Slime COMP06 Pro Power Heavy-Duty 12-Volt Tire Inflator

Slime COMP06 Pro Power Heavy-Duty 12-Volt Tire InflatorI'm writing this review because the Amazon description doesn't inform you that you NEED 15 amps to power the device as clearly stated in the owner's manual. Unfortunately, I didn't know this before purchase so when I plugged it into my Honda Pilot which only supplies 10 amps, it didn't work. I called Slime customer service who confirmed that all their products require 15 amps.

Check your car owner's manual to make sure your power socket supplies 15 amps!

I'm giving it 5 stars because the device itself looks very high quality with a nice storage case. Slime customer service was also speedy and helpful. Too bad the Amazon item description was inadequate.

UPDATE: I have since bought the Black & Decker ASI300 Air Station Inflator which works great with my car.

Great carry case, well made, very fast tire inflation, a good buy. Works well on larger SUV type tires. Not a cheesy, cheap compressor.

This pump is far and away superior to a cheaper unit I had been using. I like the coiled air hose and its screw-on connector to the tires and its quick-disconnect connector to the pump. Also, the pump-mounted switches are more substantial than the switch on my old pump, which was on the power cord and had to be replaced. As noted by others, the fabric carrying case does fit the unit snugly, but I've had no difficulty removing or replacing the pump or air hose in the case.

Read Best Reviews of Slime COMP06 Pro Power Heavy-Duty 12-Volt Tire Inflator Here

The Slime tire inflator is exactly what I wanted. I was seeking durability, portability and affordability. I got all three. The inflator is built much better than most tire inflators in the same price range. It is very portable, even including a handy case so it can be stowed neatly in the trunk. For me, the price was right as well.

I added five pounds pressure to each of my Toyota Corolla tires after receiving the unit. Within two to three minutes the additional pressure was reached. Inflating a flat tire may take up to 10 minutes, but that time is much better than using a hand pump!

The Slime also includes additional attachments for basketballs, beach balls, and other inflatables. The tire attachment screws on the valve, which I much prefer over the common clip.

I recommend this product highly -I don't believe you'll be disappointed if you are seeking an affordable, portable tire inflator!

Want Slime COMP06 Pro Power Heavy-Duty 12-Volt Tire Inflator Discount?

This 'heavy duty' inflator failed after only a few uses. It was typically very slow to inflate my car's tires, but would eventually fill them to the required pressure. At one point, my tire was very low on pressure and the Slime inflator managed to bring it up to pressure after several minutes. After that, however, the unit no longer worked.

Also, for me, having the unit powered by the car's power socket, and not having a 110V alternative, was inconvenient.

I would not buy this unit again.

PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 Outlet

PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 OutletI bought this based on a recommendation from a co-worker who purchased this at a truck stop. I am so glad that I did. Its like a power strip...for your car! The 3 Edison plugs are spaced just right so that you can fit 3 wall warts, the USB power is a major plus, and the car power port on the other end is of course a necessity. I love the rubber cover for the USB jack for when it is not in use (It is made of thick, durable rubber, and mine doesn't even show signs of wear).

As part of my job, I often have to drive a truck. That being said the cord is long enough to either set the strip on the dash, or the floor. I have never had a problem with heat, fan noise, or power draw. It is also pretty heavy duty, especially considering it doesn't weigh very much at all. The strip has 4 screw slides on the back for more permanent mounting.

My only complaint (Other than not having more outlets, which just isn't practical running off of a car power port), is that the L.E.D. indicating that it is turned on could be brighter.

This item is awesome for long trips, or for when you have to wait in the truck for a long period. I would say this item is a must for truck drivers, long trips with kids, or those people with tons of gadgets. 5 out of 5, I would not hesitate to buy another one.

I've recently broke one of these by accidentally smashing the plug. Entirely my fault (not the product's). But it works so good, I bought another. Its so nice to charge and use a laptop (and other gadgets) while traveling. I've tried a few 100watt inverters to power my 85 watt computer, they have all failed me. This 150watt inverter does what I want.

The bad...

