SKIL 2372-01 7.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Power Wrench

As with any tool, how "good" it is perceived to be is usually based on our intended use. With that being said, this is a very good tool and is also being offered at a good price. Buy it locally and you will have to pay sales tax. Buy it online for a few dollars cheaper and you will have to pay shipping. I certainly wouldn't buy a bunch for resale, but for light duty and small chores, this tool will get the job done.

If you need a mechanic's type tool set for work; this tool is not for you. If you want a tool capable of busting loose lug nuts to change tires, this tool is not useful for that. You get the point, this tool is not an "All in one", "Do Everything" tool nor is it advertised as being one.

What this tool does do well is handle small jobs around the house. I have many corded and cordless tools as well as a couple of air tools. I use those for my heavy work. However, for around the house, this kind of tool can't be beat for convenience. It's lightweight, can get into small spaces and if the power isn't quite enough for what you are loosening or tightening, then you can use it like a manual wrench and it will do whatever your muscles will allow you to do.

The instruction manual that comes with this tool states that you should break a nut/bolt loose in the tool's manual mode (or do the final tightening), and THEN use this tool in the powered mode to finish screwing or unscrewing the bolt/nut/screw. This tool WILL NOT break loose a very tight bolt/nut in the powered mode and it WILL NOT tighten a bolt/nut sufficiently in the power mode. However, used per the manufacturer's instructions, IT WILL properly handle a surprising number of small jobs and beats hauling a heavy tool bag around for small, simple jobs. I find myself using this tool more and more because of its convenience. That's what I bought it for.

This is "only" a 1/4" drive, however, get a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter (very inexpensive) and a whole lot of other sockets become useable. My biggest gripe with my cordless tools is that when I reach for one when I have a small job to do and I find that the battery has drained just sitting on the shelf. NiCad batteries are notorious for this and defeats the purpose of a cordless tool for me (for occasional use). This tool has the newest and best in cordless battery technology namely a Lithium-Ion battery. Lithium-Ion batteries don't have the same problems as NiCad batteries. Lithium-Ion batteries hold their charge even after sitting for months at a time not in a charger. Not only that, but the Lithium-Ion batteries last longer than NiCad's and don't develop "memory". That means that you will get more uses out of this battery before it starts loosing the ability to accept a full charge.

I don't like to see a tool get knocked unfairly. Most of us have heard the saying "Use the right tool for the right job", and the same holds true here. For a tool to use around the house, this one would be very convenient and do the job most would need for light work. Even if you are a professional who uses hand and power tools on your job, this tool could still have a place among your other tools. This tool is well above just a power screwdriver and as I stated previously, if it doesn't have enough power for what you are use it for, then use it manual mode. If that's not enough power for the job, then you are using the wrong tool. I am an ex-mechanic and a certified tool nut. I've done construction/ destruction and many other tool related jobs in between. I own more tools than I realistically will ever need, however, I'm glad I picked up one of these tools to have around the house for when I just want to grab something for a light job and have the battery still charged when I reach for it and let me get a small project done. This it does very well.

Just some food for thought.

I too have had similar problems as others on this product but I would consider it a HUGE PROBLEM! The tool completely died for absolutely no reason after about 9 months of ownership with very little (or lite) usage. The charger light just remains lit a solid green (indicating a full charge) with or without the Skil Wrench in the charger. When I do place the Skil wrench on the charger there is no change in the led color light. Either the tool or charger is completely dead?!

The couple times I did use the Skil wrench though it was very handy and cool tool and would love to have a replacement but I am very hesitant as I am reading other owners are having similar issues. Not good! Absolutely disappointed that the tool would just die for no apparent reason. It was working the last time I used the tool, afterwards I placed the tool onto the charger and came back a month or two later and now the tool is completely dead. Arrrg!

Like I said, wouldn't mind having another one but I don't see that happening based on my experience on the MTBF Quality of the tool along with other experiencing similar issues. Real shame!

