Battery Tender 500-0017 Utility Bag Pouch

I have two of these for my two Battery Tender Jr's. They are perfectly suited for the Junior. I intend to buy another Battery Tender Jr. and will DEFINITELY buy another pouch. Some of reviews incorrectly say this is cheaply made of vinyl, they are actually made of water resistant nylon. I concur with the reviews that say they cannot store their extension cables in these pouches for me, the Battery Tender Jr (with cords neatly wrapped) was all I could manage to store in mine. Here's the REAL scoop on these:

1) Approx. 6" x 7" x 2" (sizes approx. from stitching to stiching)

2) Made of water resistant nylon seems to be fairly durable (piping & stitching only single-stiched)

3) Great clear vinyl "pocket" inside pouch for documentation (user instructions, etc.)

4) Double zipper pull meaning you can pull zippers from each side to meet in the middle to close the pouch.

5) Nifty little carrying strap

6) Company Name, Battery Tender Logo, & Company website silk screened on front

7) Finally, comes complete with a little white label stating this was "Made in China" but as much as I try it's hard to find practically "anything" made in the good old USA these days !!

Nice pouch, but had I known the Deltran Battery Tender Plus comes in a re-usable plastic case, I wouldn't have purchased this pouch. Usually you have to get out the utility knife to extract the "prize" sealed inside the plastic casing, but this case was really nice--it just snapped open without any cutting and you can close it again when you put the charger away. The pouch is a little smaller than I expected, but then so is the battery charger--about the size of half a small masonry brick--not car battery size like my dad's Craftsman.

I would recommend these radios. Well made and quite dependable. The charger base is super convenient. Their range isn't as much as they say maybe 1 to 2 miles. Perhaps farther on open areas I've not tested them extensively on long ranges. But they do have a high quality of voice transmission. We use them on trails and between vehicles on the roads. And if one family member goes out for a walk, they take the radio and we keep one home. We're considering buying another pair for when we need more than two.

These are very good as an inexpensive consumer-grade walkie-talkie. They don't compare to professional grade, however the sound quality is good and the range is also very good. I would rate them 5 stars when considering the price, but rated them 4 stars because they are not a pro-grade product and because of the delay mentioned below. I like that they come with rechargeable batteries and chargers, and it's a complete package. They are ideal for family or group communication when cell phones aren't practical, or in areas that don't have cell service. Overall I'm very satisfied.

We used them over ranges of 3-4 miles with good clarity, but still haven't tested max range. The only usability issue we encountered is that the talker must wait to begin speaking about 1/2 second after pressing the TALK button, or the start of the transmission gets cut off. I think this has something to do with the squelch or privacy features, but haven't experimented with settings.

I've been hitting the slopes quite a bit this season. I've been using my friend's Motorola Talkabout radios (10 mile range, 99/100? privacy codes). I decided to buy myself a pair. This pair of Midlands happen to be on sale so I got them. Upon arrival, 1 radio gets loud yucky beeping noise when receiving transmission, regardless of the channel and subchannel. Will look into warranty info.

Usability is just ok. This radio is bulky and its antenna sticks out too much. The unit is rather uncomfortable in my ski jacket.

If you are thinking about buying a pair of radios, I'd stick with Motorolas... they are much better designed.

I ordered this charger for my 32gb iPod Touch 3G. Great item for frequent travel. I keep it in my travel kit so I can charge multiple small devices: phone, bluetooth ear phone, iPod, etc. I am going to search to see if Belkin makes one of these with a European plug--which, if they don't, they should! This one works very well with a plug adapter. The power on light is very bright; works well as a night light, but if it is in your line of sight, you may have to cover it up. It is a great item. I will probably get another one.

I got this less then 20 bucks. Even though Ipod touch isn't on the supported list but I have saw some reviews that it actually works with ipod thouch..(except the 2nd i'm not sure..) I use this to charge my ipod 4th gen. It has been perfect sofar. and looks good too!

I bought this to charge all our iPods, iTouch, and iPhones during our trip to Europe. This was the only charging device I brought along, and it worked great. 120v, 220v no problem. Don't hesitate, I still use today. It allows charging of two devices at the same time. Blue light is bright but doesn't bother me.

If you're sitting there thinking to yourself, "should I?," just buy them. 1st off, they're made in USA, while all others are made by slaves in (probably) Canada, England, or Australia. Among the brands of GMRS/FRS radios, Cobra is the only one I've found to use Li-ion batteries. Compared to other rechargeable battery technologies, Li-ion will last longer and weigh less. Cobra has three models in their flagship category: 925, 825, 725. I chose the 825 for a few reasons.

