OEM Samsung CAD300MBE Car Charger i607 A707 M610 U740

OEM Samsung CAD300MBE Car Charger i607 A707 M610 U740This works fine to charge my phone and it was a fraction of the price I would have paid at the cell phone store.

This item was a disappointment. It appeared to be high quality in look and feel, but failed within a year.

Never worked in my car. The cord comming out of the unit had a loose connection on the inside. You may need to push very hard to push inside the sockets. There is nothing so great about this OEM charger.

I am pleased with this product. It feels sturdy and well made, as compared to the Motorola car charger I received for another cell phone, where it was light, felt flimsy, and the tip came unscrewed and fell off, while it was in the cig lighter.

I would buy it again if I had the same need.

Nothing too exciting to say about this charger except it works. I have been using it about 6 months now without issue.

Lenmar LIC511 Lithium-ion Camcorder Battery Equivelent to the Canon BP-511 Battery

Lenmar LIC511 Lithium-ion Camcorder Battery Equivelent to the Canon BP-511 BatteryI picked up a couple of these batteries as spares for my Canon digital camera (Powershot G5)--for the price of a single Canon battery.

Both have worked fairly well, although neither holds nearly the charge of the Canon batteries; I expect to get about 50 photos off of one, using a flash for about half, whereas the genuine Canon battery is good for 100 or more.

Also, one of the two no longer charges in external chargers; the contacts on the battery apparently don't quite connect well enough. I have to change that one in the camera.

Overall, if you want a spare battery, you can get two of these for what one Canon battery costs--but expect to get half the performance of the Canon battery, too.

Bought one of these a year ago. Works about the same as the Canon battery I got with the camera. I alternate between the Canon and the Lenmar batteries and haven't noticed any difference.

Buy Lenmar LIC511 Lithium-ion Camcorder Battery Equivelent to the Canon BP-511 Battery Now

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I've had no problems with this battery...and I've had it over a year. I'm a pro photographer, so it has been recharged over and over and over and still holds a charge. Maybe it is better because I tend to totally drain my batteries before recharging? I also use this battery in the Dual Battery Grip alongside the Canon and other off brand batteries.

I bought this battery as a replacement for an old Canon BP511A. It lasted about a couple of months before it started not taking a charge. Complete waste of money.

would not work for my intended purpose which was to plug my Garmin in without the long cord. Would only charge the Garmin, did not allow access to the data.

This is a very good value for the price! The design is nice and small, and the retractable wire prevents the cord from gettled tangled all over my car. I certainly do recommend this product. The only negative I notice is that whenever I plug myh GPS in this cord, a "Nonstandard Adapter... Extensive Charge Time" message appears on the screen. The GPS still charges fine, just this message can get annoying after awhile. Probably just a small wattage/voltage difference from my original adapter, but not a technical problem at all.

I got a defective product the first time but the company sent me a replacement. The new replacement was fine, but this product is very fragile, cheaply made. The cord is very short and didn't reach the dashboard and had to place it on the floor of the car which was very inconvenience. Because I was constantly pulling the cord it broke. If the cord were a bit longer and sturdier then this will be a good product. Now I'll be getting one with the regular spiral cord.

Good product overall; holds a charge and the retractable cord is convenient. Just don't be too rough on it. The plastic casing around the mini USB prong got loose, fell apart, and would not go back together. It could still charge my GPS, but it looked jury-rigged. Still worth it and recommended for the price. I'm going to order another one, and go easy on it this time.

Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel

Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar PanelWatch this video if you need help with solar power setup. This will help what you need to buy, guaranteed!Sunforce 60031 10 Amp Digital Charge Controller] ][[ASIN:B001TE0IMG Cobra CPI 880 800 Watt 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter with 5 Volt USB output Instapark® 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel These are the items I bought for my solar power setup plus everstart marine battery 27DC-6 from walmart.

