Fosmon® Premium Quality USB Cradle Desktop Charger Pod for AT&T HTC Surround 7 with Extra Battery

Fosmon® Premium Quality USB Cradle Desktop Charger Pod for AT&T HTC Surround 7 with Extra Battery Charging SlotThis cradle serves the exact purpose I wanted. A stand up charger for my HTC 7 Surround phone. I've searched throughout the internet and was unable to find any other cradle/charger options.

The sync cable works great with no issues so far.

The only downside is the brightness of the LED power indicator. It nearly lights up my bedroom at night. It took a couple of days to get used to that.

iRecharge IPR3 Rechargeable Battery Bundle for iPod Shuffle

iRecharge IPR3 Rechargeable Battery Bundle for iPod Shuffle
  • Handy rechargeable battery bundle designed for the iPod shuffle
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack lets you charge shuffle without power source
  • Delivers up to 40 hours per charge; charges via USB adapter
  • Includes green, blue, and clear sleeves to protect shuffle from dust and scratches
  • Backed by 3-year warranty

Yes, this inexpensive charger will recharge an iPhone (or any 4th generation or newer iPod.) I used this on my iPhone 3GS and it worked perfectly. The package only includes one USB cable, which you use to charge-up the iRecharge battery. You need to provide your own docking cable (included with the iPhone or iPod) to charge/power the iPhone (iPod).

In my very non-scientific test, I discovered the iRecharge will charge the iPhone battery at the rate of about 5% per 10 minutes. (I drained my iPhone to 30% and it reached a 100% charge in about 2 hours, 20 minutes.)

It is light weight but a bit awkward to use (it was designed to seat an iPod Shuffle while charging, so attaching the USB-dock cable requires somewhat nimble fingers; even more-so when detaching the cable.) If you have an extra docking cable, I suppose you could leave one attached at all times as long as you are careful not to short it.

Overall, an excellent portable, emergency power source for your iPhone or iPod.

Aluratek APB04F Dual USB 10000mAh External Battery Pack for Charging of Tablets Smartphones eReader

Aluratek APB04F Dual USB 10000mAh External Battery Pack for Charging of Tablets Smartphones eReaders and Other Mobile Devices
  • 10000mAh Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery
  • Dual USB Charging Ports 2.1 Amp
  • LED Charge Status Indicators
  • Rapid Charging Technology Built In
  • Sleek Design

Now that we're seeing the beginnings of the first true 4G mobile networks, smartphones and tablets are becoming an increasingly integral part of many people's daily lives. Whereas it's pretty commonplace to sit down somewhere with your laptop plugged in while you work, modern tablets and smartphones allow us to do our computing and gaming on-the-go. Even with the advances in battery technology and power-saving LED displays, it's tough for the average user to make it through a full day on their mobile device without running out of juice.

Enter devices like this -at 5000mAh, it's got enough power to completely charge most smartphones 2-3 times. Even running 4G and watching streaming videos on your phone, you can comfortably be away from the charger for a couple days without having to worry. It'll also give you about a 75% boost on your tablet battery (iPad 2 battery is just shy of 7000 mAh).

This device is fairly portable -a little bulkier than a kit-kat bar -and should fit easily into your purse or backpack... I wouldn't really want to carry it in my pocket, but I guess it'd fit fair easily into a zippered jacket pocket or something. Once you add in the necessary cable, though, it can start getting sorta bulky.

Speaking of bulk, one thing that sorta bugged me about this device was the proprietary charging cable. So many devices nowadays are mini-USB. It's nice having a standard plug. Why, then, do you have to use some weird DC adapter to charge this portable battery? It already comes with a mini-USB cable for use with smartphones and such -just let it charge with that! Since this device must be charged using the proprietary USB-to-DC plug, if you happen to lose it, you're done. Sorta sucks. For this reason (and for the added portability) I'd prefer to stick with a smaller charger like the Belkin F8M158tt Power Pack 1000. Sure, it doesn't have quite the same capacity, but how often are you really going to be needing several days' worth of portable charge on your smartphone in between opportunities to plug it into a wall outlet or USB port?

Anyway, this is a decent device. It comes with a whole range of adapters that allow you to plug it into your smartphone, normal phone iPad / iPod, etc. It's got great capacity but suffers from being a bit bulkier than lower-capacity battery units and a proprietary charge cable. While this could be a good workhorse for iPad users, I'm thinking of these types of devices as being primarily used to extend the life of smartphones for folks on-the-go. As such, this is just a little too bulky to be practical for my daily use. I'd give it a higher rating but the DC charge cable bugs me.

