I purchased two of these because they had the most features of all the Motorola models. Having NOW read the reviews of some of the competitors I am certain that I would have been just as happy with cheaper models. These are the "cutest" and smallest, but the feature of different sounds to identify different callers is a disappointment. The SENDING radio makes five different noises to identify five different senders, but the noise is made out loud on the sender's radio and the noise is transmitted the same as one's voice would be. I find it annoying and not worth any extra cost over the model 250. The only advantage that I can see of the Motorola 250 and 280 over the competition is the number of channels and sub-channels they make available. This would be a useful feature when there are lots of other radios being used in the area, such as at a crowded theme park but, in the circumstances that I find myself, there are never other radios around and I am not certain that we will be able to communicate with radios with less channels.

My wife and I use the radios when we are caravaning on drives with our car club and they have been very useful. One member missed a turnoff when he didn't see us turn and we were able to re-direct him, otherwise we probably would not have seen him until the end of the day.

Another consideration in making a purchase of a two-way radio is the number and type of accessories, we wound up spending as much on accessories as we did on the radios: arm holsters, earphone/ microphone combination for easier hands free operation when driving a car and rechargeable batteries and chargers.

I have a set of these 2 way radios and they are excellant. My wife and I use these when we go to the mall,or when we go on a trip with another couple using 2 cars. My dad and I also use these on our 120 acre farm.

When driving in cars reception is good up to a mile.

When using outside around hills reception range seems to be around .7 to a mile.

When using outside in ideal conditions (flat land, a way from power lines) reception seems to be around 1.8 to 2.2 miles.

This unit is small and fits in the palm of your hand. These units uses AA batteries which lasts up to 30 hours.

I am currently in Bosnia, as part of a peacekeeping mission here in the Balkans. I purchased two Talkabouts to play around with while here, and was so impressed with their performance that my unit has purchased several more. We currently use them in the majority of our missions, as we have found that, with a two mile PLUS range, these radios are ten times more practical than the military-bought bulky radios, which, in average, are not as dependable as the Talkabout. We have enough to carry around with us, and know a convenient product when we see it. A great buy.

I've been very happy with my older talkabouts for skiing & backpacking. With this newer radio, it works just as well, I'm saving 2 ounces, and it fits better in a parka pocket. The review signed by "Dissapointed" which says that the radios are buzzy at short range fails to note that these radios aren't supposed to be used at close range (the manual does note that there is excessive interference within 5 feet, but I've found that there's extra noise within up to 50 feet), so for fun-with-kidz type uses, a cheap Radio Shack radio might well be a better choice. This Talkabout is the best choice for outdoor rec uses though. The only problem is that too many people are using them at ski areas now, so sometimes we've had to switch channels/codes.

I bought a pair of motorola FR50's recently and the range is great. These work just as great as a pair of Talkabout's can, but they were much cheaper. They are very small, lightweight, and have just as many channels. The only difference between the FR50's and the Talkabout's are minor extras like VOX and scan feature. Most people don't need those. Do yourself a favor and save yourself some money.

I charged the unit overnight and it was amazing. I've started several cars including my sisters jeep that had been sitting with the battery dead over a month. It started the Jeep in a few seconds. We kept the engine going for 10 minutes and then stopped the car. Without it being connected to the starter/Shumacher power source, the battery was so dead that it didn't even have enough power to turn on the dome light!

(P.S. for the cynical 3 men that asked about this item; please drop the negativity and read. The internet sure can get nasty. All I was saying was in this example that my sisters battery was dead and in bad shape but the charger still started the car. After I disconnected the charger and turned off the car, not even the dome light would go on. We then put the charger back on, started it again and drove to the store to get a new battery. You keep this in your trunk and when you want to jump a car, you bring it next to your battery. Attach the positive and negative connectors to your cars battery and it starts in an instant. It is amazing. It also has a meter to show if it needs to be charged and it has a bright light that can be turned on when it's dark outside, especially during a rain storm.

If you have a child in college or at home that drives, this is a must have. With so many dangerous situations with young college girls, this can bring them piece of mind. Obviously it's for anyone; wife, husband, or child.