The fan is noisy, but so are most all inverters of this sort. Plugging it in is a little finicky to get a connection it could be my car's receptacle. The power light is dim; tough to see on sunny days.

The good...

I use this to power either of my two power-hungry laptops. It has never flinched nor got very warm. This item seems more durable than average. It has a heavy gauge power cord that is about 2.5 to 3 feet in length. The power light is dim; doesn't light up the car at night. The 12volt receptacle is nice.

Other...

The long shape may not work for everybody. I leave it in my car's jockybox, and it barely fits. I bought mine from Town Pump (gas station) for a higher price than Amazon's.

We were concerned that it would be powerful enough to run the PC but it worked perfectly. With 3 teenagers on a long road trip it was critical we had enough juice to power all the toys and cell phones. It powered my 17" Sony Vaio PC. We had a Samsung Tab plugged into the PC. Also kept a windows phone charged using the USB. The price on Amazon was incredible compared to the price in a the stores. I also like the "Power strip" layout and the Long cord. It could reach from the front cigarette lighter to the back seat. I also really like all the outlet options, I can charge anything anywhere. I'm going to start taking this on business trips as well. We are always having issues with enough power outlets for our PC and Iphones.

The PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 Outlet is a decent power inverter. It allows you to charge most things on the go. If you have a larger laptop make sure you only charge it while it's off, otherwise the inverter gets a little rough on your car battery. But if you have something like a small camera or cell phone that needs charged this works great.

Want PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 Outlet Discount?

Solidly built, well designed and I tested it with a volt meter and found it to produce 117 VAC (AC volts) on all three outlets. I did not test the 12VDC port or the USB port. The manual is well written and informative. The power cable is 4 feet long.

This unit produces a modified square wave to approximate a sine wave and product literature claims this is sufficient to power "most" laptops and electronic devices safely (some electronics are very sensitive to wave form). I will be using the PowerDrive to power a recently purchased Dell Vostro laptop. My expectation is that this advertised to run electronic devices safely so I'd be surprised if it didn't.

Waterproof PWM LS2024RP Solar Panel Charge Controller Regulator 12/24V 20A

Waterproof PWM LS2024RP Solar Panel Charge Controller Regulator 12/24V 20AI originally got this to be used with a portable 200 Watt system using 2=100 Watt 12V panels. It is water resistant, but water could get into the unit around the wire entry points.

Here are a few problems I have with it. It starts the charge cycle every day trying to "equalize" my RV batteries (2=6V series Trojan T105RE @12V) the voltage it tries to maintain for about 2 hours regardless of the charge state of my batteries is 14.8V. Then it drops to 14.4-6V for 30min or so. Then it "floats" at 13.8V. The main problem is that the "boost" and/or "equalize" is often too short, or too long. This cycle is "dumb" and only on a timer, but it doesn't seem to care if your batteries need more charge or not, and won't provide more if they do, nor less if they don't. The indicator light on this controller might show a "full charge" but the controller continues to charge too much sometimes, but most often not enough, leaving the batteries under charged and requiring me to use another charger to actually bring them up to full charge, using a hydrometer as a charge indicator to actually determine the charge state.

The float voltage would be too high from this controller for my batteries which should be 13.2V, and the equalize voltage would be too low from this controller, I need 15.2+V and using this controller I noticed 1 cell in my batteries was already developing a drop in voltage after using this controller 2 months or less. (not equalized, but my other charger seemed to remedy this)

I did not use the light timer feature for load control (I was interested mostly in the "waterproof" part), so I can't comment on this feature.

So for intermittent emergency use it might be okay, and it might work okay if you have better math than I do and can perfectly match your panels/batteries/load to only require 2-3 hours of full charge, such as a driveway light system or something... but its not very good for variable loads and uses such as an RV.

I didn't get enough rain to really test the waterproof part, but I did use it outside hooked to the back of my panels which I moved around the yard chasing the sun. The wires on this unit appear close to 10 gauge but may be 12, it is China built, but comes with instructions easy enough to understand in super tiny print I need a magnifying glass to read.

