Battery Mart 12 Volt, 7 Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery with F2 Terminals

Battery Mart 12 Volt, 7 Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery with F2 TerminalsUpdate 1 year later: My FIOS BBU is beeping again, indicating that the backup battery is not holding a charge. This battery lasted less than a year but only has a 90-day warranty, so I'll be looking elsewhere for a replacement.

(original 5-star review below:)

This is an exact replacement for the original FIOS BBU battery, but at about 2/3 the price of others I've seen. Switching the batteries takes 5 minutes or less and can be done without turning off the power or the FIOS router. If your FIOS BBU is beeping, this is the cure!

Like many people in our neighborhood, our Verizon Fios back-up power unit battery went dead after about 3 years. This battery works as a replacement, and we've had solid results so far after about 3 months of continuous use.

This battery was dead on arrival. Seriously. Dead as a doornail. Would not buy this again and would not order from the merchant again. I should have spent the time to get a return, but I just never got around to it. You can get *charged* units like this from your local Radio Shack, I've discovered... AND, if you are using this to replace your Verizon FIOS unit, try calling Verizon first. They came out and replaced mine for FREE.

F900LHD Full HD Car Black Box DVR Camera 1080P LCD

F900LHD Full HD Car Black Box DVR Camera 1080P LCD
  • Having a wide range of use and being convenient to video anytime, anywhere.
  • Anti-shake function. Motion detection recording.
  • Support for the SD (SDHC ) card with high power capability.
  • This subminiature high-definition digital video camcorder is aimed at the market demand, with many leading functions as high-definition digital video recorder, photograph, highspeed USB data transmission and, USB charging.
  • SD Card not included.

One thing I don't like is if the LCD is closed and recording and you pull out the cigarette lighter power, the unit shuts off (even if the battery of the camera is fully charged). If the LCD is in the open position and you unplug the cigarette lighter, the battery in the unit keeps running and recording. It has good definition, but I'm not sure why when I use a 32gig Micro SD card with adapter it keeps shutting off. It won't work with a 64 gig sd card. I have found the 16 gig standard SD card works and at 1080p resolution will hold just about 2 hours of video before it starts to record over itself. I'm going to try a 32 gig SD card and see if it will work and give me more recording time. The lower resolutions suck pretty bad so I'd plan on recording with the resolution set to 1080.

The audio recording works good. Window mount is good and secure. Plenty of cable. Wish it plugged into the unit form the top or back rather than the bottom.

I've bought a couple other camera's and this is the best of them so far. I think there is a better unit out there, I just haven't found it yet.

Video shows visual, and audio capabilities. Lets your read license plates. It does have a 4x zoom but you never really think about it.

Unit records nice with pretty clear video. The manual is awful, just finding where the battery went was a challenge if you go by the manual, ex " turn the battery knob towards the mark to open cover" not at all how it works. Open the LCD screen squeeze the sides of camera and pull up. Using the menu there is a button that is like a joystick and moves 4 directions and you can push it down. Took a while to figure the buttons out. Also when you set for auto rotate the image it only auto rotates the LCD screen not the camera. So it you mount it on the windshield as it suggests your videos will be sideways on your computer. A 7 minute video on 780 dpi used 1 meg of space

Read Best Reviews of F900LHD Full HD Car Black Box DVR Camera 1080P LCD Here

I chose this camera because of various reviews of the DOD F900. Obviously I missed a few things and discovered after the fact that this is not a genuine DOD -but that's okay because it doesn't state that it is. Let's put that aside...

The camera does record at 1920x1080 (1080p) at 30 fps but definitely not in H.264/MOV like the box says. It only records in Motion-JPEG. There doesn't seem to be any lags between videos which is nice but you get that video 'twitch' every few frames because it is MJPEG.

Audio was average but did have some serious background noise -likely because of a noisy power adapter that wasn't properly grounded.

The firmware seems to have a bug that causes it to reset all of the time. The settings seem to be stored in a battery-backed memory on the camera so if you remove the removeable battery then you lose all of your settings. I seemed to keep having issues with the camera when I would go change the settings -it would stop automatically recording. I would be forced to reset the camera and then it would start automatically. I never could put my finger on what was going on.

The LCD screen must be open for it to record -this was a bummer because it just isn't convenient on your dash like this.

Overall... if you leave it as it is out of the box then it works great -other than that... I wish I hadn't got it.

New 12V 120W Motorcycle Car Cigarette Lighter Power Socket Plug

New 12V 120W Motorcycle Car Cigarette Lighter Power Socket PlugI didn't actually order this product for a motorcycle but it worked great and was delivered quickly. Ring terminals on the ends of both connections would have been better as spade terminals but who's to say someone else wouldn't have preferred the ring terminals

Just what I was looking for and decent quality. I would recommend it and am considering ordering another for my RV.