I just got this a few weeks ago for Christmas and already used it a few times. Was thrilled with the offset capabilities of the tool. It may be called a wrench (and it's main job is) but with the adapter and bits that come with the set I have used it for offset and tight driving problems also (phillips, torx, hex, etc.) A pleasure to have in my tool collection.

The charger works great for traveling and home. When I first got it through the mail I tried the USB and the wall charger, and they worked perfectly. The wall and car chargers both worked perfectly; the wall charger has been used at least 5 times, the car charger only once. I don't pull the retractable cord out very far, but as long as you pull both sides out at the same time, the spring retracts it decently. Inexpensively made, but it works.

This is a perfect addition to my growing iPhone arsenal. The only reason this review is 4 stars and not 5 is because the cord is quite short--it does not reach from a wall outlet to the shelf where my phone lives while it is charging about 4 feet above the outlet. It is about the same length as the cord that came with my iPhone though. So other than having to buy yet another cord, the product is great and does exactly what it says.

This thing does what it is advertised to do. It will charge your phone in your car. As a pizza delivery driver, I use my LG Optimus slider primarily for the Navigation feature. That tends to drain the battery on it pretty quick, and I can't have my phone die before the end of my shift. So I bought this thing for a solution but a few weeks later it's kinda broken. The cord that is connected to the micro USB bit that goes into the phone has separated and now it will only charge my phone if I hold in certain positions. I imagine it would work fine for someone who wasn't as rough on their things as I am. But with how cheap this thing is, I'd still say it's worth the money.

With several vehicles, trucks and tractors this makes changing tires a snap. It also zips bolts of of almost anything. You will probably need an adapter kit as there doesn't appear to be a universal size for impact sockets.

Similar to the Sanyo "eneloop", the Hybrid is also advertised to have low self-discharge rate, but not as low as that for eneloop. The eneloop is supposed to retain 85% charge in 12 months (when stored at 20 degree C), whereas the Hybrid is supposed to retain 80% charge in 6 months (no mention of temperature).

On the other hand, the capacity for the Hybrid is rated at 2100mAh, which is slightly higher than that for the eneloop (2000mAh). I have tested both brands and can confirm that both ratings are accurate. In actual applications, the difference in performances between Hybrid and eneloop cells is probably negligible. So it all comes down to price. Unfortuantely, this Hybrid package offered here is just not a good value compared to similar eneloop packages.

The charger included here is a timer-based dumb charger. It forces you to charge cells in pairs (either 2 or 4), and it does not know whether the cells are fully charged. It simply charges at around 350mA for 8 hours and turns off (obviously it was designed for 2500-2700mAh batteries, because 350mA*8hr=2800mAh). In contrast, the chargers included in eneloop packages are "smart", in the sense that they charge cells individually, and stop whenever each cell is full.

Unless prices for the Rayovac Hybrid batteries come down significantly, I'll say stay with the Sanyo eneloop.

This charger is perfect for you Rayovac rechargeable batteries. It does have indicator lights that give the status of the charge. I like the older style better that red LEDs since they turned off when the charge was complete. This changes the indication (steady to flashing). The batteries get quite hot when charging, but this is normal. The Rayovac rechargeables are super batteries. They hold their charge in the camera or device as well as in a zip lock bag inside my camera bag unlike other NiCd type batteries. I only use these types of batteries now in my Canon i5is and the associated Canon flash, and I also use them in a set of noise canceling headphones (AAA). The storage lifetime and use lifetime is exceptional. The charger can charge AAA or AA and even paired mixes of each kind (e.g., 2 x AAA and 2 x AA).

I bought this as a replacement for the one that came with my trailer. The original one failed because of a wiring short in the trailer. The new one works great!

After extensive tests I found this charger to be really lacking in its abilities to maintain a consistant charge. The charge rate is so slow you'll need too many hours to get the battery back up to proper charge and the float level is too low for a AGM battery. Do yourself a favor and buy the one made by Tekonsha (not available on Amazon).

