Sportsman GEN7000LP 7000-Watt 13-HP OHV Propane-Powered Portable Generator

Sportsman GEN7000LP 7000-Watt 13-HP OHV Propane-Powered Portable GeneratorI bought this at the end of winter to replace my old gasoline powered one after it wouldn't start (due to the ethanol in the gas gumming up the engine) during an ice storm. I was planning to be prepared for this coming winter. I never imagined I would be using it a few months later when a tornado whipped through our neighborhood and county just before Memorial Day. We were fortunate and only without power for 4 days, but this generator came through with flying colors. I hadn't even taken it out of the box and really wasn't at all prepared for this storm. I didn't have the battery in yet so we had to manually pull start. I have neck issues but it wasn't that difficult and started quickly each time. The brochure says you will get around 8 hours on a half load, ...NOT. Try figuring on 4 to 5. Didn't seem to matter what we ran that was the average. At $20 bucks a little 20lb bottle we got into a rhythm of running it noon to 5pm for the heat of the day and again at night 10pm to 3am for showers and such.

I planned to have a large 100lb or maybe 250lb propane tank to have on hand for this winter. The initial investment of 7 additional tanks to add to my two I had for the grill cost around $300. We used 8 bottles total being conservative with the use. Off of that I supplied my house and my daughters house (next door) with power to run a refridgerator and fan, while I ran a freezer and refriderator and fan. We also had an outlet on for charging cell phones. I would turn on the hot water heater to charge it but would turn off some of the refridgerators just to be conservative. We are on a well, so it also had a big draw whenever the pump kicked on.

All and all I am delighted with my purchase, and will make sure to have plenty of propane in place for this winter! (we live on the side of the mountain and you can't always drive up the road). The nice thing about the propane it has a long shelf life unlike the gasoline powered units, so I can relax and know it will be good for a few years not a few months.

Hope this was helpful...

This generator was purchased through an Amazon partner(CSN) arrived ahead of schedule and in perfect shape thanks to R+L Carriers!

I did not have a battery on hand yet to use the electric starter but the pull rope worked very well! After connecting it to the propane, it took about 3 pulls to start for the first time and it ran perfectly. The choke handle is kind of flimsy, but we didn't need to use it. It is a bit louder than I expected, but I don't have prior experience with a generator to compare it to.

The assembly directions are not as easy as they could be, so it took a few extra minutes to figure out how to attach the handle and wheels, etc. That was not a big problem though. We plugged in several small items to see how they would do and it had no trouble running them.

We decided to get the 30 pound(7 1/2 gallons) cylinder of propane for this just to add a little more run time than I could get with a grill sized cylinder and will probably buy 1 more cylinder as a back up.

I would highly recommend this generator for the ease of use and great price!

This generator is simply awesome. It was shipped on a truck equipped with a liftgate making delivery very easy for me and my 2 wheel dolly.

The generator instructions to get the wheels on could be better. I read other reviews that mentioned this. So, I downloaded the manual from buffalo tools and studied the blow up diagram and read the installation process. This made things much easier for me and quicker. A few screws here and there with metric wrenches and I was done. All I had to do was add oil up to the bottom of the lip where the oil plug is inserted as stated on the manual.

It started with the first pull. Setup is easy. Attach the propane hose to the generator and propane tank, open propane nozzle, turn VERY LARGE switch on generator to "on" position, close choke, pull hand starter. Super easy.

Haven't used under load but I'm sure it will perform nicely. I purchased a used 100 lb propane tank. This thing will run for about 40 hours on 50% load before the tank runs out. 80 hours if I buy another and connect them together. Also, there is no "low oil" light. It will simply turn off and won't start if there isn't enough oil.

Say goodbye to gumed up carbs and expensive gasoline. Propane is the way to go.

July 2nd, 2012: Micro burst killed power across town. Gas station even closed (pumps run off electricity). Neighbor had to drive all over to find gas. I rolled out my 100 lb propane tank. Powered entire house: 2 window AC units, 1 central AC, 2 refrigerators, lighting and I did a load of laundry by the time he got back.

I posted a pic of my setup, both inside and outside.

Finally had an opportunity to put this to a real test. Purchased this item as the area is plagued by power outages typically a few hours at a time and do not want to deal with gasoline due to the risk of the gas going bad and propane is currently cheaper than gas per gallon. Primary appliance needed to back up is sump pump, secondary appliances three refig/freezers.

