I bought this as a charger/sync cradle for office use. Shortly thereafter my BB got finicky about charging. The plug had to be perfectly still in just the right position or it would not charge.The first time I figured it was a fluke--normal wear and tear on the Blackberry--so I lived with it for a couple of months. Eventually it got to the point that it wouldn't connect at all.
I replaced it with a brand new BB and charged it at home with the BB AC adapter. I was excited that it worked properly (no more wiggling it or setting something on the plug to hold it in place).
Two days later I used this sync cradle/charger and the whole problem returned. Verizon asked me to bring in all of my chargers and cables so they could check them and see if one of them was causing the problem. Sure enough THIS PRODUCT was the culprit. The contacts inside the mini-usb connector stick up a bit causing it to bend the prongs in the Blackberry.
A must for the Blackberry owner. Great at the bedside if on-call at night. Easy to plug in your BB and charge up a 2nd battery at the same time. one problemif the 8830 is pushed sideways while docked the side button is pressed, so it's not perfect
