VCAN Blinc 136 Full Face Helmet with Aviator Graphics (Gloss Black, X-Small)

Being a Harley rider for almost 20 years, I switched to a sport touring bike, and decided to go with a full face helmet. originally I was excited about the blue tooth option, it's a great idea, but it just doesn't work in this helmet. The noise in the helmet is far too great to even hear anything through the blue tooth, for audio or a phone call. In fact that is likely my biggest complaint with the helmet, it is very noisy. I just use my ipod at almost full volume. The Graphics are ok, it looks good from a distance, but they are decals, it's not a paint job. The shield mechanism works fine, and I haven't experienced too much fogging. Like I said, it's ok, take out the blue tooth and it's probably worth a $80-100 helmet. Honestly I will use it for a while and then plan to spend the money for a Shoei.

Over the past couple months I have now had three different vcan helmets (this specific one being the first).

When I opened my first helmet it had no protective padding around the helmet which probably caused the small cracks in the visor that almost seemed like a design, so after I seen the cracks start spreading I called and returned it.

When my second helmet arrived the first thing I checked for was cracks, and thankfully it had none only this time the Bluetooth button didn't work properly (sometimes couldn't turn it on, if I got it on then it wouldn't feel like being turned off, and it had a problem with charging) so after waiting another couple weeks hoping it'd get better I decided to call and have another one sent out, I am guessing the third times the charm cause this one works great (aside from some minor charging issues).

Shipping time with amazon prime was pretty good, and the functionality of the working Bluetooth is really good, I can hear my music clearly on the highway. Only downside is I can never really tell if I am getting a call while I am listening to music, and so far I have a hard time understanding everyone on the other end of the conversation if I am going about 40.

Overall if you have the patience to potentially wait as long as I did then get it, if not I'd say try something else with the same technology.

So I bought the helmet because I got a good price on it, and I don't know if I will even hook up the bluetooth. But, I do NOT find the helmet noisy and I'm wondering if the other reviewer has had full face shield helmets before which feel/sound very different from the "helmet" half shells that most of the harley riders wear. I've been shopping around my boyfriend has several helmets that I've worn and I've also used some friend's half shells too. This is among the quieter ones I've used.

Mobile Warming Classic Softshell Men's Snow Snowmobile Jacket - Black / 2X-Large

Ok so I'm not bagging on warmth from an electric jacket, but you have 4 settings. Instead of incrementing slowly and managing the warmth responsibly, it's basically a warm to scalding hot jacket. Warm works most of the time so I am happy with it's use in some situations.

1. Walking around town on 25% setting and the temp outside being around 40 F. It's good! My face might be cold, but my core is nice and warm in a pleasant way. It does however take a while to feel like it's warmed up at the lowest setting. Give it 20 minutes just to get going. After that you should be good.

2. On the motorcycle with an outer layer (in my case a leather jacket) I can ride comfortably on 50% setting with the temp being around 45 F. You need gloves and good leg ware (and of course a helmet) and it's comfortable and you really feel like it'll handle anything...until it cools off more the next week. Once you go above 50% to the 75% it has the potential to burn your skin. This is through a shirt we're talking about. I haven't tried through a sweater. That may be what they are intending. I don't know. There are no instructions that come with it that would give guidelines. From my experience, during a 3 minute ride a 75% it's going to burn you and it's going to hurt for a couple days. Be careful.

If you want to deal on the lower range or play around with layers, then you may find this a good investment. I personally am a little disappointed that they don't go up more gradually with the temperature. I'll play around some more, but it doesn't have the diverse functionality I was anticipating.

Overall: It's good, but not great. It's definitely a risky purchase since you can't return it once the tags are off. This is still new technology, so I have hope they'll continue to improve. I think this is a good around town layer, so if you just want it for walking it's a recommend (I know it seems like I'm bagging on it a lot, but my main reason for buying was for the motorcycle) just be careful with the higher settings!

TriStar TS-45 Charge Controller

This is an outstanding charge controller. Installation was clearly laid out in the owners manual with factory default charge programs that cover most battery charge point voltages. The programs are easily set using small DIP switches. If you prefer to have a custom solar charging program (ie bulk chargeing voltage of 15.0 volts with a float of 13.4 volts) you can download Morningstar's PC software and manually input the charging points.