You can read all the specific details pertaining to this device in all the other reviews. I just wanted to correct the misconception that it will only charge via a computer USB port. This is not true. I used my HP Touchpad charger and it worked perfectly. This battery pack requires a charger capable of 1.3 amps. The iPhone charger only is .5amps (I believe). Any aftermarket charger that provides a higher current should work fine.

Only reason I am not making this a 5 star item is for the slight bulkiness of the pack. At the discounted price it can not be beat.

My first review of this product would have been an enthusiastic 5 star recommendation; however, having had it for a few months I have found a massive drawback a faulty USB cable. I contacted the company to see if they would send me a new one, and indeed they would if I paid 10 dollars for the cable and 9.95 in shipping. Needless to say I was not amendable to doing that.

When I originally received this item, I didn't use it right off as I never found that I was able to drain my Samsung Infuse cell phone or IPod touch 4th gen completely of batteries and find myself no where near a charger. I kept it in my purse just in case, and I did find myself needing it when I traveled extensively in November for both business and pleasure. First I found myself taking many pictures, and sending those pictures to Facebook, draining my cell of battery when I visited Walt Disney World. I was very lucky to have had this to charge my cell while we took a break for lunch or dinner. Secondly, when I traveled to Denver on business from Boston, I found I had forgotten to charge my IPod before I left. Having this in my purse was a Godsend for the 5 hour flight! After these experiences I became diligent about keeping the external battery pack charged, just in case.

Unfortunately, the USB cable (and its' attachments to charge my cell and Ipod) went dead in January as I was on the road for business again. I was unimpressed by the lack of customer service and how long it took them to get back to me only to tell me that I would have to shell out 20 dollars for a replacement cable. My work around for this is inconvenient, but it works I carry an IPod and USB mini cable with the battery to be able to use it to charge when needed. This is unwieldy, but again it works. The battery still works fabulously, so I will rate this at 3 stars for that, but be aware of the 0 star customer service and usb cable.

This is a rechargeable battery that you charge up using your computer's USB port. Once it is charged, then you can plug any number of electronic devices into this battery, using the USB port in the battery, to run or charge your device from it. I've used this to charge up my 2nd generation iTouch iPod(r), my iPad2(r), and my Blackberry(r) Tour phone. (Obviously not all at the same time; just one at a time, grin).

When you charge this from your computer, it has 3 blue lights that will light up as it becomes fully charged (1 blue light means it's about 1/3 charged up, 2 lights is 2/3rds). It comes with all the cables to charge the battery from your USB port, and to then charge or run your devices. It does not come with a AC adapter to charge your battery from a wall plug, and it does not come with a 12 volt adapter to charge the battery from your car's 12 volt accessory port (cigarette lighter). To charge/run your device, select the right cable with the right connector for your device, plug it into your device and into the battery, and then there is a button on the batter to push to turn the charging on. While you are running/charging off the battery, the blue lights will tell you about how much battery you have left: 3 lights, full; 2 lights, 2/3rds; 1 light, 1/3rd. I don't have a good way to tell you how many hours this battery will run before you needs to recharge it again, but my experience has been really good. It's not like I have to charge it up each day. I don't use it more than about once a week in an emergency when one of my devices needs a charge. High recommended! The battery is small enough to fit in most pockets, less than 3 inches x 4 inches and about 3/4 inches thick.

I bought this product reading some of the good reviews and for the price it should have worked too. The first charge went well although it ran out of power just after charging my smartphone only once. That was not a good sign. The next time I tried to charge my cellphone with it, it kept switching off and would need to be turned ON multiple times manually. I give it two stars because of its looks and light-weight design. May be it was my bad luck but i returned it asap.

DLO 009-3030 Transpod In-Car Cradle/FM Transmitter, White ( 009-3030 )

DLO 009-3030 Transpod In-Car Cradle/FM Transmitter, White
  • Play, charge and cradle your iPod with one simple, secure device
  • Transmits iPod's music to your existing radio already in your car (using FM channels 88.1 to 107.9)
  • 4 assignable presets let you jump to commonly used frequencies
  • Plugs into any available auto power outlet
  • Compatibility: iPod nano (1G and 2G), iPod mini, 4G iPod with click wheel, iPod Color, iPod Video

I've had an iPod for quite a while, but no way to listen to the music in my car. I have an older factory-installed CD player, so cassette adapters were out, and the unit doesn't have a line-in. I heard terrible things about portable FM transmitters from pretty much everyone I spoke with, but with a couple of long road trips planned I decided to bite the bullet and try the Transpod. I am very pleasantly surprised.

