I ordered this item to go along with my new Garmin Nuvi 2360LMT. I knew this model GPS didn't come with any kind of a case through research and wanted something to protect the screen when I toss it into my laptop bag or other place when traveling.

I wanted something sturdy to protect it from scratches and crushing, as sometimes things can get crushed in overhead bins when someone gets a bit overzealous in cramming their stuff in an already full bin. This item is listed as a hard case, so I thought I'd give it a try. I guess I couldn't have expected aluminum for the price at which this was offered, but it is a bit lightweight in terms of being a hard case. Without tearing the nylon covering off the material used, it feels as if it's a light weight plastic underneath. I rated the item a 4-star primarily for this reason. The phrase hard case just brings to mind something a little sturdier.

Truth be told, it will probably do just fine in most cases for me and I don't anticipate it being a problem, as long as I'm mindful of this. I'll just have to keep in mind that it isn't sturdy enough to toss in a pile of bags, or to not pay attention when placing it into overhead bins or gate checking a backpack. Under those conditions, it could crush enough to contact the screen of the GPS unit and lead to damage, particularly if something with a sharp corner presses against it with a bit of pressure. I'll just have to keep it in mind and be careful...

For the price, I'm pleased with what I received and would buy another if needed at this time. I'll post back if I run into any problems, or if it doesn't hold up as long as I think it should for the price and it's intended usage.

This hard case for my Nuvi 1690 is very nice and came at a very attractive price point...would definitely buy again!

Got this for my trip to the East Coast and parts of Canada. Was going to be driving after flying into NYC. I didn't want my new gps to get damaged in the luggage, so I purchased this holder/protector. Its sturdy, has a double zipper,an inside mesh net to hold small items and outside has a loop with a plastic carbine. It also came with a 4.3" screen protector for my garmin. Overall, I liked the product. It did its job. I'd recommend it.

Battery backups are a bit pricey. Unfortunately, the battery typically only lasts for a couple of years. Although the manufacturer of mine advised me that my model didn't have a user-replaceable battery, they reluctantly informed me that this was the battery I would need. Replacing the battery really wasn't difficult (instead of a convenient slide-off panel, I had to remove a couple of screws and pull the whole case apart). I was happy to avoid the much higher cost of replacing the entire UPS. Seems to be working as expected. The UPS reports a full charge.

I hooked this up to a very simple, inexpensive tire inflator so I could inflate an airbed in the house. No go. I don't know why, but obviously it's not worth sending such a cheap item back. I got this for my Blackberry Curve 8320. Works fine. Not sure if the LED lights really do anything. It does blink red if nothing is charging. But if you put the Curve in or the spare battery, then the LED goes green but that doesn't mean it is fully charged it just means it has a connection. Anyway, it does charge the phone and the spare battery which is good so I gave it 5 stars. The reason I bought this is because it can charge a spare battery as well as the phone. The charging pod that I bought earlier doesn't have a place to charge a spare battery.

It seems to work in the various cars I've tried it. Sometimes it seems difficult to position however once you know the angle, it is easier to use. I had been told that cars charge phones faster than wall plugs; I have not found that this is the case.

Admittedly, when I purchased this car charger, I was not necessarily solely focused on buying a car charger at the time. I was actually in the market to buy an extended lithium-ion battery for my LG VX-8300, and I soon found myself browsing the accessories that were being recommended to me.

I immediately saw the car charger with an almost unbelievable price tag ($1.55) and couldn't resist taking a peek. I thought to myself, "For $1.55, it can't hurt to have a car charger on hand in case you need it." So, I added it to my shopping cart and proceeded to wait for the item to arrive.

Upon receiving the car charger, I took it out of the package and tried to plug it into my phone to make sure everything was okay. I thought we had an issue at this point however, because I couldn't seem to get the cable of the car charger plugged into my phone. I looked at the port on my phone and the plug of the car charger and it looked as though they didn't match.

