Initially I thought the plug just couldn't go deep enough because of the housing. At ~$3.50, it wasn't worth bothering with a return, so I shaved back a bit of the plastic to make it fit. Still no go. Could the housing still be too big? I eventually took apart the plug I was interested in. Within the plug, the wires are uninsulated with absolutely no method of keeping them from shorting to each other. At these voltages, that's not a safety hazard, but it certainly isn't dependable. My guess is that another plug in the spider is shorting, because even after I insulated the wires in that same plug and tried it without a housing, it still only worked intermittently. It's not worth spending more time on. Useless.

I tried another inexpensive cable, and unlike the other one with a white cable that reports "Unauthorized Charger", this one works just fine. It can charge an iPhone and a Verizon Motorola phone from my laptop, or from a AC-USB charger. I don't need all of the adapters from this octopus of an adapter, but I can either keep it and save someone's bacon some day, or cut off the ones I don't need (have to be careful nothing shorts. May require insulation to do this right...

This charger is so handy for travel. I have used many of the connectors and all worked well. You will need either the AC usb adapter or car usb car charger adapter but this piece eliminates carrying all those cords for various electronics. I have ordered 6 of these and all work well. There are some obsolete connectors which I don't use but the compactness of this unit is great.

This thing works! I use it to charge my cellphone and ipod while working on my laptop! I was worried because I had read mixed reviews, but for the price and what I stood to gain if it worked was worth the risk. I am glad I made the investment! It arrived earlier than scheduled too!

This "10in1" USB charger adapter allows me to keep just this one cable in my car (along with a charger that has a USB connector) to charge my iPods, cell phones (my wife and I take different connectors, both found on this cable), and bluetooth ear pieces. It even handles two devices at the same time, which is very convenient.

The cables are not very long but does work with a USB extender cable and the adapter ends that we don't use are kept out of the way with "twist-ties" (from bread loafs). Also, while this can also be used to charge your devices from a PC USB port, it will not work as a data cable.

This works well for my needs, recommended!

Cyclops CYC-S35012VR Thor 12-Volt 3-1/2 Million Candle Power SpotlightTried this to replace another spotlight that had some problems. I lucked out. This is a very good spot light.

Pro. Good bright light. My other one had quality control issues and I think a loose connection that did not allow the bulb to reach its full brightness.

Soildly made case. The other one was two thin plastic halfs screws together. When I received it they were not mated correctly to one another

Soild thumb switch. I was afraid I would not like it because it lacked the trigger switch. But it is reminiscent of the spotlights I used in my early days of police work (before we got post mounted nights). The switch is well made and eay to use.

Compact design. Its not bigger than it needs to be.

Excellent price.

Cord is a good length. The other one was a bit shorter and was always pulling out of the outlet just enough to unplug it. Very annoying. The cord is a little longer on this one (not enough to make it a nuisance ) and the cord has more flex in its coils.

Cons: Lose the red lens cover. It will only get you in trouble with the police if used from a moving car.

If you need a spotlight that can recharge then this one is not for you. If you want a spotlight that plugs direct into a 12volt outlet and has power that will get out 400+ yds then this one will put a smile on your face.

No complaints here! Everything about this light is well designed. The light is very strong and the spotlight is very sturdy. Best spotlight for the price I have found so far and I have used many over the years.

I have been using these light regularly now for about 10 months and I have to admit that my initial review is flawed as the spotlight stops working after about 2 months of regular use. I think it might be the on and off switch but I am not sure. I just know that the light all of a sudden stops working and I have opened it up and have not seen anything noticeably wrong. I tried switching adapter with no luck and I tried wiring the wires from the on and off switch directly with no luck. I have already bought 5 off these and 4 have broken. I keep buying because I have that hope that somehow if I do something different it will last longer as it is a good price for a good light (when it works). I just want to make you guys aware that it might last you more than 2 months because I do use it about 5 time a week for about 3 hours everyday.

Okay, I am done throwing away my money, the same thing happened again with this light. It honestly works for about 2 months with constant use. I don't know what better review you can get than from a guy that bought about six of these and used them on a constant base. I would think cyclops would test these out as much as I used them before selling these units. I guess they just test them out for a week or so, because I am confident that if they tested them for 2 months they would not work.

I found this light to be convenient and compact...it's brightness surprised me! The red lens can easily be removed! The grip is comfortable and the switch is located perfectly where your thumb can flip it on or off. I'm happy with this product...nothing bad to say about it.

GolfBuddy Voice GPS RangefinderI've been in the market for a golf GPS or rangefinder and have been undecided for a long time. The laser rangefinders are definitely appealing, but the form factor and having to dig a large item out of your bag when you need to get the pin distance was a major drawback. I also looked at a bunch of the new GPS systems, but many of them almost had too many functions and features enough that I knew I would be distracted during my golf round. Really, all I want is a good, reliable, accurate distance to the pin. This product is it.

I bought this a week ago on Amazon and have tested it at several golf courses -a few I was unfamiliar with and my home course where I am already dialed into the distances from playing the course several hundred times. This item is very accurate. After I bought it, I was obsessively checking the distance and comparing it with markings on the course. It always matched the plaques or sprinkler head covers of all three courses I ran this on. On one round, I was with someone using a laser and on another round I was with someone using a SkyCaddie. This item matched both each time.

But the biggest plus to this product is the form factor. You can easily clip this onto the side of your hat or your belt and forget it is there. Need the distance to the pin simple: press the button and it tells you. Need the distance to the front or back of the green press the button again for three seconds and it tells you. It is very easy to hear, yet is quiet enough that it will not disturb your playing partners in fact when the volume is turned down halfway, I doubt a playing partner five feet from you could hear it at all. If you don't want the voice, you can just peek down at your belt and see the distance in big numbers on the display, which update in real-time as you walk.