Optima Batteries 8052-161 D31M BlueTop Dual Purpose Battery

Optima Batteries 8052-161 D31M BlueTop Dual Purpose BatteryThe Optima batteries carry a price premium because of their design, however their long life and ability to work in any orientation and in rough environments is what you are buying. Additionally, you do not need to worry about acid spilling out like you would with traidtional deep cycle marine batteries. Cost, however, is substantially higher.

I ordered mine through amazon and it was shipped ground from their fullfulment center in Sacramento nearest to me in the bay area which meant it arrived overnight. I was a little disappointed at first getting ground service as a prime member, but overnight beats 2 days and their fullfillment centers are across the usa so chances are you will get yours in 1-2 days by ground ups.

I have used Optima batteries since I killed my first battery in my H1 humvee offroad in Alaska doing 60 MPH over rock roads from the Yukon territories to Alaska. Ordinary car batteries just don't do well to the vibrations the H1 hummer can produce. Additionally when offroading, the H1 may tip up to 40 degrees on sideslope which will spill the acid out of a normal car battery while the optima does not loose any acid or liquid at all.

You *MUST* match the color code of the optima battery with YOUR intended purpose as follows:

BLUE (this one) DEEP CYCLE applications RV's, inverters, UPS systems basically applications where you plan to drain the battery dry every time then recharge it pretty soon afterwards.

YELLOW (what I use in the H1 Hummer engine) Has both deep cycle ability and engine starting ability. If you drain a NORMAL engine starting battery dead you take between 5-10 percent of its life away right there. The Yellow Optima batteries can take deep discarge running lights and accessories with the engine off and still start the engine then recharge from the alternator provided they are not totally dead. NOTE: if you use the side post for engine starting, ALWAYS connect a winch to the top post. Look closely and you will see that there is a slim bar that makes the side terminal FROM the top post, which is the main terminal. Because a winch will draw 200+ amps for minutes at a time, the top post is advised by optima for this and any heavy, long running loads. Engine starting is brief (4 seconds) so the thin strip inside the battery is fine.

RED these are just simple replacements for engine statring ONLY they are NOT meant to be deep discharged and will suffer a shorter lifespan if you do drain them. They still have all the benefits of the Optima design of being sealed, vibration proof, and spill proof.

Hence for cars, I always choose Yellow tops, and for boats or RV's & UPS systems I use blue tops. Honestly I've never bought a Red top because I normally want a battery that can run accessories on a vehicle with the engine off for a long time.

This battery is rated 75AH and I realize you can buy alot more AH in a deep cycle marine cell with liquid acid for less money. I have no concerns anchoring this battery down inside my vehicle because I know it will not spill acid if I accellerate or corner sharply or go off road. I know that the wet cell deep cycle marine battery will spill acid under many conditions even just climate changes or charging rapidly.

You get what you pay for in the Optima batteries. Considering Amazon does not charge to ship a 69 lb battery to you and does not hit you with a core charge it's not a bad deal to get it on your doorstep overnight or 2 days. All together it proved to be an excellent piece of my inverter system (see Xantrex Technologies Prosine 1,000 to 1,500-Watt Power Inverter #1000 for the inverter I used)

The optima battery can deliver high enough currents for the Xantrex true sinewave inverter to start an air compressor which is a difficult load to deal with. Other batteries I tried refused to provide the inrush current to start the compressor. The reason is simple inside the "6 pack" of cans are rolled up lead calcium gelled acid sheets with LOTS of surface area, which translates into higher currents possible.

Finally, there is a pamphlet stuck to your new battery on how to care for your Optima cell for charging currents on the D31M model. One of the cons of the Optima design is that they do not take equalization charges like wet cells do so it is best to maintain a constant voltage of about 13.6 VDC on the battery when you are able to to prolong its life. I keep mine on the CTEK Multi US 7002 12V Battery Charger which charges at 6-7 amps and can also supply 6amps for items running off the battery when ac is available.

This is professional gear and will deliver excellent results when used properly.

Optima batteries are one of the best on the market. I am very impressed by their longevity and high power delivery. I have had a yellow top Optima in my 4wd truck for 9 years now and it is as strong as the day I installed it. Other great features of Optima batteries are the facts that you never have to add water, they can be mounted in most any position and the terminals never corrode.

This purchase was a second blue top D31M. I use two of these batteries in parallel to power a 2000 watt inverter. I tested it by placing a 1500 watt load on the inverter which drew 137.5 amps from the two batteries in parallel. They were able to sustain this load for 27 minutes. That is like cranking a 6 cylinder engine for half an hour. I previously used marine deep-cycle flooded-cell batteries for my inverter but they would only last about two years and I constantly had to check and add water as well as clean corrosion from the terminals. The bottom line is even though you pay more initially to buy an Optima battery the long life and power delivery quality actually make it cheaper than other batteries when you divide the cost by the number of years of service.

