This car charger does not charge the phone. If it does, it's so slow that the friction from your hands would probably charge it more quickly. And that is if you're not touching the phone. If you're actually trying to use the phone while it "charges" you will see your battery drain and the phone will die right there in your hands. The only thing that actually does work is the rapid retract feature. It is a very very rapid retract, too! It's probably best to tell your kids to look away when you push that button because that cord will whip around and retract in the blink of an eye, smacking everything in its path.

Pros: Nothing. It may be only $3, but it is a waste of $3. It doesn't charge your phone, so why have it sit in your car?

Cons: Everything. Cheaply made, doesn't charge a phone. Total waste of time and money.

It's great to have the cord retract into the base. I hated having the big cord in my car, always getting tangled and caught on things. Plus, it just took up too much room. I wish I'd bought it sooner. Only time will tell if the retration mechanism continues working.

This is the second one of these devices I have bought and I got it for my daughter. What a great and sensible invention. I have one too and it is so nice to not have to be lugging around all the extra coiled cable and then have it laying all around the car. You just pull out as much as you need and then retract it when you are done with it. My only concern is the thinness of the cable. I will make an addition to my review in several months once I see if the thin cable holds up.

The item I received had a issue with not charging if fully extended. I emailed customer service and they immediately sent another one out. The second one has a similar issue, but works much better than the first!