I will be replacing this unit with something else that is "smarter" so I don't have to be. :)

It holds my 29 series size deep cycle battery nicely. The gauge in the lid if just a guess on the batteries status but works ok. I love the strap to hold down the lid. Easy off easy on and easy to cinch it on tight :-)

Complete Solar Kit: Portable Battery Box + 15W Solar Panel + Grid Charger + 2 LED Lamps

Complete Solar Kit: Portable Battery Box + 15W Solar Panel + Grid Charger + 2 LED LampsHaving used this product many times on and off the road, I can definitely recommend it for use in remote(and not so remote) locations where getting power is a problem. Its small size solar panel makes it highly portable and allows moving it around at will. The bulbs provided are virtually indestructible and the ample cable length really improves the area of luminescence when operating it in a zero light setting. All in all the product has served me well on numerous road trips and remains my ideal choice as an emergency source of power.

Tripp Lite PV3000HF Compact Inverter 3000W 12V DC to AC 120V 2 5-15R; 2 5-20R

Tripp Lite PV3000HF Compact Inverter 3000W 12V DC to AC 120V 2 5-15R; 2 5-20RI installed this on a truck for a rancher. He needed to use electric saws, drills, and such that can usually require a generator. I tried to suggest a generator but he thought this would be better. It has been running find for a year now and he couldn't be happier. Not having to fool with gas, oil, stink, noise make this a pretty good choice. Flip the switch, plug in and use.

There is an oddity or feature about this. It saves power by a sort of use test. If you don't set the setting correctly smaller tools will not enable the unit. I think the thing can be set pretty low. Just be warned that if you try to change a cellphone it may not work on some settings. This turn off (battery save) feature may take maybe 1/4 of a second or so to bring online. Not any big deal but a small moment of start up wait. After it is on it is on until it decides to power save again. Might be able to set full power all the time if needed.

I have a few smaller of these that are on the limit of usability for hand power tools. On my first test setup with this and an old battery it proved to be more than up to the task. A test with a circular saw on wood didn't slow down the saw, a heavy duty electric impact hammer pulled off lug nuts. It can run a large hammer drill easily.

The actual install was two good batteries and some 0 gauge wire from each battery to the quad input posts. Dual grounds also. Might be you could use 3 or 4 batteries if you have to keep using this to the limits and be sure that ever watt you use needs to be charged back up as soon as possible.

It is kind of small looking, that worried me at first. Kind of lightweight too.

The remote is one of the best features. It turns it off and tells battery status and load from inside the truck.

I had to mount it in a weather proof electric box that the owner could open on hot days or high loads. I was worried about heat but the fans almost never turn on. I guess you could use it inside a box for light loads.

The only downside is the quality of the current. Unless you purchase a true sine wave you end up with a stepped square wave. Not a big deal but some TV's and other things that are made for 50 hz seem to act up a bit. The tv brightness was much dimmer. I had to use one of these in a power outage for a few hours off a truck battery.

I was impressed with this. You just have to have some monster cables and connections. A big fuse is suggested. All in the owners manual. The manual is generic for a few models but clear and contains all you need to setup and use.

Be sure you understand the safety issues. Almost impossible to ground this setup in a mobile install.

When you put a low charge to this it doesn't send the 110 V. It sends about 90V and you have a risk to damage the device plugged. when it sends the 110V works great and it's really quiet. it saves the battery very well. In general terms it's a very good product

Great inverter, no problems. It's not pure sinewave, but it powers everything I've put on it except microwaves. Electronics, tv, xbox all work fine. I ran a large water pump that will trip out my 2000W Honda. I use 4 deep cycles with heavy gauge (double 4/0) cable to get the full output. Anything less and it's just a bigger 2000W inverter.

One drawback is that it's not efficient for light load. If it's on, it's always trickling some current out of the batteries. Six to eight amps. There's an adjustable power sensor on it that drops the voltage off if theres not enough load and is supposed to be more efficient. I've never gotten it to work well and the Xantrex's do this automatically. My minifridge could be left to run over the weekend on those on a single deep cycle. This one will drain four deep cycles in 36 48 hours.