The unit combines a car cradle, a charger, and an FM transmitter in one. There's a short arm that plugs into the car's lighter port, an optional extension arm, and a cradle for the iPod with tuner buttons for the transmitter (along with a backlit LCD nice touch) on the face.

The FM performance is very good. I have tried the Transpod in both rural and urban areas and the signal comes through my radio clean and clear. The unit has four presets, but except for a longer trip to another city I have not needed to change stations at all so far.

The Transpod has a line out port on the side, so if I ever upgrade my stereo or purchase a new car I can use that option without having to buy a new cradle and charger. The unit plays music through the data port (it came with an adapter for the iPod mini, and a foam backing for the new, slimmer models no idea if it fits the Nano) so volume is controlled through the car stereo only.

A couple of minor complaints. On the first Transpod I bought, one of the tuner buttons broke. I was able to exchange it with the retailer. No problems with the replacement. Also, a hard bump can jar the charger loose in the lighter port on my car, and sometimes requires a jiggle to reset it. When it loses power it shuts off completely and the sudden burst of static is jarring.

Still, I'm very satisfied with the Transpod.

Buy DLO 009-3030 Transpod In-Car Cradle/FM Transmitter, White ( 009-3030 ) Now

I have two FM transmitters: a Belkin Tunecast that I purchased when I first purchased my iPod and a DLO TransPod. There are four key differences to me:

my Belkin only lets me select from four pre-set FM stations whereas with the TransPod I can select across the entire FM spectrum (winner: TransPod, for it's flexibility in FM markets where the four stations the Belkin offers might already have strong transmissions)

the TransPod is car powered whereas the Belkin is AAA battery powered (winner: TransPod, because not only does the DC power provided by the car seem to provide a greater signal, but also it keeps the iPod charged)

the TransPod is a very solid unit whereas the Belkin is smaller and connects via a cable (winner: TransPod, because the unit keeps everything together whereas the Belkin, with its cable, is clumsy)

the TransPod connects to the iPod dock connector while the Belkin uses the headphone jack (winner: TransPod, for several reasons: for one, the dock is a superior connection and you don't need to control the volume of your transmission on the iPod when connected this way; it also puts less stress/wear on the headphone jack)

I read a lot of reviews on Amazon, the Apple Store, and other sites before going with the TransPod. I didn't want to get another device like my Belkin. The bottom line is that if you have to connect to a car stereo via a non-cable/direct means, you need strong signal and I needed some good reviews to assure me I was making the right decision.

(...)the TransPod is an awesome deal. I couldn't be more pleased with the it. With the first use, it was significantly better than my Belkin and I can't praise it enough.

I bought this item for my wife and it worked wonderfully for a couple of months and then just stopped working completely. After going back and forth with DLO customer service about the problem, I was told that the arm between the Transpod and the cigarette lighter "requires maintenance and needs to be replaced about every 6 months" and "is not defective, but does require maintenance".

If they know a part is going to fail every 6 months, that is a design flaw not something that requires maintenance. Also, if they know that the part will "require maintenance" every 6 months, why is that not disclosed on the packaging? I feel I was deceived into buying a defective product, and will never buy anything from DLO again.

Want DLO 009-3030 Transpod In-Car Cradle/FM Transmitter, White ( 009-3030 ) Discount?

[This review is of the Silver Transpod FM, but they are functionally the same] I have tried cheaper FM transmitters in the past and they have been terrible, so I really didn't expect this one to be much better. Luckily, I was completely wrong. Sound quality is great, and I can hear almost no static at all while listening to my music through the Transpod.

Using the included extension, you can position your iPod into just about any position to avoid the controls of your car and still make it accessible. I did not have to use the extension in my car, but I did try it out to make sure it works.

The package includes an insert to hold an iPod mini and iPod Nano, however the insert did not work for me because I have a case on my Nano. That being said, I leave my Nano in it's clear plastic case anyway and I don't see a need for the insert. The Nano seems to be completely secure to me, and I haven't had any problems with it coming loose.

