bought for use under motorcycle jacket. i ordered the classic model (similarly reviewed) through amazon, but i was sent the cypress model first by mistake. helmet city was very gracious and prompt in correcting order. the cypress is a pretty color fairly true to shown, had a slight "hidden" pattern on a bit more slick material which i liked especially for rain situations, but i didn't care for the black ?poly/lycra? sides as i thought it may allow wind to pass thru, or not good if ever caught in the rain; if it were the same kind of material as turquoise, i would have chosen this jacket for it's dual color and shaping from it's look. it lacked a thumb hole on neoprene cuff that the classic had, though that wasn't important to me. the hearty YKK? zipper also included a dual bottom zip feature which i love/prefer, and a little covering flap at top. the jacket itself is well made. battery connects in left pocket, stores in velcro pocket in pocket. the 3 heating areas are small (@ 3"x4") 1 over each side of breastbone, and 1 over top/mid of back. the jacket does produce good heat. i put on a tank top, t-shirt, and turtleneck tee and could still feel heat but significantly less with each layer. add a sweater and you could barely feel the warmth, even with a heavy jacket over this one. in order to feel heat best, wear with only a single light layer or two, and order smallest size possible as the tighter and closer fitting the better you'll feel heat. i'm petite 5'2", 114#, size 4/6 and ordered this in medium for layering, but reordered the classic in small which fit better (both jackets seem to be cut the same,) and XS would have likely fit too for a light layer but i hate "too" tight clothes. the heat only lasts an hour or two on 100%, a little longer on each lower setting of 75, 50 & 25%. i bought a back up battery and charger too. battery holds charge well just sitting there for days.
all in all though i am exchanging it for the warming shirt in men's size XS or XXS as the base layer heat will work much better for my needs because i sometimes need lots of layers on the motorcycle in winter, and still hoping this may cut a few out so i don't feel like the lil kid on a christmas story or the michelin man! or at least keep me from freezing at 30 degrees (plus the extreme wind chill) again...
the 3 star rating is because of my personal needs; it is a nice product.