There are 3 different colored LED's on the front of the unit that let you know how your system is performing. The LEDS will tell you the status of your battery bank charge, the stage of charging process (bulk, PWM, Float and equalization), and whether or not the batteries are discharging. You will need to refer to the owners manual the first couple of times to decipher the lights, but easy once you know what you are looking for. Additionally, the LED lights will flash different colors to indicate different faults.

Lastly, if LEDs are too complicated or frustrating for the owner, Morningstar makes a LCD display that will tell you the same things the LED's will, just in a digital readout. I have not personally used it, but it is nice to know if I want a remote digital display hanging inside my cabin, I can do that instead of trudging through the rain to the garage to see how the system is performing.

This is the second charge controller I have used for my off grid cabin, and am extremely pleased. My previous charge controller (Xantrex C60) failed within a week and customer service was horrible. Xantrex was made in China, and the quality showed. The Morningstar is made in Taiwan and it is hands down built better and sturdier than the Xantrex.

I will update if the Morningstar has any problems in the future.

I've been using the TS-45 for three years now. It is one of those products that remind me of the "good old days" when things were built to last. This charge controller is bullet proof.

After retiring I've been doing a lot more camping in my truck camper. I prefer boondocking (free camping without hookups) but was continually running my batteries dead. I hate generator noise, so opted for a solar install. Three years ago I put together a 200 watt system using the TS-45 as my charge controller. I knew I made the right choice as soon as I removed it from its packaging. It's a solid little unit.

This controller does not have MPPT, but I don't need it for my system as I am recharged by about noon every day anyway. If you're looking for the MPPT version of this controller it's the TS-MPPT-45. There is also a 60-watt version, both in PWM and MPPT. Note, however, that if you want to comply with NEC guidelines your controller's amperage rating must be equal to or greater than 125% of your solar array's short circuit current output (Isc). That means to use the TS-45 your array's Isc must not be any more than 36 amps. This controller, however, will handle solar overloads of up to 130% of rated current, which will be tapered down instead of disconnecting the array. Over-temperature conditions are handled similarly.

This controller allows you to choose solar charging or diversion charge control, choose the system voltage (12, 24 or 48v), set your absorption stage charging voltage (set point), choose automatic or manual equalization and choose between PWM or on/off charging via a series of dip switches. It has terminals for voltage sensing wires (for more accurate reading of the batteries' state of charge), and supports temperature compensation (but the remote sensor is purchased separately). Three LED lights tell you how the system is performing, but I opted to also install a Trimetric 2020 meter for more extensive readings in a digital format. A meter is also offered as an optional item to the TS-45, but I have no experience with that.

Besides what can be set via the dip switches, there is an RS-232 serial port which can be used to connect the TS-45 to your computer for more extensive settings. I have never used that feature yet so can't comment on its functionality.

Also worth mentioning is the TS-45 comes with an outstanding instruction manual. Everything is explained clearly and extensively. In this day and age when so many items come with almost non-existent instructions this was a very pleasant surprise. I keep it where I can easily get to it and often refer back to it when wanting to learn more about the system.

Three years going and not so much as a hiccup with this charge controller. In fact, I am writing this from the Southern California desert via power supplied through the TS-45 right now. After my experience with this controller, I am sold on Morningstar products.

Charge controller came with good instructions, very versitle, will cover close to 4ooo watts @ 48volts. Made well sold by an American company, but not made here, but made well. I had a problem when I first ordered the unit, my firmware was out of date (not from the Company, from a solar reseller), attempted to update firmware, and unit locked up. Unit must be configured before use, but using the free software, it is a breeze, step by step (my 12 year old did it with me!). This Black and Decker Car Battery Charger impressed me. Years ago,,I was an auto shop teacher and I was NIASE national repair mechanic certified. Right to the point, this unit used the latest SMART TECHNOLOGY to automatically and safely charge a car battery. A car had the key on start for several hours, the engine would not turn over and the lights were dim. After hook up, the charger gave readouts as to the increasing batter voltage, when fully charged, it indicated so. It also indicated the per cent of charge as it increased. Reassuring. Note that with jumper cables I could have started the vehicle but would have had to drive the vehicle for some time to recharge the battery. Very important to know is that it will NOT charge a dead battery think,,, a dead battery is truly deceased, and can not be brought back to life. I also have the "auto shut off" Black and Decker tire inflator, and it still works flawlessly. I really believe the Black and Decker car battery charger is a gem worth having in the garage, and recommend any of them in this 37 dollar price range or above. I do keep a set of jumper cables in the work truck. FINALLY, wear safety glasses, please, when connecting or any other mechanics play with car batteries. Over the years, I have seen accidents and near injury from novices or not paying careful attention. BUY IT !