Setup:

To supply constant power without swapping out propane cylinders, I had my energy company install a quick connect box via a T connection off the main line from a 100 gallon tank which primarily supplies my cooking stove. This setup would allow me provide constant power for approx. 8 days before requiring a refill. I did not setup the gen with a battery for the auto start feature. My philosophy is the less the better. The more parts something has the more likely something will go wrong with it.

Event:

Due to Hurricane Sandy we lost power for 68 hrs. The Sportsman 7000 ran straight the whole time providing power to a 1/2 hp sump pump, 2 refrigerators and 1 freezer, TV, lights, computer. When needed to run other appliances we would unplug refrigerator or freezer to run microwave oven or washer/dryer.

Event2:

Prior to Hurricane Sandy we lost power for 7 hrs. during a bad thunderstorm. This was prior to the above setup and ran the Sportsman 7000 off of a 20 lb cylinder. This event happened during the peak of summer in the evening when temps were high. The gen provided power to everything above including a 12000 btu window air conditioning unit. After the power came back on there was still fuel left.

Summary:

I would recommend this generator to others as propane does not go bad, burns more efficiently, and is more readily available during a power outage than gasoline. My decision to go with this generator was because I did not want a permanent unit fixed to the house and wanted the mobility so the unit will see more use. Instructions could be better documented.

I love this generater more then any I have had before . I have had 5. For a non permanent generator it is perfect. I purchased a 30lb can of propane for it and I start it once a month. It starts first pull and hits on the first turn with the electric starter. Can't wait for the power to go out so I can use it. I have used it to run out door lights, drills, saws and chargers. Easy to move around and I built a table to house it off the patio. Not too big and not to small.

Garmin zumo 220 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Motorcycle GPS Navigator

Garmin zumo 220 3.5-Inch Bluetooth Motorcycle GPS Navigator
  • Bluetooth wireless technology via compatible headset
  • Lane assist directs you to the preferred lane while driving
  • Rugged, waterproof case that resists fuel sprays and UV rays
  • High-resolution, glove-friendly 3.5-inch touchscreen display
  • Turn-by-turn directions with spoken street names

The Zumo is a great motorcycle GPS but it does have its flaws.

The first thing you'll notice is that the Zumo doesn't come with a printed users guide. Garmin expects you to download the PDF version. It was easy to find on-line and this approach is fine since we're all supposed to be going green. What ships in box is a quick start guide. The web site says "installation instructions" are included but this is not accurate. The only installation information is contained in the quick start guide. It's pretty basic but more than adequate unless you want to attempt installing the wiring harness. If you plan on using the wiring harness you need to know how to tap into the electrical on your bike and handle all of the cable routing yourself or take it to a pro for assistance. (One note on the wiring harness: the cable doesn't include anything to cover the USB/power connector so if you install the harness and don't have the GPS unit plugged in the end of the power adapter is fully exposed to the elements.)

The second thing you'll notice is the device doesn't come with a wall charger. There is the permanent wiring harness and a car charger but they didn't include a wall charger. With a battery life of almost 8 hours I planned on just charging the unit at night and skipping the wiring harness since nearly all of my rides are under 8 hours. For the cost of the unit I was disappointed that I had to scavenge to find a power charger.

The battery life provided on Garmin's website states "up to 8 hours". I think this is a bit of a stretch. If you turn the volume off, turn the screen brightness down to under 50% (the default), and turn off Bluetooth you can get close to 8 hours. When riding with voice prompts, screen brightness at 80 to 90 (on a sunny day) and Bluetooth enabled I was able to get just over 5 hours of battery life. Still very respectable and more than most motorcyclists need for a single day.

One of the nicest features of the Zumo 220 is the ability to plan your routes on your PC and load them on to the GPS unit using Garmin City Navigator. It's easy to install but the unlock code, which is needed to use the maps, comes on a non descript yellow sheet that looks like something you should simply ignore or throw away. You need this special yellow sheet so be careful or you'll be explaining to your wife why you're digging through the garbage! Once installed and unlocked City Navigator is great. It's easy to use and simple to transfer routes to and from the GPS unit.

The GPS unit itself is a nice size but a little thick. If you're thinking you'll just throw this unit into your back pocket you can but there are two issues. First the unit is thicker than you expect and you will be aware of the bulge in your back pocket it's not a petite unit. Second there is no power lock and it's very easy to turn the unit on when inserting the unit into your pocket or when moving around. It would have been better to have some sort of power button lock. I've resorted to removing the battery from its waterproof compartment, which is easy and quick to do.

