I did quite a bit of reading of the many reviews of this type of product. I wanted a quality unit and I finally selected this one. I really liked the fact that it has a replaceable auto fuse. I felt that if the company went to the expense of adding that feature then it may well be a safe (won't burn up) and dependable device. It fits snugly in the outlet so it will stay put while driving. It folds to take up less room in a glove box when not in use. The indicator light clearly shows that proper contact is made, yet is not distracting. The folding feature gives you some choice on how to ''angle'' the device in the car. Finally it will power and charge an iPad 3. Delivery was quick and packaging was good. I plan on ordering additional ones for other vehicles. I hope this review helps others who are considering an outlet adapter.

I am rating this product 3 stars. My experience with this product was not one of disappointment but from an engineering or design aspect, one where a good product could be a great product, except for one small detail. I would recommend this product to others with one caveat: Before you use the product, unscrew the nose cap (pointed end) off of the plug, add some super glue to the threaded portion and re-attach the nose. Let it cure for a bit before you ever insert it into your car outlet jack. I am an engineer and I notice things from an engineering perspective. This product failed the first time I used it. It is mostly well designed and I love the fact that it is fused to protect your car's electrical system from an overload and I also liked the locking feature in the plug whereby you can lock the angle of the plug in a certain position. All of that works well. The one thing that I would consider a design flaw is the spring pushing the positive electrode outward is way too strong. The threads for the tip are very fine and the spring ( at least in my experience) causes the nose portion to strip out of the threads and in my case, break off the threaded portion, rendering the device useless. Oh, I have ordered another one, but next time I'll make this one modification. I hope the manufacturer takes note of this flaw and redesigns with a less aggressive spring. Then this might be a 4-star product.

So far, so good...it works like a champ out of the box. I haven't loaded up all 4 ports yet, but it handles the two cigarette-type plugs fine. Nice blue LED lets you know it's working, and I like having the circuit breaker there to protect my devices in case of a surge. The swivel adapter has a lot of intermediate settings the picture doesn't show, so you can position it where you like. I didn't give it 5 stars because it's just a little bulky and I wish the plug was in the middle instead of on the side.

These are great UHF Radios. Downside it is not 5 watts it is 3 watts. Real range is 1 to 2 miles in an urban setting. In open country it would do 3-5 miles. But the plus side is these will do GMRS, go get your GMRS license. ($80 for a family for 5 years)

Their are towers/repeaters that make your little radio talk any where from 15 to 45 miles.

These have a kenwood feel to them, very solid & light weight. For less than $25 a radio, you can not go wrong with these.

Not that we want a radio to be lost or broken. Things happen sometimes, why be out $500 on an HT that you can replace for $25.

These will be used with a repeater at a church campground. We need a lot of radios for very little. Buy the usb programming cable.