P.S. Pure sine wave inverters are also 3x more expensive than modified sine wave inverters. Modified sine wave inverters can do most of the jobs pure sine wave inverters do. I didn't mention this in the video but most of the times, deep cycle and marine batteries have 2 rectangular caps, look in the video closely, you have to put distilled water or drinkable water(it's okay), and fill it up until about 1 inch below the opening of the holes. Check these water levels about once every 3 days(recommended). Just take the caps off to put the water in if needed. Also, charge controllers are heavily recommended if you use a solar panel greater than 10 to 15 watts. Mono-crystalliine and poly-crystalliine solar panels are recommended, amorphous panels are not recommended because they're not efficient as the other two types of panels and they generally last shorter than the other two. You can buy a smaller inverter, smaller controller, smaller battery, smaller panels or larger of them depending on your needs.

Yesterday we hooked up our solar panel. It works great!! We hooked it up with a 10 Amp charge controller. This panel is keeping our 5th wheel powered up great. It charges even when the sun is not directly on it which is nice. We hooked it all into our electrical system and it started charging immediately. This panel does NOT come with the connecters as shown in the pictures so be ready to crimp your wires. Also ours did come with the positive and negative wires marked. If we add another panel then we will get a 30 Amp charge controller for a better charge to our batteries. I am glad that we had a friend that used to work in the solar industry explain that to us. But for now we are just going to add another battery and we should be good. Maybe next month we will add another panel. This seems to be built well, nice and heavy construction. Not a wimpy piece of junk. Great value for the price. If I had it to do over again I would order this panel. It showed up in perfect condition. Shipping was quick and it was packed nicely with styrofoam padding all of the way around it. No problems there.

Buy Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel Now

This panel works well. Even in a very overcast day, I still get good voltage and decent amperage from it.

The only downside, which is why I only gave it 3 starts, is that the factory cable did not have any connectors on it as the description mentioned. It simply had a cable with the ends slightly stripped back, and the penetrations into the J-Box can not make a good seal with the factory cable. This is not a big deal for me as I was planning on making my own wiring harness anyway.

Read Best Reviews of Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel Here

My panel came with the MC4 connectors attached unlike previously reviewed by others. The output value of amps and voltage are within the specified range advertised. This panel keeps my 2 deep cycle RV batteries charged while using inside lights and 24-7 refrigerator. I don't use much else in my week-end retreat and I no longer have to use a generator to charge my batteries. I had a smaller 10Watt unit but it never did the job. I now only use my generator to watch TV or run the microwave or power tools as I have no inverter and this unit is really for charging and maintaining batteries and very small amp/hr applications. Mine sits flat on my roof with no permanent attachments and stays put. I have unimpeded sun exposure all day and never adjust the panel direction. The cable is only 3 ft and you will need to add cable remembering you need a MC4 attachment on the extension or cut and rewire the connections. I suggest a good, not the cheapest, 10 amp charge controller in case you wish to add more panels to this application and prevent overcharging of batteries. The unit does not have holes in the frame for the two cables and must be drilled if you use a flat surface mounting and route the cables from under the frame. Most of the issues mentioned in other older dated revues have been addressed and the cables are clearly and correctly marked with positive and negative tags.

Want Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel Discount?

I received this solar panel today and the first thing I noticed is that there are no MC-4 connectors included. The second thing is that unlike the images describe, the two wires are part of the same wire "assembly" and stripped from that assembly before going into the panel, removing any weather protection they might have had. Also, since the wires are so incredibly small, no seal can be created where they go into the weatherproof box on the back of the panel.

We'll find out in the next couple of weeks if this puts out anything around 50 watts and update the review as appropriate. If so, it will still be a good deal compared to some other 45 watt poly-crystalline panel kits that cost a bunch more.

Update 02/15/2012: Using my Watts-Up meter here in the winter I am 25-40 watts in the sun. I re-soldered some nice 12 AWG wire into the connector box with PowerPoles on the ends and will probably buy another one of these this summer to add.

I'm using a CirKits SCC3 solar charge controller connected to a Duracell Powerpack 600 and the solar panel is definitely doing a good job keeping it charged up.

130 Watt Portable RV and Marine Folding Solar Panel Kit with Built In Charge Controller

130 Watt Portable RV and Marine Folding Solar Panel Kit with Built In Charge ControllerPanel came early. Box was trashed! UPS neads to be held accountable! I opened box because it didn't appear to have intrusive damage. The protective case looked nice and has a very comfortable handle. opend up case and panels looked fine....and there were two Jolly Rancher candies in there! Not sure what thats about. They could have broke and had sticky gue all over since I am in the desert. I set it up immediately and it was very easy and came with the stated conections. While stroring the panels I did notice the case was collapsed just barely on one corner...ups sucks! Otherwise it did it's job.

