Actually, this tender is made by Honda, not Yamaha.The package in this listing includes a variety of connects for the battery terminals. You can switch out the connects so that you can use this with just the terminal clamps, or, in my case, fastening the o ring connectors directly to the battery terminals for a permanent installation.
I've used this tender for over five years.
In that time, I have had it almost permanently hooked up to my tractor battery, and it has performed flawlessly the entire time.
This was designed for maintaining marine batteries, so, the waterproof feature means I can leave it outside, unprotected, on the tractor.
I wired it permanently to the battery terminals so that all I have to do is plug it in.
If I really deplete the battery on the tractor (heavy starting in cold weather and heavy use of lights on the tractor) it will take about a day or day and a half to charge it back up.
If I am just using a normal warm weather start on the tractor battery, it only takes about a half an hour, at .8 Amps, to recharge the battery.
The unit is fairly compact, and, even with long cords, tucks up neatly under the tractor seat.
In all, given its reliability, quality, waterproof case, and, the requirement for almost zero maintenance, this tender is the best bargain.