Anyhow, to try and make this already somewhat long review short, I played around with the car charger and the phone for a few minutes more and finally managed to get them connected. The next morning, I hooked it all up to the 12v outlet in my car and confirmed that the car charger worked as advertised.

In short, most definitely a cheap ($$-wise) performer.

I give this product 1 star for being so cheap, that I it is not a terrible loss. It worked for only two days. The connector is made of plastic that's so soft and poor that it disintegrated after just few uses, rendering the charger useless. I can not recommend this product. However I did recently buy similarly cheap charger from the same retailer for my iPod (for 6 cents), and it works great.

When we bought our phones 5 years ago, we got one car charger for my wife, and that cost $30. The charger works with the Palm Treo Centro just as described. However, the only connection this charger has with PALM is a little sticker attached to the cord that says Palm (with the palm registered trademark logo). This is certainly not the car charger that you would get from Palm or the retail cell phone shops. Again, it's cheap and it works, however the authenticity of OEM would be questionable.

This charger will not charge your Rezound with any but the most minimal of cases on. I have a couple different cases for mine and couldn't get the male micro USB connector from the dock to insert far enough to begin charging. Additionally, the backrest behind the where the Rezound sits (which it would, in theory, rest on) sits back too far for it to support the phone, so really the only thing supporting the phone in the mostly vertical position is the USB connector. Also, just as a point of information, the spare battery charger behind the phone charger is completely flat, so it should accommodate either a standard battery or an extended battery.

The charger is light but doesn't have a cheap feel. There's a blue LED in the back that throws light above and behind the phone when plugged in. I think it's a nice effect. The male plug is the standard type and fits the HTC Rezound, but it's not the notched shape that came with my phone. There's nothing to guide the placement or angle, so it can be very difficult to get the plug into the port. It almost always takes me several seconds or longer to get it seated. Once the phone is in, it's always difficult to get it out and usually requires two hands, which is a problem when answering it in bed.

UPDATE: I got spare batteries and found that the battery charger doesn't work at all. I tried leaving different batteries in the compartment in the rear, and all were completely dead after days of charging.

Yes it charges the phone, no the phone doesn't seat easily, Yes I can hear the alarm under the towel that is used to block the stupid lights (and phone unfourtunately). I bought this with the intention of using it to play some music while it charges. The charging aspec of it is okay, but the connection can be difficult to line up right. I spend more time trying to get the phone in place than its worth. I prefer to use a regular wall charger with a case that has a little stand in the back. This unit has no speakers (which I knew about). I can charge through a wall attachment or a USB line, but the USB line is permanent to the docking station. To me, the station just isn't worth the money.

I've had an iPod for quite a while, but no way to listen to the music in my car. I have an older factory-installed CD player, so cassette adapters were out, and the unit doesn't have a line-in. I heard terrible things about portable FM transmitters from pretty much everyone I spoke with, but with a couple of long road trips planned I decided to bite the bullet and try the Transpod. I am very pleasantly surprised.

The unit combines a car cradle, a charger, and an FM transmitter in one. There's a short arm that plugs into the car's lighter port, an optional extension arm, and a cradle for the iPod with tuner buttons for the transmitter (along with a backlit LCD nice touch) on the face.

The FM performance is very good. I have tried the Transpod in both rural and urban areas and the signal comes through my radio clean and clear. The unit has four presets, but except for a longer trip to another city I have not needed to change stations at all so far.

The Transpod has a line out port on the side, so if I ever upgrade my stereo or purchase a new car I can use that option without having to buy a new cradle and charger. The unit plays music through the data port (it came with an adapter for the iPod mini, and a foam backing for the new, slimmer models no idea if it fits the Nano) so volume is controlled through the car stereo only.

A couple of minor complaints. On the first Transpod I bought, one of the tuner buttons broke. I was able to exchange it with the retailer. No problems with the replacement. Also, a hard bump can jar the charger loose in the lighter port on my car, and sometimes requires a jiggle to reset it. When it loses power it shuts off completely and the sudden burst of static is jarring.

Still, I'm very satisfied with the Transpod.