All Power America APG3004D 1,200-Watt 2-Stroke Gas Powered Portable Generator

This unit requires user mechanical and electrical skills to place it in an acceptable operating condition. It should not used 'as is' out of the box to provide power or charge batteries. The unit could damage connected AC devices and batteries due to poor or non existent quality control and assembly by the manufacturer. If you are looking for a 'start and go' generator then avoid this unit. If you don't mind some cleaning, adjustment, improving, modification, disassembly and reassembly then you can consider this unit worthy of your skills for a decent sale price. I inspected the unit for obvious mechanical problems and noted the 'room for improvement' issues before starting it. I used a break-in oil to gas mixture of 30:1 for the 2 stroke engine. The engine started easily on the third pull but was running rough and erratically after 15 minutes of operation. Disassembly of the carburetor revealed manufacturing debris and metal particles inside the passages, carburetor cleaner and compressed air solved those issues. Spark plug inspection showed fouling already, cleaned the plug and tested several more times, each time the plug fouled after running for 20 minutes or more. Replaced the plug with a Champion RN9YC (couldn't find a non-resistor plug) and the fouling issue stopped. So, cheap quality factory spark plug no good! Engine starts on the first pull now (after the choke pull) and runs smoothly. There is no screw adjustment on the carburetor for fuel/air mixture, an issue for rich air/fuel mixture fouling and piston carbonization if you live at high altitude (as I do). Put that on the to-do list to install a metering screw on the carburetor. Note: that spring loaded screw at the side and bottom of the carburetor is a bowl drain (grin :-p ). I tested the generator voltage outputs after getting the engine to run well and found 150 volts AC/ 30 volts DC, bad news for connected devices and batteries. The governor adjustment was set at 'good enough' allowing the engine to overspeed resulting in higher generator head voltage output. Hmmm, a test of patience at this point so far with this unit. I had to try different springs at various locations with the factory set holes on the governor arm to get good voltage output and engine RPM. The factory wiring routing and bundling for the generator head, spark plug, magneto, switches and voltage outlets was a joke, I dont think the wiring would have lasted for too long before shorting to the metallic parts from vibration and causing a disastrous problem. I installed grommets at the generator head case wiring hole (don't know or understand what the thinking was here, just a matter of time before the wires short to the case) and magneto wiring case hole, bundled and secured all the wires in a flexible sheath to prevent abrasion. The carburetor cover and air cleaner assembly is also noteworthy for having no screw stops to prevent overtightening and cracking the plastic, so I installed special oval head type inverted washers to prevent overtightening and provide plastic stress relief around the cover screw holes. The muffler was installed off center on the exhaust port due to bad welding positioning of the attachment bracket, fixed all that and stopped an intermittent exhaust leak and oil drip. Oh yes, I think a heat shield between the muffler and the gas tank would be good also (To-do list). Enough you say? Fortunately I have lots of patience and enjoy this type of work making a piece of equipment operate better than it came from the factory. The only thing I really dislike about this unit is having to remove and reinstall the gas tank constantly to get to anything underneath that needs servicing. I hope this review gives you some good insight about this unit.

Received this item fine, the All Power America APG3004D 1,200 watt 2 stroke gas powered generator. I could not start this, husband had a lot of trouble getting it to start. Once it started it ran very rough, we let it run for a time and tried to turn on a simple fan would not start. Husband is very good with mechanics and turned it off, looked it over and gave it another try. Fan still would not run. Called the company All-Power and they said I could return it no problem. I had to send an email with proof of purchase. First email I sent was not good enough, the proof had to be an attachment not a copy. Resent email and got confirmation it was ok that I would get a return authorization within 8-10 business days. Day eight I called and the rep was rude and told me that since I didn't purchase directly through them (bought at Amazon) that it would take however long it took, she repeated 8-10 business days. Day 11, still no response and called, again I had to leave a message 3 days later and I still have not received ANY communications from AP. I have turned this over to the BBB and Amazon to help. First of all there are not a lot of choices when it comes to docks for the Galaxy S3. The Verizon MULTI MEDIA dock that I had purchased for my Original Droid was the best. You dropped your phone in on it's side and it connected nicely to the power plug without any fuss. Also when you put your Droid into the dock it automatically went into a special multi media mode. It was very stable and didn't move when you touched your phone to control it's various functions. All of the docks that I've seen for the S3 only plug into the phone from the bottom. This dock is no different. One plus with this dock is the removable rubber insert in its base. If your S3 does not have a case the rubber insert improves the fit and keeps your S3 from wiggling around. If you do have a case such as the Elago slim case pull the insert out and you can now drop your phone into the dock case and all. This is a big plus. I almost gave it a fourth star for this. However, as I said before you set the phone into the dock length wise so you have a lot of phone sticking up above the base. This is fine until you start trying to control your phone. The base is too short and the phone too top heavy. You must be careful, especially if you're trying to push the hard key for the home screen. It's almost takes two hands. The other issue with this dock is that you need to be a bit careful to seat your phone properly so that the power plug engages. It is possible to sit your phone into the base and not have it plugged in. Then you're waking up the next morning with a dead phone. For the price this is an OK dock for charging only. The quality of the materials is very good and it performs its basic function well. Beyond that don't expect too much.

Goal Zero 11406 Guide 10 Plus Silver Battery Pack

Don't try charging a Kindle 3 with this battery pack. I connected it to my Kindle and shortly there was smoke from the Guide 10. It's dead now. There should be some current limiting built into the unit (other than just burning up). Energizer 2500 mah nickel metal hydride batteries used.