The user interface is very intuitive and most of the data fields presented on main page can be customized, even when in motion. The keyboard is easy to use and has two modes that basically change the size of the buttons on the screen to make it easier to use when wearing gloves.

One nice feature is the fuel tank alert. Just enter the total mileage you expect to get from a tank of fuel and how many miles before empty that you want warnings and the unit keeps track of everything. Interesting note: the unit has multiple modes like driving, motorcycling, scooter etc. The only mode that fuel tank alerts work is when in motorcycle mode.

Another solid feature of the unit is if you do switch between a motorcycle and a car the Zumo 220 remembers your preferences for the route types of each mode. This makes it nice not having to reprogram anything when going between modes.

I have encountered a few issues with custom voices downloaded from the Garmin Garage. On at least one of the custom voices the unit seems to get confused and reboots on occasion. Changing back to the preinstalled voices seems to have fixed this quirky problem.

I have a big v-twin and my bike has a healthy dose of vibrations, especially when accelerating or using engine braking. The Zumo 220 is rugged enough to handle the vibrations with ease and the RAM mounts that came with the unit work great. One note on the u-bar attachment for the handlebar: If you have larger handlebars than 1 inch you're going to need to run out to your local hardware store to get a larger u-bar. If you've got a 7/8" 1", like most people, you'll be fine.

Overall the Zumo 220 is a high quality unit that's easy to use, rugged and ready to hit the road. Just plan on doing a little extra shopping for things that Garmin should have included, especially given the high price point of this unit.

I bought this to replace a Zumo 450 that was badly flawed from the day I got it. I annoyed me to have to spend so much money to replace something a year and half old, but I needed it desperately.

Cons

--The screen is really small

--Unlike previous generations, the controls are all touch screen. I liked the real buttons on the 450

--There is only one view in the trip computer. I liked the old one with the speed displayed largely in the middle

--MapSource is still pathetic. Transferring routes to the device is very slow and difficult. You have to cross check every route at large detail to find out if you did something like put a waypoint on the wrong side of a multiple lane road (which will lead MapSource to route you off the interstate at the next exit and go back to pick up that waypoint, then get you back on your desired route). Also, it is vital to set the route recalculation on manual or MapSource will occasionally decide to play practical jokes like routing you on dirt logging roads.

--Getting from menu to menu is more complex. There were times I had to hit "back" 3 or 4 times to return to the map

Pros

--Much faster to react and calculate than the 450

--Instant on

--The display, while small, is sharp

--Like the speed limit display on the side of the map

--You are able to decide which information shows at the bottom corner of the map from about 10 different things (arrival time, distance to destination, average speed, etc)

--The 220 comes with a car mount and charger and these were additional with the 450

Unlike the 450, the 220 does not have a locking screw to connect it to the RAM mount. I miss this because I used to feel comfortable running in for a coffee break with the device left mounted. The 220 is removed with only a flip lever, so I have to disconnect it and put it in my sidebags or pockets every time I leave the bike.

Unlike the 450, the 220 comes with bluetooth but that is sort of irrelevant to me.

The 220 uses a micro SD card instead of a regular one. These tiny little boogers are hard to install.

Of course, the big question is whether a Zumo is worth twice the cost of a Nuvi with similar features. I rode 920 miles in the two days after my Zumo arrived and hit some rain, so it was really nice to not have to stop and put a baggie over it.

1> I sold my Nuvi 500 and bought the Zumo 220 so that I could have bluetooth audio.

The problem is that the GPS connects as a BT Cell Phone and not a BT Audio device. This means I can't connect my bluetooth cell phone to my Cardo Scala Rider G4 headset and make phone calls if the headset is paired to the GPS. My confirmation of the GPS's connection type was made by connecting the GPS to my Sony bluetooth radio; no sound plays if I have the radio set for BT Audio, only for BT Cell Ph.

Cardo weighed in on the matter and said:

When using the Garmin Zumo 220 with our headsets you will not be able to have any other bluetooth connections paired to the G4 or you will contunue to have connection issues. This GPS will not allow a headset and phone to have parallel connections that will allow all devices to communicate.