Ok folks, Don't be fooled about these frs/gmrs walkie talkies. Mind you, it's not just the Cobra brand. These are nice radios. However, the 20 mile range capabilities is just a complete lie. They can communicate about a mile at most. The reason I give this radio 3 stars is that it works well for a walkie talkie but, the ranges on these type of radios is only a mile at most. Remember, ALL Brands of this type of radio is Only a mile or two at best. I don't know why they get away with such an exaggeration, but then again look at the late night infomercials promising a hard rock body with just a rubber band. Anyway, these radios are fine for keeping up with the kids at the mall or park. Also important is that you will need a license to operate on the gmrs channels. No problem, just fill out a form with the FCC and get your call sign and go. I'm an advanced class amateur radio operator, so my review can be trusted. Hope this helps.

I wanted radios to use with headsets for a youth sports project. These indicate a headset/power connector, but its not described on the packaging or the user manual. The clerk at Walmart electronics dept was useless, and the Amazon listing did not have the description. It is a 2.5mm vs. the common 3.5 mm. I tried several headsets and a few cell phone headsets, but none worked. The manual says absolutely nothing about the headset port other than it is a shared headset/power port. I looked it up online and Cobra's website has a $19 and a $79 headset. I find that the reception of the device is more than adequate for my needs, but if you need a microphone/earphone then you should probably look at the Motorola MR350R which also has the benefit of using a USB charging port vs. a proprietary charger.

Good size, good sound, enuf range, rechargable. If you buy anything more expensive then this, it had better be magical.

There good toys but not good for anythig else. Don't even reach 1/2 mile inside a house and barely that outside. Rechargeable Batteries don't last more than 6 hours. We had hoped to use it to communicate with my dad but they are only toys and unreliable for real communication.I assumed that the 22 mile range was over hyped but did think it would do at least 5 miles disappointment!

Schumacher PC-6 120AC to 6A 12V DC Power Converter

Schumacher PC-6 120AC to 6A 12V DC Power ConverterI originally bought a different brand, which lasted about 2 minutes before it burnt out serving a power load below its rated capacity. This one works and has not failed. It does get hot. And although you may think those ridges on the sides are metal heat sinks, they are just plastic decoration. The entire case is plastic, with just a few air holes. So if you can provide some airflow to help cool it, you should do so. I am using it to power a thermoelectric cooler, so I place it next to the cooler so the cooler fan blows on it. That helps.

Original Review -

This converter works fine and gave new life to an old car stereo in my grandparents garage. Yes, like the other reviewer mentioned, this adapter is only rated for 6 amps rather than 10, but the description has been fixed now. The converter doesn't run hot while in use and the green power LED is a nice touch. However, I think that the build quality could be somewhat better, the top and bottom of the casing is warped pretty noticeably.

Update -

About a year or so after I wrote this review, I replaced the incandescent lights in my grandparents garage with fluorescent lamps. Unfortunately, whenever I would turn on the new lights, the car radio that was being powered by this converter would pick up interference from the fluorescent lamps. It would completely overpower any FM or AM station, and could even be heard when playing a CD or when using the auxiliary input. It seems this converter has very poor or no filtering. I have since switched to a Pyramid PS15KX 10A 13.8-Volt Power Supply with Cigarette Lighter Adapter, which does a great job at filtering interference and outputs more power as well. However, considering the extra expense, bulk, and heat output the Pyramid offers, I would still recommend this converter to someone who will not be powering any devices that are susceptible to RF interference.

I also have a bicycle and I already know that this will work as good! So handy and now I don't have to go to the gas station for Air in my tires. I'm very pleased. I also got this package in 5 days! It shipped a few hours from when I ordered. And I live OVERSEAS!!! in a military instillation but that is still super fast shipment. I highly recommend! Thanks for all the good postings on here & helped me decide to get it. The product itself does not look cheap, it's heavy duty & does not look cheap or it does not seem to break easy.