Later that same day: Goal Zero offered a free replacement when I contacted them about getting the unit repaired. Hard to beat that kind of customer service.

I find it difficult to underhand why this unit is an add on item. This is a more versatile unit due to the up to 1.0 amp ability.

I have used it just a little so far to verify the ability to charge the high drain iPad.

Overall a solid system and while I don't like having to buy two separate chargers, I am glad for the ability to recharge 8 batteries at once with the Nomad 7.

I bought this as a package with their Solar Panel and the Guide 10 Plus. I liked the idea of having a battery charger, coupled with a solar panel, that could be used to charge small electronics. My first attempt to use this was on my Iphone 5 with the pin adapter that lets you use an older charging cable. This immediately fried it. I should have learned my lesson there, but I really wanted this to work thinking it was the adapter for my phone. Later that day I plugged my Kindle Fire into the Guide 10 and fried my Kindle. I think by Trial and Error we can determine that this is a great battery charger but is not suited for much else although Goal Zero claims it is. I contacted customer support on this issue. They sent me a really nice note saying that this should not happen but pretty much to have a nice day. Please don't buy this to charge anything other than batteries. I have numerous chargers for small electronics that have worked flawless. This isn't one of them. Unfortunate. Their Solar panels are quite good, their battery packs....eh. My one star is based on them advertising this won't cook small electronics and their almost moronic mail to me not understanding they may have a faulty component and they should replace it. I am still working on getting a reply to my mail back to them. Thus far after three days, nothing.

I purchased a kit at my local Costco during a Goal Zero road show back in March that included the Nomad 7 solar panel, the Guide 10+ along with several of the cables etc that are normally sold separately. So far everything has worked great except for the Guide 10+. They claim that the Guide 10+ will charge the average cell phone 3 times, I have an HTC EVO with the standard battery and since it is a smart phone I knew that I would get fewer charges. I was expecting to get at least 2 but my experience has been not even one full charge before the AA batteries are depleted. This might be acceptable except for one glaring omission in its design by Goal Zero. I do not know if they just did not think about it or wanted to save a penny on its manufacture but it does not have a blocking diode in its circuit. What does this mean? well a blocking diode prevents what ever you are charging from discharging back into the Guide 10 batteries when they become depleted. I was not paying close attention to charging my cell phone and when I looked at it the battery was indicating only a 50% charge when a few minutes earlier it was around 90% charged. When the AA batteries became depleted the cell battery then tried to charge the AA batteries back up because of the Guide 10 not having a blocking diode. This is at least for me unacceptable and a very poor design!

LG Decoy VX8610 Cell Phone Car Charger

I ordered this charger because I make trips along the east coast and my LG Decoy's battery runs at about 3 hours talk time now. So, I wanted to get something cheap without a long cord, and this seemed like the best/cheapest option. I ordered it, received it pretty quickly and immediately put it into good use. It worked great, charged my Decoy quickly and efficiently.

But then one day (about a month later), it just seemed to die. I thought it was just the cigarette (AC) socket so I tried with my secondary socket. It ended up blowing up the fuses for each socket, which I needed to get replaced. Be warned, if this thing malfunctions, be ready to pay for it.

I love this charger! It works awesome, and is definitely way less than going to the dealer. The only thing that I do not like is that the coil is a little short so that I can't really talk on the phone without pulling out of the socket. Just a minor inconvenience and nothing I would return it for!

I've gone through many cell phones and chargers in the past, I have to admit that I've been disappointed with the "mark-up" of vendor sold components (yeah, they are wrapped pretty but cost about $30). On my last few phones, I've selected the aftermarket version of the car chargers. They do just as well and if they get caught in the mechanics of the car seat (it can happen), you're only out a couple of dollars. Much nicer on the wallet and does the same job!

