ok. these work. but...just a little bit of rough service (and by rough, I mean carrying them along on a trip in a bag) will result in the panels separating from one another (solar panel front and plastic back, creating gap which causes big problems because of the spring loaded connectors). oh sure try to take them apart with a jewelry screwdriver to "fix" it. You will find that the plastic anchors will break. and now you need another one.

as long as they don't separate, they work great. I would say they are worth buying one or two, but just keep in mind treat them as if they are faberge' eggs....

I got the 2 add on pack for my ReStore XL. I spent a day up in Lambeau Field with my son, and kept having to fire up the car once in a while to recharge things (2 ipads, 2 iphones) during the tailgating. I wanted more options, so started looking around Amazon, and went with the XL.

These were a good price to get three times the speed on recharging when I'm out and about, and they hook up really easily. Spring loaded hooks hold them to each other, and it comes with the piece to connect them to the XL, although the XL came with one as well.

Checking the connections is easy, just get it in sunlight and start charging, and there's a test button to press on the adapter that goes between the charger and these panels, and it turns a little light on each panel on when they've got a connection.

My problem was the build quality. The plastic is very fragile one of them came already cracked where the metal hook would slip in, so I just ended up putting that one on the "outside" where nothing would have to hook up to it. But that means I need to be careful when using them any other cracks, and I won't be able to use at least one of them.

Charging time has improved drastically, so while I haven't done any timed tests with and without, it was definitely worth it for me.

The ReStore XL claims to full charge from empty in 11 hours but I was never able to get it to 4 bars even after leaving it in full sunlight for at least 8 hours a day for 4 days. I plan to use this on my bike touring trip so I decided I needed to get the extra panels. So far they work wonders on the XL. I was able to full charge from 1 bar to 4 bars in about 3.5 hours of sunlight. I also like the testing button as well as the tiny LED that indicates when the panels are putting out power. It would flicker when place in the sun.

Installation was easy and because of the way it is designed, it folds nicely into a compact case for easy storage.

I highly recommend this if you have the XL and having trouble getting to 4 bars on the panels itself.

I bought this charger and the two solar panel add-on pack. The connection between the main charger and solar add on panels is so pathetically poor it will not make electrical contact.

this item is big. It ls about 4 times the size of my 7000 mah (Non-solar) new trent battery pack (without the add-on panels too). too big to carry to be of any use to me.

unfortunately since i discarded the packaging, I'm told I can't return it now. i would have rather lit my money on fire, at least i'd see some cool flames.

maybe i got a defect but i don't think so. this technology is interesting but it just isn't ready for mainstream.

if you're brave enough to try it, i beg you: save your packaging to return this when you experience your inevitable disappointment.

Calling this a car kit is a bit ambitious as it's really just a car mount with a charger. It does fit the Evo nicely, and seems to be made of quality stuff. However, I found that anchoring it to the windshield resulted in so much vibration that the screen wasn't readable; the only way I could figure out to damp it was to mount it such that the bottom of the mount sits against the dashboard. Having done that, the only remaining problem is that sometimes when I pull the phone out, the whole cradle slides off (as another reviewer has mentioned). That's really annoying but there doesn't appear to be any easy way of fixing it other than perhaps glue. Other than these annoyances, it works well and does what I need. Oh, and there's one other issue what were they thinking in using a mini rather than micro USB cable for power? If you ever want to just plug the phone in but hold it in your hand rather than using the cradle you are out of luck! I haven't seen anything better for the Evo, and you can work around these issues but for this much money I really would have expected something a bit more polished.

This is a well designed product except for a few things. When using the speaker phone, people say that they can't understand what I'm saying so the Car Kit must cover up the microphone of the phone. The hands free phone was one of the main reasons I purchased this device. It is a two handed removal process because the whole "docking holster" comes loose when you lift the phone out. A dab of glue would fix that but then it could only be used for the EVO (assuming there are other inserts for other phones). Substantially built, strong, very adjustable. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the problems I mentioned above.

This radio is decent for the price. Gets out to repeaters 15-20 miles away. Reception is decent too. I am pleased with the quality. I do have problems using the software on windows 7 machines, however it works good on xp. Programming is easy with the software. The radio can be manually programmed fairly easily. Not as easy as the software, but not as bad as I read in some reviews. I would buy again. Purchased for backup and portability.