It also has connectors that you can run electrical appliances for various times. It's not a generator so it will be for fairly short times but it will charge a cell phone very easily.

In this day in age no one can leave their gadgets at home, even when going camping! We just bought a used school bus that we hope to eventually convert to an RV, but for now it's just a bus..... & busses don't come with cigarette lighters! This is an inexpensive battery booster. No doubt it will do the job. However, it does not have an on/off switch for the cables. The cables remain hot even when clamped to their posts; I tested them with a voltmeter. This can be potentially dangerous if the battery charger is not secured in a vehicle and it rolls around in trunk. The battery cables are not very secure at all and tend to hang towards the sides. They can rub off. I can see sparks flying if the cables touch!

The positive cable tends to cover the 12 volt outlet. Very annoying. There is no cord. You must plug an extension cord into the back. The cables are quite short; they could use at least another six inches if not more.

No manual with this battery charger. You can download it from Schumacher at batterychargers.com .

Get the XP500 for $10 more. All these problems are solved and you get some more power along with a USB outlet.

I bought this back in February and had't had to use it until this morning (it's mid-November) when my car refused to start. I was a little trepidatious as there were mixed reviews when I bought it, the instructions state over and over that it needs to be recharged every 30 days and it's been at least 2 months since I last plugged it in; but I hooked it up, turned the key and vroom, my car came back to life. Could not have been simpler.

A couple minor inconveniences: The cables are awfully short, but long enough that I could connect them to the battery and rest the unit on my car frame without crossing any wires. And as others have stated, there's no cord to plug the unit in to charge it you need a 3-prong extension cord to do so, unless your outlets are situated perfectly to plug this directly into the wall.

When this very inexpensive charger arrived, it came with a tag listing two battery types it was good for. The list did not include Lithium Ion, which is the type used in in the LG Optimus. On-line research suggested that such chargers tend to be expensive because of the more complicated electronics needed to charge Lithium Ion batteries correctly. A query about this to vender yielded no response. On the theory that the electronic sophistication is built into the phone, which might be justified to protect and expensive device, I have used it several times.

The charger appears to work. The phone batteries are indicated as recharged. It remains unclear whether I am slowly damaging the storage ability of the batteries by using this charger.

I bought this charger for my LG Optimus V cell phone (same as LG Optimus S but for Virgin Mobile instead of Sprint).

I used it almost every day, usually for short periods of time, for almost three months. However, just recently it has stopped working almost completely.

When it is plugged into the phone, the charging indicator sometimes turns on and off, but usually it is off. If I move around the end that plugs into my phone, it sometimes charges again, but one slight movement will stop charging the phone again. I assume there is some kind of connection issue within the charger.

It was a cheap charger, so I guess I got what I paid for. I'm going to try to contact the seller on Amazon to see if they'll offer a replacement or refund, so I'll update this if anything happens.

EDIT: The seller offered to ship a replacement charger at no cost, and after receiving it a few days later, I've been using it for a few months without problems. I am concerned that it might break in the future, but at least for now it's working fine.

I bought the 14.4V with two batteries and it's a very nice tool. Mine was made in Taiwan. If I had it to do over again I'd probably go with the 12V due to the weight. The 14.4 is pretty big and I ended up making a shoulder strap since I use it for lubing a tractor with lots of grease fittings. I also went for two batteries thinking I might reach for it and have to wait for it to recharge. But you can leave a battery on trickle charge all the time so it will always be ready. Bottom line: the 12V with one battery is considerably cheaper and will also be lighter.

I bought this grease gun mainly for use on my Loader Backhoe which has over 40 grease fittings and usually uses over 14oz of grease every time I grease it. I have a air grease gun in my shop but I often leave my backhoe at the worksite. This grease gun goes any where with its case and extra battery and cut my grease gun time in half, it is very well made and should last a long time. There is no compairison between this Lincon and a cheaper cordless grease gun.

Next tested at a local bookstore and the same outcome.... battery life remained the same. The charger fits securely and is very small compared to many of the other similar chargers around so its easy to carry with you and doesn't make your beautiful iphone look like a brick when you're using it with the device attached.