I have owned both the Motostance MS1000 Battery Charger and the Deltran Battery Tender Junior. I much prefer the Motostance. The battery chargers are very similar in function, but the Motostance is an incredibly light 0.3 lbs, while the Deltran is a hefty 1.8 lbs. Both chargers supply 750ma at 12v so they should take about the same time to charge a battery. Both chargers have indicator lights to show that the connected battery is charging or fully charged. Both chargers come with an appropriate set of connectors and cables. Both chargers are the "power brick" style, but the Deltran weighs about as much as a brick, while the Motostance is feather-light.

Why is the Motostance so light when it does the same thing as the Deltran? I did not crack open the bricks to examine the internals, but, as an Electrical Engineer who has designed his share of AC to DC power supplies, I am sure the Motostance contains a modern high efficiency switching power supply, while the Deltran contains old style analog circucitry with a big heavy iron transformer. The Motostance is likely a modern high tech design, while the Deltran is 1970s tech.

I know I may sound like a weight bigot here, but I simply do not want to deal with a 2 lb brick if I do not have to. I don't want to carry it around. I don't want it hanging from my AC sockets. I don't want to slip out out of my hand and dent the hood of my car, or bust my tail light. So, I like the Motostance. YMMV.

I purchased this charger to charge the battery on my lawn tractor, that's all (although this will work for all of my vehicles too)! I didn't want a portable unit to jumpstart a vehicle or charge other accessories (this is just a vehicle batter charger like the box says). This charger is very simple to use with a one-touch button interface to get things going. I don't know anything about charging batteries or jumping vehicles but I was able to set this up and start charging in about 1 minute.

The included instructions are easy to follow and the charger is ready to go right out of the box. Connect the terminals per the instructions for what you are charging; plug the charger into a standard wall outlet (check for fault light indicating an incorrect connection) then press the one and only button to toggle to the desired amp level (explained in the instructions).

The amp levels are easy to see so selecting the correct one is easy to do. This charger is also fully automatic and will properly charge the battery on it's own at it's own pace for best performance and battery safety. However, if the battery is fully discharged, the units automated protection feature will give a fault status and refuse to charge it until you use some other method to force a partial charge on the battery.

I charged a dead car battery using the VEC1086BBD. When used correctly this unit revived a battery that had been dead for a year after a 1.5 hour charge.

READ THIS IS YOU'VE HAD PROBLEMS CHARGING A CAR BATTERY W/ VEC1086BBD:

-Once you have attached the leads to the battery with the proper polarity and plugged the charger into an AC source, the charger will make a humming noise, but it is NOT charging yet.

-Activate the unit by depressing the button (there's only one button) and repeat to cycle through the 6/4/2 amp settings. If it goes into fault

Press the button again repeatedly if needed until it gets out of fault mode. Press firmly and deliberately!

Additional button presses will cycle to your desired current setting (6A or 4A).

The GREEN LED must be lit or the device is not charging! This may all sound obvious but it was a REAL PAIN and a GIANT waste of time to figure this out.

Warning: **If you rapidly and repeatedly press this button you may cause the circuit breaker in your house to shut off power in your home. Not a big deal though. Just go reset the house breakers.

One more thing I noticed:

After you set to 6A/4A/2A, observe the unit for about 30 seconds until it has stabilized. Check on it periodically thereafter. This is because the unit drifts sometimes into fault mode--by itself.

When I first opened the box it looked like a toy, being very small. But I used it to recharge my 2 deep cycle batteries for my RV and it gets the job done just fine. There is some fan noise but that doesn't bother me. I would recommend this product and by the way the warranty was even longer than was stated on the Amazon page.

I stored one of my vehicles over the winter and needed a battery charger to juice the life back into it. At first I was looking at a jump starter but what I really need was a simple battery charger. This little guy did its job with no problems. If I did have one gripe about this, it was that it took about 12 hours for it to charge. The higher output/amp chargers can charge faster but I wasn't in a rush to get my car going. All I needed was to charge it overnight and its done. Theres no need to buy a replacement battery again! Unless its really old..