I bought this item for my small John Deere tractor and it never really worked well. I was always having to fiddle with the connections to get it to stay on charging as it would say battery full and yet it had only been charging for a few minutes and the battery wouldn't turn over. With enough fiddling I was always able to charge and restart my tractor. I should have returned it, but, as many can attest, sometimes you just don't get around to it.

More recently, the charger would flip from charging to "service the battery", but the battery wasn't very old so I knew that wasn't correct. I went to my local hardware store and bought another make, and it works like a charm. I will update when I get back in town with the model that I did buy and am now happy with, but this is the 2nd Black and Decker product I have had to return (the other was a battery operate weed wacker and blower kit Black & Decker LCC220 20-Volt Max Trimmer and Sweeper Combo Kit). I am not impressed with the Black and Decker brand/products...

The solar charge controller I was worried might be cheap, as soon as I got it (which took a while, everything else arrived Monday and this arrived thursday) I noticed the size was much smaller then how big I thought it would be, it fits inside your palm. I opened it to see what kind of circuitry is inside of it and I have definately seen cheaper made components so decided to give a go and tested the mA before and after the controller, it did seem to cut into the amount of power produced by the solar panel by at least 50 mA if not more, but the peace of mind that this controller gives is DEFINATELY worth the 12 bucks I spent.

Alligator clips are excellent

Would buy it again if I was building a setup like this again.

My RV battery kept discharging when attached to a 7 watt solar panel that I had bought. I had read somewhere that you didn't need a controller if your solar panel was less than 15 watts. I found that this was not so. So I bought this device (I actually bought two, one as a spare) and hooked it up to my solar panel. The LED indicators show when the battery is charging and when it isn't. And it also keeps the battery from discharging. I'm glad that I ordered this product.

UPDATE: In response to other comments; yes, if you're charging (maintaining) large capacity batteries such as automotive or marine, a controller may be unnecessary. Caution due however with smaller batteries.

The charger works as advertised. The only thing I found lacking was a status light indicating that current was flowing to the battery when plugged into the cigarette lighter. I had to use a multimeter to check contacts at outputs for voltage 19.2 volts. It appears well made, price is reasonable, and shipping was speedy.

This does not work to charge my battery in my car because when the ignition is off there is no connection to the battery from the power port (cigarette lighter). Instead I have a spare car battery that I charge with the alligator clips and use with a power inverter to use as a power back up in case of a black out.

Have a truck I don't drive every day but alarm drains steady power and after 4 days dead. Not only does that kill a standard car battery but makes it inconvenient to get the truck started. So after my research, went with this solar maintainer because its very simple and well made. No need to worry about overcharging a car battery since its so low of wattage. The one downside or warning is don't start the vehicle with this still plugged in because it suppossedly will backfeed from the alternator and fry the unit. You can't tell from the pictures just how small this unit is. Mine also had a 50% charge upon receipt and did not take long to fully charge. I was looking for a jump starter that I could keep in my car for emergency situations. My previous jump starter was too large and I wasn't able to keep it in my car without it getting in the way. This product did not charge my Magellan GPS. It works with TomTom, as I learned at Circuit City, but not with Magellan. I ended up buying another power cord from Circuit City (actually a Garmin cord because they did not have any Magellan cords). Was a hassle.

When the original cable that came with the device malfunctioned, I purchased this product. It has been over a year now and it still works. I think this cable is more durable than the original.

For the past few years I used the SunForce 7A charge controller and it worked very well. When I added another panel to my small system I upgraded to this model to handle the extra few amps.

