I mainly bought this item so I could charge my iPhone 3GS while in the car. Since I noticed it had the battery included, I thought that could be a nice bonus. As far as being a charger for the car, I would give it 5 stars. The battery is okay, but not great. I can get about a 20% charge off the fully charged battery. I've only used the wall charger portion a couple of times but it appears to work well also.

I spend a lot of time on an island that gets frequent power outages. So I keep the charger in the car. When the phone's power reaches about 20%, I plug the removable plug in battery into the phone and it will transfer about 30% extra. What I love about this is that I don't have to remember to plug my phone in when I get in the car, and I can take that little charger with me when I leave the car. I never use the wall charger. But I was unable to buy the car charger separately. This is the second one I've purchased. The first one is still in use after 4 years.