Maybe I will change my rating on this but it seems to be a good product but the packaging was too big for just a charger and it cost me 3 times the cost of the charger to clear it in my country

I was THRILLED with this charger when it arrived. The color is a great bright pink, and the long length is so convenient. It did not charge my phone (3G) as quickly as my Apple charger, but it still charged it at a decent rate. However, I am using past tense because it QUIT WORKING. After I owned it about a month (just over 30 days for the replacement period from Amazon), it just all of a sudden stopped charging. When I plug it into a phone, it does not respond. I've tried it with 3 phones (two 3Gs and one iPhone 4G) since it stopped working, and it will not come back. I kept it plugged in 24/7, and I just plugged my phone into it at night while I slept. I did not move it much to twist the wires or anything...one night it just simply didn't charge.

I bought this to use in a rental car in Italy. The electrical connection in the rental car was not on the dashboard but inbetween the passenger and driver's seats. The cord was too short to work. It would unwind-stretch to make the connection to the GPS on the windshield but the tension was so tight that the GPS was pulled off of the windshield. The cord was worthless during the entire trip.

I bought this generator several months ago on a whim at Cost U Less in St. Croix where I live. I figure that if a Hurricane hit us it may be useful to have backup power. This proved to be one of the best purchases I ever made.

On Wednesday night into early Thursday we got hit with Hurricane Omar, a Category 3 storm. After the storm we had no power. My basement apartment that is occupied by a tenant was flooded. I fired up this little 2 stroke generator and plugged my wet vac into it. It worked great, it could handle the load the 3HP wet vac put on it (this is only a 2HP generator, we gained an entire horse :)). Within an hour and a half her apartment was cleaned up pretty good.

That night we still had no power. I was able to power up my 47" LCD TV, Satellite Box, DSL modem, and Linksys router off of it. I got about 6 hours with this load on 1 gallon of oil/fuel mixture....not bad. The next night we still had no power so my wife added her laptop to this load and got about 5 hours on a gallon of fuel.

Now it would not power my refrigerator or my water pumps from the Cistern which was a bit disappointing. The startup load of the fridge was just too great. Also, like all 2 stroke motor's, starting it can be a pain...when you let gas sit in it for a while the mixture gets a little oil heavy...adding a small amount of gas and "shaking" it seems to get it started again. You will have to yank the cord a few times which is challenging for my wife. It also is loud (as all 2 stroke motor's tend to be).

For the $130 I paid for this I got my money's worth. Just being able to get online and watch my Satellite TV after the storm made life post-Omar much easier. I am very glad I bought this product. It's not a solution to all your power problems but in a pinch such as the one I was in it has worked out great.

Purchase first one, came damaged during shipping and doesn't work. I called Amazon and they shipped out second one and I have to pull it like 20 times just to start it up! When it FINALLY does work, it seems like it is going to stop again It just keeps stalling. Only works for like 15 minutes and then just stops again. In the end, I had to call the manufacturer who promised me that they will refund my purchase. As of this date, I have still not received my refund.

As with buying anything made in china, you take a risk on whether or not it will be quality. Of course, someone has to take these risks to let others know what to expect.

What you get when you buy this is, a 800 watt continuous 2 stroke generator. Nothing else in this description can you take to heart, its almost all lies(china).

First of all, you can make this as quiet as a $2000 honda gen for about $40, if you want to put some time in by checking things, fixing a few things(not that they were broke, more of piece of mind) If you dont want to do any of that, stop here, dont buy this, go spend thousands on a little honda, and be done with it. If you have some skills, and patience, continue reading.

-You must first remember mix gas + oil with this, or it will die quickly.

-You must then remember to start a little rich(more oil than needed) to seat the mechanical parts in. Id run a tank of gas(rich) with no load thru it to get the engine and electric motor broke in.

-If you have trouble starting it...make sure the fuel line is turned on...really..thats probably %90 of people who complain, or they used old gas or didnt mix it properly.

-Then(since it is made in CHINA) I would do a quick once over on all fasteners, and wires, I would recommend adding some auto wire tubing to the wires under the gas tank, for added longevity against chaffing.

