I needed something to charge my iPhone 3g at work because we're not allowed to plug in any USB devices into our computers. I thought I'd give this a try.
The red light shows the plug is active and my iPhone showed the charging indicator.....for about five minutes. Now my phone does absolutely nothing when I plug it in, even though the red light indicator on the plug is active. I've tried everything to get this to work again without any luck.
Waste of money, you'd be better off finding something different.
I can't speak for the quality of this item since I received a completely wrong product from Amazon, which is fulling this item for the vendor (AccessoryWizard). The product label on this had the right name and model number, but what I ended up receiving was a Apple iPod/iPhone to RCA-style A/V connector. I paid extra to get this delivered by Amazon in two days, and all I got for it was grief and more delay. I don't whose fault it is ultimately, but I certainly won't be ordering from this vendor again. If you're thinking of doing the same as I did, DON'T!

The retractable phone charger from SmackTom failed to charge the iPhone. The light indicated it was charging but once unplugged, the phone was not charged. The product was inexpensive, but you definitely get what you paid for!