2> I wanted to use the GTM 25 FM Traffic adapter with the unit and use the GTM 25's USB plug instead of the hardwired plug that came with the cradle.

You can't do this because the GTM 25's USB plug is longer. The design of the cradle is such that there is a pocket to press on the end of the USB connector, holding this in. The standard one fits; the traffic one does not. So, you have a motorcycle GPS which supports traffic, but not on a motorcycle. I may try one of my Nuvi 500 holders which have an opening for the USB connector.

3> I bought this GPS because it has large letters for typing names.

You select which portion of the alphabet you want to see and you get a handful of large letters. The problem is the erase button in the upper right corner. It is not large. Good luck trying to press it with large gloves on. No typos allowed.

You get a lot for the Money. Comes with the Motorcycle Mount and the Automobile windshield Mount and the wiring to hard wire it into your motorcycle. A USB wire to connect to Computer. Does not come with a household wall plug charger. Also comes with a Car cigarette lighter plug to charge it and enable you to use it while driving down the road. Battery only last about 8 hrs otherwise. Just snaps out of the Motorcycle Cradle and snaps right into the Car windshield suction cup cradle. Has a large screen and an easy touch screen to manuever around. I like the on/off button on the top. Does all the things you now expect from a GPS.

Gives data fields such as odometer, Speed, heading, elevation, time to turn, arrival distance, arrival time, via distance, via arrival time, time to Via, stopped time, moving time, total time, and a few worthless fields such as sunrise, sunset, moving average speed, overall average speed, and maximum speed, and has a compass for walking, Very user friendly. Has a calculator, worthless world clock, worthless Unit Converter. Shows 2 data fields and zoom number and time when viewing the map and with a quick touch you can access all the data fields which I like to see.

All the screen Icons are Really large and the touch screen works really well. Talks to you very clearly and names the streets you are going to turn on. Has lane assist to make sure your in the proper lane to make the correct turn ahead. Sound mute if you don't want to hear anything and One of my favorites, You can shut the recalculating feature off.

Can tap into the bluetooth for your phone only. Got to have special set up for that too. Doesn't play bluetooth Music. They can probably cut the cost down eliminating that feature account most motorcycle riders can't hear anything anyway while moving 50-100 mph down the road. I see that as a worthless option.

You can put Pictures on it if you want. I don't see me using that feature. I guess you can use it to identify land marks you want to route to such as the space needle or something, or your pets picture for something to drool on while you driving/riding.

If you have 3 or 4 routes made up on you computer and want to transfer them to the Zumo you can only do one at a time not all at once. Then you have to go to another step "My Data" and import the route. Kinda a 2 step process that should only be one step.

DVD Software goes on the Computer realitively easy. Had a little trouble with some of the unlock process of the Map Source City Navigator North America NT. Called Garmin, got somebody immediatley, which blew me away, and within a couple minutes I was off the phone and enjoying my new Zumo 220.

OK so after all that I would highly recommend this Zumo 220. Everything is large and easily accessable and extremely user friendly. The price is a little steep and probably has some features you ain't gonna use. But if you buy one your not going to be sorry. It is a rugged unit and I love it. Go buy one for yourself!

Aside from the slow performance of the software, and the expensive updates, there is an even bigger problem with Garmin. If you need parts or service, you will be severely disappointed.

I dropped my unit and cracked a part of the frame. The part that cracked came off the unit, but you can easily see that a replacement part would just snap into place. Problem is, they do not offer any parts for sale and have no way of obtaining them since they are manufactured in Korea. Since my unit is just beyond warranty, it would cost me $120 (minimum) to send the unit in and have them replace it with a refurbished one.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I was on the phone for 40 minutes before I was able to even get this level of non-service.

No more Garmin for me. Ever.

***UPDATE: MAY 2012****

After updating the maps on my Garmin device last week, it stopped working. I phoned their support (again, I had to wait over 40 minutes before speaking to a human), and after 15 minutes of troubleshooting, the rep on the phone finally found out that the latest map update was known to render my particular device useless. Can you believe this? I was told I had to return my unit, and then they would send me a new (or reconditioned) one.

I just checked the status of my case, and guess what? They are BACKORDERED on my device.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANY GARMIN PRODUCTS UNDER ANY CONDITION! Their service and support is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I thought I was supporting a domestic company, but I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

The device functions fine as a multi-port charging station but I've realized it's causing static on my radio. The only way I knew this was that the charger got loose and when I pushed it back in the static came back. It's somehow interfering with the signal.