I have two FM transmitters: a Belkin Tunecast that I purchased when I first purchased my iPod and a DLO TransPod. There are four key differences to me:

my Belkin only lets me select from four pre-set FM stations whereas with the TransPod I can select across the entire FM spectrum (winner: TransPod, for it's flexibility in FM markets where the four stations the Belkin offers might already have strong transmissions)

the TransPod is car powered whereas the Belkin is AAA battery powered (winner: TransPod, because not only does the DC power provided by the car seem to provide a greater signal, but also it keeps the iPod charged)

the TransPod is a very solid unit whereas the Belkin is smaller and connects via a cable (winner: TransPod, because the unit keeps everything together whereas the Belkin, with its cable, is clumsy)

the TransPod connects to the iPod dock connector while the Belkin uses the headphone jack (winner: TransPod, for several reasons: for one, the dock is a superior connection and you don't need to control the volume of your transmission on the iPod when connected this way; it also puts less stress/wear on the headphone jack)

I read a lot of reviews on Amazon, the Apple Store, and other sites before going with the TransPod. I didn't want to get another device like my Belkin. The bottom line is that if you have to connect to a car stereo via a non-cable/direct means, you need strong signal and I needed some good reviews to assure me I was making the right decision.

I bought this item for my wife and it worked wonderfully for a couple of months and then just stopped working completely. After going back and forth with DLO customer service about the problem, I was told that the arm between the Transpod and the cigarette lighter "requires maintenance and needs to be replaced about every 6 months" and "is not defective, but does require maintenance".

If they know a part is going to fail every 6 months, that is a design flaw not something that requires maintenance. Also, if they know that the part will "require maintenance" every 6 months, why is that not disclosed on the packaging? I feel I was deceived into buying a defective product, and will never buy anything from DLO again.

[This review is of the Silver Transpod FM, but they are functionally the same] I have tried cheaper FM transmitters in the past and they have been terrible, so I really didn't expect this one to be much better. Luckily, I was completely wrong. Sound quality is great, and I can hear almost no static at all while listening to my music through the Transpod.

Using the included extension, you can position your iPod into just about any position to avoid the controls of your car and still make it accessible. I did not have to use the extension in my car, but I did try it out to make sure it works.

The package includes an insert to hold an iPod mini and iPod Nano, however the insert did not work for me because I have a case on my Nano. That being said, I leave my Nano in it's clear plastic case anyway and I don't see a need for the insert. The Nano seems to be completely secure to me, and I haven't had any problems with it coming loose.

I drive a vehicle at work, and this accessory will make my iPod Nano worth every penny I spent. I highly recommend this item for anyone with an iPod who spends some time in a vehicle.

This product worked well that is it got the music from my ipod into my car's stereo. The unit, however, didn't fit my car well. I had to use both the cigarette lighter arm and the extension arm to get it to fit. Once I put my ipod into the cradle it became quite top heavy. Every time I would go around a corner it would tilt over. I would find myself doing the mom arm protection move for my ipod. Not good. I would only recommend this product if it fits your car using the single arm that fits in the cigarette lighter.

The good news is the item was received in just a couple of days. The bad news is, the item I received was actually an LG STA-P53WS Travel Adapter rather than the advertised STA-P52WS. This charger will not work with my LG VX8600 phone, even though the list of phones for the charger says it will work, and it also says it is a replacement for the original STA-P51WS charger. I think the problem is that it has different voltage and current specificatons than the original charger. The original was 4.9V and 0.9A, while this one was 5.6V and 0.4A. I had the same problem with another charger I already had for a different LG phone which also didn't have the right specifications and wouldn't work with my phone. And I know the problem is not with the phone, since the car charger still works with it.

Also, I know that the charging pins are the same as on the original, so that's not the problem. I know this because I was able to get a working charger by combining the plug from this charger with the wall wart from the original charger (the original plug broke, which is why I needed a new charger). That old electroncs techician training comes in handy! For the cheap price, it wasn't worth returning this, so I figured I had nothing to lose.