This charger is really a step above the SunForce model in the same price range. It is not simply an "on/off" solid state switch... it controls/limits the current to the batteries to maintain a very precise voltage. When the batteries have been fully charged, it then float-charges at a constant rate. This will keep the batteries much healthier over time than simply cycling between 13.1V and 14.2V. If you are using SLA or Gel-SLA batteries, I think you'll really find this charger is made for these types of batteries.

I like the output load control. A simple push-button on the front of the unit turns the load on/off, and the small "digital LED display" is just a red LED indicating if the load is on. It doesn't give any sort of digital readout like the details above say, however it's not necessary if you have your voltmeter handy.

The LED indicators are sufficient, telling you if the solar system is providing power, the battery condition, and the load state. The wiring terminals seem sturdy and can handle 10-gauge wire which is nice. As others have said, the manual is sort of a joke. It gives you the bare basics but since this is a pretty simple device you don't need a book to figure it out.

Really pretty happy with this unit. I was considering the SunForce 30A charger which is over 2x the price of this unit, but glad I tried this one first.

While the instructions are minimal and apparently made by those for whom English is not the first language the unit itself is first class and an order of magnitude better than the SunForce 7amp controller, which is just an on/off electric switch. My only complaint is that the LEDs are recessed and diffused, and viewable only from directly in front of the unit. I strongly urge anyone considering the SunForce controller to spend another $10 and buy this vastly superior product. It's hard to believe that there is only a $10 difference in price between this unit and the SunForce.

There was a good week delay before this vendor shipped. The product is very straightforward to hook up, and has reversed polarity protection. The green lights on the unit were indicating my battery was fully charged, yet it was only at 12.2 V (not fully charged at all). As one other person indicated, the low-voltage cut off is fairly low, and your battery would be severely depleted before disconnecting. Having a higher voltage cut off would be much better for the battery. This is basically an entry-level controller, so I figured I'd got about what I paid for. I would certainly not choose as controller for a large array, but for one or 2 panels it should perform adequately. I have yet to check the higher voltage cut off, but is it supposed to kick off at 13.1 V. The maximum input voltage is supposed to be about 14.4 V, and have not seen readings higher than this. There seems to be a lot of "noise" on input voltage, but it gets the job done nevertheless. Again, about worth what I paid for it. This is certainly not a high-end product, but does perform adequately for the price.

This is a good charge controller unit. It's passable as a low voltage load disconnect but at 11.1v disconnect, your battery is almost completely drained and that is not good for the battery.

But, I've looked around a lot for low voltage disconnect devices, and short of paying almost $100 for a certain unit that can only function as EITHER a charge controller OR a lvd, I have not found any devices that fit both needs together. Shame this unit does not have the adjustability for the low voltage disconnect, then it'd be perfect.

So, until someone produces such a device, I recommend this one for the cheap side of things, and using an LCD or audible alarm to warn when the voltage on your battery drops below 12.1+/to disconnect it manually so you are not damaging the battery by excessive discharge.

I truly enjoy this purchase.

The feature I like most is the ability to use 6mm2(10ga) wire from my solar panels.Where as most controllers only accept 4mm2(12ga) wire.

The item I like the least is the Digital feature. I thought it was a digital read out display,it turns out it is a digital controlled display. This is a minor misunderstanding on my behalf. Still I enjoy the size,price,amp rating,but mostly the wire terminal lugs ability to accept 10ga. wire.

I recommend this product.

For an inexpensive single gmrs radio it works very well. Pairs up nicely with any other gmrs radios and the range is good on it. I have not attempted to see if the 23 mile range holds true or not, but it has worked up to 16 miles so far. Battery life is decent when using standard Alkaline batteries. You can (after a lot of looking and finally a phone call to Midland) find a car charger to use with this unit and rechargeable batteries. One thing you have to remember about any radio and distance claims and that is terrain and obstacles will significantly shorten and affect the range of the device. The 16 mile range I got was over flat land desert (line of sight). In the mountains of Northern California, thick forest and hills do cut the range down to 3 miles or less, but even those using higher priced, high end radios have the same problems, so keep that in mind if this doesn't perform as intended in cluttered environments.

The quality of these chargers seems varied. I purchased 15 of these chargers for business use. Two weeks after distributing them to the employees, a couple of the employees asked to have a new charger. They claimed their current charger no longer worked.