I use this to power my shop's off-grid lighting circuits. I use a solar panel to charge a battery bank and then this inverter to operate LED lights in the rooms. I also power one CFL and occasionally operate a 28 watt LED television (20 inch). I tried to use a Modified Sine Wave Inverter, but the tv did not turn on and I understand they are hard on LED lights. I chose such a small inverter (180 watt) because the parasitic draw is so little and my consumption is low. I now have a reliable off-grid system that I haven't touched since I put it in.

I purchased this camera based on some third party reviews I found not realizing this and some others are copy-cat models of the original GS1000 dash cam.

While I'm still learning and beginning to use the camera, the instructions are not much more than a how-to that means nothing until you figure out that the buttons are used in pairs, multiples to access certain menu/functions. My Windows7 operating system does not recognize this device nor does the supplied "driver" cd provide any driver or software that can be used to view/update drivers or firmware. Essentially you're on your own trying to get this to work with your laptop...I actually had better luck on the tv. This device might be easier to use if it came with a remote like some other models since this device was clearly made outside of the United States therefore not US centric design. Since I just now figured out how to manipulate the buttons to get to the menu functions, I'm still hopeful that I will be able to find some software that is compatible with this device to allow firmware/driver updates when needed and also allow me to view the captured images without using an SD card adapter since this camera uses a micro SD card.

I'm a highly technical person so if you're not, you may want to consider something more user-friendly.

Do your research before purchasing

I bought a GS1000 with GPS logger from E_bay for around $90. Worked great. Picture quality was great and low light performance was good. I liked it so much that I decide to get another one from E_bay. Since I didn't need the GPS logger function, I decide to get the GS1000 without GPS for around $45.

There are many "GS1000" without the GPS for sale on E_bay. Almost all of them are less than $50. Some of these advertised as 1.3M sensors. At least these sellers are honest. Other of these "GS1000" (without the GPS) advertise them with 5M sensor. I was careful to buy the one with 5M sensor. Well, big disappointment, the picture quality is not even close to the real GS1000 and when lights gets a bit dim, the camera is recoding nearly completely black due to the inferior sensor.

So be careful of the the "GS1000" without the GPS logger on E_bay and elsewhere.

4 stars for the real GS1000 and 1 star for the fake ones.

I got this dashboard camera from the shipper in good time. I read the instructions. Got the camera out and set it up on the computer, it would not come on. The light said it had power so I left it to charge for a bit. For the program to review it with the map, if you do not know much about computers you may have a bit of a problem installing the program. So a few hours later it still did not work. Next day I set it up in the car and that is when it worked. I could not get to the Menu to setting to work in the car. So I drove for the day with the way it was from the box and return home, took the camera out of the car. Set it up on the computer, It came on this time. The instructions dos not help in the menu at all. I tried to change the length of recording time. But it dos mot show it in minutes. I also tried to change the speed read out from Kilometers miles per hour which I could not accomplish. The quality of the video for the day is good, but at night was not so good. The GPS and map function when working is way off about 80 to 100 miles. I have the unit for over a week now the battery in it is no good. I have not been able to get back into the menu since the first time. I have had to put on the camera several times while driving. It somehow turns itself off. And last of all the video recording is not reliable. This is why I got the camera in the first place. I like it for the size and what it does. But it does not do what the manufacture says it does. I would not recommend it.

I have attached a video that was set to record for 15 minutes, but this is how long it has recorded several times in a row. two short less 33 seconds and one just over 2 minutes.

Bought this camera based on third party reviews (). The product itself works great exactly as described. The camera ended up being the 'New Blue Menu" version with the latest firmware 2.04. I was crossing my fingers for the Orange Menu, but no complaints. After my purchase I contacted Maxwell about which version I was going to receive, they got back with a fast reply but claimed they had no clue which version they were shipping.

