Battery Tender 021-1164 10W Solar Charger

The Battery Tender 10W solar panel worked well for 7 months. Now the control unit has apparently failed and the charging LED only flickers occasionally. I was propping the panel against the inside of the windshield of my parked car where it could receive direct sunlight in the afternoon, but even when the sunlight was indirect, the LED charging indicator on the Battery Tender would glow as soon as the sun was fully up in the morning. The car in question doesn't get driven enough to keep its battery from running down, and the solar panel was doing an excellent job of maintaining the battery. I had purchased an adapter cable that plugged into the car's cigarette lighter socket so it wasn't too inconvenient to set up and remove the panel. I purchased this Solar Battery Charger to maintain the battery in my vehicle while it is not in use for extended periods of time. Nearly all cars have alarm systems and other devices which draw power from the battery on a continuous basis. This current drain can reduce the battery voltage enough to cause Sulfides to form on the plates of the battery. When this happens, the battery is doomed to an early death. The solar charger generates just enough power to counteract the small current drains, and prevent the battery voltage from dropping. This has got to be the nicest accessory I have ever seen for the Creative Zen Vision: M. Unfortunately, not a lot of good aftermarket goodies were made for this awesome device. I received the kit as a Christmas gift from my wife, and boy was I pleasantly surprised! This kit will allow you to get much more functionality out of your Zen. The best part is the folding speaker/docking station. It works like a charm and holds the Zen uprightperfect for viewing movies. The speakers fold completely shut to protect the speaker cones from damage in transit. When open, they display well thanks to the nice shiny cones. The sound is clear and plenty loud enough when used indoors. Outside, you would want bigger speakers, naturally. My kit had black speakers, but white ones are available as well. There is a super bright blue LED power light on top that accents it well, and helps you to find the volume knob and power switch at night. It can be run off of (4) AA batteries or from AC with the handy cord. The cord is perfectly designed with a USB that plugs into the separate 110v wall adapter or the 12v car adapter (both included). This allows you to run the speakers from a computer, the wall outlet, or your car cigarette lighter. The kit also comes with a docking cable that plugs into the bottom of the Zen that has a USB on the other end. That means you can charge the Zen from either of those 3 options. This is huge, considering the Zen didn't even come with a wall charger from the factory; just a USB dock/charger cord. (That AC cord alone set me back another $25 from Creativethis whole kit was less than that!). I tried a couple cheap universal USB to AC wall chargers over the years and none worked. The ones in this kit however, work flawlessly. Note: the docking plug had two small buttons on the sides. Make sure to push them in before detaching the cable from the Zen.

The kit comes with two cases: one is a hard clear plastic case, and the other is a soft black rubber skin. The skin was super easy to put on and off, and worked well. You could see the backlight of the keys through the rubber around the center button, which remains exposed. It also gives you a couple more mounting options with the speakers, as the skin allows the speakers to grab and hold the Zen, without using the sliding removable shelf piece. You can then turn the shelf backwards for more stability. The hard case I would caution you against using, unless your Zen is to live in it forever. I snapped it on and the snaps were so tight, it would not come back off! It took two people and two screwdrivers to get it back off, and it was a miracle I didn't scratch the Zen in the process. Throw this thing away. I imagine you could make it work better by sanding the tabs down a bit if you really wanted to, but why bother? Both cases have built-in belt loops and openings top and bottom for cables/cords.

Other goodies in the kit include a male-to-male speaker adapter cable, two peel-off screen protectors, one pair of earbud speakers, and a cool rubber key chain. All in all, I couldn't find one bad thing about this kit other than the clear hardcase. Everyone with a Zen should have one of these kits! I plan on getting another folding speaker and cord just to have as a spare, as they are only about 3 bucks right now!! You can afford to have one in every room for that kind of dough!

This has become my best friend doing a lot of my own auto repair. Very strong, and battery life goes all day...which is good since it only has one battery, but the matching drill I got came with two, and I'm soon to have another 4-piece kit to match, so batteries will be plenty in the likely event of me forgetting to recharge it when I'm done.