I had purchased this radio as a gift for a friend of mine who was new to amateur radio. She was unfamiliar with handheld radios. The radio is not a true dual band. It can switch between both bands however they must be on the same transmit & receive channels to talk. Programming is rather difficult however the speech does confirm each key as it is pressed I think the software and cable would be a great help for programming faster and more accurately . The manual is very difficult to understand however if you are familiar with other handhelds it can be figured out. That is why I have ordered the software and cable for her to assist in the programming. Overall for the value the radio works well and as claimed, we have been able to hit the local repeaters with no problems. The delivery was extremely fast and the seller has been excellent in helping out with the radio. The radio is a good value for the money and fast service.

Cant beat the price. More than I expected. I was told it would be hard to program with out the soft ware but its not. Buy it and take the time to look around on the net for tips, its well worth your time. I have the compatible Baofeng (that I love) but this is much easier to program with out the soft ware. No harder than an Icom or Alinco. Just don't expect the manual to tell you too much.

I bought this inverter to power a laptop computer while in any of our vehicles and it serves the purpose very well. I like the design which goes well with my laptop (a Toshiba Satellite M645). It's very light, slim enough to easily fit in a laptop case, has a power led to let you know its on and not only plugs into a standard 12V accessory port in a vehicle but also can be used on a plane (check first to see that your seat has a power outlet). It also has over/under voltage protection (shuts off in either case) and is the only one I found that can actually deliver 175 watts of power (not just the temp surge wattage). Granted I haven't actually put that to the test, but all of the other inverters I looked into in this class delivered less continuous power if you read the fine print. If I find out different with this one, I'll edit this review (and I'll also be in touch with PowerBright as this is what they advertise...).

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that the outlet does not grip the AC plug from the device very securely. Its good enough as long as you don't pull on the cord which you shouldn't do anyway. Otherwise its a very nice product and I would recommend it to anyone with a similar need.

This is my first inverter from Power Bright, but I have to say, I'll be a repeat customer. I use this little guy to run an air pump that draws something like 174 Watts, just under the max. And that pump runs for maybe 15 minutes straight to fill up my giant float. Usually in the hot sun. This little engine-that-could has never skipped a beat. I admit I was surprised how hardy this thing is given its tiny footprint. Uploaded a picture of it next to an iPhone 4 for a size comparison (the stock photo looks like a 100 photoshoped to look bigger).

The only negative thing i have to say about it is that the chords that come with it are short and seem a little cheap. But that's a nit since the unit is quality.

I did some research and really liked the size and style of this item. When it arrived, it worked great. It rode around in the car, sometimes in use and sometimes not in use, for 2.5 months. Yesterday I tried to use it and found out that it was completely dead. No fan, no lights, nothing. I don't know what might have caused it to stop--I'd been out of town for a month and the car with the unit was parked in the garage. I'm really disappointed because I liked it up until yesterday. I'm inclined to go back to a Black and Decker unit that we've had for quite a while and used in the other vehicle.

I'll break this up into different sections to try to give you the best detailed review possible.

DESIGN:

The Commute's design is solid. I have to admit it's a little bigger than I anticipated, but it puts out the sound to justify it. The volume buttons are, in fact, not buttons at all. Just slide your finger from left to right to turn it up, and right to left to turn it down. I kind of like that and kind of don't. I think I would have preferred buttons (it's easier to feel buttons without looking than figuring out if you're about to slide your finger at the right place) but I've figured out how to do it just fine. There's a place in the middle of the top of the Commute that launches the voice control, hangs up phone calls, among other things. Again, I would have preferred an actual button to know exactly where I'm pressing, but you get used to it.

The usb cord to charge it is rather short and the manual says it takes 3-4 hours to charge. Doesn't seem like I'll be charging it in the car. We just bring it in the house with us and charge it overnight

SOUND:

It really really sounds good. When using it in the car, the sound is amazing. Every word the caller says is crisp and clear. When talking with someone using it for instance when I'm at work calling my wife in the car it barely sounds like she's using a speakerphone. There is absolutely no background noise except when she's talking...then I just hear what sounds a little like wind, but it's really not much at all and doesn't bother me one bit.

I haven't tried to use it with the gps from my phone so I'm not sure how the voice navigation is. Nor have I listened to music with it. The one thing I will say is to make sure that your phone is not on vibrate...otherwise it does not alert you when you get a text.

EASE OF USE:

The Commute's integration with Siri is practically flawless...just say "Launch voice control" and Siri talks to you over the Commute. The only problem that I've had is that it sometimes says that handsfree is connected but it won't be ready to "listen" for my voice controls. Instead, I have to push the button in the middle. After I've done that once, handsfree mode works perfect from that point on.