Buy Optima Batteries 8052-161 D31M BlueTop Dual Purpose Battery Now

Over the past 5 years I have purchased 3 Optima batteries. The first one lasted just past it's warranty date and then failed. It was a red top. The last two were very expensive blue top marine deep cycle/starting batteries purchased at the same time and put in the same boat. The batteries operated through a Perko switch set on ALL. They charged together and discharged together. They are just now 37 months old. One has failed completly and the other still works. The warranty is 18 month free replacement and 18 month prorated. So here again no warranty help.

Most battries that you purchase for $200+ have a 48 or 60 month warranty. Optima does not. The company would go out of business if it had to honor warranties that other battery manufactures offer. Optima is just a lot of hype. I have learned my lesson and will never purchase another Optima battery.

Optima is owned by Johnson Controls and moved their manufacturing plant to Mexico. In Mexico they are not held to strict enviornmental laws and employ cheap labor. They now offer only a 24 month warranty, period. I guess they know how long their battery is good for.

Read Best Reviews of Optima Batteries 8052-161 D31M BlueTop Dual Purpose Battery Here

I really wonder if some reviewers here actually read Optima's FAQ.

Optima clearly states that a deeply discharged battery may appear (even to "techs") as defective and explains how to charge such battery.

Also, ANY lead acid battery is subject to sulfation if stored at low charge. Desulfating chargers work and don't cost that much.

I have used optmas in my cars since the 90s.I have used them in my 87 Buick GN and multiple corvettes. They were the best. However the last copule of years something has changed. I use to let my vettes sit for weeks and they would start without a problem. Now they cant sit for more than two weeks without going dead. Once they are dead forget about charging them. 6 months ago I changed the optima n my 90 Callaway vette to an interstate and can go a month with out a charge. i also examined the electrical system the only draw is the clock and factory security light. Tonight the same problem in my GN. The car sat for three weeks (red top Battery is 3 months old) and the battery is dead and wont take a charge. I never had a problem with the yellow tops or red tops in the 90s, and now I have the same problems with both. I think something was changed in theses batteries and I am now done.

Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 Motorcycle Covers w/ Lock & Cable

Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 Motorcycle Covers w/ Lock & CableI purchased the cover for my sweet Sporty 1200 and received it in about a week and half. Took it out of the box and threw it on.. what a fit, perfect. It pretty much encloses the entire bike with small bungee's to cross under to secure to another eyelet. It has a soft material on the inside of the cover where it would go over a windshield if you had one which I do. I am very pleased with the purchase not to mention the cost... Good purchase in my book.

It fits my 2007 Harley Nightster 1200N like a glove.

As other reviewers have pointed out, it does seem fairly thin, but that's the downside to packing into such a small package, and being so light. I wouldn't use it for offseason storage outside, but for covering the bike while parked downtown, or to keep the dust off while in my garage, it's perfect.

The bad news is, the item I received was actually an LG STA-P53WS Travel Adapter rather than the advertised STA-P52WS. This charger will not work with my LG VX8600 phone, even though the list of phones for the charger says it will work, and it also says it is a replacement for the original STA-P51WS charger. I think the problem is that it has different voltage and current specificatons than the original charger. The original was 4.9V and 0.9A, while this one was 5.6V and 0.4A. I had the same problem with another charger I already had for a different LG phone which also didn't have the right specifications and wouldn't work with my phone. And I know the problem is not with the phone, since the car charger still works with it.

Also, I know that the charging pins are the same as on the original, so that's not the problem. I know this because I was able to get a working charger by combining the plug from this charger with the wall wart from the original charger (the original plug broke, which is why I needed a new charger). That old electroncs techician training comes in handy! For the cheap price, it wasn't worth returning this, so I figured I had nothing to lose.

So I would not recommend this charger unless your original charger was an STA-P53WS or had an output of 5.6V and 0.4A.

This original charger is perfect! I can't believe how cheap it was!! Trust me, those purchasing this product will be more then pleased...

WouXun KG-UVD1P 136-174/420-520 MHz Dual Band Handheld Two-way Radio + Wouxun Walkie Talkie Remote Speaker Microphone + USB Programming Cable for Baofeng UV-5R/ Wouxun UVd1P/ UV6D Two Way Radio
  • Handheld Two-way Radio with Dual band Dual frequency Dual display Dual standby
  • Dual Band, Dual Frequency, Dual Display and Dual Standby
  • VHF&UHF, UHF&UHF or VHF&VHF working modes

Can't beat it for the price. Well built. Covers large bandwidth.Tons of features. Great audio. I get great reports from others and I like the sound of others who have this unit. Came with lapel mic and hand mic. One downside is that the manual is NOT written for a beginner to amateur radio. The manual simply explains what the menus are and what the options are for each menu. There is not discussion about what the menu item is used for or why one needs it. Search the web for alternate Wouxun programming instructions.

Beginners will almost certainly need to get on a local repeater to meet and talk with others (unless you alreayd have a friend locally you can talk to). Remember this... Frequency mode is your sandbox. Channel mode is your storage. For beginners:

Search the Internet for a repeater in your area. Get the receive frequency, and teh PL tone frequency and offset direction. Common references to repeaters are like this: 146.300 + PL 107.2. Offset for the 144 mhz range (2 meter band) is typically 600khz and very often in the up direction (+). Offset for 440mhz range (70 cm band) is typically 5mhz and often down (-).