1 The charge controller will manage the load automatically.

2 The minimum battery voltage must be 12.35v or the load will cut off.

3 The setting for keeping the load on (without the timer function) is 6.6 (I will call this the normal setting from here on)

4 The load indicator is always yellow (provided you have sufficient battery power)

5 The charge controller won't work without a battery connected to it.

The charge controller has a single digit LED mode indicator which has two states (flashing or steady) that indicate whether you are in programming mode (flashing) or display mode (steady). A number may or may not have a decimal point. If it has a (.) to the right of the number, it means that the number is a decimal. No decimal point means that the number you are looking at is a whole number (totally counter intuitive).

* Every time you press the button (if you are in the programming mode), the number will advance to the next higher number.

* A button press will only advance you to the next number.

* Holding the button down will not cause the number to automatically advance.

* Pressing the button will advance the number through all the whole numbers, all the decimal numbers and then cycle back to the beginning of the sequence (0-9 and then .0-.9)

In order to get to the normal setting, you must:

a) Press and hold the button (there is only one button on the far right) until the LED begins to flash.

b) Repeatedly press the button until you get to the number BEFORE the whole number you are trying to set (in my example, until you see the 5)

c) Press and hold the button once again. This will change the number to 6 and it will stop flashing.

** At this point, you have set the controller for 6.x and you will have to repeat the process to get to .6

d) Press and hold the button until the number begins to flash

e) Repeatedly press the button until you get to the decimal number before 6. (in my example, until you see 5.)

f) Press and hold the button once again. This will change the number to 6. and it will stop flashing.

If you have followed all the steps, have your battery connected (charged above 12.35v) and have your solar panel generating sufficient power, LED-1 (far left) will be green, LED-2 (center) will be green and LED-3 will be yellow (indicating that there is power at the load terminals.

Beyond the little tutorial above, there's not really much to know about the controller itself. It's pretty much a set and forget device. There is not reset button (to restore it to factory default) and no self test mode but for most purposes it shouldn't be necessary.

Another poster stated that the unit can desulfate batteries. I have not verified that but if that is true, then you should also be able to connect this charge controller to a battery charger to recondition batteries (and save on the expense of a standalone desulfator).

This charger has been in service for over a week now. Batteries are charged every sunny day.

Keep in mind, this charger will take a max of 360 watts or 30 amps of solar power at 12 volts; 720 watts or 30 amps max at 24 volts. The "Product Description" doesn't say what size wire you can connect to this but I was able to use 8 gauge wire, no problem.

It does have an LED display for lighting options (on the load side) but I haven't tried to use it. Unless you're very good at reading/understanding broken-English, you'll probably have to read the little manual several times to successfully use the Lighting Control. Says it has a 30 amp load capacity.

Are there better 30amp PWM charge controllers available? Yes.. but not for $25!

This is an awesome little package. The instructions say that it can use any wire up to #4.

I used a size 8 .... as #8 and #10 are typical wires for solar and electrical. Even the solar for my house uses these size wires.

It does everything I need it to do, plus some. One thing I really needed to know, did it desulfate the batteries. YES IT DOES ... whoo hoo

Very user friendly and easy to use ... it has little pictures on the machine instead of words ... so you know exactly what goes where, and you don't have to worry about losing the instructions.

Seams better than the HQRP Solar Power Controller I purchased 7 months age. The fuse blew on it and can not be replaced so I bought this one. It seams to be made better and started charging ion a cloudy day. The Manuel is a bit hard to understand but I was use to the old Manuel.

This is a good simple charge controller for the money, only a small price upgrade from a 10 amp controller but can handle more power without burning out. Definitely worth the money, but I personally prefer charge controllers with a digital readout.

Skil 2346-01 3.6-Volt IXO2 Power Portable Screwdriver

PROS: Small and easy to hold. Sturdy construction with a good set of bits included. Has a good amount of torque and can drive screws into solid wood without any problems.