Power Bright VC750W Voltage Transformer 750 Watt Step Up/Down converter 110/120 Volt - 220/240 Volt

Power Bright VC750W Voltage Transformer 750 Watt Step Up/Down converter 110/120 Volt - 220/240 VoltI have both this 750 watt model and a 200 watt model. They both do their jobs fine, consistently doubling my household voltage as measured with a multimeter. I have products that I purchased overseas and this was the simplest way to keep using them. I have not used these abroad to step voltage down. Inside, there really is not too much to the units. You select the input voltage on the rear (thus bridging that circuit) and then it all goes to the windings and then to the front receptacles. My 750 watt model had the light on the power switch fail on the first day, but this is a non-issue for me. It probably got jostled in shipping but it is not worth returning. And I don't think there is going to be a whole lot of variation among competing transformers that use the same technology. Indeed, the Chinese produced transformers appear to have largely the same design, though with different printing on the front. With free shipping (since these are heavy little boxes) and the lowest price among its competitors, this was a good deal.

I moved from the UK to the US a couple of years ago and when I first came over I didn't want to replace everything which ran on 240V instead of the 110V over here. This was a great unit for the price and coped well with everything from vacuum cleaners to stereo systems, dvd players and everything inbetween. Mine is still going strong and I find it a very useful unit.

I purchased this transformer before returning to the UK where I wanted to use some US 110V products. The input lead is fitted with a US three pin plug which I changed for a standard UK three pin plug, the input lead was UK standard, Brown Live, Blue Neutral, Green/Yellow Ground. Plugged in a US extension lead and there was a big bang and the lights went out. Luckily nothing was damaged.

Checks showed that Live to Neutral was OK at 110Volts, but Neutal to Ground at the output measured 240 Volts.

The (apparently) UK input lead had neutral and live crossed so watch out! Once corrected the unit works OK.

Two other transformers I bought with different power ratings, 200 and 500 Watt were exactly the same.

I purchased this transformer for my time deployed to Iraq, and it works extremely well. I have it hooked up to a coffee maker, and even though the transformer's fuse is rated at 7 or 8 amps, the 10 amp coffee maker still functions soundly with this transformer. That may be a plus or minus depending on your personal application, but for my needs this couldn't be better. Inexpensive, good build quality, and I am a satisfied customer.

Just received the unit via Federal Express.

I opened the box and immediately noticed the un-raveled electrical cord. I then removed the unit itself from the product box & plastic bag/sleeve and immediately noticed scratches on the top of the unit.

I further inspected the unit and discovered additional scratches along with dents, obvious dust/caked dust in corners and previous wear and use markings.

There was also a plethora of smudges and finger prints.

This unit is not new and seems to be previously used, refurbished or a floor model. I wish this information would have been disclosed prior to my purchasing this item. This is UNACCEPTABLE and I am quite displeased with this Amazon.com purchase.

NOTE: I will provide additional comments once I use and test the quality of this unit.

Premium All-in-one Car DC + Home Wall Travel Charger AC Power Adapter with Dual Charging USB Ports

Premium All-in-one Car DC + Home Wall Travel Charger AC Power Adapter with Dual Charging USB Ports for Apple Iphone 2G, Iphone 3GS, Iphone 3G, Iphone 5, Iphone 4, IPhone 4SDual input power (very, very, very, convenient), 2 output USB ports (plenty of output power), high quality workmanship and material product, outstanding support (ordered two, one had a problem and got an immediate replacement from the seller and no more problems), compact size (just a touch big, but then again for what this provides I do not see how they could have made it any smaller without loosing some of it features or quality build). NOTE: In case your concerned about short protection, the Power Adapter "is" internally fused. There is a small glass fuse for the DC input side (replaceable) and a small glass fuse for the AC input side (soldered into place). I learned this when I was troubleshooting the one that I received that had an intermittent DC power operation problem . I found the fuses to be good and the problem was with the switching circuit. I contacted the seller and they sent me an immediate replacement (outstanding support) .

You don't have to buy 2 seperate chargers. You can also charge 2 items (Kindle & phone) at the same time!

Works well. I do have to say on first trial, the phone that I was charging (Motorola Driod 3) was a bit slow to charge with this car charger, no fault of the charger probably but just being an issue with the amount of charge coming from the car battery. Works fast though as a wall charger. Very convenient. Thanks.

Jabra SP700 Bluetooth Speakerphone

Jabra SP700 Bluetooth SpeakerphoneThis is a really cool device.

