and I love this charger.

I purchased this charging cradle when I got the extended battery (Seidio Innocell 3500 mAh Extended-Life Battery for HTC EVO 4G (Black))for my new HTC EVO 4G. I have been very pleased with it thus far -it fits my phone even when it has the extended battery install AND a silicone case (this one: Laza Sprint HTC Evo 4G Extended Battery Silicone Case Black). The cradle comes with attachments to adjust the size of the docking slot. In order to fit my phone with all of the extra bulk from the battery and case I just took out all of the attachments. The phone fits snugly, but it's not a struggle to get it in there. At times, I do worry about breaking the dock if I don't line up the phone correctly and try to force it in, so it can be challenging to put it in its dock in a dark room (I have it on my nightstand). If Amazon lowers the price on the cradle again (I got it on sale for slightly less), I'd buy another one for my office -it's a good value, but a second one would be a luxury.

Also, to echo previous reviews, make sure to have a USB Charging Cord handy as it does not come with one.