Hanging up from a call is sometimes difficult. I'm sure once I get more time with it, I'll figure out all of the tricks, but I've just struggled with it so far.

SETUP:

Nothing could be easier...period! Connects with phone and loads contacts flawlessly.

CONCLUSION:

The only reasons I took 1 star off is because it's not always ready for handsfree use even though it says it is and the fact that I would have preferred regular buttons (again, that may just be my preference though). Other than that, this thing is a must for any man to buy for his wife to have in their car. My wife is really happy with it and the fact that she can text me back while driving gives me peace of mind that she is safer. Well done Blueant!

I have now owned four blue tooth speak systems for my Passat. All have eventually ceased to properly function after eight months, so I keep replacing them with different brands or models. I purchased the BlueAnt Commute because everyone complained about the lack of call quality with my Jabra Highway. Here are my observations with the Commute:

The sound output is good but the spoken "trigger" activation is sometimes set off by the car audio.

Although it took several minutes to upload my contacts Commute cannot make a call using them and must defer to Siri in my

iPhone. I can speak "phone commands" to activate Siri easily enough but other brands I have owned were more seamless.

Battery life is adequatecomparable to other models.

People receiving calls complain about the sound quality.

But the biggest complaint is the power on/off switchit seldom activates on the first try, and I have to cycle off and on again for the unit to power up.

Good unit, not a perfect unitthe Jabra units when new have been the best but they have proven to be very unreliable. So I am still looking for the right balance of quality, functions, and reliability...

I use the Blueant Commute with my Galaxy S3 and decided to make a video to cover call quality as that is always my biggest concern with these items. Many of the faults with this item lie with the android voice dialer or S-Voice bluetooth interaction itself. The unfortunate need to hit the command button a few too many times is what knocks this off to 4 stars.

I neglected to show off how it plays music, but I will say for one speaker it does a serviceable job. It comes across as clear and loud as the Biueant voice in the video review.

Our city recently went hands free for cell phones. This device is a great alternative to in the ear blue tooth devices. I generally only need a blue tooth while in the car. I like the fact that this attaches to the visor and can't get lost.

As far as funtionality, I have used this device with my iphone. One voice command, " launch voice control", unlocks siri from apple. This makes this device a powerful tool for making voice calls, simple text are easy (it does not automatically read incoming text you have to ask siri to read them to you.) It can launch apple maps for turn by turn directions and even play music from you iphone. I recommend learning how to use this feature BEFORE driving.

Sound quality. People don't even know I am using a blue tooth it sounds that good to them. The speakers for the user to hear now thats another story. Most calls are cell phone to cell phone. When I have some one who calls me with a poor quaility call the device does nothing to enhance the sound. At full volume (which is the only way you can hear it while driving on the highway in my truck) the sound is distorted even more.

Hardware. nice battery last 2 days. The usb charging cord is short. The visor clip holds it nice and secure. The hand controls on the unit are touch sensitive and not buttons. This takes some getting used to. Keep the directions close for a couple of days.

Overall 4 stars out of 5. If I could answer any call any time with confidence that I could actually clearly understand the person on the other end it would have been 5 :)

Battery Tender 021-1165 15W Solar Charger

Product works just as designed. Just as a note, the charging sensor is next to the solar panel. I would like it to be next to the end plug or have an option to plug one inline. I install this on the roof of my trailer and ran the cable down to the battery inside. I cannot see what status the battery is whether it's charging or trickling as the sensor is on the roof. Also keep in mind that this is solar. How do you keep a constant trickle if there is no sun at night? the next day when the sun comes out it will detect the battery and charge it like normal for a little while and then trickle it.

This is a good product which is compromised by a shortcut in production that probably only saved a dollar or two in cost. Although the frame that supports the glass panel is solid metal, the corner braces are thin plastic. Several potential problems arise from this: First, if the panel is used for car battery charging, it will be repeatedly placed in the windshield and then removed. In a Honda Civic, this is a tight fit, making it easy to stress the panel. Strong frame corners would allow the panel to withstand greater torque. Torque or twisting force is hard to avoid when sliding the panel over the steering wheel.

If the panel is going to be mounted to a roof, the screws will be installed through the plastic corners which are too weak to handle the load of all but the lightest wind. I have not returned it because it would be good in an extended emergency, and someday I will improve the frame.