I've had an hour-plus commute cross country each way to work for the past 14 years, and have used FM transmitters since the early iPods to listen to audiobooks. When I purchased the original iPhone, the Monster transmitter I had been using no longer was compatible with the phone feature, and I've tried in vain ever since to find a replacement that works. Based on the good reviews for other Satechi products, I ordered this one and have been pleasantly surprised. It's an elegant design and it works beautifully. Although you have two station presets, I've only used the first one I set it to. I've found you don't really have to keep it on an unused part of the dial--it will overpower any signal and take over the station. You can basically set it and forget it. I highly recommend it!

This is my 2nd attempt at a Satechi FM Transmitter, the first one they sent me had a range of about 6 inches, which wasn't far enough to make practical -when I wrote Satechi customer service, the sent me a more powerful transmitter to replace the one I had at no cost.

New one works fine I can mount my iphone4 in my car on the other side of the steering wheel-and listen to Pandora or my iTunes from the car's FM Transmitter.

I wish that Satechi advertised better because this product is great and I only heard of it recently from a friend who owned it. The transmission is much clearer than expected from an fm transmitter. I saw other options for less than $10 but I did not purchase based on how cheap it was because I knew it would be a terrible transmission and have no music clarity. But the Satechi really is the next best thing compared to listening CDs in the car. In addition, if you have others in the car, you can freely pass them the ipod and it will not affect the sound clarity.

The only problem I found with the Satechi is that it does get annoying to find the perfect radio station that is clear throughout your area. This problem is blatent while driving between multiple states. The Satechi does save two stations so it helps a little.

I was pleasantly shocked when the product came a few days before the promised shipping date. I was also happy that it came with a car charger even though it was not stated in the product details. So in the worst possible scenario that you cannot find a good fm station, you get an ipod car charger or you can return the product. All in all, I would buy the Satechi. I hope this review helped.

If this item hadn't come with a charger the rating would suffer. I truly appreciate this device in the fact it has provided the means to break away from local radio here in Milawaukee. But I have experienced no benefit from the wireless capability. If the transmitter moves just a little ways from the radio static overwhelms my speakers. So once my iPhone is connected it must stay put or in real close proximity to the radio. So this makes switching apps difficult. And of course the annoying static. The charger is the incentive to purchase this item.

It's small, slick, fits perfectly and comes with a car charger just for good measure. When I first fired it up I found a station with no music, nothing but static coming through and set it to that: all I got was static. Tried a number at the other end of the dial...more static. I was getting pissed. Then I set it to a station that already had music coming through: BAM! my music comes blasting through. I don't know why or how it works that way but it works for me. So take some time and find the sweet spot.

So far I am impressed with this charger.

Pros:

Operation is simple, cool to the touch, and essentially silent. The charging cycles are relatively quick, the unit is very compact (much more so than the picture implies about the size of a small purse), this charger is approved for the Odyssey line of "dry" cell AGM batteries (see the Odyssey website), and it charges more than the Odyssey line of batteries (unlike the Odyssey branded chargers that are very expensive).

Cons:

Limited charging capability (8 Amps), no digital display for battery parameters (% charged, volts, Amps etc.).

** Update ** Cheap/flimsy clamps. The positive terminal clamp handle bent when squeezing it to attach to a battery terminal. I will be contacting SOLAR to determine how they will handle this issue I will update this review with the results. **

For note: I would have purchased one of the larger chargers in the SOLAR line if one of the larger chargers was on the Odyssey approved charger list. This is the only reason I rated this at 4 stars.

Nevertheless, I highly recommend this charger.

I have an Odyssey battery that requires a special charger that is approved by the company. I tried an Odyssey OMAX-12A-1B charger and liked it except that the cooling fan runs constantly and is annoyingly loud. I returned it and found out that this charger is approved by Odyssey. It's also about $25 cheaper, too. This charger, unlike the OMAX-12A-1B, can also charge other non AGM batteries, so that's another plus over the OMAX.