I got one for my wife so she could answer and talk on the phone without looking for her headset and turning it on.

Product works as advertised, and in fact has a number of novel features.

The only "Con" is that it does not support a 2 phone household. It can only be paired to a single phone. It does not support multipoint or dual pairing like some other prodicts (the Jawbone headset). This means that to reconnect it to the secondary phone you must pair it again.

Other than that:

1) It's very loud. easy to hear

2) uses standard USB to charge

3) The FM feature allows you to listen to the caller through your car stereo

4) the caller ID of the caller is spoken to you and broadast on your radio using RDS (so you can see the text of the phone number). Very nead.

5) it announced when it has turned on, off, paired, enabled FM. It's fantastic to get this audible feedback so you know it's working.

I highly reccomned this to anyone who needs a speakerphone for their car. My only caveat is that if you plan to share a car with 2 people it's not so great unless one person only uses the SP700. I would have given it 5 stars if it supported dual pairing.

Pros:

1. Easy to pair

2. Very long lasting battery: went all week without charging

3. Allows voice dialing if your phone supports that feature: press the unit until it beeps (about 2 seconds), the phone goes into listen-for-command voice dial mode; speak into SP700 the name you want to call as it appears in your phone's list (i.e., "Home"); the phone makes the call (I'm using a Nokia 6555--not all phones have the voice dialing function) UPDATE: works even better with iPhone 4.

4. Compact.

5. Easy to charge via its USB port

6. Clear communication: both parties hear clearly (this is, after all, the main goal) with virtually no background interference or feedback

7. Announces its state: electronic voice says, "Connected," "Power off," "Incoming call from xxx-xxx-xxxx," "Call ended"

8. Automatically turns itself off 10 minutes after phone is out of range (30 feet

9. Can play music or podcasts through it if you want--assuming you have a decent player on the phone; many don't

10. Portable: it would work as a desktop speaker phone if you want and easily moves from vehicle to vehicle.

11. Easy to travel with: especially useful with rental cars.

Cons:

1. Can only pair with one phone at a time--if you have a personal and a work phone it's one or the other

2. Can be too loud--it defaults to a very loud initial volume (perfect if you have earphones jammed in your ears--you can still hear everything); it's almost painfully loud

3. You have to turn it on when you get in the car. It would be nice if it sensed the phone and turned itself on.

4. FM transmission to 88.1 or the other freqs is difficult in Los Angeles. The spectrum is so full it's almost impossible to find a clear open channel. This is hardly necessary because the built in speaker is so effective. If you really want to use your car stereo it probably can be fiddled with until it works, but why bother?

5. The control buttons (volume, FM) are poorly marked

6. Because the whole thing is a giant button (like an Apple mouse) the unit turns on easily when you put it in your briefcase.

6a. It needs a lockout lever or a hard case to stop it from being activated when you carry it.

Bottom line: it really works for both ends of the call, it's not expensive, it's portable, battery life is very long.

I purchased this device so that I could listen to my music from my Blackberry Pearl on my car stereo. The concept for the device is good. It's sleek and fits well on the visor. My phone recognized the device and they paired right away. I had the device for 2 weeks and used it almost everyday before I returned it.

The device has two modes: speaker and FM transmitter. In speaker mode, the device works just like a speakerphone for phone calls or like a speaker for music. In FM mode, it retransmits everything it receives on its bluetooth interface to an FM channel. I thought the device was a bargain selling for a street price of ~$70 when compared to an FM transmitter alone or a speakerphone alone (~$50). Boy was I completely wrong!!

The major problem with the device is that the FM mode doesn't work as advertised.

The Good:

The speaker mode worked great with my phone. I was able to make/receive calls with no issues. It would cancel out the road noise and background music. The battery lasts for a long time on one recharge -upto 18 hours (manufacture claim).

The Bad:

The device would stop transmitting in the FM mode every 10 minutes or so and I would have re-activate it. The logic on the device used to determine if the phone is streaming music is faulty. I tried emailing Jabra technical support, but never received a response.