As for only four stars....I started looking at the catalog and noticed a picture of the same panels (130 watt) but noticed the charge controller had a digital read out. If they really wanted to keep my buisiness they would put that on all panels and forget about a $50 coupon for a very limited selection of there own products! I didn't see that being sold but would have paid $50 more at least!? Marketing!?

Heavy Duty Weather Proof Bike Mount Holder Hard Case for Samsung GALAXY S2 / SII I9100, Galaxy S II

Heavy Duty Weather Proof Bike Mount Holder Hard Case for Samsung GALAXY S2 / SII I9100, Galaxy S II SGH-i777I was excited when I purchased this so that I could use the gps functions on my galaxy SII while bicycling. When it arrived, I was very disappointed. It was very hard to shut the case on the phone, and once shut there were gaps on the sides which would allow water and dust to enter. Also, the power button was held down the entire time causing the phone to cycle on and off.

Bought this as a gift and double checked the cell phone model prior to buying. Installation was simple, but when the user went to close the top cover, the device started pushing buttons on the cell phone. My friend tried to put it on and in every which way and finally came to me and told me that the phone just wouldn't fit properly in the case. Waiting to return product.

It arrived and I found that it does not fit, not even close. You can't make it fit without breaking your phone or trimming the rubber insert which I have not tried yet, nor will I. I believe what they did here is purchased some low cost inserts that were probably stamped out in China in the mold for the old Galaxy S I judging on the size of it. Rather than create a new mold that would fit they just changed the label on the old one so it says Galaxy S II.

Energizer Universal USB Charger

Energizer Dual Universal Usb Car Charger, Pc-2ca, 1-CountThe Dual Energizer Universal USB Car Charger can charge 2 USB devices at once.

Specifications:

The charger is rated 1.5 Amps, so each of the dual ports supplies 0.75 Amps of power (1.5 Amp / 2 = 0.75 Amps, or 750 milliamps) when both ports are used simultaneously.

0.75 Amps is enough power to charge most devices. To put things in perspective, a standard USB port on your computer supplies 0.5 Amps -Thus, if you can charge a device with the USB port on your computer, you should have no problem charging it with this Energizer charger.

I have only 2 niggles: (i) 2 words: blister package, and (ii) the charger has a smooth and shiny plastic exterior. I would have preferred if the plastic was more rugged in texture.

---

This charger works flawlessly to charge all of my devices (phone, PDA, bluetooth earphones, GPS, etc.). I couldn't be more happy with it. Recommended.

No big complaints about this unit, certainly beats carrying two USB-chargers on trips. I did note that when I plugged my iphone and ipad2 simultaneously it took the ipad much longer to charge than when it was alone. But it works fine, no signs of heating up, no irritating bright blue blinking LED light to keep you awake all night. Recommended.

Update 3 months later:

OK, originally I gave this 5 stars, but 3 months later it has malfunctioned and no longer charges any device. It makes a buzzing sound when devices are plugged in. No go for me.

Buy Energizer Universal USB Charger Now

The Energizer Dual Universal USB Charger works well during my first day of use. The charger does what it should do charging two USB devices at the same time. However there is a severe limitation the output is rated at 1.5A max, not enough to charge the Apple iPad.

Pros:

Works well with USB devices that does not demand a lot of power. It works with my iPhone, Android phone, Kindle, and Bluetooth headset.

Comes in frustration-free packaging. It is very easy to open the paper board packaging.

Universal input power from 100V 240V AC.

Fold-out plug that does not take any space when folded in for travelling

Overall relatively small size.

Cons:

The two USB ports are rated at 1.5A total. According to the original iPad charger, you need 2.1A to charge the iPad. Not being able to charge the iPad is the reason that I have to give it a three-star rating. Basically it does not enable me to carry only one charger. (Other users pointed out that the charger does charge the iPad. The iPad screen must be turned off in order for it to be charged by this charger. The trickle charge mode takes a long time to charge the iPad, and the iPad shows "not charging" although the battery does get charged over time. Upgrade to 4 stars because of this update.)