CONS: The button to switch direction on the tool is too close to the trigger, I'm always hitting it accidentally. No clutch and just one speed, so you have to be careful about using it on delicate or precise jobs. I bought this on a golden box sale, but it still turns out I paid too much. There are other brands with better features for less money.

The product works extremely well. It is great for small projects that do not require a lot of tork, such as putting in electrical outlet screws. The newly added feature of the light is a great benefit. Amazon does have it listed by the wrong Brand name, it is not a Bosch name but a Skil brand name. Bosch owns Skil so that must be where the confusion comes from. I bought it becuase of the light because I had the original one without the light and wanted that benefit. I highly recomended it for light duty work.

I am very happy with this small cordless screwdriver. It has been great for placing screws in the wall for shelves, hooks, and blinds. Very easy to charge and use. I got this as a Gold Box deal and have been absolutely thrilled with it. For quick jobs around the house, the Skil IXO2 cannot be beat. The device itself feels very well-constructed and designed, with a rubberized grip and solid weight. It's also nice and small, fitting in tighter spaces than the pole-style cordless screwdrivers, and it provides a good amount of torque, even being able to screw nails into wood. That being said, don't throw away your high-torque cordless drill/driver. This thing is really for the tons of random small household tasks you have to face week after week, like tightening up cabinet screws, unscrewing battery covers, assembling cheap furniture, etc., and at that, it excels. Part of the huge convenience factor is its included charging cradle. When you're done with your job, you just throw it back into the cradle no need to fit a plug in, fiddle with it to get it clicked into the charger, etc. Speaking of charging, the internal, non-replaceable lithium-ion battery seems to last for quite some time I've never come close to exhausting it and I've not seen any degradation in performance in the year I've owned it. The yellow LED light on the front I initially thought to be a useless gimmick, but it has proved inordinately useful when working in areas without good lighting, like inside a cabinet, under the sink, etc. There are also an impressive 22 bits that come with it, including a a small drill to make pilot holes in a pinch, but, truthfully, I've used maybe 3 of them small philips, large philips, flathead. That being said, bit changes are quick pull out the old bit by the tip, put in the new bit.

Downsides? Some people have remarked on the rotation direction button being too easy to trigger accidentally, but, truthfully, I have never had that problem. Otherwise, I have nothing bad to say about this tool.

Bottom line: get it and be amazed at how capable and convenient this thing is when you're doing regular maintenance around the house.

This is a great little tool with plenty of torque for most routine jobs around the house. When a little extra is needed, you can press the direction button to its center position to lock the chuck, allowing screws to be turned by hand. Charge time is quick and the Li-Ion battery runs plenty long and keeps its charge well between uses. My only complaint is that the direction change/chuck lock button is poorly located. When set for reverse direction, I am always hitting that little button with my index finger and knocking it into the locked or forward direction. Mildly annoying flaw in an otherwise outstanding tool.

I bought this kit and it came with absolutely everything I needed to install the solar system. It has the 125 watt Carmanah solar module, the 25 amp digital Go Power regulator and all the wire and mounting hardware that I needed to put it on my travel trailer. The instructions for the installation were very simple and this was an easy install, in my opinion. The solar panel has been on for a couple of weeks now and I have to say I wish I had bought one a long time ago. My batteries never seem to be low and I just got back from a 3 day camping trip. I highly recommend this solar kit for anyone who would like to no longer worry about dead batteries in their RV. There is a 25 year warranty on the panel as well. Make sure you get a Go Power solar kit though because they have the best support and they have the better regulator that comes with the solar kit.

