Optima Batteries 8071-167 D51 YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery

I installed this battery in my 2005 Toyota Prius with the help of the adapter kit from E-learnaid after my OEM battery died. Aside from costing $75 less than the dealer battery it has a higher capacity and can handle the occasional deep discharge when I 'forget' to turn off one of the interior lights.

The battery was well packaged in a heavy cardboard box and arrived within a few days of my order. It took about 1 hour to replace as there are several components in the way that had to be removed. I would recommend this battery to anyone who needs to replace their stock Prius battery.

This review isn't so much about the battery but more about the ease of ordering, the price and the quickness in delivery. I found my Honda S2000 with a failing factory battery. I bought the Optima battery to replace the original 12-volt battery for a 2005 Prius. The order was delivered as promised and at a price substantially less than a Toyota replacement battery. The Optima by design with its deep-cycle characteristics should be well-suited for use in the Prius where the 12-volt battery is used to maintain the on-board computer and accessories and not to start the car.