This item has two other features. One is where it will show you the actual shape of the green, and rotates that shape depending on your approach angle. I never really used this, because the graphical interface is simplistic, and I really only needed the distance to the pin. The second feature is very nice -it will record the distance between any two points. So say you want to know how far you hit your six-iron. You press a small button on the side, then the main button. Then you hit the ball and walk to it. When you get there, you press the main button again and it will tell you how far you hit the ball. I suppose you could just as easily look down before and after you hit and then do a little math, but I still found this feature to be a big bonus. I am already pretty dialed into my club distances, but if you are not exactly sure how far you are hitting each club, this was a nice feature to have.

The first round I played with it was a five-hour round, and I obsessively hit the button as I played to test it out. I still had half the battery life left, so I believe this could easily last two full rounds, especially since under normal conditions I wouldn't be activating it every single time I saw a yardage marker for comparison.

This product is small, the clip is strong so you won't lose it, and it just plain works with an unobtrusive form factor that makes it a huge bonus. The voice is a computer-sounding female voice not unlike Siri on an iPhone.

I was not sure this would be the solution I was looking for -but now I am certain that every GPS/rangefinder company will be copying this product in the next 6-9 months. It is really great. I love it.

PS when you get it, it comes with a micro-USB cord. You should go to the GolfBuddy website and make sure you have downloaded the latest firmware version. Mine needed an update, but installing it took only a few minutes and clicks on my Mac.

On a whim I bought this because the other range finders I used were either too bulky, too complicated, too high mainenance, or too hard to read. All I want is my distance so I can select my club. I don't want to have to remember to load the course, or pack batteries. I can't comfortably wear most of them on my belt and the watch ones are huge! (I have enough trouble with golf glove tan without adding watch tan.) This product solves all those issues. I wear it on my shirt and can choose to hit the button and have her tell me the distance or I can look at the display. Accuracy has been excellent. It automatically finds the course and announces the hole I am on. A charge will get you through 36 holes. It will give you distance to front, middle, or back and will also measure a shot distance. It is super easy to use! LOVE IT.

With my other range finder I had to download the course, put it in a cup holder on the golf cart, carry it with me if I walked away from the cart, etc. My golf buddy, I turn it on, clip it onto my visor and I'm set for 18. I have resisted buying a gps or laser rangefinder for many years. I had no use for a clumsy device that I would surely lose. Not to mention the time and effort to use it. Then I read about a gps device called "I am Caddie." It sounded great. It was small, light and clipped to the visor of my golf hat. All I had to do was push a button and it would tell me the distance to the center of the green. On the way to buy "I am Caddie" I ran across the Golf Buddy and bought it instead. I am glad that I did.

The main reason I chose Golf Buddy was the display. I didn't have to push a button. The distance was always on display. I had the choice to remove my hat and read the distance, or push the button and hear the distance. The same button would toggle between center, front and back of green. The distance is accurate and quickly displayed. You can walk toward the green and see the distance change. The battery lasts more than 36 holes per charge and it seems like every course is already in Golf Buddy. There is nothing to download.

There is one flaw. The Golf Buddy automatically recognizes the tee that you are on and automatically gives you the distance to that hole. If you hook or slice your shot onto or near another tee, the Golf Buddy will change holes. This can be an inconvience. But, as long as you do not stray onto another tee, you could play an entire round without ever touching the Golf Buddy. One final note, I can't tell that I am wearing the Golf Buddy on my hat.

Had mine 3 weeks and it worked fine on the six different courses that I have played.This is exacly what I was looking for simple to use, preloaded with all the courses and fits on your belt or hat. The audio feature is very effective. Several of my friends bought one after seeing mine perform. Only minor issues are that it sometimes takes 12 minutes to locate the course so turn it on while you are warming up. Also it can get confused when there are fairways perpendicular and close to yours and then you have to manually reset it to your own fairway.

This plug worked fine for a month. I did notice my (5th Gen) Nano was on the warm side after charging, but thought nothing of it. One day my Nano was super hot after charging and never worked again. DEWALT Bare-Tool DW059B 1/2-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Impact Wrench (Tool Only, No Battery)

DEWALT Bare-Tool DW059B 1/2-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Impact WrenchI own a business where we source vehicle parts for various shops obsolete parts, discontinued parts, and when we're unable to locate NOS parts used parts. I purchased this impact to replace another cordless impact that died, for mobile-use in areas where power is not available and extension cords are impractical (e.g. body shops, salvage yards, etc.).

While I've found this impact wrench to be more than capable, it has two major short-comings for those considering a battery operated impact for shop/professional use.

First, the anvil incorporates a detent pin, for retaining the socket. This makes the placing/changing a socket on the impact difficult, for most sockets. While those sockets with considerable wear usually go-on without much fight, most sockets either have to be forced onto the anvil, or the detent pin has to be manually depressed to get the socket to slip over the pin. Removing the socket can be even more problematic, if the detent pin is accidently placed into the retainer-hole that is drilled into most impact sockets. You must use a small diameter phillips or torx screwdriver to manually depress the detent pin, before it will release the socket.

Second, the "trigger" switch is non-standard and functionally poor in design. Unlike most impacts, the switch is a pivoting type of rocker-switch that is approximately 2" in length. This requires you to either reposition your hand to change from removing a bolt/nut to tightening a bolt/nut or to use your index finger for removal and ring-finger to tighten. Several people "inadvertently" used the impact in the wrong direction before getting use to the rocker-switch, and in one case significant shop-time was wasted extracting a bolt that was sheared as a result.