Put the radio in Frequency Mode.

Tune to the receive frequency (e.g. 146.300). You may be able to hear people on the repeater.

Use the menus to set the offset to 0.600 for 144mhz range or 5.000 for the 440 range.

Use the menus to set the frequency direction to + or depending on the repeater reference.

Use the menus to set the PL tone (e.g. 107.2)

Press the push-to-talk button and annouce yourself. You should hear the repeater reply to you and hold a carrier open after you release the push-to-talk button.

At this point make sure things are working. Now use the menus to save the settings you have as a channel.

Repeat this "get things working in frequency mode then save what you have as a channel" method for any frequencies or repeaters you may want to use.

In channel mode you can tune in all the channels you have saved. Your channel numbers are for your reference. Unlike CB radio and marine radio, amateur radio does not have universally assigned channels. If you save 162.400 mhz as channel 1 then for you channel 1 is the weather. Someone else may have a different frequency as their channel 1.

DLO AutoPod Car Charger for iPod (Black)

DLO AutoPod Car Charger for iPod
  • Color-coded, intelligent car charger designed for dock-connecting iPods
  • Glows red when power's on, amber while charging, and green when finished
  • Velcro tabs for convenient dashboard placement; replaceable safety fuse
  • Plugs into vehicle's cigarette lighter or other 12-volt power outlet
  • 24-inch coiled cable with 5 foot total length; 1-year warranty

The charger works great. It charges quickly and when it's done it changes to green. The only problem with it is that if you play the unit while charging you get a buzz in the background. With the twenty hour battery life of the Nano It's not that big a deal. I just plug the Ipod in while I am away from the car, and unplug it for playback

I needed a car charger for my iPods. The choice seemed to be between cheap and untrustworthy, and overpriced. This DLO model was the best compromise I could find. With just enough features to justify the $15 price.

I have been using it for about a month now, including one 900 mile car trip, and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. The LED feature is actually helpful, and I am glad I chose this charger.

Want DLO AutoPod Car Charger for iPod (Black) Discount?

I seem to have the opposite experience as the previous reviewer. This "charger" does not seem to charge my iPod Mini much at all. No matter how low the battery is, the indicator light on the charger almost always glows green when it is connected. I rarely ever see the amber color that indicates charging. The iPod will often lose power soon after removing it from this charger. This does not happen when I use the wall adapter to charge it.

But as for playing the iPod while it is plugged in the car, I have had no problems at all. The main reason I own this is to play the iPod in the car, and it works just fine for that.

Griffin PowerBlock/AC Charger for USB Devices (White)

Griffin PowerBlock/AC Charger for USB Devices
  • Power and charge almost any iPod from a wall outlet
  • Compact and ideal for business and other travel
  • Type-A, flat-blade plug design for international use and multi-outlet configurations
  • Included USB to dock cable can be disconnected for use with a computer
  • Compatibility: iPod nano (1G and 2G), iPod mini, 4G iPod with click wheel, iPod Color, iPod Video, iPod shuffle (1G only)

Another accessory in the line of products for the iPod from Griffin Technology. I am the owner of a few of their previous products and like them for the usefulness, quality and value for the dollar. The PowerBlock is no different. This products purpose is to provide AC power to your iPod. This is useful for me when I am at work and my battery dies. The PowerBlock also comes with a usb to dock connector cable so you can leave the one that comes with the iPod at home connected either to the dock or the computer. Nice bonus because I always seem to leave it at the place I don't need it. I am kind of an iPod junkie by owning a 30G 3G, 512MB shuffle and my newest edition the 60 gb iPod with video. So needless to say I can use a charger at some point. I think it was with the 4G that Apple decided to stop including an AC adapter cause I have the one that came with my 3G. It has a Firewire connector on it. Apple now sells the USB AC Adapter as an accessory to chagrin of many iPod owners myself included. The size of the AC adapter is nice and compact and is similar to Apple's product with the foldable AC plug. This makes it nice for transporting to and from home.

So with those words we move on to the testing of the Powerblock.

Test #1 iPod Shuffle

You don't need the cable (included) to charge the shuffle. You just plug the Shuffle into the PowerBlock and the PowerBlock into the receptacle and away you go. The fit of the Shuffle is tight and this test worked just as one could expect.