I drive a vehicle at work, and this accessory will make my iPod Nano worth every penny I spent. I highly recommend this item for anyone with an iPod who spends some time in a vehicle.

This product worked well that is it got the music from my ipod into my car's stereo. The unit, however, didn't fit my car well. I had to use both the cigarette lighter arm and the extension arm to get it to fit. Once I put my ipod into the cradle it became quite top heavy. Every time I would go around a corner it would tilt over. I would find myself doing the mom arm protection move for my ipod. Not good. I would only recommend this product if it fits your car using the single arm that fits in the cigarette lighter.

Fosmon® Premium Quality USB Cradle Desktop Charger Pod for Sprint HTC Hero CDMA with Extra Battery

Fosmon® Premium Quality USB Cradle Desktop Charger Pod for Sprint HTC Hero CDMA with Extra Battery Charging SlotI really like this unit as my Hero is an electricity junkie. The ability to keep a battery on stand-by in the charger has been really useful. Makita BTW450 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench Kit

Makita BTW450 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench KitI am currently in Afghanistan, at a FOB repairing battle damaged MRAPs. I just put this baby to the test and the results were exactily what I expected. I used it to fit the front engine compartment to the removed grill assembly. It actually pulled the armor to the grill, with no problem. Another thing that surprised me was the smoothness of the whole process and how quiet it was. Very nice, Thank Amazon for shipping to APOs and FPOs. Great all around experience. 2 weeks from beginning to end.

I use it on a daily basis and wouldn't use anything else. Nothing else compares, and I've tried snapon, dewalt, and a few other brands.

Buy Makita BTW450 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench Kit Now

Pros: (1) Got some power, (2) 18 volts lithium ion powered

Cons: (1) Not variable speed, (2) a bit heavy, (3) still relatively big compared to the competition

Overall, it looks to me like this impact wrench might be outdated compared with what's out there today. Most of today's cordless impacts are variable speed. You have MUCH better control with variable speed, especially when you are trying to put nuts back on. With this Makita wrench, soon as you hit the trigger, it goes full speed.

The wrench seems somewhat powerful, but I found a couple of (maybe frozen?) lugnuts this guy could not take off. It was on a '03 Corolla (I think using 21 mm nuts), which is not even close to a tank. I don't know if the car's lugnuts were put on by impact guns before at a shop, but I had no problems with any of the other lugnuts on that car.

My other gripe about this wrench is the size and weight. I did some specs comparisons of the latest cordless impacts out there today (i.e. Milwaukee 2663-22, IR W360P, and Craftsman c3 19.2 cordless impact wrench) and the Makita is the longest as well as heaviest of the bunch. When you read the Makita product description, they mention how the tool is compact and light. I'm guessing it's when comparing it to electric impact wrenches at the time the tool came out. Those electric impacts are much heavier and bigger. But now today's latest cordless impacts are more compact and lighter than this Makita. Check out the specs for the 3 other wrenches I had mentioned and see for yourself.

I actually got the Craftsman c3 19.2 impact wrench with the lithium ion batteries to try out and honestly, I like it much better than the Makita. It has variable speed, is smaller, lighter, much cheaper, and feels just as powerful as the Makita even though it only has a rating of 200 ft lbs of torque. I did some tests like tightening a lugnut to 150 ft lbs and trying both the Makita and Craftsman on it. Both wrenches zipped off the nut very easily. When removing a standard 80 ft lb torqued nut on my Honda Civic, it really seemed like the Craftsman zipped them off easier compared to the Makita. I don't know if they overstated the torque on the Makita or understated it on the Craftsman, but both wrenches seem just as powerful, however the Craftsman felt a bit stronger. Though that is just going by my observation and feeling, so there is no scientific facts or hard numbers to prove it. I don't know if this is because the Craftsman has a faster IPM (impacts per minute) compared with the Makita. Anyway, since I only need an impact gun for my cars at home (I'm never going to working on big machinery), the Craftsman seems plenty powerful enough for me.

I will say the Makita LXT series has good batteries and chargers so if you already have an investment in them, maybe you have no choice but to go with this tool if you need something with more torque. I ended up returning the tool because of the cons, but I'm hoping Makita is working on some next generation high torque cordless impact that will address all the shortfalls I mentioned. As of now, I am sticking with the Craftsman I bought.