CableForge 12v Vehicle Car Charger for Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch cell phone coiled stretch power charger micro USB 4ftIts a cheap charger, it does the job. It doesnt stay plugged in very well ( the cord is realy shortshort) but when it is charging its fairly quick.

This product lasted a few months until its started sending an inconsistent amount of current to my phone. then the face of the product which illuminates in blue fell off. the product is of poor quality and surprisingly enough , the one I bought from cellphoneshop.net for $2.00 has lasted longer than this product did. This product claimed to be made specifically for my Galaxy s2 phone. Based on the way the phone was reacting right before the product stopped working, it was going to destroy my phone. Be very careful about the type of charger you buy for your very expensive cell phone because it can send a bad current through to your phone and fry it.

I feel like I am the victim of being a little juvenile in my efforts to get a charger. It had a nice pretty blue glow to it and said it was made for my phone. Buy a $2.00 piece of crap on cellphoneshop.net. this retailer sells garbage with a pretty blue glow!

DLO TransCast FM Transmitter for MP3 Players

DLO TransCast FM Transmitter for MP3 Players
  • Tiny device broadcasts music over any available FM radio frequency.
  • Simple one-handed frequency tuning and back light control via joystick.
  • Includes rechargeable battery, connection cable, and car charger.

I know this product has received mixed reviews. All I can say is it works for me.

1) I drive a Honda, the radio is set up in 0.2mhz increments. If I can find a dead station, anyone can.

2) Max the volume on your player

3) Cigarette lighter adapter works well.

I have used around town and on long trips (5-8 hours). The only thing you need to be aware of is having to hunt for a new station as you drive X distance.

Sound quality can be controlled by the player, as the transmitter uses the headphone jack.

If your going to bass boost the player, set the radio to flat until you hear what it sounds like.

I use mine with a Creative Zen Vision:M. Does the job, and does it for a reasonable price.

It's decent for the price. real small. it has a great range on it. i leave it in my bedroom and listen to it all over the house. it has clear sound and signal as well. i guess it all depends on your configuration :).

Read Best Reviews of DLO TransCast FM Transmitter for MP3 Players Here

The DLO TransCast FM device seems like a great idea. It is small and packaged nicely. I thought I was getting a great deal at $20, but the device was intermittent and staticy from day one. After I gave up on it, I tore the device open and discovered a cracked solder joint on the socket where the power jack plugs in. Even though the root cause could have been a cold solder joint (manufacturing problem), I suspect failure was because the tiny socket wasn't mechanically secured. The force of plugging in the jack was borne completely by the PC board pad and solder.

Want DLO TransCast FM Transmitter for MP3 Players Discount?

The problem with is with impedance. Yes, it works with my Zen MP3 player. No, it doesn't work with my ATT Tilt Cellphone. The problem is the impedance is different. The DLO wants low impedance..like for a typical headset. My cellphone puts out a high impedance to its headset.

So, the issue can be resolved for $2.99. Go to Radio Shack and buy the 8 ohm-to-1000 ohm audio transformer. You'll need to do a little soldering, but it works. Why didn't they incorporate different impedanc einto the device? YOu can figure it cost more that way

I am a happy owner of this product -and I get excited, especially nowadays, when I come across such a great buy in a sea of mediocrity in electronics.

The most important thing to note about this FM transmitter is that it uses the entire FM range. Also the product's web site features an "Open FM Frequency Finder" which finds unused FM stations by zip code or city/state. This free service makes this product even more dependable and is another plus in the manufacturer's favor. Google "digital lifestyle outfitters fm transmitter" to find the product's web site.

Note that most FM transmitters only use the high and low FM frequencies, which in areas like Washington DC are clogged with FM stations and no available FM frequencies. Using all frequencies is a feature usually only found in devices which cost quite a bit more than this one.

This FM transmitter scans the "even" FM frequencies as well (ie 96.0, 96.1, 96.2, ...), so if your car stereo scans these frequencies you're almost guaranteed to find a free FM frequency. Too bad it stops at 88.1 (my car's stereo goes all the way down to 87.7), but its not a big loss.

I've read all of the reviews for this product as of the time of this post, and I am dubious about the claims made in most of negative ones. I have owned this FM transmitter for close to three years now. Mine is still as good as new. In fact, when you factor in the car plug and rechargeable AAA battery, you'll probably agree that this is an absolutely excellent value for the price.

