I'm very disappointed with this product. The holder actually grips the phone quite well, and opens reasonably easily to release the phone. The issue is the holder mounts onto the windshield mount by simply sliding down 1/16 of an inch on 4 small slots. If the unit turns at all, the holder and phone fall completely off. I won't even try to use this in my car, it falls off the arm while I'm holding it.

Update as of 10-24. Have heard back from the seller, item should lock into place. They are shipping out a replacement (testing it locally first). I will update the review once I have the replacement mount.

Final update 11-6 product does lock in you really need to force it to get it to lock. Emily Littella time 'Never Mind'

It is handy to have stuck to window. Flexible portion came loose but glue fixed it. I use charger a lot and if there is pressure on inserted part, sometimes loses contact.

I originally got another 2-way radio (Audiovox GMRS1100 2CH), then traded up. ....

The T5820 seems sturdy. A little bigger and heftier than the Audiovox, it's shaped to fit the hand, and has rubber grips and cushioning. I'd try to avoid dropping either unit (if you need milspec durability, get a Yaesu), but this unit is more likely to survive impact. It's also splashproof, though not submersible.

Audio quality is where the Motorola shines. It has a real volume knob rather than a button, which together with the better-quality speaker lets you hear more clearly at both loud and quiet settings. The roger beep is clear but not louder than the conversation, and the inevitable end-of-transmission click is muted. I also like the Moto call tones much better than the Audiovox bleeps, and there are more of them.

Operation is logical, the buttons are well-placed and the belt clip locks firmly and detaches easily.

The LCD is smaller than on the Audiovox but easy to read. Both units use a mode button to step you through the functions, both have 22 x 38 channels, and both LCDs have clear indicators of what's going on. The Moto LCD is better illuminated.

All radios are FCC-limited to .5 watt in the FRS range. The Audiovox has more output power in the GMRS range than the Moto (1.8 watts vs. 1w) and has an SMA-standard antenna you can switch out for more range. Its hands-off VOX function works with the built-in mic and speaker, while the Moto's works only with a mic plugged in. You can also monitor two channels simultaneously on the Audiovox. On the other hand, the T5820 can exclude noisy channels from the scan sequence, and has a silent vibration mode for discreet paging. Neither radio has a real squelch control, but both can stay on and scan while charging.

The big plusses of the Motorola are the quality of its mechanical design and its audio. After all, you use a radio to talk and listen. The big defect of the Audiovox is its difficulty picking up transmissions from non-Audiovox radios! Something about the frequency deviation made the reception unintelligibly choppy on most of the traffic I heard.

I've done no range testing yet. We expect to use this radio mostly around the neighborhood, and while shopping and running errands. For all that the 2-mile FRS range will do fine. When we next go on a climbing or boating trip I'll get the FCC license ... that's needed to use the 5-mile range GMRS channels.

I have used ICOM IC-4008A FRS-type radios for the past several years and wanted an output power upgrade for distance. The black ("graphite") T5820 units were on special, and after the rebate I paid $60 for the pair.

Thay have been satisfactory for all the uses I have, with one modification and one upgrade. The upgrade was to install the rechargeable battery packs, which allowed me to do the modification, which was sealing the hole in the battery compartment cover.

The Motorolas have worked for me during beach and boating use, and during hiking. They have been used in the rain and occasionally splashed with no harm done. The speakers are made from polymer and sealed around their periphery (according to the factory guy I talked to) and the battery compartment cover has a rubber gasket, which is hard to see since it is black on black. This leaves the hole in the battery compartment cover. The hole allows the cover's latch to be opened, but also is an entry point for water. I solved this by going to the nicad rechargeable batteries (so the batteries do not have to be changed frequently) and also attaching a piece of black vinyl electrician's tape over the latch hole and past the bottom edge of the cover a bit. This closes the hole and keeps the battery compartment cover from falling off if the unit is dropped.

With these changes, the radios are great for my purposes. I have obtained about 3 miles over the water they may go further, but I haven't had a way to test them over 3 miles.

I like them so much that I am buying another pair with the nicad battery option.

I haven't pushed their distance ratings to their limits -they work terrificly for kids going into the woods or down the road, talking to home base.

Motorola's Interference Eliminator Codes aren't compatible with all other makes of FRS/GMRS radios, so you'll have to check that if you want to use multiple brands of radios together.

Uses 3 AA batteries each, 6 total. They will last all day monitoring, with moderate talking, but you'll want a big stock of batteries or a set of rechargeable AAs.

There is a built-in NiCd rechargeable battery unit that replaces the standard 3 AAs of this model radio, available as an extra purchase. However, also look in to the other T5820 units that come with the NiCd built in. (search for T5820 to see the various options and colors.) ...

FRS is a low-power (1/2 watt, "2 miles") mode, free like the old Citizen's Band, while GMRS is higher power (1 watt, "5 miles") and requires an FCC license. This unit does both FRS and GMRS (though only a portion of the channels of each). My fiance and I play a lot of airsoft (kinda like paintball) and we use radios like this a lot. I have to say, I am not very fond of our Motorola radios! We constantly had issues with sound quality, even within short distances. Half the radios we bought ended up broken after only a few uses!