Test #2 iPod 3G

As I noted above , my 3G came with a Firewire cable and AC charger. The 3G normally resides in my truck via a Kenwood adapter. Occasionally I will use this at work as well. Well the 3G needed charging and I thought I'd give the PowerBock a whirl. Using the included cable I crawled under my desk (not an easy feat) and plugged it it. The Apple icon appeared on the iPod but it would not charge. I thought I might have something wrong but how could I, it was so easy with shuffle. I did not have the packaging instructions with me at work but a quick trip to the company website put me in touch with reality ... the 3G is not compatible. So I was a bit disappointed but it was clearly documented on their website. This was confirmed by an email to tech support. It could have been more timely as it took nine days to receive an answer from Technical support. I do have to give a kudos to Griffin Technology. They have a compatibility chart on their website that references the various iPod models with their products so you can be sure the product you buy will be compatible. And I might add if you are in doubt, please feel free to email them. I think it is in the iPod's firmware but am not completely sure of that so don't quote me on it. There are reviews on the Apple website stating a Firewire cable will not charge a 4G iPod. A dock connector is not a always a dock connector I guess !!

Test #3 -iPod 5G

My pristine 5G iPod was the final test for the PowerBlock. Still new enough to be cycling the battery it was at work where it finally ran out of juice. I plugged the PowerBlock into the powerbar and using the included cable connected my iPod. No surprises here, the adapter worked as planned. During charging the adapter ran warm to the touch but not hot.

Value:

If you have a need for an AC adapter and your iPod is compatible, I highly recommend the PowerBlock. Compared to the Apple product you get the Adapter and dock connector cable for $29.99, the two separate products from Apple total $48.

Requirements:

* 5th Generation iPod with Video

* iPod nano

* iPod shuffle

* iPod mini

* iPod Photo

* 4th Generation iPod with Click Wheel

Ipods are power-hungry electronic devices and sometimes it's just unconvenient to charge your Ipod through your PC when you aren't even going to use your computer while it is charging. Thankfully, Griffin made this USB power adaptor for your Ipod that you can just take with you anywhere there isn't a computer to be found. Just plug it into any wall outlet and you're set.

At about $30, it is a bit expensive once you realize that it's such a simple device, but that will pay off once you see how convenient it is. It is also small enough to fit in your pocket and the plug folds for easy storage.

To charge my Ipod through my computer it took nearly 4 hours, and for me thats a bit too long especially when I'm not even going to use my computer. With this it only took about 2 and a half hours and it seems the Ipod battery lasts alot longer when it is charged using this rather than the USB port on my computer. I don't know much about electricity and battery power but I believe it charges faster probably because it is directly in an outlet rather than the electricity having to travel all the way to the USB port of your computer and then to your Ipod.

The Griffin Power Block also comes with a USB cable. This is such a nice bonus considering the Apple USB power adaptor doesn't include one and their's costs about $10 more. I believe the Apple power adaptor is also larger.

If you want the best USB power adaptor for your Ipod 4th and 5th gen., Nano, or Shuffle then this is the one to go to.

The box states "AC charger for USB devices". I knew this was made specifically for Ipod, but I was hoping that it would charge other USB devices too (USB devices that I know can be charged through USB, that is). No luck, though, it only worked on the ipod. Worse, however, whenever I plugged a different USB device into this charger, the device would say "charging", but not actually BE charging. I had my phone plugged in all night thinking it was charging, but instead it wore down the battery more than just leaving the phone in standby mode.

So, if you're planning on getting this only for ipod, then yes, it works great. It is small, lightweight, and I love the way the plug folds in for easy travel. If you're hoping to be able to charge other usb devices, forget it... try something else.

I had some initial reservations before purchasing this product, since the description did not mention compatibility with the iPod touch 2G. However, Griffin Technology's site indicated that it was indeed compatible and I went with that.

Another concern was whether or not the cable would support syncing as well as charging, since other products I researched did not offer this capability.

I'm happy to report that this product meets my needs perfectly. I'm able to charge my iPod touch 2G via USB or with the adapter, and the detachable USB cable also works to sync my iPod. I'm very pleased with the product.

Save 72% Off

Although this product accomplishes its end goal of charging your Ipods, there are simpler an cheaper methods for accomplishing this. First let me review the product:

Strengths:

It's Apple white (like anybody cares any more)

The charger itself allows the prongs that insert into the outlet to be folded away for convenience, protection, etc.

You get a spare communications cable that attaches to your Ipod and the computer; so you have a spare

The connector for the charger unit is a basic USB connector so you can use this to charge other USB devices such as those that you connect with a mini-USB connection (cameras, Nintendo DS-Lite, etc.)

Weaknesses:

The charger is only the basic USB 2.0 standard amperage. This is a shame because although this may be fine for the Ipod if you wanted to charge other USB devices, this may only represent a trickle amperage and you device will charge slowly.

Essentially, it works and its convenient but not perfect.

Recommendation:

Go to Walmart, go to the Electronics section, find one of the many multi-plug universal chargers with USB charging capability, get the one with the largest amperage capacity, save at least $10, and enjoy the fact that you came out ahead AND can charge / power multiple devices when needed.

Wagan 2485 200-Watt Power Dome NX Jump Starter & Emergency Power Source with Built-In Air Compressor

Wagan 2485 200-Watt Power Dome NX Jump Starter & Emergency Power Source with Built-In Air CompressorI purchased this from Amazon on a whim during a lightening sale. My wife was understandably skeptical, as it appeared I had bought an expensive radio/tire pump.