In either mode (speaker or FM), the device would auto-adjust the volume down when it thought there was no music being played, even though it was connected to the phone and streaming music. Every minute or so, the device would automatically adjust the volume down so low that I couldn't hear the music on the FM radio any more. This was especially true on podcasts or interview type programs. Then, all of a sudden, it would re-adjust itself and transmit at full volume again for sometime until it would start adjusting the volume down again. It didn't matter what volume setting I used on the phone. There is no way to adjust the volume on the Jabra device when it is in FM mode. It was rather annoying to adjust the volume on the FM radio every minute to try to match what the device was doing.

I wasn't able to stream music from my phone to the device with the standard Blackberry music/media engine application, though it did work with the Mobiola xPlayer music/media player application. I think this is more a function of the Blackberry standard software than it is a problem with the Jabra device.

The device uses a micro-USB connector for power. My phone uses a mini-USB connector. The cigarette lighter attachment provides a standard USB interface. Since I couldn't plug the micro-USB into my phone, I needed to carry two cables for power.

The user-interface needs some work. The on/off/pair/answer functions are all combined onto one button. Jabra would have done better to put the on/off function onto its own button or use a switch.

The FM mode is not strong and distant FM stations on the same channel do intermittently interfere with the device FM signal.

The FM mode has a very low treble and very high bass response. The music actually sounds more balanced coming out of the tiny speaker than the FM stereo.

I returned the device as the main reason I bought the device was to listen to music from my phone on the car stereo. I am buying a Motorola MOTOROKR T505 instead.

Pros:

* sleek look; attaches to visor

* two modes -speaker and FM

* Speakerphone is loud; can be heard clearly over background noise

* Microphone picks up voice over moderate background noise; Works well to cancel noise when having a phone conversation

* Bluetooth paired right away; no need to re-pair each time you get into the car

* Long battery life

Cons:

* FM Mode is terrible and needs a lot of work

* FM Mode stops transmitting every 10 minutes

* Intermittent interference in FM mode

* Terrible music response in FM mode

* non-standard micro-USB connector for power

* User interface poor each button has too many functions

* Jabra does not have a North America support team. They do not respond to email inquiries.

My brother gave me a Jabra for Christmas. My phone was so old, it did not have Bluetooth technology and I went out to get a new phone just so I could use it. Well, I'm glad I did. The only time I need to talk hands-free is in the car. This is perfect for that.

The Jabra is wonderful. It's sleek and thin, doesn't obstruct my vision when on the visor. It was quick and easy to set up and use. When calls come in, I only need to touch it to answer. No more fumbling for my phone. The sound is crisp and clear. I talk mostly to my husband on it and he says the sound is clear on his end. My kids talk to him from the back of the minivan and he can hear them, too. I much prefer it to the earpiece, which I had to worry about falling out of my ear and gave listeners on the other end an echo. It's also preferable to the speakerphone function of the cellphone.

This is a wonderful gadget -one of those nice to have, makes my life easy sort of things. I'm glad I own it.

UPDATE: The battery life is remarkable. It's been three months and I've only charged it once. Admittedly, I only turn it on to make or accept calls about once a week, but most rechargeable batteries discharge over time even without use. Still haven't found any problems with this product. Two thumbs up.

I recently purchased the Jabra SP700 for my car and though I've had it for a few hours I can say this bad boy works. Myself and a couple of friends have been researching this item since we all recently purchased cars without the integrated bluetooth option that our previous company cars had (nnoooo.. :-(. We did a brief comparison test between the Jabra SP700 and the Motorola T505. Both items do it's job well but with one major caveat. The SP700 as a stand alone speaker and mic works great, better than the T505. But when you try connecting it to your radio via the FM modulator the sound is sub par. Do not buy this product if you primary intention is to stream your music or talk to people over your car's speakers. The T505 does a better job at transmitting the signal via it's FM modulator but as a stand alone talking device it does not.

Bottom line If you are looking for a stand alone bluetooth mic/speaker buy the SP700. If you are looking for an item that can stream music and allow you to talk over your car's speaker then buy the Motorola T505.