To the positive, this impact is very strong when it comes to bolt/nut removal. I've had it remove 32mm axle-nuts, where a 25" breaker bar could not "break" the axle-nut loose after repeated tries and this was not on a fresh battery. I routinely use it to remove pinch-bolts (spindles), subframe bolts (front wheel drive transmissions), and U-bolts (rear axle assemblies), without any significant problem.

Overall, I rate this cordless impact as follows:

Ability (5) outperforms other battery-operated impacts in the same price and torque range

Design (3) detent pin significantly increases time required to change sockets; the rocker-switch can be difficult for some to adapt to especially when you routinely change between an air-impact and cordless-impact.

Price (5) performs nearly as well as higher-priced cordless impacts, such as Milwaukee and Snap-On

Useability (3) again due to the added time required to change impact sockets (detent pin) and non-standard trigger-switch, it detracts from use in situations where the socket must be frequently changed.

If DeWalt were to produce this same cordless impact with a hog-ring type retaining anvil, as well as a single-pull switch and separate directional switch like the DC823B I could see this becoming the defacto standard in mid-range cordless impact wrenches.

Overall, I rate the DeWalt DW059B/K Impact Wrench a (4).

Great price without the battery. Very powerful. Able to easily remove lug nuts without effort or the need for a breaker bar.

Get it if you need something small (relatively) that can remove multiple sets of wheels without breaking a sweat.

Only gripe...the trigger. It isn't like a regular dewalt drill where there is the button you push back and forth to change the direction the drill goes when you pull the trigger, the trigger has an upper and lower portion...a little harder to use but fine none the less.

First of all, I never had air before. So I bought this instead of buying compressor and the hole nine yards.

I already had a 18v dewalt drill with a nicad battery. The battery is about 1 year old with not much use. At first when receiving this impact drill, I felt weak power so right away I made sure by fully charging the battery I had and trying it out. It worked well, but with automotive you know there are some stubborn bolt/nuts because of normal oxidation and things. So I would use heat/breaker bar then this which worked fine.

So just a month ago I bought the new dewalt lithium-ion battery with charger. Charged the battery and it sat for like 2 weeks. Finally had some work to do on a car where my elcheapo air tools frustrated me. Pulled out the impact drill and plugged in the new battery.

This beast blasted nuts off that I even had a hard time with a 18 inch breaker bar(more to do with position clearance; I have some guns on my arm).

So I came to the part where I put the new parts in. Normally I would torque to specs but I would at least use the drill to get close where i don't need to ratchet. I accidentally broke a bolt with this drill. It works so fast that I wasn't able to release and sure enough it snapped off the bolt with nut. Luckily it was an easy fix but I just wanted to warn people not to underestimate the ft pounds mentioned on this tool.

Good tool and price but one problem, the socket retaining device broke the very first time I used it.

The impact socket wouldn't come off for anything the first time, I ended up putting the socket in a vice and pounding the socket off with a punch and hand sledge though the center of the socket. Retainer parts flew when it finally busted loose. Don't think there was anything I could have done differently. I'm sure I could send the unit back but it seems to hold the sockets on just fine without the retainer. Besides I don't see how a replacement wrench would be any different.

As far as strength goes, it was able to break a 8" long 3/8" lag bolt in half. I've been grabbing it every time since I got instead of my 1/2" IR pneumatic impact. It's been able to break loose tractor tire lug nuts that were torqued to 250 ft/lbs.

Hard to beat that.

I purchased this to remove lug nuts from my cars and trucks. I went with the bare tool as I already had 18v Dewalt tools that worked great. Opened it up, inserted a freshly charged battery and tried to take the lug nuts off my Ford Super Duty (14mm) with no luck. Doesn't even seem to be trying. I typically torque them to around 125 lb. ft. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on other, smaller nuts yet, but I'm not too hopeful. Still trying to decide whether to keep it or send it back. Very disapointed.

I ordered this AutoPage Alarm with Remote Car Starter 915 from DiscountsJungle in late 2010. It was installed by a local installer in St. Louis. Fine installation. Strange remote. The remote resets its time every time it is turned back on (it turns itself off to save power). The remote supposedly can be programmed to stay on I have not been able to make that work. On the other hand the remote is very power hungry and if on all the time needs recharging often. Once off, the remote must be slapped against something (hand/leg) to activate a motion sensor and the lock button must be pressed to turn back on. This is not documented in the owners manual. When the remote is turned off you will not be notified if the alarm goes off. So much for a 2-way remote. I wish I had my Audiovox alarm back.

Nobody respects anything that's not theirs, and I like to ensure everything is done to perfection without ruining anything. If you are technical and have patience, these systems are not difficult to install by any means. It's just a matter of knowing a little bit about electricity (12 Volts DC), locating the wires in your car that you need to tap onto, knowing how to carefully remove the panels in your car without breaking anything, and using the proper test tools, connectors, and wire wrap to make a very clean install without even cutting wires or drilling holes.

---Preface---

After purchasing a third car, needing to upgrade the systems in my current two cars, and researching the current selection of alarms, I decided to try each of the Directed Electronics Viper 5704, the Audiovox CodeAlarm ca6551sst, and the AutoPage CS3-RS915-LCD. They are all in the same class of 2-way paging alarms with remote start, and use spread spectrum technology to communicate between the main unit and the key fob. For those of you that don't know, this technology has been around for a while, and simply means that the communications can occur on multiple frequencies. This is good in case there is interference on one frequency, the transmissions can potentially get through to the receiver on another frequency.

Besides having long range 2-way and spread spectrum technology, the other things that are important to me when selecting a security system:

*Rechargeable remote I hated having to keep a stash of AAA batteries around for my previous security systems.