She was readying the car for a long road trip and by accident left the car on. Battery was quite dead. We own a Prius and one of the quirks is that if the car is jumped with too much power it resets the computer and the windows don't work right. We experienced that a few years ago when a friend jumped our car.

The Wagan was fresh out of the box (we had only gotten it the day before). Fully charged and ready to go. I went outside, hooked up the Wagan to the two posts in the fuse box and we started the car. Less than five minutes from learning the car battery was dead to having it run again. That was because I had to go in the house and get the charger...

Suffice to say, the Wagan is kept in the car all the time-even when space is a premium. We know that if we get a flat, the unit can inflate the tire long enough to get to safety.

The flashlight is bright and even though as the other reviewer states the doors are flimsy, but we are not rough with it.

We haven't used it as such but it will power lights for a few hours while car camping.

It can be used for charging any electrical devices or even running a shaver! They thought of everything and if there is any deficiency, it is that there's almost too much to use it for.

We like this mobile power unit and recommend it to anyone owning a vehicle dependent on electricity to start.

Bottom Line:

WE FEEL MUCH SAFER WITH THE WAGAN ALONG!

I read a bunch of reviews before I purchased this product, And was very impressed! however I must have missed that ONE review that spoke about the compressor and the power check button. I used the compressor to inflate my tire on my 300 zx and the Damn thing started smoking!, "like it was about burning out." So me in my infinite wisdom turned it off. I then checked the power by pushing the power button and it broke!, "what the hell", I though. Now I had this this thing for about two months and only used it once. So be very careful and make sure you read all the reviews before you purchase it.

The first one I bought had a short inside so it would never charge all the way and would quickly run out of battery without me doing anything. I replaced this with a new one and everything works fine. The speakers make a weird whirling sound when I play music through them but they are not pro-speakers so what do ya expect. the flashlight is fine and so are the inverters, built in fan keeps the unit from overheating as well. I look forward to using all the features.

I have received 2 separate deliveries of these from Amazon, and both of them did not had all of the functions working.

The whole area with the clock, FM Radio, and plugging in a music device to use the speakers is non-functional. When I got the first

one it was DOA upon arrival. Amazon sent me a second one, and it worked for one day and died after the second day. It seems like there

is a loose plug jack in that section, but there is no way to get to it, so it is worthless. I called Wagman and told them of the

problem. They said there is nothing that they can do about it since you cannot sent back a sealed battery through the mail or a carrier.

Not recommended.

DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Ele

DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric StartPowerMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 6.5 HP OHV Gas Powered Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric Start (CARB Compliant)

We live in Southern Louisiana, smack-dab in the middle of hurricane alley, and decided to purchase a backup generator to deal with power outages in the event of an emergency. I wanted sufficient power capacity to run our refrigerator, a small portable AC, a few lights, a small TV, charge our cell-phones, and occasionally charge laptop batteries. We figured that around 3000 continuous watts and 4000 surge watts would be sufficient for our needs.

There are several generators sold by the hardware chains (Lowe's, Home Depot) that fit this description, but they're priced around $600 $700. After some research on the internet, we decided that the PowerMax XP4400 would match our needs, and suit our budget. Just before purchasing it, on an impulse I decided to get the model with the battery powered electric starter, instead of the one that has a rip-cord. Our purchase price (on eBay from MaxTool the same company selling them on Amazon) was $469.99, including a cover for the generator, and shipping.

The generator was shipped Fedex Ground and took about a week to arrive. The external cardboard box showed signs of rough handling during transportation, but the generator was well packed in foam, and not damaged during shipping. The whole box weighs about 130 lbs, and it helped me considerably that the Fedex driver wheeled it right into our garage. Unpacking took about 20 minutes. There are a couple of shipping braces that support the engine during shipment that take a little while to remove.

The first thing I did was to flip the generator upside-down on a mat to install the wheel-kit. There are tools provided with the generator to get the wheels and handles on. As shipped, the tires were sufficiently inflated to bear the weight of the generator.

After flipping the generator right way up again, I filled it with SAE30 oil. We live in a relatively warm climate, so I chose 10W30. If you use generator oil, make sure you chose oil made for a four-stroke engine. The oil-fill tube is awkwardly placed I have a funnel with a tube at the end out it, and found that I had to use it to avoid spilling oil. It takes about 20 oz of oil. To condition the engine, I would suggest changing the oil after 6 hours of run-time, then twice after 8 hours, and every 20 30 hours beyond that.

After filling it with gas (there is a mesh fuel-filter underneath the gas cap, I turned the fuel valve on, and started the generator. The engine turned right away, but wouldn't start. This turned out to be an error on my part it dark, and what I thought was the fully-off position for the choke was instead the fully-on position. After moving the choke to the correct position(fully-off), the engine started up. It is pretty smoky and sputters until the choke is opened. After that it runs very smoothly, with no visible smoke in the exhaust. I don't know what the noise level is, but it is sufficiently low that it doesn't bother me when the generator is running outside the house, and I am on the inside.