Although it does not take much space when plugged into a wall outlet, the footprint is relatively big and it will block two outlets if used with a power strip.

It gets very warm when charging two devices at the same time.

Read Best Reviews of Energizer Universal USB Charger Here

This is the first time I write a review about anything, ever, and I'm doing so because of how much I regret buying this charger. I figured that since Energizer has a good reputation I was going to get a quality product, boy, was I wrong. This thing makes the most annoying buzzing sound when I try to charge anything with it. Like most people I prefer to leave my cellphone charging overnight on the nightstand, but the few times I did while using this charger I woke up with a headache. I've tested it with other devices and different outlets, always with the same results. The worst part is that sometimes the pitch of the buzzing changes, thus becoming even more annoying. Other than that, it works as advertised, but hey, so did Chucky.

Schumacher Electric Wheel Charger SE-4225

Schumacher Electric Wheel Charger SE-4225those who are engineers are typically paper trained and like machanical hands on ability; this product works very well. this charger will stop if the battery is shorted or if you try to start a vehicle while in a lower amp charge setting. price and function of this charger is hard to beat. in addition to this charger get a floating ball battery tester [ about $4]. this lets you have an idea if the battery is charged or will charge.

Way over rated for the tough job!!

Does not perform as advertised!!

Will not charge at 60A for more than 25 minutes.

It overheats and trips and cannot be used for about 30 to 60 minutes before it cools down and auto resets.

My RV has big batteries and I need a real 60A charger, not a 30A charger labeled as a 60A.

Most users don't demand the full rated current for an hour or longer. I need the charger to perform as advertised.

As a retired engineer, I have the equipment and know how to run this test accurately.

After shipping, this came to almost $25, pricey for an AC charger, However, of the 350 AC chargers that I've collected since 1984, not one of them fit the Sony MP3 player. (I've got a box of 'em, from calculators to high end 8mm camcorders, from cell phones to mp3s. Zip, zero, nada.) Anyway, although my Sony's battery does indeed last 37 hours give or take, just in case I'm traveling, it's great to know I can plug it in while I wait for my usually late NWA flight. And then I'm set even if we're on the tarmac for 5 hours (my personal worst).

Instapark® 10w Solar Panel Portable Solar Charger with Built-in Dual USB Ports for iPhone, iPad &

Instapark® 10w Solar Panel Portable Solar Charger with Built-in Dual USB Ports for iPhone, iPad & all other USB Compatible DevicesAfter reading many reviews and seeing disappointing reports on other solar chargers I decided to buy this one because, with amazon reward points, it was a very good deal. I recently traveled to Namibia and didn't want to increase the electric bill of the people I was staying with so I thought I would give the Instapark a try. It was excellent! My ipad went from 33% at 11:40 to 55% at 1:00 and when I unplugged it at 2:00 it had charged to 89%. I just propped it up against a rock so it was at a 45 degree angle, tucked the ipad underneath the Instapark so it wouldn't be out in the desert sun, even winter sun, for hours and then went about my day. I touted its praises so much that one of my fellow travelers borrowed it to charge her ipod. All in all I charged my ipad twice, my ipod twice and a friend's ipod once. I highly recommend the Instapark® 10 Watt Solar Panel Portable Solar Charger with Dual USB Ports for iPhone, iPad & all other USB Compatible Devices

I bought this to use while hiking and backpacking to keep things like camera, GoPro and GPS charged. Just spent 6 days in the Grand Canyon and found that I wasted a lot of sunlight because everything charged so fast!

For the most part, I kept this strapped to my pack hanging from top to bottom so that it would get sun while I hiked. I then had it plugged into a 5000mAh battery pack that I would charge during the day, and would use the battery pack to charge devices once I was in camp. Next day, recharge the battery pack. There were several days we were at camp by 9 or 10am, so on those days I would set the charger in the sun and plug the battery pack AND a device like my GoPro or fellow hiker's iPods in to charge. Charges rarely took more than 2 hours and usually were done in about an hour for partially charged devices. The last 2 days of the hike I didn't even bother strapping it to my pack...it charged things so fast in camp that it was redundant.