*Good manufacturer reputation I've had good luck with my AutoPage system, and I know that Audiovox has been around for a while. I gave DEI a shot again just based on their name. I have used a lot of their accessories in the past (shock sensors, motion sensor, power door lock actuators, etc.) and have had good luck. DEI is the largest car security system manufacturer out there. DEI was founded by Darrell Issa, who is currently a congressman with a new worth of approximately $½ billion. One big problem I have with DEI is that they are very partner focused, and don't warranty their systems if they aren't installed by an authorized DEI dealer. This also means if you lose the (very un-detailed) install/wiring guide that the system comes with, you're not going to just be able to download it from their web site. So, make sure you take photos of it/make copies before you lose or destroy it. AutoPage and Audiovox both make their install guides available for download on their web sites, and I suggest you review those as well as the user's manual entirely before deciding on a system to purchase since they will give you a lot of information as to the functionality.

*Lots of customization options one important thing for me is to be able to disable the arm and disarm chirps. Since the remotes for 2-way security systems such as these beep/vibrate to confirm that you've successfully armed/disarmed the systems, why would you want your car's siren or horn to chirp as well, unless you're trying to show off? I like to be stealth! The arm/disarm confirmation chirps can be enabled and disabled through the customization programming that's described in the install manual of all of these alarms.

*Two car functionality All these systems support 2 cars, with varying difficulty of switching the remote from one car to the other.

*Vibrating remote Being in a noisy place can easily drown out the high pitched sounds that the key fob makes when your alarm goes off.

---The Reviews---

I installed the DEI Viper 5901 in my older car several years ago. I purchased the 5901 and a competitive AutoPage alarm that came with a color OLED display at the same time. I decided to send the AutoPage alarm back and keep the 5901 in that car due to it having better range when comparing side by side, and the AutoPage's fob's color OLED display being impossible to see in sunlight. Had I have known the problems I was going to run into with DEI's junk 5901, I would have returned them both and purchased the AutoPage system with the non-color LCD display and with the spread spectrum technology. (Spread spectrum allows for communicating over multiple frequencies to get around interference.)

Going back to my DEI Viper 5901, it has a major flaw where once every 2-3 months it will take 100's of tries of hitting the unlock button to disarm the system and unlock the car. I usually will end up having to use my key to get into my car, setting off the alarm along with making everyone around look and/or waking up all the neighbors, and quickly reaching under the dash and pulling the system's wire to the horn/power (whichever I could get to first). Pulling the power and resetting the system will fix the problem temporarily. The Viper 5901 would also frequently have a long delay before actually arming/locking and disarming/unlocking after hitting a button on the fob. Furthermore, sometimes pushing the buttons on the fob would have no effect at all, not even a confirmation beep like the fob would normally emit when pushing a button. I've read some other reviewers complain about this as well. I also have a couple other gripes with it, one being that the car finder will simply lay on the horn solid for several seconds, rather than a series of short beeps (like the CodeAlarm and the AutoPage systems will do). The way the 5901 and now the new 5704 just slams the horn solid for several seconds is a great way of getting people near your car pissed off and getting everyone to stare at you looking for your car. Maybe if you're the type to always pay attention to where you park or live in a small village somewhere and don't ever travel to a shopping mall this won't be a problem for you. Like many people out there though I have a very busy lifestyle with a lot of ADD and distractions, so I need to have a good functioning car finder! Second, even though you would have the system set to not chirp when arming/disarming, if the battery in the fob was low, it would chirp the horn for a long duration after about a 5-10 seconds from disarming the system. This was very frustrating at night when trying to wake everyone up, including the neighbors. The fob beeps when the battery is low anyhow, so why does it need to chirp your horn in addition? Also, if by design you're going to make the system chirp the horn when the battery in your fob is low, why have it chirp when you're going to the car???? It should chirp when you're leaving your car because that's when you're most likely going to go inside somewhere that you can charge it! There's also no option to disable this. Lastly, they decided it would be smart to integrate the shock sensor into the unit on the 5901. Ridiculous! This all just goes to show how little common sense the engineers who designed this thing have.

I called DEI to mention these problems, and some cocky kid answered the phone that had no interest in my comments. They did verify that the car finder and fob battery low chirp issues I mentioned above had not been corrected, and I verified this after receiving the new Viper 5704V and testing it.

After receiving each system, I first hooked them up on the bench to test. The first test was the power draw when armed and not alarming. This is important if you're going to let your car sit armed for an extended duration, like at an airport parking lot. The Viper and the CodeAlarm each drew ~40ma when armed, and the AutoPage ~24ma. Next was the range test. With the antennas all near each other, the range was almost identical when walking around my city neighborhood. Of course, it was no where near a mile that all the manufacturers claimed more like 1200 feet down to the end of my street. Sometimes the CodeAlarm would work where the Viper wouldn't, and vice versa. I'm sure the FCC has a transmit power limit that the manufacturers must abide by. Expect around 1000-1500 feet at the most. If you really want to get notified, you can always get a prepaid SIM card and a 12v GSM alarm from eBay so you can get a text message on your cell phone. I will tell you I can park my car half way out in the parking lot of a typical WalMart or grocery store, and be able to communicate with my car half way into the store. Range is very dependant on obstructions.

One thing to note is that these systems are not capable of full duplex communications between the system and the fob, meaning that if the system is transmitting to the fob, the system will not receive any button pushes on your fob. This is relevant in a couple scenarios. First, if your car is alarming, expect it to take up to 15 seconds of you standing there pushing the button on your fob for your system to stop alarming. This is because your system will be transmitting to alert your remote that there it is in alarm. The manufactures may have designed in periodic brief pauses in the transmission to allow for a signal from the remote to get through, and if you're lucky to press the button at just the right time, you might get your system to stop alarming sooner. In my tests, I was able to stop the AutoPage from alarming the soonest. This also applies to remote start. After your system starts your car, it will be transmitting to confirm that your car has started. You'll have to wait up to 15 seconds to be able to disarm your alarm and unlock your doors after using remote start. If I'm in a safe area, I'll usually disarm the system before activating remote start.