My phone is a 3G and it does not charge it 100%, but more like 50% which is enough for me. So far its holding the charge over several days so it's ready for emergency use.

These things simply do not work. I even ordered a second one to make sure. They don't hold a charge (*at all*) which renders them pointless. Plus they have their own special USB cord which is just one more thing to lose. Or really, recycle as I'm doing since these are crap.

It's a shame because the design & size is good. And if it actually, you know, charged your phone, it would work well as the connection from the battery to the phone was snug and felt secure. As opposed to a different battery i have which is ungainly and the reliability of the connection is shakey at best but man, does it charge my phone on the go.

This product is very good. Very small quick to charge,very light and easy to use. I went and bought this product because of the short lived battery on both my ITouch and Iphone. I am always traveling and ending up with a dead Iphone/Itouch which can be rather troublesome.I have to say, it works above and beyond the price it is set at. I have tested it on both the IPhone and Itouch and have found that the product works no matter the battery level of either devices (compared to some I have tried that turned off or stopped working around 50%). If you want a device that will back up your phone in a pinch, this is it. It's pretty no-frills. As another reviewer suggested, the plastic cap will ultimately be lost somewhere eventually. It is also hard to remove. The device arrives with no instructions. I have not been successful in getting it to charge fully, though I have had it plugged in overnight. I can only get it to charge my phone about 30% before it is out of power. Also, any slight movement causes my iPhone 4 to throw out a "this device is not supported" notification...upon which time the device stops charging my phone. Sometimes this happens without any kind of movement of the phone. Finally, the device does not fit on a phone with any kind of case, so you'll have to remove that to fully seat the battery. If it had some sort of extender or the connector was just a smidge longer, that would be helpful. Next time, when I purchase one of these (and I see myself having to, given the limitations of this one) I will spend the $40 or whatever for a better backup device.

WARN 885005 PullzAll 24V Cordless Electric Pulling Tool

First of all, when you have a good, fully charged battery, it does what it was designed to do. I've used it to raise and lower a full 55 gallon feeder effectively. I would guess it at 400 lbs. My original AC charger died within the first month and one of the two batteries went bad within the first 3 months. Warn replaced them no questions asked although it was an inconvenience. I think the NIMH batteries were a questionable choice considering their spontaneous discharge rate of 1-2% without use. Lithium-ion would have been a better choice in my opinion. Overall, it does meet my needs but could stand improvement.

I like the winch but it has some limitations. Most noticeable is the battery life is short.

I'm building a house and I recently used the Pullzall to tilt up some engineered trusses that weighed 330 lbs. each. The winch was a life saver!!! The winch load varied from around 500 lbs to 0 lbs once the trusses went vertical. I was able to raise three trusses before the battery started to go low. With the second battery I kept on working. Since the winch doesn't free-wheel you have to power in and out which is a battery hog. If you leave the unit on (even without use) the batteries drain overnight. A battery charge takes about an hour and a half.

I have purchased a 30' synthetic cable hoping to get a more useful length on the winch. Although synthetics do abraid so I'm not sure??????

A remote pendant would be nice but the loads are low and the cable is stout. The variable speed is great for tightening but once taunt, you will be using the full speed, which is acceptable.

You have to make sure that the winch body does not come in contact with surrounding structure when pulling or else you will crack the plastic case or battery compartment. The unit is well made but plastic is plastic.

I do like this unit and would buy it again. You should check the duty cycle to make sure it will fit your needs. I won't be throwing away my chain falls and lever hoists but for light work this will be my first choice.

Does indeed have the power to pull. I use it to draw my Seadoo Speedster jetboat onto a jetdock. 5 more feet of cable would be nice, but not being able to free wheel out to the load is an unnecessary time consumer. Battery juice is adequate, and I'm glad they used NiMH batteries, no memory effect. You can charge them whenever to keep them ready to go. All in all a nice lightweight portable winch.