The company has been around for more than a few months too, which in this business is pretty amazing.

If you are budget conscious and demand quality for your money: stop surfing, buy this FM transmitter, and for goodness' sake, go to bed! As of the time of this posting, Amazon has some great prices for this FM transmitter. When you get yours in the mail and hook it up that first time, you will agree that it was great buy.

Energizer Universal USB Charger

Energizer Dual Universal Usb Car Charger, Pc-2ca, 1-CountThe Dual Energizer Universal USB Car Charger can charge 2 USB devices at once.

Specifications:

The charger is rated 1.5 Amps, so each of the dual ports supplies 0.75 Amps of power (1.5 Amp / 2 = 0.75 Amps, or 750 milliamps) when both ports are used simultaneously.

0.75 Amps is enough power to charge most devices. To put things in perspective, a standard USB port on your computer supplies 0.5 Amps -Thus, if you can charge a device with the USB port on your computer, you should have no problem charging it with this Energizer charger.

I have only 2 niggles: (i) 2 words: blister package, and (ii) the charger has a smooth and shiny plastic exterior. I would have preferred if the plastic was more rugged in texture.

---

This charger works flawlessly to charge all of my devices (phone, PDA, bluetooth earphones, GPS, etc.). I couldn't be more happy with it. Recommended.

No big complaints about this unit, certainly beats carrying two USB-chargers on trips. I did note that when I plugged my iphone and ipad2 simultaneously it took the ipad much longer to charge than when it was alone. But it works fine, no signs of heating up, no irritating bright blue blinking LED light to keep you awake all night. Recommended.

Update 3 months later:

OK, originally I gave this 5 stars, but 3 months later it has malfunctioned and no longer charges any device. It makes a buzzing sound when devices are plugged in. No go for me.

Buy Energizer Universal USB Charger Now

The Energizer Dual Universal USB Charger works well during my first day of use. The charger does what it should do charging two USB devices at the same time. However there is a severe limitation the output is rated at 1.5A max, not enough to charge the Apple iPad.

Pros:

Works well with USB devices that does not demand a lot of power. It works with my iPhone, Android phone, Kindle, and Bluetooth headset.

Comes in frustration-free packaging. It is very easy to open the paper board packaging.

Universal input power from 100V 240V AC.

Fold-out plug that does not take any space when folded in for travelling

Overall relatively small size.

Cons:

The two USB ports are rated at 1.5A total. According to the original iPad charger, you need 2.1A to charge the iPad. Not being able to charge the iPad is the reason that I have to give it a three-star rating. Basically it does not enable me to carry only one charger. (Other users pointed out that the charger does charge the iPad. The iPad screen must be turned off in order for it to be charged by this charger. The trickle charge mode takes a long time to charge the iPad, and the iPad shows "not charging" although the battery does get charged over time. Upgrade to 4 stars because of this update.)

Although it does not take much space when plugged into a wall outlet, the footprint is relatively big and it will block two outlets if used with a power strip.

It gets very warm when charging two devices at the same time.

This is the first time I write a review about anything, ever, and I'm doing so because of how much I regret buying this charger. I figured that since Energizer has a good reputation I was going to get a quality product, boy, was I wrong. This thing makes the most annoying buzzing sound when I try to charge anything with it. Like most people I prefer to leave my cellphone charging overnight on the nightstand, but the few times I did while using this charger I woke up with a headache. I've tested it with other devices and different outlets, always with the same results. The worst part is that sometimes the pitch of the buzzing changes, thus becoming even more annoying. Other than that, it works as advertised, but hey, so did Chucky.

this is really a 'plug and play' electronic. Literally, plug, tune radio and charger to open station and my music app played. You may have to move from station after it's not as clear anymore or you will start to hear your RPM thru the radio. Added bonus it charges your phone while you play or your battery would be dead after 30 min.

I have now used this adapter less than 20 times, & like the Garmin adapter than came with the GPS, this one also lacks durabilityit's now broken; the Garmin adapter had broken after about the same number of uses. Neither adapter was misused or dropped, they broke after normal use. I know that the car's adapter plug is not the problem, because other adapters (like cell phone) do work in this car. Now I'm looking for another adapter, this time one that is neither Garmin nor Gilsson, & hopefully my third adapter will be one that lasts longer than either of these two! Although well-constructed of sturdier materials, easier to grip & a better fit with the adapter plug than the original adapter made by Garmin, my revised rating for this product would be 1*, simply because it's not worth the money for a product that has lasted such a short time.