Another thing to note with the fob communications is that for all of these systems it may take up to 10 seconds or so for your fob to be notified of your security system going off. The fobs from all manufacturers work similar to cell phones to conserve the battery life they only turn the receiver on every so many seconds. So, if your security system happens to be triggered right after your fob went out of listening mode, you may have lost valuable time to nab the perpetrator who broke into or crashed into your car. From my tests, the AutoPage had the slowest frequency of checks and took the longest to be notified of an alarm condition.

Each system has a "warn away" function that relies on the dual stage shock sensor they come with. When a lighter touch on your vehicle is detected, the siren/horn chirps quickly. I find that the "warn away" is pretty much useless, and is frequently set off by loud motorcycles driving by. The warn-away feature is complicated by the fact that the shock sensors that these systems come with only have a single adjustment, rather than a separate adjustment for each stage. So, you can't customize your sensitivity for full alarm vs. warn away and you may end up with lots of warn away pages/beeps if you like your shock sensor sensitive. You might be better off either not using the warn-away, or purchasing a separate shock sensor (they are cheap) just for the warn away function to be adjustable. In my case I installed a front and rear shock sensor in my daily driver for better coverage of my car. In my car that I installed the AutoPage system in, I had to rig the warn-away wire over to the full alarm input to get better sensitivity. I also had to use a DEI504D shock sensor with the AutoPage system due to the bug mentioned below and the fact that it has better sensitivity than the AutoPage OEM shock sensor.

--Pros and Cons of the Systems--

First, I'm very jaded against DEI with the bad experience I had with my 5901. Furthermore, the issues I had with the battery low warning chirping your horn/siren when you go to your car, and the car finder have been carried over to the 5704V. The other disaster with the 5901 was that the shock sensor was integrated into the 5901, which limited your installation locations. Thankfully, due to enough complaints, DEI did not carry this dumb idea over to the 5704. The only thing that was nice about having the integrated shock sensor was that you could adjust the sensitivity from your remote, vs. having to potentially pull apart interior panels to adjust your shock sensor. If these companies could come up with a standard to be able to adjust the shock sensor sensitivity from the system itself rather than the shock sensor, that would be great!

The DEI 5704 has the most fine tuning options of any of the systems, as well as programmable output wires. The vast majority of people will not need to make use of these, and furthermore, you need to purchase a DEI Bitwriter to program many of those options. They could have just put a USB or serial port on the main system, but DEI wants to sell you an additional piece of hardware. Some of the Bitwriter options include remote start run time by the minute, smart start temperature, and siren duration by the seconds. You can also customize the key fob icon for each of the Aux outputs to Trunk, Window, and Sunroof with a Bitwriter. For me, I would rather not have the above problems, not have to buy a Bitwriter, and slightly less customization capabilities.

In regards to the key fobs, the fob for the 5704 is the same as the one used with my older 5901. One complaint I had with that was that the rubber cover over the USB charging port only lasted a few months before disintegrating. Of all three of the fobs, none have an extremely noticeable vibration capability. During an alarm, the CodeAlarm and the Viper had the most noticeable vibrator, with the AutoPage being slightly less. I can tell you from the Viper that I've had mixed results with the vibrator alerting me. The problem is that none of the fobs actually vibrate and sound at the same time. Rather they sound, then vibrate briefly, then sound again. The piezzo buzzer on the AutoPage fob, however, is at least twice as loud as the one on both the Viper and the CodeAlarm. In fact, I find myself having to use the AutoPage's fob while it's in my pocket sine it's so piercingly loud.

The Viper 5704 and the AutoPage CS3-RS915LCD both have mini USB connectors on the key fobs. The CodeAlarm has the more modern style, micro USB charging connector. If you're an iPhone user, you're going to have to have multiple chargers in either scenario. If you're an Android user, you'll be happy with the CodeAlarm's fob since it's nice to have one universal charger that will work for your phone and your key fob, not to mention there will certainly be lots of your friends and coworkers that will have a micro-USB charger lying around if needed. The fobs that come with the AutoPage and the CodeAlarm both have painted fronts, and expect them to wear quickly. The plating on the CodeAlarm and AutoPage's fobs have both disintegrated pretty well over several months. I wish they would just leave the paint off and leave them rubberized black plastic. The silver paint on my Viper fob is half gone exposing an ugly greenish plastic underneath. Finally, I found with all the fobs, that it's very easy to accidentally hit one of the super large lock/unlock buttons when they're moving around in your pocket. One thing with the AutoPage, if you hit the lock button while the system is already armed, it triggers the car finder and will beep your horn annoying. With the CodeAlarm, you have to hit a side button to trigger the car finder, which is difficult to do by accident. If you manage to hold down the unlock button, that ends up being a trunk release, if you have that functionality in your vehicle.

The fob for the AutoPage is almost identical to the CodeAlarm (they both must be using the same manufacturer for the remotes), but the navigation is completely different. Getting to 2-car mode with the CodeAlarm is much easier just press the F button, then lock and unlock together. With the AutoPage, you have to go through the menu, which can be tricky (though it's at least a menu vs. having to memorize some random key sequences). For the Viper, you have to hold down the F button as well to change to car 2. I like how you can also customize the color on the Viper's and the AutoPage's fob's backlights. As far as battery life goes, you should get at the very minimum around 5 weeks or more per charge on any of the fobs depending on usage.