Item arrived in seven days which is faster than promised. I found panel quality to be fine for the price paid of 72 dollars which includes the controller and free shipping. It was very easy to hook up and works great. I use the solar panel to keep a 12v deep cycle battery charged for my electric bear fence. I used to have to charge the battery every two or three weeks to be sure it was up to par. With the solar panel hooked up I get a stronger shock all the time because battery remains fully charged which give me peace of mind, and should extend the battery life. I will be buying one of these for every bee yard I have.

This puts out the specified power. What I don't like is the general cheap feel of the units. The frame seems a little flimsy and there is no bypass diode in the junction box on the back.

I use this on top of my horse trailer to keep a battery charged. I use a marine battery to power the hydraulic ramp on my horse trailer and this solar panel does a fine job of keeping the battery juiced up.

This has been something that has moved from camping projects to automotive use and shown itself to be versatile and reliable.

Originally, we hooked this up to a 12VDC motorcycle battery for camping use. The built-in 5VDC USB charger will operate off the battery as well as the solar panel, giving us a charger for mobile phones, and the battery recharged (under tree cover/partial shade) each day enough to operate LED lighting all night.

Since then, it's been used in a few unscientific electrical experimentation rigs, and adapted to provide a battery tender for a Geo Metro with a slightly weak alternator, and has been flawless in any application. (It's no replacement for a 120VAC-type battery charger, but it's enough to keep the car "startable" when its alternator wasn't *quite* pushing enough charge.) We've hooked this up to LED lighting, electric fans, and a number of other things.

On the (negligible) downside: the non-removable cable from the solar panel to the controller pack is quite long, but a little awkward in some applications (simply by virtue of being non-removeable), and the alligator clips are not the best, but are easily supplemented or replaced. (Driving a steel bolt through the existing clips provides a more permanent screw-on terminal once their springs wear out, without severely altering the device.)

I got this specifically for the mp3 player aspects. It does have 2 outlets and a dc cigarette plug, though. I got such a killer price on auction that I figured if it sounded bad, I could still use it for a dc fan while camping.

I have a larger powerpack and I'm familiar with how they work. The instructions clearly state that the power remaining readout is NOT accurate until the unit sits idle and unplugged from anything for at least 15 minutes. The display while the unit is on is specifically stated to be used only as an estimate.

About the sound quality: I like techno/industrial/IDM. It is sometimes heavy on the bass. I have found the sound quality for my genre to be completely adequate. It is not my home stereo, but it does sound better than a boombox that I paid more for. The louder it is turned up, the worse the quality gets, as with most mid quality portable speakers. But, it has to get pretty loud for my ears to start balking at the noise. Really, it just doesn't sound that bad at all and I am pleasantly surprised, after having expected less. I plan to take it car camping and I won't be disturbing my neighbors with a too loud stereo, so this fits my bill perfectly.

The booklet says that the mp3 player has a minimum draw on the battery. I haven't played it till it has run out. I expect that it will run about 8 hrs or more. There are 4 speakers; 2 front, 1 each side. A flap on the front drops down to expose a recess where your mp3 player will be held with a large elastic band (I suppose it could just sit in there, too). You can use the line in to play the music or the usb to charge, or if your mp3 player allows, you can charge and play.

I plan to buy another for my daughter who lives on the beach. She doesn't want to take an extension cord to the beach and is sick of paying for batteries for a boombox that only plays cds. She'll be able to safely play her amplified mp3 player. Sweet!

I won't review the battery/powerpack itself. There are plenty of reviews under this model without the speakers. Just remember to keep it plugged in to maintain the battery with a trickle charge.

I had a hard time finding very many reviews for this. I hope this was helpful. Bottomline: Don't expect your home stereo. Think mid quality boom box. This is a great way to play all your mp3 music for a long time at a decent volume and with a decent sound quality.

I can't believe they are claiming that this unit delivers a good sound. It might be handy around the house, but get something else if you're looking for a portable stereo that sounds decent.

This is the best unit I have ever had. We own a campground and we carry it all over the place listening to music on our golf cart. Its very strong the sound is great very clean sounding. The battery last forever before you have to charge. Its nice to have as back up for electricty when needed. The lights are great for sitting around the lake and hearing music. The case its in is very strong. It is a heavy radio I don't recomend it for kids or elderly people.

