
One of the problems is that there isn't enough feedback about the charge state of the battery. There is only one LED on the unit and their instruction manual says it turns from red to green when the battery gets 80% charged. You never really know how much charge is in there. Also, on a few occasions I charged it to green, took it out of the sun, then set it out to keep charging and it started over from red.
It did give my phone partial charges, so if you just need something to casually top off your phone while at the beach, it probably would work fine for you. However, for long trips where there is no access to electricity, reliability and consistency is important. I eventually returned this product. For my next trip, I'll probably try a more expensive panel from a different brand.I've had this his solar charger for a few months now and it charged my G2x Android phone just fine. It works better when you charge the device your charging while the panel is getting a direct charge from the sun. These solar chargers neither charged their internal battery nor charged any cell phone's battery. Please, Keep in mind this advice "Delivered ahead of schedule. Impressive looking, rugged, good power rating, great size for backpacking just to name a few characteristics. Will take it on a good test run in a few days.