The control panel has two 120V outlets (20 Amp), and one 30 Amp outlet that is switchable between 120V and 240V. There is also a 12V outlet to charge a car battery. There is a circuit breaker and a voltmeter. During my initial tests, between 60 watts and 2400 watts of load the voltage stayed at 115 volts, and didn't drop. I haven't tested higher loads yet.

So far, we are quite satisfied. The PowerMax XP4400E is built well, works well, and is less polluting that more expensive Honda, Subaru, and Yamaha powered units sold at the hardware chains.

And a little tip for any small engine that is run infrequently. Make sure you mix the fuel with some anti-oxidant such as Stabil before putting it in the tank. Gas mixed with anti-oxidant should last for about one year.

Six month update (August 2009) the generator still works like a champ. Some of the bolts worked themselves loose through the vibrations, so I've tightened them. No other major problems.

Eighteen month update (September 2010) no problems yet. But I finally got around to installing a transfer switch to connect the generator to the main breaker panel in our house. I recommend this highly it is far better than running cords all over the place, or back-feeding the main panel, which is illegal and very dangerous for linesman working on the utility company's lines. Reliance Controls makes a pre-wired six-circuit transfer switch (31406/30406) that is perfect for this generator and is available from Amazon. Took me about 3 hours to install, 2 of which were spent flush-mounting it in the drywall.

Thirty month update (August 2011) no major problems. I hadn't run the generator for a long time, but with hurricane season here, it was time to change the oil, fill it with gas, and make sure it still worked. The oil looked clean, but had only been used about 8 hours since the last change (a year ago). The electric start wouldn't work (battery was run down), and I flooded the engine. The rip-cord start worked on the second or third pull. I ran the generator for an hour, and will test whether that was sufficient to charge the battery within a week or two. It would have been wiser to unhook the battery while the unit was in extended storage.

Update (November 2011) first problem with generator. One of the tires was flat when I pulled it out today to power the leaf vac for the backyard. I hoped it was just a question of the air leaking out, but the dang thing wouldn't retain air when I filled it. For now, I've sealed the leak with a few squirts of tire sealer/inflator, but I don't know if it will hold. A new tire is anywhere from $20-30, and replacement tube is about $10. The generator engine/windings themselves work fine.

42 month update (August 2012) getting ready for Hurricane Issac. Generator fired up and ran under load perfectly. I hadn't run the generator since November of last year, so I had to pull-start it and was charged within an hour. However, the green slime no longer works to fix the flats in the tires, so I had to get two new tires. Harbor Freight has some inexpensive ($7.99/ea, item 47638, 8" non-marring rubbing tire) inflatable tires that are the same spec as the tires this generator came with (270 lbs maximum weight load at 30 psi), expect they're a relatively bright pink-red. So far after almost 4 years, my maintenance costs have been limited to generator oil and two tires. That's not bad for a generator in this price range.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this generator. It is definitely a good value for the money. The FedEx guy delivered it in good condition. The packaging was excellent. I pulled it out of the box, installed the wheel kit (5-10 minutes), filled it with fuel and oil and it started right up. It is fairly quiet for a generator, but keep in mind quiet is a relative thing. I would say it is definitely quieter than a lawn mower or a typical Briggs&Stratton generator with a lawnmower type muffler (this generator has an automotive type muffler which helps keep the noise down).

It seems to be pretty well built and I expect it to hold up just fine. I bought it as an emergency backup generator and I feel it really is perfect for that use. I think if you are looking for a generator that will get a ton of regular use, you would probably be better off to spend the extra money and get a Honda. But for something that will only see occasional use, this genny really fits the ticket.

I plugged a Killowatt into it to monitor the voltage and load and found that it puts out 120V at 60HZ with no draw. As you start to increase the load, it holds the 60HZ very well right up to the top end of what it can deliver. The voltage starts to drop some as you significantly increase the load, but still manages about 110V or so.

The published numbers are not really too realistic but that is pretty common for small portable generators. It is supposed to handle 3500 watts continuous and 4400 watts surge. In actual testing here is what I found it able to do:

0-2500 watts: it works really well. The voltage and frequency are fine and its seems to be perfectly happy in this range.

2500-3000 watts: frequency holds steady at 60HZ but the voltage starts to drop to 110V. You can tell is is starting to struggle as the load approaches 3000 watts.

3000-3300 watts: you are at the top of its capability here. It does handle it but the voltage drops more and the frequency starts to drop below 60HZ. I would personally operate in this range only for short periods of time.

>3300 watts: it really bogs down significantly and any additional load causes the engine to quit.

So, overall I do highly recommend this generator, especially if you are looking for an emergency backup generator. Just keep in mind that its published wattage numbers are a bit overstated. If you are expecting it to be a Honda, you will be disappointed, but considering what it costs I think it is a very good deal for the money.

