As someone who has worked on and used commercial Motorola radio equipment, I do have a bias for Motorola. Granted these FRS radios are nowhere near the quality and durability of those heavy duty higher power commercial units, but for the price you pay, they perform as expected. The MR350 has all the features one would want for emergency or other communication on most outdoor activity. Although the radio did not have the heavy duty solid feel of a competitor I tried recently, it did quite well on a recent rainy day hike. I have tried them out and found they do not go very far. I need to talk to a vehicle in front or rear about 1 or two miles away.They just make it a mile but not more than that. I need to talk to the leader of a group of RVs.
