I have found these units to be excellent for the purposes I need, with the extended range I am able to talk to my co-worker from a different site/location in town. They are perfect for what I need but I do have one minor issue with them, there is a delay in when you PTT and when the transmission actually begins, about a second or so.

Bought these for my 7 yr old grandson for Christmas ... the toy walkie talkies are so disappointing .. but these are great! He carries his all over the neighborhood and talks with his friends.

We bought these for our children to have for Christmas instead of purchasing "toy" two-way radios. We figured they would play and then tire of using them and we would at least have a good set to have for our own personal use. The kids have not tired of playing yet but these are tough, well-made, clear and long range radios. I have no idea if the 22 mile estimate will work in the rolling hills around our home but it definitely caries long enough to use while out on hikes. Many hikes are in and around streams so the water resistant characteristic is a big plus. Happy.

The Uniden GMR2238 Units work well around our grounds but you will never get the 22 mile range they offer unless you are in a desert or on open calm water. They work well in small buildings and areas about 1/4 of a mile.

The uniden 2 way radios were purchased as a gift for my grandson. He took them fishing recently on our property and was thrilled to be able to share his successful fishing with me from such a distance.