I had a similar problem to the other reviewers. I plugged the charger in the very first time and it didn't work. The LED indicator light did not even illuminate. I know that the port on the vehicle works fine as I use it for other chargers all the time.

I took this charger apart and noticed that the fuse was blown. I bought a replacement fuse that matched the specs on the one that came with it (and also what the people at Radio Shack said are needed for car chargers). I plugged it in again only to be disappointed once more. I opened it up, and the fuse was blown again.

Something is clearly wrong with the electrical layout of this device.

Stopped working after some time. The connection b/n one of the wires and the plug, where a small board connects the wires to the pins, broke. Soldered, worked a bit, now it is broken again. Tried to fix a second time only to fry the fuse. Not happy with how long it lasted.

Cobra MicroTalk FRS220 2-Mile 14-Channel FRS Two-Way Radio (Charcoal)

Cobra MicroTalk FRS220 2-Mile 14-Channel FRS Two-Way Radio
  • Up to 2-mile range and access to all 14 FRS channels
  • 500 milliwatts of output power, maximum allowed by law
  • Audible incoming-call alert
  • External slide switch lets you change between 2 FRS channels
  • Backlit LCD display for nighttime use

I just bought this radio not to long ago... I am VERY happy with it! It has features that the more expensive Motorola TalkAbout FR60 does not have, such as a lock (so if you have it in your pocket and a button is pressed mistakenly, nothing will happen!),LCD backlit display,a bendable antenna, and belt clips (you would have to pay EVEN MORE for this on the FR60)! It has excellent clarity, easy to use buttons, a Call button, 14 channels, 38 subcodes (so other people cannot annoy your conversation!), and much more! The only thing I would like on this Cobra is that it would have better clarity with people in a longer distance (about a mile and a half, you cannot hear at all, depending on the surroundins). I definitely reccomend this Cobra radio! If you are about to buy the Motorola FR60, drop your credit card and turn to the Cobra FRS 220 2-way radio!

I just got these walkie talkies for the holidays. As soon as I opened the battery back thing, it broke off. But, otherwise its great for just talking to people. It has great radio reception and is loud and clear.

Well worth the money...

Still going great after 13 years. The battery's finally gave out 2 years ago I think, along with the charger but oh well. The triple A option still works.

XtremeMac IPU-IH2-11 InCharge Home for iPhone/iPod/iPad

XtremeMac IPU-IH2-11 InCharge Home for iPhone/iPod/iPad
  • This compact wall charger includes dual USB ports each with 2.1 amps for fast charging and a 30 pin to USB cable.
  • It also features a low profile design that allows access to a second outlet for convenience.

After trying endlessly to find an official iPad charger amongst all the Chinese knock offs on Amazon, I decided to see what the other manufacturers had to offer. Turns out, this is way better than the Apple one for me. Dual 2.1 amp chargers allows me to charge my iPad and my Droid or a second iPad at the same time without any issue. It's also very thin so there's not much of a gap behind my dresser where the power plug is. I love the fact that it comes with a usb cable, so I didn't need to buy one of those too. Couldn't be happier with this thing. The item listing says Memorex but the brand on the package is Xtrememac.

One of the few dual-USB chargers to actually output enough power for my devices. Most dual-port wall chargers SAY 1A per port, but actually do 1A total.

I bought this about 6 weeks ago, specifically to be able to charge my IPhone 4S and IPad 2 with one charger at the same time. It was the only such device I could find. The iPads unique voltage requirement makes many other USB chargers useless. So two days ago, I received my new IPad and wondered if it would work as well. I plugged it in and saw the dreaded " not charging" message. As it was the weekend, I decided to just leave it on over night to see if it would charge anyway. The next morning, the IPad was fully charged. That has worked two nights in a row. Not sure why, but it " just works". Yea!

Buy Audiovox 1222CH 5-Mile 22-Chanel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) Now

I bought these radios intending to use them only occasionally and in an urban setting. Here is how it went:

The units themselves are very nice looking and have many useful features such as voice activated transmission, a backlit display and roger beep tone. You get 8 rechargeable batteries and swivel-belt clips along with the radios themselves and the dual desk-top charger. The range is about 2 miles although the manufacturer claims 5 miles. But most companies make these claims based on the range you might get under absolutely perfect conditions.

