We bought this because the Apple Store also sells it and if anything went wrong with our iPhone they could not blame it on some less expensive product. That being said, this product works fine and is well made but it's touchy. You frequently have to make an adjustment with nearly every use. We are using the standard plug outlet in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and expected to be able to set it and forget it. No such deal.

The design of this made me think it is made of machined aluminum....., but only the outside of the head is, the rest of the body/shaft, the part that will get the most stress and wear, is plastic. So far, it works fine, but I wanted something very durable and robust.