From experience with the key fobs, the plastic LCD display covers get scratched and blurred very quickly from being in your pocket, bag, etc with other keys and items. At the same time you get one of these systems, get some good quality screen protectors with STRONG adhesive so they don't peel up. When you get the systems, they come with a cheap plastic sticky protector on the fob's display. Peel that off and keep it to use as a template to cut screen protectors. Put it on top of a screen protector, and trace around it with a fine tip marker (I use the fine tip Sharpies). Cut out inside the line you drew. It's not going to be perfect, but it's better than eventually having a blurry and scratched display. Oh, and make sure you clean the grease, etc. off your fob's display with rubbing alcohol before applying the screen protector.

For the remote start functionality, they all behave pretty similarly, though I've only tested the CodeAlarm in practice. The only two difference I see are that first, you have more one more option with the AutoPage to avoid accidental starts. With all of them, you can at the very least set them so you need to hit the start button twice within a few seconds. Second, with both the AutoPage and Viper, you can have temperature controlled starts, with the AutoPage able to be set at 0 degrees F, and 15 degrees F, and Viper only 0 degrees, but the Viper customizable to 10 degree F increments if you also have a Bitwriter. The Viper can also start your car at a high temperature for cooling, where the AutoPage only has a low temperature. The viper might be helpful for you if you happened to need to leave a pet in the car in a hot climate. For me, I would never use temperature controller start, and I would carefully consider whether or not you would use it before making a decision based on this.

So far, I've had no major issues with the remote start functionality of the ca6551sst. I tested it in combination with an iDatalink transponder bypass, as well as a DEI PKALL, but it took many, many tries to get the PKALL programmed, so I didn't trust it. With both bypasses I had to increase the crank time since they're slow to send the code, but the ca6551sst let me easily adjust that. And that leads me to one more difference in the remote start the Viper and the AutoPage have several more options for crank time than the CodeAlarm, but again that hasn't posed an issue for me with the CodeAlarm.

As far as the alarm functionality goes, the CodeAlarm has an enormous win over the Viper and AutoPage, and that is that if you use the horn for your alarm, when your alarm is triggered it will optionally (by default) hold on your horn with random brief pauses! This definitely is an attention getter wow! Personally, I don't hook up the included sirens, I only use the horn since I don't like to drill a hole through the car's firewall to run a wire for the siren. Sometimes you can find an unused wire in your car to use for the siren, or just be able to slip a wire through an existing hole through the firewall.

As with my Viper, when disarming the CodeAlarm I've found that once or twice a week it will take 1-2 button pushes to disarm the security system, where each time I'm standing within a few feet of the vehicle. Fortunately it hasn't been the 100's of times it would take with the Viper.

One other issue I have with the CodeAlarm is that there is a "ground while armed" wire on the CodeAlarm that I use for a secondary warning LED that I mounted on the dash of my vehicle. Unfortunately, it's also on during remote start even when the system is disarmed. Because of this, it stays on until I put my key in the ignition, turn it to on, and press the brake to release the system's control over the starter. This means I'm going to have to get a relay that will cut off ground to the LED during remote start. The Viper on the other hand has 4 programmable outputs that you can set either to validity, link to arm, link to disarm, link to arm/disarm, or remote start only. They're all controllable from the fob. It's nice that they have these built in, but you'll need a Bitwriter to program and fob icon and the latch time away from the default of 30 seconds if you're planning on using them for window rollup and/or sunroof closure. The AutoPage has 3 programmable outputs, and you can program the timer from 1 second to 2 minutes without any sort of add-on. For the CodeAlarm you'll need an external timer relay.

The AutoPage is the only one of the three that doesn't have warning LEDs on the antenna, and comes with an external LED. This is important to me since the antenna can draw attention to the antenna's location. If someone is smart enough, they could break into your car and if they rip off the antenna quick enough, you would never get a page. On the other hand though, not having LEDs integrated into the antenna could be a drawback for the install since then you have to find a place to mount your LED, and potentially have to drill a hole somewhere. For me, I purchased a small black plastic project box, drill a hole in it, mounted the LED in, and mounted the box in the car using double sided 3m sticky mounting squares found at Walmart.

One other note is that the CodeAlarm has no car temperature check functionality, whereas both the Viper and CodeAlarm do. Also, as alluded to above, both the AutoPage and the Viper have extra programmable outputs if you want them to close your windows, sunroof, etc. The CodeAlarm only has one programmable output, though on the Viper and AutoPage, those outputs have various limited functionality. I suggest downloading the manuals for more info.

In regards to support, I did contact DEI three times twice by phone, and once by email. I definitely have to give them credit as they answered me each time in a timely fashion by phone and email. I tried calling AutoPage, and was not able to get through on their consumer phone support number. I also tried emailing AutoPage, and I never received a reply. I did not try contacting CodeAlarm's support.

In summary, I think any of these can be winners depending on your requirements, likes, and dislikes. The AutoPage has everything the CodeAlarm has and then some, except for the random horn honk feature when alarming. The big thing that I really like about the CodeAlarm is definitely the random horn honks that would really get people's attention in a parking lot full of cars where most people have learned to tune out car alarm honking. However, the AutoPage does have a slightly better fob with a more powerful vibrator and much louder sound which is really important to me. I also like how the AutoPage will let you change the fob's background color whereas the CodeAlarm will not, not that this should be a deciding factor. I would only go with the Viper if for some reason I didn't mind purchasing a Bitwriter, needed an extreme customization option, or the high temp auto start capability. Personally, my favorite is the CodeAlarm.