By Ernie, Retired Journeyman Lineman. The XP4400E is well worth the extra cost over the XP4400, as starter rope must be pulled out at an angle.

This is an excellent generator for the money. The voltage regulation is excellent. Amazing output for it's size along with being very quite for the output that it has. The discription Amazon has for it is great, so many items are not discribed well enough. There is a couple points I want to share with present owners and would be owners.

(1) The voltage selector switch not only changes the voltage monitor 120 to 240 but it's main function is tap changing, this being the reason it must not be switched unless breaker is off (open) or generator shut down. It parallels the two power windings when set for 120 to the 120 sockets and the 120-240 socket. You can draw full capacity fron the 120 sockets or at the 120-240 socket from terminals Bu & R, the W terminal has no voltage so 240 is not available now. (Refer to owners manual wiring diagram page 23 or 24)

Set for 240 the switch series the two power windings and now the 120 sockets have only one power winding applied and so half capacity is available here, 1750 watts from either one but only 875 watts each if both are used. The 120-240 socket now has both windings in series and now has 240 from terminal W to Terminal R and will have two 120 circuits, one from terminal W to terminal Bu and the other 120 circuit from Bu to R. Full capacity is available with the 240 voltage and half capacity from each of the 120 circuits. (Bu is the common terminal to both sockets)

(2)It isn't specified the engine has a steel cyinder sleeve and I don't think it does as I run it for 6 hrs. and changed oil and the oil in the drain pan was pretty well loaded with aluminum and silicon swirling around. I will change again after 12-14 hrs. and then every 20 then on. A filter would have been a boon for engine life, but be diligent and change oil often and it will run a long time.

I think some have gotten generators and done them in early because they didn't change oil in time. Very, Very important because the cyinder is aluminum and no oil filter. More power to all, Ernie Wireman

BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I just received this via UPS. The box was damaged and when I opened it, I can see that the arm bracket is bent. I decided not to even take the generator out of the box. As this product is listed as "non-returnable" by Amazon, let's see how the return/exchange process works... I posted a packaging feedback photo to show the condition of the carton upon arrival.

Update: Amazon arranged for pickup and shipped a new one out promptly. Thank you Amazon. However, after assembly and filling with gas, I moved it outside to start it up. I was disappointed to find that the gas tank leaks badly at the gas gauge when the generator is tilted to move it on its wheels. Now that it is filled with gas, let's see what the manufacturer will do for me. Stay tuned...

Maxtool (the manufacturer)shipped the "new" gauge quickly and it arrived today. The one that arrived was rusty and did not include the decal (empty full) but works better than the old one.

FYI, when I removed the old one, it appears that the gauge was damaged in assembly. The plastic part that the screws go thru was cracked by both screws and the glass window was loose. It would appear that to much torque was applied to the screws cracking the plastic part and allowing the glass to be loose and the gas to leak. I will update again when I use it shortly.

Update 2: I used it and it worked well albeit a little noisier than I'd hoped. It did the job though and as such would move the rating up to 2 stars or higher pending more usage/testing.

After 10 months of usage, note the following:

1) Have had to replace the solenoid for the electric starter twice as it has failed twice. My warranty is up in less than 2 months...you can bet I'll be testing solenoid replacement #2. I wonder if lemon laws apply to generators?

2) Changed the spark plug to find out that the OEM plug & gap does not match either plug listed in the manual. Makes you wonder what plug/gap works best in the generator.

3) After the solenoid failed and waiting for replacement #2, the generator failed to start with pull starter. Checked the air filter to find it was saturated with oil. Removed the head cover to find oil in the head. Note, oil was changed and level was maintained correctly. Cleaned head and will monitor oil leak.

4) An extended warranty would be helpful given the amount of problems we have had during the warranty period. However, an extended warranty is not available.

The one thing I will say in MaxTool's favor is that MaxTool does have a good customer service person and he replies promptly and clearly to inquiries. However, if you are not handy with basic engine skills, stay away from this generator or plan to pay for repairs.

UPG D1730 Sealed Lead Acid Charger (12V Dual-Stage with Screw Terminals)

UPG D1730 Sealed Lead Acid Chargerthis charger has worked every day since I got it I use it to keep backup

battery charged on a security system I would buy another if I should

need one.

This charger works quite well for smaller applications, but it simply doesn't have the amps needed to effectively charge my 8ah sealed lead acid battery. It takes over 16hrs to fully charge my battery, but i knew this ahead of time. This charger does get warm during operation which is surprising given the miniscule current draw. The "charged/Charging" light is nice, but doesn't have any indication as to the voltage nor the charging current. The charging red light will slowly fade to off hours before the charged light comes on. (keeping in mind it takes 16hrs to charge my 8amp/hr battery)

This charger is wonderful when used properly, but didn't fit my needs.

I recommend this product, but it could have improvements.