All in all, I'm very happy with this unit and I felt like I was wasting sunlight when not charging something. The two USB ports combined with the fold up design make this a major win!

This device is rated to output 5 VDC at 2 amps max and it features dual USB port outputs to charge two devices at once. I had success with the product as it would charge an iPhone 4, two iPhone 4's simultaneously, iPad 2, iPad 3, an 11,000 mAh storage battery and a Kindle Fire. This is on a beautiful sunny day.

Here are my test results:

* Charging my wife's iPad 2 was OK. This charged it from 80 % to 100% in under one hour.

* Charging one iPhone was fast and easy.

* Charging two iPhones from 45% and 56% respectively to 100% simultaneously on both phones in 80 minutes.

* Charging an iPad 3 from 28% to 85% in 5 hours. This is a good job as the iPad 3 uses a lot of power to recharge and takes a long time even using the Apple AC wall charger. My iPad 3 did stop charging 3 times due to clouds passing over and the iPad 3 displayed the charging not supported with this accessory error each time. I had to disconnect it and plug it back in to resume charging.

* Charging an 11000 mAh battery was also slow. It charged the battery from 25% to 52 % in about 90 minutes. Charging 2 1/2 hours more raised the battery charge to 62 %. It is good that you can charge batteries in this manner as now you will have both a daytime and nighttime source of energy. This slow charging may have been due to a few clouds passing over on the first day of testing.

* Be very careful of exposing your electronic devices to the hot sun. I covered mine with a white towel and then covered that with a white cardboard box. High temperatures are not good on batteries, electronics and LCD displays. Left in the sun unprotected they will be damaged severely.

* Charging a Kindle Fire worked but again it was slow going due to randomly cloudy skies. The Kindle Fire LED lit power button did not light up but the Kindle Fire did charge.

This solar panel would be ideal for outdoor use by campers and anyone who needed to charge a phone, iPad, or a USB rechargeable battery, GPS or flashlight. This product is great for emergencies when you lose power.

The unit folds up nicely into a portable package that is small and lightweight. It is easy to pack or put into a backpack. The USB ports are contained in a Velcro closed pocket that is also large enough to hold your phone and the cable while it is charging. You can also carry extra USB cables in the pouch for your various electronic devices. The solar panel has multiple hanging loops to hang it on a wall, side of a tent or a line if you need to.

I tested the unit over 2 days and both days had nice sunny skies. Despite that fact the solar panel performed much better the second day. Full intense sunlight provides the best results and any clouds or shadows can stop your device from charging even though the solar panel resumes outputting the proper voltage and current levels when the sun returns. This is due to your electronic device charging circuit and this cannot be helped. Please watch my attached video and I hope it is informative for you.

I was provided a free sample of the device for testing and to provide an impartial review.

Finally, something that does the job!

I purchased this solar panel hoping it would charge my iPad. I have purchased a handful of items which claimed to be able to charge one, but they never worked. My skepticism was unfounded as this charged my iPad up without issue. It has two USB ports so you could charge a couple of devices at once, and is so light that I have brought it on a recent hiking trip. The loops allow you to attach it to the outside of your pack, and you can just charge while you hike, or let it lay out during lunch. Keep the iPad or iPhone out of the sun by covering it with the panel, or sticking it in your bag so it doesn't overheat.

Bottom line, this thing works so well I bought a second one a week after the first one arrived (One for everyday use, and one for my emergency kit) as well as a bunch of flashlights and other tools which can operate or charge off of USB.

Great item, very versatilethank you for finally making something that does the job!

This is a great product for the 13 inch MACBook Pro. Be sure to get the higher wattage for larger computers. This unit does not over heat when the USB outlet is in use like I experienced with another product. Great price too.

A very positive surprise that out of the box, directly into the car, it did work as it was described to be.

I highly recommend it to anyone that needs to power a MacBook on the road plus an extra USB port to charge other units.

I have only used this product twice, but have not had any problem with it either time. Cord is plenty long enough, while not so long that you have cord all over your car. the MagSafe portion seems solid enough, and may even be stronger than my home charger. Also I did not even notice when ordering that their is a extra usb port on this charger, should you need to charge something else, so it was like a surprise bonus.