I bought this to replace my Dewalt heavy duty impact wrench 18v XRP set. I got sick and tired of everytime I needed it the batteries were dead. Right from the start I have been extremely impressed with this tool, the power is great, I have been working on vehicles and farm equipment for more then 40 years I used this to remove the 2 1/2" blade holding nuts from a large bush hog rusted and pacted with debris, it is hard to believe how fast and efficient this tool is. It is stronger then my previous air impact wrenches and much handier out in the field. Too bad I cannot give it more then 5 stars because it deserves it. With the 18v makita lithium ion batteries it is always ready to go even months after the last time it was charged.

Samsung SPH-M320 Retractable Cell Phone Car Charger

Samsung SPH-M320 Retractable Cell Phone Car ChargerThis is one of those you get what you pay for things. This did not last more than a month before it just died. I would not say it got a whole lot of use in that month either. I should have contacted the company, but did not bother because I did not pay much for it at all. I can't say whether or not they would have done anything, but I would not purchase this product again. My husband only used it a few times to charge his phone on his way to and from work which is only about 10 miles away. It did put on a surprisingly high amount of charge in that little time and the retractable feature was nice, but it just did not last long enough for me to give it more than one star.

Item ordered was received in a timely manner. Ordered for myself, gave to son for Christmas. With all the "stuff" he already plugs in, this is a wonderful way to get a little neatness. Unit fits snugly into phone and is easier to store when not in use as the cord is completely retractable. In a small pickup, it doesn't take long to have "spaghetti strings" for accessories, and this certainly is a convenient addition.

Parrot MINIKIT Smart Bluetooth Hands-Free Kit with Holder for Smartphone

Parrot MINIKIT Smart Bluetooth Hands-Free Kit with Holder for SmartphoneFrom start to finish, I completed set-up within 45 minutes. It was not the easiest system to use, but if you're slightly technologically minded or stubborn, you'll be able to do it without too much problem. Setting up so it recognized my contacts via voice command was the longest part of the process. Overall, it's great in the car (voice recognition works well, the caller can hear well, decent call projection); it's helpful for using the phone navigation (mounted on dash instead of in my hand or precariously placed on dashboard), and it projects the voice directions; and it charges your phone while driving, so you don't have to worry about running out of battery on long calls or for a long navigational drive.

I tested with two HTC Touch phones and an iPhone. All worked equally well with the exception of an inability to automatically export contacts from the older HTC Touch.

You'll want to keep their main website handy in order to address questions. The manual is all but useless. In fact, I found that using the page and clicking on your phone will give you hints in how to correctly set it up if you are having difficulty.

Summary:

Pros:

* Relatively fast charge (1.5 hours from my computer USB port, while I was playing with the system).

* Adhered to my windshield better than any of the GPS tools

* If your phone automatically exports contacts, the set-up is super easy (iPhone). See "cons" if your phone does not.

* Bluetooth works well callers were able to hear me.

* Background noise reduction works pretty well. You can tell that you're in the car, but it doesn't have the same level of road noise that my Motorola in-ear bluetooth does, or the wired connection.

* Voice recognition was good. It correctly dialed 93% of the the numbers I tested. The voice that repeats who the phone is calling is a little odd, though very mechanised.

* You can pair up to 10 phones with this system. I tested 3 with no problem.

* Includes regular and mini-USB connectors.

* If worried about extensive exposure to radiation, keeps the phone and bluetooth away from your head.

* Includes a car charger with a USB connection useful for more devices than just this one!

Cons:

* The enclosed manual really stinks. It basically only covers set-up, but not the functionality. You have to want to play with with the system to see all the bells and whistles. That also means that you can't say, "How do I do 'x'?" and look it up. They attribute it to being "green" and send you online, but that manual isn't much better. It also requires being somewhere you can access the internet in order to properly set it up (e.g. if you purchase from a b&m store, and try to set it up in your car, good luck!)

* They refer you to the website to see if your smart phone is compatible. However, there is no "compatible" option from their menu I was unable to locate one from their main page or using the smart function. I needed to Google "parrot phone compatibility" to get the page:

* Occasionally, it does dial incorrectly using the voice function. However, it is easy and fast to cancel *if* you are paying attention to the number that is being dialed.

* If your phone is older and not set up to automatically sync contacts, you may need to export them one at a time. I had to do that with an older HTC phone I tested.

* It allows you to scroll through your phonebook in alphabetical order, saying the name of the contact in case you're not sure how you named them.