This is a video I made on Movie Maker to show aveything that comes in the GPRV-125 kit, incase you are wondering. There is everything you will need to install the solar kit with exception of sealant which you will need if you are installing on an RV roof. I used Dicor sealant on the mounting brackets when I put this on my RV roof. The panel has been on my roof for a year now and it still puts out 7 amps on sunny days and has kept my batteries charged. The charge controller which is called a GP-PWM-25 (in the video) can actually handle 3 of these 125 watt panels but I have not had a need to do so. I have been very happy with this product, it is definitely higher quality then some of the other brands I have seen out there.

i like this because i can charge an extra battery for my phone. i use my omnia for playing my music so i carry an extra battery. i have yet to drain the first battery but i might. :)

the con: well you still have to stick the wire into the side of the omnia. which says more about the annoying design of the omnia then the docking station.

the omnia only has ONE propretary opening into the entire phone. it has to be used for head phones, charging, docking, adapters and anything else you want external to the phone.

I am not completely satisfied with the Omnia itself but this charger just adds insult to injury as far as the phone is concerned. The only positive thing about this charger is that you can charge and sync at the same time. Other than that it is an overpriced piece of plastic that holds your phone up so you can stick the cord into the side. The cord sticks out which prevents a nice streamlined look for your desk. If it were not the only option, I would never select this desktop cradle. For that matter, I would not select the Omnia again either.

I was looking for a solution to address the less than lengthy battery life of my 3G. My fear of running out of battery juice and being left with nothing but a high tech coaster led me to the i.Sound. I"ve had a couple of these for over 7 months & came back to write this review because I've been so pleased. It's small, very light weight for a battery & best of all it charges the phone, so you don't have to have it attached all the time... once the charge goes from the battery to the phone, just disconnect it & your back to a fully charged phone.

I travel in exotic places that may or may not have access to power for a few days... with these little puppies I can charge my phone fully overnight without a power outlet anywhere near. (No it doesn't take overnight to charge the phone -it's actually very quick to transfer the power -but it's handy to do overnight just like an outlet if you don't have power available.)

You can also use it as a power adapter to charge the iphone -just put the battery on the phone, plug it in & it charges both the phone & the battery. Handy to not have to carry a separate charger.

It's also got prongs that fold in and a very spiffy reel on the cord of the charger. These things matter when you're traveling.

Some reviewers mention that it doesn't work with older iPhone... well, no, it doesn't & that's pretty clearly stated above. Hardly a reason to give a bad review -it's like complaining that your car doesn't fly very well.

The DC car adapter for the Leapster was used, but in perfect working order. It made for a nice trip home during Christmas break when the batteries ran out from playing it so much! Thanks for the quick delivery, too!

Although the description does not state the adapter fits the LeapPad, I read a reviewer question whether it might. The answer to the question from another reviewer was yes, it did indeed fit the LeapPad. I am not sure if there is a totally different size adapter opening on the LeapPad 2 versus the original LeapPad, but this adapter most definitely does not fit in the LeapPad 2, it is too big. Obviously reading a review and basing my decision to purchase isn't the sellers fault, but I still rated it with 1 star simply because the product does not work for us. So I will be returning the adapter and buying a most likely more expensive adapter that definitely fits the LeapPad 2. I wanted to write this review so that someone else won't read the previous review stating this adapter will work for the LeapPad and be in my same situation. At least this was ordered well in advance of our road trip, so that there is plenty of time to purchase the right adapter!

Ordered this last month to stop burning through batteries on my daughter's LeapPad. Unfortunately it doesn't work. A red light comes on when you plug it in, but it doesn't actually power the LeapPad. Very disappointing.

I got this DC Car Adapter for my grandson, great except here in California kids have to have a car seat under a certain weight and the adapter cord is not long enough to use in the back seat unless you have an adapter in the rear.

Works very well for a battery backup solution. We have sensitive electronic devices connected to it, and the output is pure and stable enough that they are not affected.

Only had it for a few weeks so cannot judge it harshly.

It appears to handle the power draw quite well,

the battery meter does lie a little bit -when the

battery is fully charged, and the power cuts out,

it drops down to "half charged" but i think this is because

being such a beefy charger, it maybe requires a few more

batteries on it, as the voltage of a single large group 27

lead acid battery stabilises around 12.36 volts during use of battery,

there is nothing wrong with either the battery or the inverter,

I think its just needs a few more batteries, it is a big

inverter and is desined to run/charge more than just one battery.
