After / before charging I always use a digital volt meter to see where the battery is at.
The desulfate / restore mode must work. I have batteries of 16, 25 and 35 amp hours that show 12.7 to 13 volts and are all 5 years old or more. the Odyssey 625's in the waverunners are 6 years old and show 12.7 to 12.8 volts still.
The 25 amp sealed lead acid battery in my Cessna is 4 years old and still shows 13 volts. the 35 amp sealed lead acid battery in my Piper is 6 years old and still reads 13 volts. Amazing, I had always needed a new battery by the 3rd or 4th year before I used this charger.
I read a lot of bad reviews of the battery tender where the unit failed. This charger gets used a LOT, and in over 5 years works like the day I bought it. The old made in china battery tender plus I have works just fine, but no desulfate mode.