Compared to the 925, this model lacks the voice recorder and has lower battery capacity. Without the voice recorder, if you miss something, I think it's a matter of asking people to repeat their message. Although the 925 battery capacity is higher, the voice recorder increases the power draw, so it may offset and result in similar battery life. The main differences between the 725 is the capability to receive NOAA weather broadcasts; I believe the batteries and the outside form factor are the same.

They advertise different communication ranges (35, 30, 27) in miles. I'm skeptical and wish there were more truth in advertising. However, for casual users, you're probably within 5 miles. These types of GMRS/FRS radios do not work well inside cars unless you have an external antenna. If used properly, they work reasonably well. I've been able to communicate within 10 miles. For the purists, the 925 and 825 have three transmit power levels (5, 2, 0.5 watts) while the 725 has only two (5, 0.5 watts).

So far, I can think of only one drawback I wish Cobra makes a car charger. Their website says you may purchase parts and build your own, just call them for wiring info.

This is a strange walkie-talkie. First rate engineering with a second rate execution. It even looks a little strange with a cheap clear plastic grill on the front. This walkie-talkie is also one of the smallest on the market.

It is a very straight-forward and easy walkie-talkie to program. Much easier than the Midland, if you don't mind the NOAA blaring in the speakers each time you go through it to get the programming steps you need to change.

It had a strange way of fitting in the recharge base. It just plops in one way and easily wobbles, but it makes contact all the time.

Most of the commonly needed buttons are right on the front, not like others that make you dig through or do some button looping to get what you want. There is even a separate backlight on-button on the side.

The backlight does not evenly cover the LCD like many other comunication devices, but rather it is two lighted LED'S on either side of the display. Cheap, but it works.

The rechargeable batteries is put in a square sealed plastic case and difficult to remove from the walkie-talkie, luckily you shouldn't be doing that often.

The VOX works like all the others. Not very sensitive, but it will work if you learn to talk loud and even practically yell on the least sensitive adjustment. It has 5 adjustments.

Have not tried any accessory with it. But it should work in ordinary use if you just like to hold the Cobra in your hand and talk and recieve. It has all the ability built in to exceed the basics too, should your needs go further than that.

To use the high-range mode everyone knows "buy" now you have to get an FCC license, but in FRS free mode of a few miles or blocks depending on obstacles can be obtained.

I also found out it cannot use most Midland accessories due to different pin configurations.

Bottom Line: If you want a straigh-forward minimal-fuss walkie talkie and just want to start talking this will probably be the one you want.

They are great! Fifteen of us went on a very large cruise ship and we used them to keep in touch since there was no cell phone service. The security code feature meant that we only heard each other and no one else even if they were on the same channel. They made the cruise much more enjoyable.

These radios are fantastic! They are certainly better than the walkie-talkies we had when I was younger. 4 and a half stars, but amazon doesn't let me put in a half star.

First off, the bad: Everyone should know by now the distances claimed are an engineers whimsical notion, not related to reality. That goes for any hand held *consumer* radio. (minus 1/2 star for fibbing)

The reality: I bought 4-pair of these radios for a cruise with the extended family. I tested these localy on LOW power in a heavily populated residential area and they have a half mile range for me. It was crystal clear up until 1/2 mile, then nothing. I switched to a channel that it is legal to use high power on and I had about 1.1 miles or so range, but at any point after the 1/2 mile there was static in the reception even on high power. I never used any of the advanced features like turning off the auto squelch or whatever. Maybe you can get more distance.

The good: I was worried about the amount of people on the cruise and all the metal between these radios. I kept them on one of the high power channels in high power mode. There was never a problem! I think the ship was almost a thousand feet long and it didn't matter how many metal walls/floors/etc there were. My father-in-law was at the very front of the ship and I was in the aft dining room and we were talking like we were side-by-side. We used them on the excursion to Atlantis and we did get seperated, even on different busses headed back to the ship and these kept us in contact the entire time with one brief exception.

I love the lock button. It prevents you from changing channels and whatnot, but you can still use the call button. This was great to prevent grandpa from stuffing it in his pocket and accidentally switching to a different channel. So all he had to know was press the button and talk.

The amazing: The Lithium Ion batteries in these radios are un-real! I charged up all 4 sets of radios before the cruise and we never had to charge them the entire trip! The other 3 families left them on all night every night. Our cruise was a 4 day, 3 night cruise and on high power they worked great. The battery power warning icon isn't even lit yet. If it is a longer cruise than what I had, bring the charger, otherwise just charge at home and don't worry about it. And these Li-Ion batteries should last for years, not like the Nickel based rechargeables the other brands use.