Finally, this 15 watt panel is marginal in power for all but the smallest car batteries. It is good for charging batteries of 32 Amp/hr or less and would be great (electrically) for bikes and electric start lawnmowers. Getting technical, 15 watts is not enough to prevent and reverse sulfation in larger lead acid batteries, the problem that makes this product important.

Haven't tried using this yet, don't know if it will even fit in the car. My intention was placing it in the car, but it seems to be very big to put in the windshield, luckily its a station wagon and it may do ok on the cargo floor for a few hours a day. Looks like the intention is to use it as a charging station, mounted somewhere external to the vehicle.

Currently, Amazon shows the dimensions as 17.8 x 17.8 x 3 inches, but the dimensions of the 15W panel are actually 38" x 16" x 0.875" (from mfg's website).

Also, the mfg says the 5W is for small batteries (lawnmowers, etc.), 10W is for motorcycles, etc. and 15W is for large batteries (auto).

Also, at 60", the attached cord is rather short in my opinion.

Bought a cell phone battery that, of course, died one week past their return/refund deadline. Refused to refund or replace even though the product is CLEARLY defective. This company is a ripoff and will never do business with them again. Consider yourself warned.

I rarely need to use a car charger, but when I do need to this one works great. I haven't ever had a car charger for my current phone, so when I got this one and it was the right one and it worked, I was excited. I would definitely purchase this product and others like it from this company again.

I wanted an inexpensive way to charge my LG VX8100 and my wife's VX5200 from our car's cigarette lighter. This does the trick. It's not a computer interface, but it does get my phone charged. The charging only happens when the engine is running, but that hasn't been a problem.

The product tends to get the job done more or less, but tends to be glitchy, as does the Zen itself. Sometimes when you plug it in or pull it out while the Zen is playing, the zen will freeze or shut off. But overall this product tends to get the job done if you learn how to work it.

The product description of this item (Travel Voltage Converter Transformer 50-1600 Watt Kit) claims it "Converts 220/240-volt Electricity to 110/120-volt". But the fact is, it can only convert 220V to 110V at LOW setting, which works up to 50 Watts power.

This product is actually two different converters built into one package. At LOW setting, it uses a small AC transformer to convert 220V sinusoidal waveform into 110V sinusoidal waveform. This is the preferred approach which works well for any low-power electronic appliance. One obvious limitation is that the appliance's power consumption must be under 50W (most laptop computer's AC adapters are rated for 90W or higher, by the way). If you connect a higher-power appliance to this converter, the transformer's iron core will become saturated. This results in runaway input current, which may then cause smoke or even fire.

At HIGH (1600 Watt) setting, the converter simply uses an electronic switch to 'chop' the 220V sinusoidal input voltage into smaller segments, such that the average power delivered to output load is reduced. This is the same principle used by most incandescent lamp dimmers. It works reasonably well for simple HEATING appliances, such as travel irons or hair dryers. But if you try to power any electronic appliance that is rated for 110V-only at this setting, the high-voltage stress will likely cause the appliance to break down and burn out within seconds! (The product manual did warn that "DO NOT USE other electronics or items with electronic chips and circuits on 1600 watt setting." So the manufacturer is not liable in case of damage)

This is not to say that this product is completely useless, only that you have to be EXTREMELY careful about what you can plug in at each setting. Unfortunately, some appliances fall into the grey area between 'heating' and 'electronic'. For example, most people will classify a curling iron (hair straightener) as a heating appliance. Yet it contains electronic circuit and its power consumption is higher than 50W, which means neither high nor low settings can be used.

The good news is that most portable electronics (such as chargers for cameras, cell phones, laptops, etc) are already designed to handle universal input voltage. Check the AC adapter of your appliance to make sure. If it says "Input: 100 240V AC", then you don't have to use a voltage converter at all. All you need is a set of adapter plugs (such as the Travel Smart Polarized Adapter Plug 5 Piece Set), which allows you to physically plug into AC outlets in other countries, and you are good to go.

Used this in Peru. The many outlet plugs came in real handy as each hotel has it's own outlet style. The transformer itself is a little bit heavy so depending on where the outlet is there is sometimes a need to brace the transformer or the article your plugging into it with something. All in all this voltage transformer works fantastically and feels like a quality piece. I don't think you'll find a better transformer for the money.

My Nexus 7 cannot be charged directly on the 220v current in the UK. I was told by a Nexus 7 customer service representative that a step-down voltage converter could be used safely. This voltage converter did the job on a recent visit to the UK.

It did not work as it was stated. It shorted and was of no use after 1 hour. Then I had to try to find an alternate plan to charge my electronics.