* Comes with a detachable microphone and a clip that you can pin to the visor for better sound.

* Really needs a case to keep it all together. The online manual suggests that if the swivel that holds the phone feels loose to use the attached Allen wrench to tighten it. It's a small wrench and could easily be lost. While we have many size Allen wrenches in our house (thanks Ikea!), I've never used one that has such a small diameter and wouldn't have anything that would replace it.

Best for those:

* driving cars without bluetooth ability allows hands-free calling.

* who want to use their GPS functions without having to hold the phone in their hand and keep their phone charged

I received the Parrot Minikit for free via the Vine program. It's a device I would not have purchased on my own, but now that I've used it, I love it and think it's brilliant. I still knock it down a star for the unhelpful manual and difficulty in navigating their main site. I'll certainly be continuing to use this nifty device and am likely to purchase one for my parents to use.

I'm still looking for the right solution for me, having recently moved to a state with a hands-free law. I don't think this will ultimately be the one for me, though. The speaker is good, even if it could have been a bit louder for me. I drive an SUV, and the sound level in the cockpit isn't as low as in most sedans.

There is no manual other than a quick-start guide, which isn't nearly clear enough in my opinion. It reminds me of a cross between Ikea instructions and the set-up brochure you get with most computer games. The detachable microphone is a great idea, but it was confusing for me personally. The guide just shows a picture of drawing of the microphone already several inches from the base and attached by a wire. It took me several minutes of searching the box to realize that no microphone was with all the cables they included. I then took several more minutes to realize that the microphone is attached to the base already by a retractable wire. You have to pull the mic (which is on the side of the base across from the power connections) and pull it to unwind the cable.

For me, the biggest drawback is partly my own fault, though. I'm rough on phones, so I bought the OtterBox Defender Case iPhone 4 (Blue/Black, Fits AT&T iPhone 4). Unfortunately, that adds a good deal to the dimensions of my phone. The clip they use to adjust the fit for phones is a great idea, but it isn't quite expandable enough. to get my phone in, it's an extremely tight fit, and I have to drag it hard against the bottom layer of padding to do so. This foam padding isn't going to hold up to that kind of abuse for long, I'm afraid.

So, If you're tech savvy, have a phone smaller than the Otterbox Defender, and drive a quieter car than an SUV, this should be a great solution. For me, I'll keep looking.

It looks like a good idea, if you don't like headsets and/or can't pony up for one of Parrot's completely integrated systems. The kit comes with almost everything you need, the missing part based on which phone you have. My Sprint Samsung Epic was good to go, but iPhone owners and any others with a phone that doesn't use a standard mini/micro USB connector will have to bring their own charging cable. The mount is sturdy and allows the cradle to detach so you can store it away when not in use. The cradle itself holds my phone nice and tightly, with no worries of it falling out and hitting the floor while driving. The mic on a string design leaves something to be desired, and could potentially be an easy point of failure, (mount loses its grip and falls, retractor breaks, object gets snagged on the cable, etc).

It's advertised as working with any smartphone, but the manual clearly states that if it doesn't work with your phone that you should check the compatibility list. On my phone though everything went fine, Pairing it with my phone and syncing the contacts was no problem. Using the voice commands to make calls was hit and miss, requiring some retraining of the Minikit to get it to work more consistently. The little green and red LED lights that denote which button is which don't stay on while the unit is powered on, which can make hitting the right button and knowing if it is on or off confusing. I found myself just leaving it plugged in and on all the time, not relying on the battery power whatsoever.

Finding a spot in my minivan to install the Minikit that was within reach, did not break the law, and was convenient for GPS use took a little time, but I eventually found one. The mic was installed along the top of the instrument cluster, directly in front of the driver's seat. According to the User's Guide, this was the ideal area. During road trials, I found it a bit difficult to hear the Minikit at highway speeds (windows rolled up, no music, no fan blowing), but around town it was just fine. As an alternate, I may try plugging my phone's audio into the car stereo and see how that goes. Results from the people I was calling were hit and miss, some saying that they could hear me fine, which others I had to shout at.

When it's all said and done, I am not sure the Parrot Minikit Smart was the best option, compared with Parrot's integrated products that can be had in the same price range (CK3100, CK3000, and CK3200). It does fulfill a need though, and works well enough. Using with my phone for charging and navigation is a sure plus, and would be more so if it were louder. I'd just prefer the cleaner look of the integrated parts and their ability to tap directly into my van's sound system.