So I would not recommend this charger unless your original charger was an STA-P53WS or had an output of 5.6V and 0.4A.

This original charger is perfect! I can't believe how cheap it was!! Trust me, those purchasing this product will be more then pleased...

Although the eTrexes were really designed for use in the outdoors, I use it in the car to help predict distance to go, etc., and if I have the local map downloaded to it, it has helped me out of binds on a couple of occasions. If you use it in the car, you really want this adaptor to save your batteries.

Not only will it save the batteries, but I can operate my Legend in normal mode to get better position from the WAAS data. (Battery saver mode precludes the use of WAAS and normal mode can really drain the batteries rather quickly.) (BTW, there is no scientific reason for reception to be better because of using this adapter.)

The cord is generously long. In fact, it can get in the way sometimes, but may allow the unit to be passed to the back seat so your back seat navigator can monitor it.

I have only two minor complaints. The first is the price. The Garmin Legend gives a lot of feature for the price, but Garmin seems to make up for it with the price of the accessories. It seems this adaptor should cost half what it does.

The second is that the fuse is accessed by screwing off the center of the cigarette plug, and the center piece has unscrewed itself on a couple of occasions now, leaving several small parts strewn about. I had to dig in my glove compartment this weekend for all of the little parts, and am waiting for the day I lose one for good. So be careful that the center is always screwed in.

I use this with the suction cup mount, which works quite well on glass. (But again, seems kind of expensive for what it is.)

This product is a must if you use your GPS in your car. It will save you many, many batteries. I like the quality. It feels solid. The LED on the lighter plug is useful. It indicates that you have power. The piece that snaps into the eTrex seems to connect well. It's never come unplugged after rolling around in my truck. The cord is plenty long for my needs--about four feet. My only complaint is the cost. The price was a little more than I would liked to have spent, but it's the only game in town.

All I require of this cable is that it plug easily into both my car and my Garmin Venture and then power my Venture. It does that swimmingly, just as it should.

The only aggravation has nothing to do with the cable: when you remove the cable, the Garmin will power down unless you hit a button telling it not to. I would often have the GPS hooked up in the car, get to the parking spot, then remove the cable in order to go and and get to the geocache. At which point the GPS would turn off (because I'd forget about the power down), and I'd have to wait around for the satellites to be found again.

First off, I live in Sacramento, CA. So it's not the sunniest location, but still pretty dang sunny.

I purchased the Solaris i6 with the intention to be able to charge any of the following: Ipod Video, Ipod Shuffle, Treo Smartphone, Garmin GPS, Bluetooth headset, & AA or AAA batteries. Usage would be mainly around the house, but I am an outdoor enthusiast that would disappear into backcountry whenever possible taking my trusty Ipod as my only real tie to civilization. Therefore, portability, simplicity & durability would be paramount for my outings.

At first tests, the Solaris was TECHNICALLY capable of charging everything EXCEPT the Ipod Video. The shuffle, phone, GPS & Bluetooth were fabulous no problems there. The AA & AAA batteries were close to impossible. Majority of chargers out there are just not able to work with the current that's created from these panels. I did find a charger that could, however the limit was a single battery at a time! If 2 batteries were placed in the charger, the lights would flicker a little -but charge. The SECOND a cloud, haze, or anything (possibly even a ladybug!) passed over the sun, the threshold was broken & the battery charger would flash "error." Unfortunately, the charger would either sit there flashing error (& no longer charging) until I came back later thinking my batteries are charged, or I would have to reset the charger by either removing the batteries & re-inserting (or unplugging & re-plugging the charger to the solar panels). So... technically, there probably is a charger out there that can work off of the current that the i6 produces, but in my experience -I'm as close to finding that charger as I am to finding a cure for Mad Cow Disease. So, expect the stated "3-4 hrs to charge 4 AA batteries" to actually read, "3-4 hrs PER AA battery." As for the Ipod... IMPOSSIBLE as well using the provided Ipod cable. I figured I had a defective Ipod cable -as the terminal contacts were too small for me to test with my voltage meter. Concluding so, I exchanged the Solaris for another one hoping that the Ipod issue would be resolved. Well, the problem was not resolved.

