thought they would be great as giftsi got this for my blackberry and it wouldnt charge -_but it worked on an iphone 3G and my ipodI just recently ordered this item and received it within the time frame. However, I have tried using this product twice and it doesn't even work properly.
After charging the pebble and I try plugging in my phone, it doesn't do anything, so my phone doesn't charge.
It is definitely not worth the money. I do not recommend purchasing this item.This battery backup is light, small and convenient when it comes to size. That's where all the good features stop.
The output of this thing is 500ma and a usb port plugged into your laptop/computer will charge at 700ma. What does this mean?
Lets do some math:
Galaxy s3 has a 2100mAh battery (this product has a 2200mAh battery) so you can fully charge the phone once..
2100/500ma = 4.2HR to fully charge
Additionally, the input on this is also 500ma meaning it takes 4.4 hr to fully charge
With the numbers above, that's only in best case scenario. In the real world figure 10% slower of a charge.
The product also doesn't have any indicators to show you the % of battery that is left.
The charge will be unable to charge your phone while using it, have gps or Bluetooth on? Your battery will still die as you are "charging it" with this.
Where this battery will come to good use is if your battery is completely dead and you need a charge. With the phone still off, plug it into the battery and throw it in your glove box. When you're back from shopping you will be fine.
You're better off getting a anker or monoprice battery , something that has an output of at least 2A so that you can use the phone while its charging and the battery will still be charging. Yes, it's a little more expensive (30 vs 20) but at least it works and isn't useless.
Some people might be asking "but the only time I want to use this I'll be desperate". The thing here is, if you are out working "in the field", weather for work, or playing a GPS game (like Niantic Ingress), its very important to always be plugged in when you don't have the luxury of a car charger.. or wall charger. Also on trips, camping, etc things like this could come in handy.
Imagine charging your phone for 15 minutes and only be able to make a phone call for 5 minutes? How does that help you?
Or being plugged into this thing while on the call so its "charging" but a few minutes later you realize the charge is so slow your phone just died on you......