I LOVE THIS MACHINE. The sound quality is pure and clear. This is the ONLY device I have ever used that doesn't bother my callers. (Didn't that sound romantic and old fashioned? It's also 90% untrue, as I make most of my phone calls while I am in the car.) I have some devices that some of my more picky friends (Reg!) don't like and others that no one likes. Since my neck injury a couple of years ago, I find it almost impossible to use a cell phone holding it next to my ear. I can't capture it in my shoulder very well either. It kind of leaves me in an awkward position.

Another benefit of this machine in this time of not including anything extra in packages, (I once received an iPod without any kind of power cord), is that it comes with a bunch of cords for every possible use. It was like finding the jackpot of connections. I can charge this with devices I don't even own!

The problem? I find that I don't carry it anywhere. It's too heavy. It's like putting a brick in your purse.

On the other hand, you always know if you remembered your phone and speaker phone or not. And it turns a purse into a great weapon.

I was pretty excited to finally get bluetooth in my car. The unit feels pretty solid and has a quality feel to it.

The included instruction manual is a complete joke. It barely covers basic functionality of the unit, but nothing in any great detail. Which button do I hit? What does the red and green mean? How do I connect? None of these questions were answered with any detail in the manual. I eventually had to google a manual in more detail to learn how to use this kit. And I'm already a tech savvy person can't imagine how the average user will figure this out!

Once I got my phone synced (that took more time looking on their website to see if my phone was compatible), it worked well for the most part. I still accidentally call and hang up on people, mainly because there's only one main button that controls everything. If you press a long while, it does one thing if you press briefly, it does something else. Frustrating to use, especially while driving!

The sound quality was mediocre. At low speeds, I could hear the caller pretty well. On the highway, however, at max volumes I was still constantly saying "what'd you say?". It just doesn't get very loud, so if you do a lot of highway driving, stay away from this unit.

Callers said my voice sounded good, however, and had no complaints about the sound quality. It is SO nice not to have to fumble with a phone while driving!

Instapark® NEW All Black 30W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel With a 12V solar charge controller

Instapark® NEW All Black 30W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel With a 12V solar charge controllerPicked this up for pop-up camper and a week of dry camping in 90 degree heat at the beach. Our goal was to run two fans 8-10 hours/night and keep two iPhones charged for 5 nights, 4 days without any power source.

Product arrived as described. Controller appears to be very cheaply made, wires seem like they are undersized, and the controller unit was broken on delivery (transistor bouncing around in the box). I soldered the transistor back onto the board (night before departure, no time for a return) and it appeared to work. In full sun and aligned, the panel produced about 17.6 volts and 1.6 amps.

Started off with a new Group 27 Marine/RV deep cycle battery, fully charged. We had two days of sun and two of clouds (the last two). I set the panel on a chair next to our camper at about 45 degrees each day and did my best to keep it aligned with the sun, though most of the charging time it was not perfectly aligned. The last two days, in particular, it was very cloudy and not well aligned. I unhooked the battery from the camper completely each day so the controller was connected only to the battery completely unhooking and storing the panel/controller at night.

Result: 5 full nights of two fans running 8-10 hours (02 12 volt, 700mA fans), 2 iphones charging each night. By my imperfect math, the battery might have delivered 3 days of fans without any charging before being dead. So I take this to mean that the panel did the job.

PROS panel works as described, charging controller appears to have done what it was intended to. For basic uses such as the one above, the panel could keep you running for a long time (assuming it was really working at capacity). Relatively small and easy to store. I can't speak to longevity of either daily charging performance or the panel over time.

CONS charger is about as cheap as they come mine was broken. Panel has very sharp edges and limited mounting options. Cable turns out to be pretty short. Charger offers no information about power being generated or battery status.