The mediocre: They look a little funny and that "Call" button is increadibly annoying when a 10 year old boy has one of these units... He pressed that button and it makes a phone-call sounding ring and that's fine, but when he presses it fifty times in a row... Oy Vey. That call function is great when you want to get the attention of the person holding the radio. I could hear it when it was rather noisy so we did get good use out of the call feature. Just keep the nephews under control... :)

I never had to use one of those privacy codes. We did have to switch channels twice to get channels nobody was on, but that's no big deal. When we were on a channel that other people were using it was still OK. They didn't have 5 watts of power like these so you could tell when it was someone else. They would have static and the 'roger' tone when they let go of the transmit button was different than the 'roger' tone these units have.

I used the clip to hang the radio from the neck of my shirt. They are quite light, but still heavy enough to be annoying when hung from the neck. Perfectly fine for a pocket/purse. We also clipped them on the beach bags and took them with us. Worked perfectly.

What they lacked: The only thing I saw another radio have that would've been nice was a built in LED flashlight. We ended up not needing it anyway. They do have a light for the screen, but not a 'flashlight'. The Li-Ion truly was the deciding factor on these though and that far and away outweighs the benefits of a built in flashlight.

The end result: This was the BEST purchase we made for the cruise (yes, even better than the alcohol!) It kept us coordinated without spending loads of time looking for each other. There is no cell phone service out in the atlantic, so this is a must. It let us enjoy our excursions without wasting any of the prescious little time we had looking for each other.

They truly made my cruise much more enjoyable and safer. My daughter ran off in the crowd once, I didn't realize she was running to grandpa. Without radios we would've freaked out and been searching frantically (the crowd was thick). We did freaked out, but called on the radio and within seconds we knew she was with grandpa and where grandpa was.

I would recommend these to anybody taking a cruise or traveling. Bar none, these are great.

I already own the AC version of this Battery Minder, and I use it to keep my car batteries topped off, as well as some deep cycle batteries that I own. I've had car chargers for cell phones for probably 20 years, and this is by far the best quality I've seen. It's not one of those made out of brittle plastic. I don't know what the material is, but it's very sturdy and feels good to the touch. It's a miracle they can sell it at this price. One word of warning, though. It only fits a Pantech Link it won't work with a Link II.

It failed out of the box and never worked. That is, it never changed the phone even though the led was lit on the unit.

I would give 5 stars for the way it works--plug it into the socket in the car, the red light comes on and the Pantech Link starts charging. However, the first one I received didn't work unless it was held in the socket. The supplier rapidly replaced it with one that works, but I did have to take off one star for the faulty one. And the price couldn't be better.

It was around 10 bucks cheaper than any other one I could find, and it really works! Charges my Pantech P7040P phone quickly. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good charger that is worth every penny!

Good product especially if you have two batteries on hand.

One problem, and it's a big one, is that it DOESN'T FIT a T-Mobile Touch Pro 2. The plastic support is the wrong size and you cannot get the phone on the charging element with it in place. What I did was pull the plastic off, wedged the plastic support behind the phone so that it wouldn't be supported by just the charger.

Other than that problem, this product works.

I have been looking for a car charger for my phone and this is the one! The others I had bought only worked occasionally. This charger is light weight and the cord retracts quickly. AND it works every time!! Perfect.

Charger was shipped quickly and it works great. But be careful pressing the retracting button. The spring is real fast and the micro usb end zips in like lightning. You should hold back the wire to prevent a possible ripping off of the usb end. Other than that minor, minor issue it is a good purchase.

Love how the retractable cord makes this very compact to store, and avoids kinks and tangling. Slight concern about durability, because the cord is fairly thin. But so far, so good. I'm pleased.

I have bad feet. They don't work good when it is cold out. SO i needed something especially for my ankles. This product is great. It heats up good and hot, almost to the point where I need to turn it down to medium. The heat does go thru socks (thick hunting socks) with no problem. My only problem is it does turn off after about 15 minutes and you have to turn it back on. Other than that it is a wonderful item.

"Ridiculous"! That's what I said when I saw the price of this compared to a non-generic one. No, it is ridiculous to pay full price for anything...especially when it works so well. When you use it, be prepared to CHARGE!

Nothing special here but it works. And for the cheap price, ..why not..it's just a charger. Cant say much else about it other than it's clearly not a high quality build and clearly not an attractive design but it gets the job done no problem.