Goal Zero 11402 Guide 10 4AA Battery Recharger

Goal Zero 11402 Guide 10 4AA Battery RechargerI have purchased, used and tested every lightweight solar charging device on the market that I could find. The Goal0 nomad 7 and Guide 10 set is the only one that works sufficiently that I can be completely off the grid with my backpacking devices and have no need for extra batteries. See below for solar panels tested. I have been testing portable solar panels for several years now, and the Goal 0 products are the best.

The Nomad 7 is the only solar panel that has the capability to charge an adequate battery pack, my headlamp AAA's, AND my smartphone/GPS all in the same day in full sunlight. It is the only panel that has reserve capacity to charge my devices in less than full sun (shady/cloudy). No other panel has the output of the Nomad 7. Its closest competitor is the Brunton panel. The Brunton weighs 20% more and is rated to output 30% less than the Nomad 7 (Brunton = 5 watts, Nomad 7 = 7 watts). In my testing the lower output was verified. The off-axis performance of the Nomad 7 is superior. It maintains full output to a greater angle of sun than any other panel I have tested. The Nomad 7 is the only panel, in my knowledge, that uses the more efficient mono-crystalline panels. It does seem to give it an edge in real-world usage. As far as flexibility, that characteristic has nothing to do with panel efficiency. Another of the well-thought out features of the Nomad 7 is the connection options. The Xpal SP-2000 and the Solio both rely on many different tips to connect to different devices. The Nomad 7 has three great options built in: 6.5 volt fast charge for the Guide 10 charger, 5 V USB connector, and a port that the included 12V female car lighter adapter plugs into. Every portable device has the option of an inexpensive car power adapter, and the Nomad 7 nicely offers that ability.

The Guide 10 charger works to its rated specifications, unlike most of the other solar devices I have used. It charges AA and AAA batteries. It charges them faster with the Nomad 7 than any other solar panel/charger combination that I have tested. The Goal 0 batteries that ship with the Guide 10 are the best of their type I have tested. They are low-discharge, like the Eneloops, but much better. The Eneloops are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge only to about 1900 mAh capacity. The Goal 0 are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge to 2200 mAh. The guide 10 has some very well thought out features, including the LED flashlight, the function switch and the built-in hanging loop. These touches all demonstrate that the designers are users, and thought well about how these devices would be used.

All is not perfect, though. The Guide 10 does have an overheating problem, but only in very strong sunlight and under certain conditions. This is a known issue that is being fixed as I write this. This brings me to one of my most important experiences; customer service. Goal 0 has the best customer service by far than any other of the solar panel manufacturers I have tested in this group. Immediate phone contact, responsiveness to questions and warranty service are far and away some of the best I have experienced.

Following is a list of the solar panels I have tested, and short comparison comments on each.

1. Powerfilm USB + AA: This one has a great form factor, is flexible and very durable, and is the lightest weight and most compact of all the solar chargers. Its fatal flaw is that it simply does not put out enough power to be practical in extended backpacking. It does not fully charge the AA batteries when it indicates a full charge, and is not nearly as flexible as the Nomad 7 for connection. The unit was replaced on warranty, but the replacement performed exactly the same. I tested a total of four of these, and all performed the same. Customer service was good, after spending weeks trying to get their attention, and this happened several times.

2. Solio Classic: This one has a nice form factor, but the unit simply does not charge its internal battery nor a connected device at all adequately. Just in case, I had it replaced on warranty and the replacement performed exactly the same.

3. Xpal Power SP-2000: Same as the Solio. Internal battery rated at 2000 mAh, only charges to about 1100-1300. Not enough power overall to be practical. Very good customer service.

4. Brunton Explorer: A good panel, but not enough overall power. Weighs 20% more than the Nomad 7, output is 30% less.

This charger ships without batteries. That is not at all clear from the product description.

It does ship with what looks like the AAA insert. Again that is not mentioned in the product description.

Additional info:

I had purchased a AAA adapter and batteries separately and so I have been able to use this product. With the 4 x AAA the pack works great. I was able to fully drain the batteries this weekend and after just 2 hours on the Nomad 7W panel they were full again. I used the pack today at work to recharge my Sansa Clip and set of Tweakers. After charging both devices the pack just started slow green blinking which means it just hit the 2/3-1/3 charge remaining.

