I tested this with a phone doing GPS navigation, something that really ran the battery down with another 12V adapter/charger attached Using this adapter, the phone charged, albeit slowly, with navigation on.The picture showed a 700 mA output, but the unit I received was rated at 1.0 A (1000mA). I purchased an extra microUSB cable so that I could insert an ammeter and test the current. It output 490 mA, the same as the AC charger that came with the phone, and very close to the USB standard. The adapter used 5.6 mA from the 12V source with no load.
No frills is the answer. Yes, the product isn't made of grade AAA plastic but does that really matter? It is so small it remains almost completely hidden in your car power plug.
Simply put, you cannot find a charger at a better price. You can pay 10x more for the same functionality and shinier plastic, but this works just as well.this item is nice and compact for charging in the car. It works with any product that can be charged with a usb. All you need is the usb cord for your device with this charger