I've had my charger for about six months, and it works well. I'm hoping it will keep my Odyssey battery well conditioned, but time will tell. I killed my first Odyssey battery when I naively used a Sears trickle charger on it.

I'm overall satisfied with my travel charger. I constantly listen to my ipod at work. We run linux boxes so it isn't really an option to plug my ipod mini into my towerso this provides a nice alternative. I also didn't feel like shelling the $20-30 for the official USB charger or a base station.

-the charger seems to screw with the scroll wheel. When my mini is plugged in, the volume will jump up and down like its receiving mixed signals. (menu, pause/play, other buttons seem to work fine) [quick work-around, unplug the charger for 2 seconds, use the wheel, plug it back in].

Overall i think the important parts are that it works and its cheap. If you want something pretty and seamless, look elsewhere.

When I first got this charger and started using it I thought it was great. It did what it was supposed to do. Why the one star then? After about two weeks it just stopped working. It didn't fall or anything. It died about two weeks after I got it. I can't really complain though, after all it cost me 5 bucks.

Its a great item, but I bought it from MyGearStore it was rip off with shipping prices. The desciptions says $4.49 flat rate shipping and I check out with MYGearStore and they charge me $7.50 shipping. That was some rip off shipping charges, get it from someone else!!!!! Like the manufacture that makes this from iggfactory or something.

the product works great but the shipping charges are just scandalous. i reccommend getting it directly from the manufacturer. however, here it is still a lot cheaper than getting an adaptor directly from apple. i was NOT going to pay thirty bucks!

I received this item on time when promised. The installation couldn't have been easier. Red cable from Positive battery terminal to isolator then Red Cable from Isolator to second battery positive terminal. Ground isolator with black cable to vehicle body or frame. Ground second battery to body or frame and your ready to go. No need to connect alternator to isolator with this product. So far it works perfect!

Bought this for my car's four security camera's. Without it, my car battery always died in two days. Now no worries. When i go on vacation for a week, the battery is at 25%. I start the car with no problems and the second battery charges up. Thanks

Disappointed.

I used this kit to install a dual battery setup on my boat along with a Blue Sea 7650 switch. I ended up using the Blue Sea voltage sensing relay as this one feels cheap and did not make me have confidence in its ability to do the job over the long run. The kit needs to come with at least double the amount of tinned copper lugs (the cable ends that connect to the terminals) because there is simply not enough in this kit. I had to go to my local autoparts store and buy more to complete my install. The same was true with the shrink wrap....simply not enough to do a complete install. I guess they don't expect you to install a switch along with it...but how do they expect you to control the power if you don't install a switch along with it.

In the end I would have saved money if I would have just bought the tinned copper lugs and wire separate.

I received this order quickly which is a good thing because I really did need it. The drawback is that the home wall charger, after a few weeks, broke apart (the end part came off). As for the USB and car charger...perfect (still working).

Well....no, BUT, this thing has the most incredible battery life of ANY rechargeable item I've ever seen. I charge this thing only about once a month. I do turn it off most of the time I leave my car, although I do occasionally leave it powered on all night. The battery is just made to last and you'll be blown away by that feature alone. My previous Motorola BT speakerphone was on the charger 1-2 times per week.

As for the speakerphone, it could be a little louder; I have to quell any ambient noises, including the AC if it's on full blast, in order to really hear people. For the most part, they seem to hear me fine very few complaints. I am using it in a minivan, so it likely works better in a smaller cabin where one might be a little closer to it. If you drive an older car with a lot of cabin noise, it might not be loud enough.

I also like that it uses a micro-USB cable for charging, since that is the most commonly used for cell phones and it means I can charge it anywhere, just like my phone. It paired easily with my old Samsung Galaxy S, and just as well with my Galaxy S II. After pairing it once, it always and immediately connects with my phone when I turn it on.