I can only conclude 1 of 2 conclusions, either: 1) I have terrible luck, & got 2 units with defective cables, or 2) the i6 is not capable of creating enough juice to charge the Ipod Video (at least in my 95 degrees, full-sun early September conditions here in Northern CA). I'm assuming scenario #2. That said, I think it's terrible to tout a product specifically for the Ipod -yet it can't deliver. As a manufacturer, I'd have tested the product against available generations of Ipods that use the connection that you are providing. There is no disclaimer (except that the lighting conditions may vary from our test type deal, etc.), so it really is disappointing. If you have a USB car adapter however, you can use this with the normal Ipod USB cable & the Brunton provided Female Cig adapter. This WILL charge the Ipod -but you now have to use 3 items vs. the 1 Brunton Ipod cable. For some this may be insignificant, but for me -this feels a little jacked-up when you consider the Ipod cable is about $10... which means some of my purchase price is completely wasted. Not to mention the fact that I now have to carry more bulk when outdoors.

So bottom-line, this product is capable of charging an Ipod -as well as a good majority of SMALL electronics. UN-intentional deception aside, I like the Solaris for what it is capable of delivering in such a portable package. I will however grade them hard, as I believe in delivering on a promise or claim.

On a side note, I am impressed with the Solaris line to the point that I am currently contemplating purchasing the 26 as well for larger electronics (digital SLR batteries & portable DVD players), for longer comfortable basecamps away from power.

One last point to consider... if you are purchasing these units SOLELY for emergency power (cell phones), you might want to consider the 12 or 26 watt Solaris instead. The 6 watts work beautifully under sunny conditions, & at about 25%-50% under light to moderate overcast conditions (but still enough to activate my phone charger). I would doubt though that enough current would be produced under heavier overcast (conditions typically associated with emergency situations) to initiate charging for most cell phones. For those of you thinking, "it's for situations like car trouble on a sunny day (not natural disasters)," let's face it, why would you need something as expensive as solar?... why not go with something like an extra battery... easier & cheaper to buy & carry. With a larger Solaris, there is a greater chance that the panels will collect enough energy to trigger your chargers, as a 10-15% output from the 26 would be most likely enough to activate charging. Just something to think about...

I really thought that this was exactly what I have been looking for...but it is not. If you are looking for a solar energy source for charging your iPod or newer cellular phone, look somewhere else. I own several Brunton products, and I've never had a problem with them before. Even though the specifications listed claim to be able to charge an iPod, it actually takes TWO or even THREE of these very expensive panels linked together to charge an iPod touch or iPhone. It took two Brunton i6 panels linked together to charge an iPod 3G nano, 80GB video iPod, and my Samsung Instinct even in direct sunlight. Although this item even lists "iPod" specifically in its name, I would have to recommend the Brunton 12-watt or even 26-watt solar panels to do the job. The i6 *may* have enough power to charge some of the much older iPods, such as the 1G and 2G nano, but I do not have any old iPods to test.

I use this to charge my iPhone. It works. It won't charge the battery while the phone is on but it seems maintain the level. I don't see this as an issue because I use this where there is no cell service, and no power I'm just using the phone as an iPod at this point. The sun is bright where I am in the west. Mine came without the storage sack and I emailed Brunton. They got back to me quickly and mailed me one. I give it four stars as the instruction book doesn't mention it working with an iPhone I just had to take a chance.

It does come with an array of cables: cigarette lighter socket, battery clamps, and various barrel connectors for charging other stuff. I haven't tried any of that at this point.

Also note that charging electronics in the hot sun is always tricky. One needs to shade or protect the device somehow so it doesn't get overheated while keeping the panel in the bright sunlight.

I bought this solar charger in the hopes that it would charge other usb devices in addition to my iPod. It doesn't charge the most important one, a Garmin Edge 305 cycling computer.