-This little buggar is LOUD, Specs (from CHINA) say 65 db, well let me tell you, that would have to be(heres the catch, 65 db from HOW FAR AWAY? who knows, its china) 100 feet(ok not THAT much) or so away for it to be reading those levels. I read 100-130 db right next to the unit, and 100-110 about 10 feet away, non exhaust side. Very loud, can cause hearing loss actually at close distances, luckily about %30 can be reduced by simply making an ingenuous muffler out of a spray paint can...im not going to explain how to do this, simply look at the picture...figure it out, its not that hard, take a can, poke some holes in it, stuff a steel tube half way through, stuff with fiber glass, shove it off the stock muffler exit. BAM, expect 70-80 db after that.

-Next step to taking this little turd to honda specs (50-60 db) is making a 4(yes 4...no front) sided box, and putting a few office building acoustic ceiling tiles in, or acoustic foam if you can find some. I assume you can understand how to make a box, with one side missing and no bottom yes? Its not that hard, glue the tiles on, make sure the box is much bigger (read ~6 inches on all SIDES, not top) to allow for air flow.

Put the spraycan muffler on, start er up, I add a small fan behind the unit, that will be in the box with it to help cool it, as a downside of anything that absorbs sound is it usually is very insulating.

So put the fan behind it, off to the side, cover er up, aim the exhaust away from you, walk 10 feet away, and PRESTO, 60 db ratings, or close to HONDA specs...

Can be done in one day, so is $1800 in savings worth one day of project work to you? If no, buy a honda. If yes, well get this made in china sucker, and put a little effort into your savings.

I have the Champion version of this generator. I bought mine at Cabelas for $100. It required starting fluid when I first bought it because I used it so infrequently and it would smoke after I started it. After 3 years of owning it I bought a travel trailer with a small 5000 btu AC. I have used it many times to run the AC and a few accessories. It does a good job. After actually running for a few hours and getting broken in, it now starts on the first or second pull, actually gets more quiet under load, and I can keep 700-800 watts consistently powered. I only gave 4 stars because it was hard to start before the break in was done. Fuel economy is not great, but it is a cheap genny that does exactlly what it is suppose to do!

Well, I am Festival & Fair vendor. I booked a Labor Day weekend event that required me to provide my own electricity. I figured i'd buy a small portable generator to provide electricity to a strand of lights strung around my tent. Amazon has been great all around. I got it in 2 days like promised. I took it to my festival. I am a woman and it was easy enough for me to start. I ran it for like 3 hours. I was packed with customers and the light just died. Customers fled, money was lost. I love this little thing! I have a Droid 3 and I go through batteries like crazy, so I ordered this battery charger so that I can charge a battery while I have another one in my phone. But, what is really great, is that I can charge my phone even while I am charging up my extra battery. Works great and saves me downtime on my phone. I love it. It also has a light up bar that lets you know when your battery is fully charged by turning blue.

Ordered it, received it, tried it, and it only charges the batteries bf5x and bf6x to 50%. Shame, could have been useful.

Price was great, but I guess you get what you pay for. This charger is supposed to charge your Droid battery by either inserting the battery in the cradle or by using your USB cable connected to your phone. The label on the charger states that the cradle will charge at 4.2Vdc and 300ma. The USB output is rated at 5.2Vdc and 500ma. Given these stated specifications either charging method should be sufficient to charge the 3.7Vdc DROID battery. Given these ratings the desktop charger should fully charge a 1500maH battery in the cradle within 5 hours. However, I have found that after charging all night (8-10hours) the battery is not fully charged (charged to about 90%), even though the charging light has changed from red (charging) to blue (charged). A quick voltage measurement at the cradle terminals found only 3.8Vdc (unloaded), not the specified 4.2Vdc. I purchased two of these chargers and both perform in the same manner with new Motorola batteries. I do not recommend this product.

The packaging itself says it is rated for 400A but yet on the website it is advertised as 500A clamps.

Even at 400A that is very optimistic. The copper material is very flimsy at only 0.040" (1mm) thick.

At this thickness the material is easily bend if you were to draw the full 400A for any amount of time

the copper part will melt. The jaw spring is also weak and the claw can be easily compressed so there

is not much holding power when you need it against the battery posts.

These were listed as rated for 500 amps, I got the package today and it is plainly listed rated for 400 amps.
