The Wizbang Battery Desulfator arrived quickly. Attaching it to my car battery was a simple procedure and immediately the unit began its high pitched buzz which is typical for this type of unit. I used a zip tie to secure the desulfator to the carrying strap of the battery. Although the battery was already in fair condition, I suspect there was some sulfation on the plates from normal use. Since the technology is proven, I thought I would give it a try to maximize the life of my car battery. The unit does put a small but negligible drain on the battery (12.78V before installation, 12.55V 24 hours after installation with no driving). This product works very well for it's intended purpose and it's price can't be beat.This unit emits a slight high pitched whine when it is working. If you plan on being around it while it is functioning for a prolonged length of time, it may become irritating. This unit is great to use away from work or living areas, in an industrial setting or under the car hood. On the up side, as the sulfates are removed from the battery the sound is reduced, which serves as a good indicator of it's progress.
I purchased it to use on office and entertainment center UPS batteries, but was disappointed by the sound, so I use it on storage batteries in my basement instead.
Also, be aware that this unit uses a minute amount of the batteries power to do it's work. Unless you are constantly charging the batteries such as driving you vehicle every day, or trickle charging unused batteries, this unit will eventually discharge the battery.I bought a number of these units and installed them on numerous vehicles in order to develop a better opinion of its operation. After a number of months of use, all the units created a battery drain that outweighed the benefits of desulfation. The batteries began with a full charge as verified by a CCA digital tester. For a low usage recreational vehicle, after 2 weeks of non-daily use, the battery required an external charger before starting the vehicle. Battery recovery did not occur as tested by the CCA digital tester on any vehicle installed. One of these units completely failed as the green LED does not light and the high pitched audible from the unit ceases to be present. For this vehicle, a 120V powered external desulfator was used for CCA recovery. When contacting the vendor, they commented that there was a very small drainage from the battery to run this unit, but not enough to drain it to a point where the battery would be significantly affected. As observed, this statement is false. The company refused to support their units because they claimed it was outside their 30 day warranty. My recommendation is to stay away from this unit. Rather, purchase a unit that shuts off when the vehicle is not running and only runs while the vehicle's alternator runs. Also, look for a company that stands behind their unit no less than 5 years, preferably lifetime guarantee. I hope this review helps the average consumer.