Other than the product description I have had a wonderful experience. I am going to adjust my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

It melted.

I had it one week. I was using it with the correct solar panel and it was tucked inside of the pouch that was designed for it. So, I guess that the plastic that it is made from is not designed to withstand the heat of sunlight; even though it has to be in sunlight to charge. Go figure.

After purchasing the Nomad 7 (they didn't have the adventure kit in stock where I bought it) I wanted to complete my set up and purchased the guide 10 separately. I liked the idea that it had it's own accelerated charging port and seeing as how they had corrected the "melting" issue it seemed like a safe bet. After having my expectations in solar technology reigned in by several other products over the years I was truly amazed at just how well the Nomad panel works...indirect sunlight, on an overcast day, through a window and my ipod touch starts charging...unbelievable!!! When I received the guide 10 I was hoping it too would somehow exceed my expectations. I popped in some eneloops and plugged in my ipod to see if it would charge and it did for about 30 seconds or so before it gave out. I wasn't sure how much juice was in them to begin with so didn't think it to be a problem and saw it as a great opportunity to do a charge test. I hooked it up to the nomad and found a pretty bright spot and all seemed well, the red flashing started almost immediately indicating charging had started. I couldn't wait for it to finish the charge outside so I brought it back in and hooked it up to usb to finish the charge. I'm not sure what they use for the charging algorithm but they claim it should take about 6 hours on usb to charge, and being that it had moved from red to green flashing while outdoors it seemed a bit odd that some 8 hours later it was still slow blinking green. I decided to unplug it and see how it was coming along. I moved the switch from off to the charging position and the reassuring green light came on so I plugged in the ipod and nothing...I took a different cable and my phone and still nothing, so I poped out the batteries and checked there individual voltages which were all around 1.47 volts(usually a full charge on other chargers). I put the batteries back in and checked the usb output voltage which was around .66 volts. I had seen that some of the original chargers had some issues with not completing a charge and thought maybe somehow I had gotten one of those, but according to the picture on there website this is a 2nd generation charger so I'm left to wonder if in fixing the melting problem they might have inadvertently threw something else out of whack. Now I guess I'll decide if its worth sending it back to try and get it fixed, buy anther one and hope this one is just a dud, or wait a while to see if it is in fact a problem with the new design(from what I can tell this version is just weeks old) and see if they come up with another replacement program so I don't have to deal with sending it back. Their customer service appears to be good so I'm sure it will be fine whichever way I decide to go, but if your in the market and not in a hurry you might want to wait a bit to see if anyone else reports any issues with the new one.

UPDATE:

After leaving it plugged in overnight it did finish charging but the USB port is still useless for charging external devices.

UPDATE 2:

Tried to charge 4 aaa's by USB today and 12 hours later it's still flashing red so I'm confident there is something not quite right with this unit. This company gives me the impression that they are trying to make a great product so I still have hope that this one was just a lemon as happens occasionally with everything that is manufactured. For the sake of satisfying my curiosity I ordered another one and will compare the performance when it arrives and post a final update

UPDATE 3:

Got the new one and it seems to be working. Put in charged aaa's and it went from red to green to solid green in about 10 minutes so it properly sensed that the batteries were already charged. Was able to use the unit to charge up my ipod and then recharge the batteries by usb which took a couple of hours without getting stuck on some stage as the first one did. I can't say anything as to the durability or if it will continue to work as it is but out of the box this one is functioning properly. One other random note is that this one didn't come with the aaa battery insert. It is listed on the package as an included accessory and the package was "sealed" with the 3 zip ties when it got here so it must be a packing oversight. Despite the bugs I still think their product is the best portable solar solution on the market today.

I liked the products external design, implementation, features etc. I stored it in a water proof box with my phone, and kept it in great environmental conditions. But within 3 days of using it to charge my iPhone from AA batteries, the switch that selects off, charge, or led flashlight, broke. Now only the led flashlight functions. The green/red/orange led that indicates charging status will blink occasionally when trying to slide button from side to side. Sometimes I can get it to stay green but fresh batteries won't charge the phone so I am not sure what is wrong with it electronically. Would have been a great device if it didn't break.