Lastly, it should be mentioned that all three have the ability to link to optional cellular based add-ons that you pay subscription fees for so you can get alarm notifications, start your car, unlock your doors, etc. from a smart phone. AutoPage calls their's C3. DEI/Viper calls theirs SmartStart (not good reviews here on Amazon), and CodeAlarm (Audiovox) calls their add-on 220Carlink. The DEI/Viper and the AutoPage both have GPS tracking available. The subscription fees vary, so do some homework.

---Major Bug with AutoPage System Received---

Finally, I must mention that the AutoPage systems apparently have a manufacturing bug at this time. I purchased two from different resellers, and they both had this bug. The majority of the time, triggering the warn-away stage on the shock sensor will subsequently trip the 2nd stage/full alarm for the majority of the time. Other times it behaves normally for a while until the unit is power cycled. Or, if the unit is power cycle, it will start misbehaving again. Sometimes when the 1st stage is tripped, the LED's for both stages go into a frenzy for a minute or so, though the alarm never gets triggered. When I remove the blue wire from the shock sensor harness (the 2nd stage trigger), the 2nd stage doesn't get triggered. When I have the system set in shock sensor test mode, it behaves fine. It also works fine when paired with a DEI 504d shock sensor. So, the problem appears to be a combination of the main unit and the shock sensor. This problem could go unnoticed since unless you are paying close attention, the only symptom one would see, depending on how and what you were doing you set your shock sensor's sensitivity, is that occasionally it will either take much less of a hit to set the system off (if you set the shock sensor sensitivity when it was behaving normal), or it will take a much harder hit to set the system off (if you set the shock sensor when it was acting up). Personally, I hate the warn away feature since it's an annoyance, and I always pull the warn away wire out of the shock sensor's harness (the green wire in this case), so it's not a big deal. It's still a bug though that makes me doubt AutoPage's quality control.

If anyone else out there reads this review that has one of these system, please test your shock sensor out over a few days time and leave a comment here letting us know if you're experiencing the same issue. You will see this issue as it will be impossible to just trigger the warn-away feature of the shock sensor. With a light hit, the green LED will light first, followed by another blink of the green LED, then the red LED.

Good product that works well. Protects my car and starts it everytime I have used it. It is powerful enough where I can start my car in my bedroom and it will turn on in the driveway, but I am not sure that there is a 1 mile range as when I am further away from my car it is not in range to start. The LCD screen is convenient and lets me know that my car is started but the instructions to check the temp and set timer, etc are a little tough and you have to cycle through buttons alot. I had to get this device professionally installed which made it a bit more expensive, but overall it was still a lot cheaper than buying a device off of a chain store and having them install it. I would probably buy this product again if I needed something similar, but would more likely lean towards the starters that work from smart-hones and ipods.

RCA USBNL1R USB Home Nightlight Charger - WhiteThe RCA USB HOME NIGHTLIGHT CHARGER is a wall plug nightlight and USB charger. It has a light sensor on the front so that it can determine how bright the nightlight should be. Overall, it's a rather large device for what it does. A couple of points here:

1. The USB charger works for all my iOS devices, including my iPad 2. But it doesn't support my Blackberry or my daughter's cell phone. I've seen this before with other USB chargers and I don't understand it. Isn't there a standard? Isn't it called Universal Serial Bus (USB) for a reason? UNIVERSAL? Since I don't understand why it doesn't work on my Blackberry, I can't ding the charger. But it's still frustrating.

2. The light was bright for about a week. Ever since, it has been very dim, despite the ambient light level. Covering the light sensor seems to have no effect. So either the sensor or the LED is faulty.

I can't really recommend this device since the light is far too dim to be useful. As I said, out of the package, it was very bright, but that was short-lived.

I was disappointed that the light on this went out after about 3 months of use. It still works as a charger, though. Until the light completely stopped working, it was a nice, little night light giving off just the right amount of light. Given the light's short life span, however, I would not recommend this product to anybody.

The product is functional and especially useful for travel so I am not sure why it is called a home device. Older hotel rooms often lack outlets to charge the many items we all travel with. I also travel with a night light which I often have to leave unplugged to charge a device however, with this nightlight charger the problem is solved. It covers only one plug and is reliable and easy to use. Of course the nightlight charger is functional and useful for your home as well.

In a normally lit room, one with sunlight coming in the window above the electrical outlet with the Nightlight Charger plugged in, the light in the sensor is on, In a room with overhead lighting, the sensor is on. The only time I have seen the sensor off during the day is when it was directly under a skylight, or if it is unplugged.

The 2212 instantly started a dead battery on cold mornings. The 3 amp charger is much faster than cheapo models.

Basically it is a durable solid unit. You'll need to spend over $200 for a better jump starter. The long cables let me solidly place it while jumping, unlike the other boxes that barely reached.

Buy it & you will love the security of genuinely professional grade peace of mind.

Ill give you the good news first. This item will spin my 4.3 liter high-compression V8 like there's no tomorrow, and it will do it at least 5 times on one charge. It will hold a fresh charge for three months. It has a huge red digital readout that serves several purposes. It will let you know when you have a good connection to a car battery before you switch it on. It will let you know how much voltage it is providing, and it will tell you the charge state of its internal battery when it is in charge mode. There is also a warning if you cross up your leads. There is a cigarette lighter socket for 12V access.

Now for the bad news. First, you have to provide an extension cord, and, when you do, there's no place to store one of any length on the device. My advice is to buy the shortest single-socket 16AWG cord you can, and squeeze it onto one of the side hooks where the leads are stored. Otherwise expect to just leave the cord behind (probably the manufacturer's intent) or carry it separately. Second, while you can leave the charger plugged in full time without overcharging, there is a noisy fan that runs full time (and draws about 6 watts along with the display). Even if you charge it in your garage, you probably won't want to just plug it in and forget it for two years, because that fan will wear out sooner or later. At least it sounds like it will. (I wish they'd used a quieter fan of the type that comes on desktop computers.) Don't plan to store it in an unheated area in winter, because performance will suffer severely, although a sealed garage is probably warm enough in most climates. Finally, you can't use this thing as a charger to maintain a car's battery in the garage. It's not designed for that and won't allow it.