Another annoyance with the radios is the talk button which is sunk in to the side and annoying to press, especially when you're wearing gloves! It takes a pretty hard push to activate, which I found very aggravating. We also had issues with accidentally messing with the volume all the time because of poor placement of the volume control.

These might work better for people who are not so rough on their radios, but for us they just weren't acceptable. There are much better choices out there, especially for the price!

Bought this one for the wife in conjunction with one for myself. These were bluetooth 1.0 helmets that were reconfigured with bluetooth 2.0 hardware. They connect very easily to my EVO, streams audio and phone work as desired, especially as it relates to low speed usage.

Okay, she constantly complains she cannot hear...ONLY ONE SPEAKER! I have one exactly like this and I concur, the single speaker blows. They connect easily, although they function identically, the bluetooth hardware is different. They connected and work as specified, but after say 25 Mph the sound is not loud enough. It is easy enough for her to operate, she is a bit slow technologically speaking, but it gets annoying when she cannot hear me....or is that a good thing...lol

It functions well as a helmet, she states it is comfy too. The environmental noise is not too bad either.

Modular is a better option. I just received a modular helmet today, it has stereo bluetooth speakers (TWO SPEAKERS!), functions are again, identical. The same hardware as my other vcan bluetooth helmet but sound quality with two speakers is HUGE Improvement.

Me and my girldfriend bought this Vcan bluetooth helment. Bluetooth is great, you can pair with other helmet of the same brand. It's great when you are driving slow, when you are driving fast all you have to do is to speak slowly.

Music is perfect all the time. Just adjust the volume.

It's been a month to the day that I received my helmet. The first thing that I noticed was that the design on the helmet, which is more of a decal wasn't put on correctly. Secondly, trying to charge the battery for the bluetooth was pretty horrid since it seems like it has more of a short in it than anything. When it's plugged in, the light doesn't stay red. I have to readjust it and it takes a while to do that. Once I have adjusted it, I have to carefully sit it down. In the past month, the decal that's on the helmet is cracked all over. I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing it shrunk in the heat. The helmet only has two vents. While riding, it's OK. But most of your air flow will probably come from under the helmet. While sitting at a light, you're going to have to flip the lid every time because you won't be able to breathe. Lastly, the flip visor, over the past month, has started developing cracks in it. At first, it was a couple, then they started stretching from the sides to the front. I'm very disappointed in that. In hind sight, I wouldn't buy a VCAN helmet again.

The bluetooth is 2.0 and connected to my iPhone fine with stereo sound. There are two speakers, one over each ear. The sound quality was lacking until I turned my phone off of 'control loudness' for the music. At 60+ mph, I can still hear just fine. The same with mapping navigation. Don't expect to be able to hold a conversation though. The mic is horrible. You will not be able to talk while riding a Harley at even 10 mph unless you're yelling.

I know on other reviews people say that the helmet is "cheaply made". I took that as more from the standpoint of how it was assembled, in which case it wasn't assembled with any quality involved. However, with the cracks in the visor, I can only imagine what's going on in the black part which I cannot see through. Therefore, before something happens, I'm on the hunt for a different helmet.

Vector VEC 024B 400-Watt D/C to A/C Power Inverter with Power Level Meter

I bought the Vector MAXX 400 watt inverter because it was about the highest wattage inverter available that still plugged into the cigarette lighter and I am not displeased. The unit comes with both a cigarette lighter cord and alligator clips which can be attached directly to the battery. These are color coded and connected to the unit by the user. I just leave the cigarette lighter cord attached as it still fits in the convenient hard-shell carrying case in that configuration. The unit has audio alarm for low power, a circuit breaker, and a fan which is not too loud.

I found it easy to use just hook up the cables, plug it in and run my stuff. I mostly use this to power a laptop running navigation software or recharge a cell phone and it works great. (I probably do not need this much power for these tasks but you never know when you will need the extra juice for other usage.) It powered the laptop on a 12 hour drive from Chicago to D.C. with no problems. I do use a surge suppressor for the laptop but that is just me and to the best of my knowledge, the Vector MAXX has never triggered the surge suppressor.

My only (mild) complaint is that the cords are a little short. Overall, I find it easy to use and pretty handy to have around. I recommend it.

This invertor works very well. It replaced a burned out invertor I have on a mobile emergency cart-based power backup. I live in the Sierra foothills where PG&E power outages are more frequent than normal. The cart has a 12v deep-cycle battery and two 400 watt invertors mounted on it. It easily runs a couple of CFL lamps and a fan for several hours.

I have a 5000 watt gas generator, but that is too much work for short duration outages and the mobile cart fills the need just fine without all the noise.

I was disappointed to read in the manual that you can only pull 80 watts when this unit is plugged into a cigarette lighter. Many cars have 15amp fuses on the lighter, which is 180 watts. I own two "smaller" inverters that deliver 150 Watts from the lighter. If the 80 Watt limitation had been mentioned in the ad copy, I wouldn't have purchased this item.