I was very happy with these radios but after only 2 months of very light use one of the radios failed. One of the radios is stuck in "busy" mode and thus it is basically useless (these units are manufactured in China).

My experience with Audiovox in the past has been good so I thought I was just unlucky so I went ahead and bought the "Audiovox GMRS6000-2PK 6-Mile GMRS 2-Way Radio Twin Pack with Bonus Package" which I have also reviewed so head over to that review to read the conclusion of my ordeal.

Uhg! What junk! When I was a kid 40 years ago, the walkie-talkies we played with were better than this junk. My son got this as a gift from the g-parents if I recall right, some 4 years ago. The charger is poor to say the least, and the unit is very difficult for a kid to understand how to use it properly. When you can get it to charge, it always takes awhile to figure the thing out again. Do not buy this junk.

Rapid Car Charger with IC chip for AT&T Pantech Impact P7000, Reveal C790, Matrix Pro C820 GSM

Rapid Car Charger with IC chip for AT&T Pantech Impact P7000, Reveal C790, Matrix Pro C820 GSM Cell PhoneUpon purchasing my AT&T Pantech phone, I chose not to pay the $20+ for the car charger that I was offered. I waited awhile and then ordered this car charger for my phone for literally pennies. I realize that it's not made from the same higher quality materials as the "official" charger. However, compared to previous car chargers I have owned, I've found it works just as well. Of course, since the item does only cost pennies, the buyer should beware because the chances of getting a device that doesn't work as properly is higher than if you buy the "official" car charger. Still, for a few pennies, you can't go too wrong.

My husband got this charger. And for the price it was a good deal. Only problem he has with it is that when his phone is charging his phone has to be laying in his lap or flat to charge if he holds it or sits in up in cup holder it will ameditley stop charging. But its worth the price still get job done. lol

Goal Zero Escape 30 Solar Panel

Goal Zero 22003 Escape 30M Solar Panel BriefcaseThese 30w folding solar panels are a folding "briefcase" and are very sturdy and heavy (15 lbs each). They have rubberized handles and have built in prop stands (2) on the back which makes them very easy to get setup either outside on the ground or on top of a flat surface. They are 30w each, and I have two if them that chain together (need a combiner cable that is extra for 10 bucks)for 60W. These panels are designed to work with Goal0 batteries like the Sherpa 120, Scout 150. To charge Goal0 larger batteries like the Extreme 350 or yeti, you need an short adapter cable to go from 4.7mm to 8mm fittings. I like these units because they are meant to be for portal mobile use with large basecamp tents or RVs so you do not need a gas generator making noise at night and pissing off your camping neighbors. When you move your camp, you fold em up and the external case is very sturdy and protects the solar panels inside. I have used these to charge a Goal0 Scout 150 batt and they worked great. I also got the accessory that allows you to charge standard 12v RV batteries, using a 12v batt controller and alligator clips. My True North OSV trailer has two 12v RV batts on front yoke and that is what I use the Briefcase solar panels to trickle charge during the day. I also have a Goal0 Sherpa 120 batt that gets charged at same time thur a DC outlet in the trailer, and is handy to have outside at camp tables to power or recharge cells, gps, etc. Note that all of the stuff I have described is NOT for backpacking, this is a solid basecamp/RV/Vehicle solar solution. g

The briefcase design of this unit is sheer genius as it serves a two-fold purpose by first, in closed mode, protecting the delicate solar panels when transporting and storage, and; secondly, when opened, with the built-in legs serves as a tripod to position your solar panels accordingly.

When the built-in blue light blinks, this solar unit is receiving enough sunlight to do it's thing--even when the solar panel is indoors near a window, too.

If you plan to use this product with the GOAL0 (Goal Zero) 350 Batteries, make sure you get a "Goal0 4.7mm Input to 8mm Input" adapter cable. For your convenience, I reviewed that product separately on Amazon.

I just got the Goal Zero 30. The brief case was smaller than I expected, it is basically 2 15w panels designed into a sleek waterproof brief case with a built in stand. I charged my 150 power pak without any problems on a moderate sunny am. It will be nice to take it camping, but the weihgt of the battery pack may be the limiting factor.

Overall, I really like it, it does what it claims. There are accesories cables to buy if u want to charge a deep cycle battery