This is a great idea, if only it would live up to it. I received this power pak and charged it for 48 hours as instructed. When I turned it on, it immediately dropped from 100 percent power to 90. When I plugged my mp3 player to it, it dropped to 70 percent before I played one song, and it went downhill from there.

The sound is terrible at any volume.

I figure the rechargeable battery was probably defective so I ended up having to return it.

The only pro to this order was Amazon's great service

The PowerPaqck Sound (PPS) is similar in design to the PowerPack SOLAR (no longer available). The PPS comes with stereo speakers and amplifier instead of the 4.5"X11.5" solar panel. I'm happy to have both units.

Since I don't care for MP3 Players I tested the PPS with my Sony CD player, my portable radio, and my 9" portable TV. For a portable system I think it's great. Really great. The AC outlets work and the plug-in to charge while the car runs also works. The lights work. I do wish they were independently controlled instead of both on or both off. They're on opposite ends of the unit. Anyway, everything that I tested works properly.

The instruction manual is straightforward and well written. It even includes instruction for charging with a solar panel. The PPA can recharge a cell phone (which I don't have), charge and power a tablet (which I do have), and either run/ or/and power other low power pleasurables.

One thing they left out was the ability to attach to a solar panel directly. This can be done with the addition of very small and inexpensive hardware (voltage controller?) and it is on other Xantex PowerPack units. This would also allow the unit to be connected to an outside battery for extra long utility between recharges.

The main thing I don't like is that the internal battery is not user replaceable. In five years or so, if I live that long, I'll have to check to determine if battery replacement by a local battery dealer is worth the cost. But by then Xantrex will probably have a better/stronger/lighter unit powered by rechargeable lithium batteries.

I did not purchase this product from Amazon, but it's so terrible I wanted to let people know not to buy it. In less than 3 months too late to return it to the store one of the outlet prongs broke right off. I stuck it back in and wrapped packing tape around it so I could still use it. A week later, the other prong broke off. Both prongs were stuck in the electrical outlet and I had to carefully remove them so I didn't electrocute myself. I paid just over $30 for this piece of trash. For $10 more, I could have purchased the Apple version.

I bought mine from Marshall's and it's new so I don't know if it will last but... It does what I wanted to which is charge an iPad and iPhone at the same time. Most dual port chargers won't do this but this one did without complaint. I'm happy so far.

I wish I read other review. It does not work. I tried it with my iphone. It just keeps beeping, turining on and off to the screen that shows the battery is charing (the battery does not charge). It does not work for my ipod. It locks in place and does not charge. It did not work for the ipad either.

After purchasing this item for my Tilt, I tried it out in my car and it didn't even work. I tried wiggling it around and it would work a little. Then I tried wiggling the micro usb charger part and after holding it at a certain angle did it work. Utter trash. I would recommend the Belkin Micro USB Auto Quick Charge 5V sold here on Amazon. Works perfectly for me plus I can charge all sorts of stuff with the USB charger. I usually charge my phone and GPS on it.

I bought it a year ago for my TyTN 2. The shipment was fast with no problem.

The adapter itself works fine so far. The power speed is so so but it is quite good for its price.

I have been shopping for a new trickle charger, too many toys. I have a battery tender plus and this optimate 3. I am kind of a battery freak. I keep things charged up on a rotating basis. That is I move the charger from one battery to the next in rotation. This thing is always on.

After / before charging I always use a digital volt meter to see where the battery is at.

The desulfate / restore mode must work. I have batteries of 16, 25 and 35 amp hours that show 12.7 to 13 volts and are all 5 years old or more. the Odyssey 625's in the waverunners are 6 years old and show 12.7 to 12.8 volts still.

The 25 amp sealed lead acid battery in my Cessna is 4 years old and still shows 13 volts. the 35 amp sealed lead acid battery in my Piper is 6 years old and still reads 13 volts. Amazing, I had always needed a new battery by the 3rd or 4th year before I used this charger.

I read a lot of bad reviews of the battery tender where the unit failed. This charger gets used a LOT, and in over 5 years works like the day I bought it. The old made in china battery tender plus I have works just fine, but no desulfate mode.