I bought this back in February 2006 in a local store but I'm glad to see they're still for sale. I've used it on every long trip I've taken since then and it has earned its spot in my console. I can't remember what I paid for it but $100 would still be a good value. Its great for camping and other situations where power isn't guaranteed. I've run and charged two laptops simultaneously off it with no problems. Friends and family ask where they can get one and I'm glad I can direct them here. Two issues are the fan noise is a bit loud and you can get feedback through the stereo when charging certain devices.

I had no real complaints with the functioning of the unit until it died (and I actually repaired!). I used it on occasion, not very often. However, there is absolutely no excuse for the way this unit is built. It's as if Vector wants the unit to be easily destroyed.

Who puts the protection fuses inside an Inverter casing and permanently solders them with heavy solder to an electronics board? The whole point of a fuse is to protect a component and to be easily replaced. If you saw the inside of this thing you would know Vector Does Not Want The Fuses To Be Replaced. You pop a fuse you destroy the Inverter! Perhaps it is an easy way for them to get paid repair service or paid swap outs.

Either way, whoever designed this thing was crazy. >Definitely Check The Casing Of Any Inverter You Buy And Confirm It Has External Replacable Protection Fuses< If it does not, do not buy. The retractable cord is great, less mess and fuss in the car. Unfortunately, it would charge my phone for a few minutes and then stop. The first time it did this, I had used it twice and it stopped charging after 30 minutes. I have used it a total of 6 times now and it charges for a minute and then stops. Sadly, not worth the retractable cord if it doesn't charge.

This charger worked for 10 minutes and then didn't charge any further. The light showing it is operating began to blink and was intermittent. Got so frustrated threw it out the window. Not recommended.

Just like most everything else it is made in China which is disappointing. What are you going to do? The design seems sturdier than the Verizon charger that I have which is falling apart. I like that you don't have to mess around with the cord because it retracts. The price was descent but shipping charges just about changed my mind. Overall good product.

The car charger and usb cable work fine. The wall charger makes the zen act up while its charging, It's as if random commands are being sent through the charger to the zen. It was deleting songs and playlists. The replacement they sent did the same. I had to buy the very expensive wall charger made by Creative, which worked fine.

Depending on what you're looking for, this package is a very good deal. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to the word "plus" and discovered that the skins aren't quite the right size for my non-plus Sansa Clip. They work okay but the holes for the controls are slightly off and they have very little back. The rest of the stuff is fine.

I had bought this to charge my DroidX since I had no official car-charger, and I had bought it with the knowledge that it is, in fact, a $6 charger-and-cable set. I actually bought two with the purpose of both having one to test, and having one to crack open and reveal its secrets.

For those who are techy, it uses an MC34063A linear voltage regulator, which means it is subject to heat up. The chip itself is rated for a switched current max of 1.5A, however this is only a peak current rating and should never be sustained. Of course, the standard Motorola AC charging adapter puts out a decent 800mA of power, and bullet charger is rated to 750mA; this is overall an acceptable value.

For those who AREN'T techy, its like a "regulated resistor" (so to speak), where it drops the voltage that comes in (+12v) to the necessary output (+5v) by converting the extra energy to heat. This means that more than half of the power coming into the chip is just being burned up...literally...and the higher the input voltage, the hotter it will get.

As far as overheating, after 10 minutes of charging my nearly-charged DroidX, it not only became almost too hot to remove from the socket without gloves, but also heated up the cable to a concerning degree, as well as bringing my phone's battery temperature above normal charging temp. While not entirely destructive, it does mean the charger is prone to early failure, as well as potentially damaging the cable attached.

In summary, it is a very inefficient design prone to quick failure, has a mild potential to damage equipment, and it subject to extreme overheating, however this does form a good base to build off of, using its board and case as a starting point to replace with a true switched regulator with a heatsink.

If you're looking for something to work out-of-box, this is not the purchase for you, unless you're looking for a $6 micro-USB cable. If you're looking for something to tinker with to make absolutely perfect without having to pay ridiculous prices to achieve, than this is definitely worth the purchase.

I received my package in the mail, and it didn't look at all like the picture on Amazon. It appeared to be a cheap knockoff. It didn't have the Cellet brand name on it, nor the metal ring around the base. It was all plastic and the tip that plugs into the lighter was loos and needed to be screwed back on. I was too afraid to plug my phone into it, so I'm in the process of sending it back.

Came in two small plastic bag, very cheap plastic looking and doesn't even have the logo on the product. The Car Charger fell apart after a month, the retractable USB stopped working after 2 months and i barely even used it.

This is a great size charger for someone wanting to get rid of bulky cables. I leave the plug part in the lighter socket and put the retractable part in my armrest console. No dangling cables to get stepped on when not in use.

If you don't have the specific type of phone or device listed, the USB socket will work with most anything that charges off a USB port. You just need to bring your own USB cable.