I'd like to make a couple of final points about battery-powered, jump-start devices in general. If your car's battery has failed catastrophically, meaning it's almost like a short circuit, you must disconnect one lead of the battery before using one of these. (Assuming your alternator is good, you can reconnect the battery once the car is running.) Otherwise, the bad battery will suck the charge out of the jump-starter. You may have encountered such situations with jumper cables, when you find you have to partially recharge the dead battery with a running car's alternator before you can start the car. This is the kind of thing that happens when you leave the lights on for a long time. It should not be the kind of thing that happens when you have tried to start the car and heard a clicking noise.

If your car's battery is dead because you've run it down while trying to start the car, you'll probably run the jump-starter down too. In fact, it will probably run down faster than your car's battery did, just because it's not as big. Don't blame the jump starter for either of these situations.

This jump-started does what it's supposed to do, and it is a good price. If you can live with the cord and the fan, and you don't ask it to perform miracles, you'll be happy with your purchase.

If you buy this product, watch out for one very strange quirk: No matter how fully charged the battery is, the digital readout will ALWAYS say it is 10% charged when you plug it into a charger. The readout will slowly creep up towards 100% over a few hours. But this readout is false: It has no connection to the actual charge on the battery. To determine the actual charge on the battery, press the "%" button on the unit and it will tell you the actual percentage the item is charged.

The Schumacher customer service department doesn't know that this is how the product works, and they will tell you that the unit is broken if you ask about it. You'll then have to pay $35 to ship the unit back to them to get a new one (it's very heavy), and it will take several weeks, and the new one will seem broken, too. But it's not: It's just a strange quirk of the way these machines are designed. Trust me: This happened to me twice before I figured it out on my own.

UPDATE: I have changed my rating of this item from three stars to one star because after having the unit replaced twice for the reason above, the third unit I received just totally stopped working within about two months of it being sent to me. This time, the unit was really dead: It takes no charge no matter how long it is plugged in, and gives zero read out. Ironically, I couldn't get a replacement unit because the new replacement was no longer under warrantee: The clock on the one-year warrantee started ticking when I received the first unit, and it was just about elapsed when I received the third one. So I ended up spending a year dealing with the service department to "fix" units that weren't broken, and then at the end I received a unit that stopped working after about 2 months. I guess it just wan't meant to be. I hope others are luckier with this product than I was!

I am on my fourth jumpstarer and after all the previous junk this is a keeper. At 22 ah it delivers enough cranking power for must vehicles, in a nutshell it is a self contained unit with trickle charger and voltmeter, the fan that cools the charger is a little bit loud and never shuts down even after full charge is reached don't know why. Finally I own a REAL jumpstarter.

This box sells for $300+ on the tool trucks, and is a professional class jump starter. You can crank a turbo diesel that has two batteries with this bad boy and not even make it sweat. Im giving it 5 stars even though you will have to buy an extension cord to charge it(because the jumper does not come with one). Any one in the automotive industry needs one of these in their shop.

Generic Micro USB Car Charger

Generic Micro USB Car ChargerThis charger has an electrical shortage after a week of usage. Whenever I plug it into the cigarette lighter the light comes on notifying me of power,however my cell's screen displays that this is not recommended for my phone. Also I need to hold the end of the charger a certain angle to get the current to flow.

When I plug it into my car, it started shorting out. Would not recommend this....guess you get what you pay for.

Not able to use because GPS unit believes that it is connected to a PC and not a power source. Cannot access directions while it thinks is connected to PC. Have had same issue with other mini USB car chargers as Magellan seems to use non standard mini USB.

It does not work in Car. You need to go for "Magellan Vehicle AN0201SWXXX Power Adapter / FM Antenna" for Magellan Maestro 4250.

I do not recommend to buy it.

Finally found one that worked. Note that the Magellan uses a special type and not just any USB can charge it. This one works.

Koolatron P9 Traveler III 9.8-Quart Electric Cooler/Warmer, Greybought this cooler as a gift for my husband. he is on the road all day and tired of drive-thru. he was using a regular cooler and the ice packs just wouldn't keep drinks cool all day on the blistering hot days. my husband loves this electric cooler. he does not pre-chill the cooler before packing it, but all food and drinks placed in the cooler are pre-chilled. he does not have to add ice packs, the cooler does the job. my husband's only negative comment is he wishes the power cord was a little longer.

1st cooler was received damaged, but i called customer service and i had the replacement in 3 days. no cost to customer to return the damaged one.

Very disappointed in this product. The first time I used it the plastic hinge on the lid became distorted. The lid is difficult to open.

The instructions was a single page and though written in English, were not clear. It took me a while to figure out how to make it cool or warm. It stopped cooling after one use and I had it plugged in correctly.

The provided strap was unattached. No Instructions were included on how to attach the strap. Also, the strap is a cheaper version of what is displayed on the packaging.

I'll go back to my old ice cooler.

I requested 3 times a return thru email ( as directed). With no reponse from the shipper. Extremely dissapointed with customer service!

The P9 Koolatron works well and is the size I wanted. But the fan noise is excessive, very irritating. I bought a $5 CPU fan from a computer store

and modified it and replaced the fan that came with the cooler. It is now much quieter and it works well. The manufacturer should put in a better fan.

It has some other end but not a mini USB. It seems to fit the data port(?) It's flatter and wider but won't fit the mini USB.
