Schumacher 5216A-PE Fully Automatic 2 and 10 Amp Charger with 50 Amp Emergency Engine Start

This is the second Schumacher charger I own, the first quit after very little use. I purchased this as a replacement. I used the jumpstart feature twice, that stopped working after the second use. The charger is spotty, sometimes it works, most often it tells me that the battery is 100% charged while in fact it does not have enough power to start the engine it has done this with several batteries. Often I have to try several times before it finally starts charging. A waste of money, I am looking for another brand.

I've had mine for 6 years now. Used if for atv, motorcycle, mower, car, deep cycle boat, and RV batteries. Has worked flawlessly every single time! Actually charging a motorcycle battery right now with it! Two years ago while on an RV trip I didn't have this charger with me and needed one so I bought the newest latest greatest "Digital charger" from the same manufacture. It was twice the price of this unit and failed to charge the two RV batteries at all. Took it home and later tried it to top off a motorcycle battery that it actually destroyed! Needles to say that charger is in a land fill, and this one is still happily in service.

I have owned this charger for over 10 years, originally just used it to charge my boat battery several times during the winter months. Now I have an older garden tractor that has to have a boost all the time as the starter/charger does not work correctly. I have abused the 50 amp boost starting the tractor to the point the unit was smoking on more than one occasion and this unit keeps coming back for more. If this one quits it will not owe me anything and I will replace it with the same model.