I bought this for my Aliner camper to keep the battery up. Seeing my camper is an aframe it's pretty easy to just lay it out over a bubble to collect the suns rays, although I think we may build a mount so we can redirect it in any direction rather than just two. Initially I set it up in my driveway in full south eastern sun and the battery under load recovered very fast. I also ran the battery low on purpose (less than 12v) and it recovered quickly to 13.6v. I noticed it was also charging on overcast days and even though I checked the voltage with a meter I can't remember how much, but it did the job. We also changed over our light bulbs inside the camper to leds and that has helped with the draw. We do a lot of dry camping. We just came back from our first dry trip with the panel, and a week of charging cell phones and psps, running lights, water pump and other little things the battery is at a full charge and the panel got very little direct sun on a wooded site. So this panel seems to fit our needs fine. We are not running heat yet and we aren't using a ton of power either. Most people go bigger but I didn't want to have to pack up a huge panel or worry about where to store it and the extra weight. This panel is small and very easy to deal with. We picked up a 2 pin plug from Radio Shack so we could disconnect from the battery without having to access it. I run the cord through the electrical cord port. It was packaged well and everything was there. I am very happy with this panel and recommend it to anyone that would like to keep up a 12v battery under light use. I'm also pretty pleased I can leave it set up at home and not have to plug into the house. I'll try to add some pictures soon. (PS. I don't really think the controller is needed for such a small panel, but it is nice to see the led lights letting you know if it's charging or sending power).

I purchased this solar panel for charging a deep-cycle golf-cart battery that we use to charge cell phones, etc. at a no-electricity vacation site. It's worked just fine for the past couple of weeks. In bright sun I've measured it delivering 25 watts to a nearly fully charged battery.

The panel itself seems well made. The solar array is mounted in an aluminum frame with a good silicone seal. The frame has a pair of holes at each end, but as someone else noted, these holes are in a lip of the aluminum frame so they're somewhat tedious to work with. Drilling holes in the side of the frame is an option, but there are two channels in the extruded aluminum of the side that make using such holes difficult. So, mounting a handle on it for carrying took some careful planning. The panel delivers the most power when facing directly at the sun, but being 5 or 10 degrees off makes almost no difference. It charges somewhat on bright cloudy days, but perhaps only 20% of what you get from full sun.

Note: as delivered, this panel is not for novices:

the wires from the panel were reversed from how they should have been; the red wire with the positive label was actually the negative wire, and vice-versa for the black wire with the negative label

you should have a basic understanding of electrical circuits, and you should have a voltmeter and you should use it to check polarity before connecting things

the regulator box is very very cheaply made, with dainty alligator clips for the battery and tiny little philips screws for making connections

the English instructions for the regulator is of clarity not much :-)

the diagram for the regulator showed the solar panel connections reversed from what they should have been

that second mistake means, ironically, that if I had blindly followed the diagram, the reversal on the diagram would have countered the reversed wires from the panel and I would have been OK

Despite those issues, I'm very happy with the panel for my rustic usage. I've made a simple, portable stand for it, and a 40' cable. It keeps a deep-cycle battery in the cabin charged up. That battery is used by 12 people to charge cell/smart phones, a Kindle, and an iPad.

Consider getting the panel without the regulator Instapark® 30W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel and getting a high-quality regulator SunGuard SG-4 4.5 amp 12 volt Solar Charge Controller Regulator by Morningstar.

The panel seems to work fine I have no means of measuring its effectiveness other than that it keeps the battery for my gate charged. It is a little challenging to mount. It does not include a mount, and the back of the panel only has four small holes in the "frame". There is not much clearance between the frame and the panel for fasteners.

Want Instapark® NEW All Black 30W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel With a 12V solar charge controller Discount?

I was pleasantly surprised by this rig. As a complete newbie to solar, I expected the "solar charge controller" to deliver a regulated 12V whenever there was sufficient light; I was planning to hack up an unused UPS to store and deliver power. However, the controller has a direct battery hookup, with a pair of clip leads included. All you need is a small Phillips screwdriver to attach the solar panel and whatever 12V devices you want to use with it. I stuck the panel in a south-facing window... even I know that's not an optimum position, but for my needs it keeps a 12Ah battery topped up. I attached a cigarette lighter socket (aka auxiliary power) and a USB car charger, and use it to charge my Kindle, phone, and other mobile devices. It'll charge a full-size tablet, maybe a netbook, but not a full-sized laptop. I'm planning to put the battery and controller in a box so I can move it around for camping or other portable use.

BTW: always use a sealed lead-acid (SLA) battery for these systems unless you're always using it outside or have good ventilation. Car batteries and deep-discharge batteries vent hydrogen gas, which can explode under the wrong conditions.

What kept it from getting five stars: I'd like to have seen a little more care given to newbies. The 12-foot power cable exiting the solar panel ends in two bare, tinned wires. Perfect for attaching to the controller, but even in a north-facing garage in the evening, it produced enough power to make a pretty impressive spark when the wires hit the aluminum frame. Either cover the wires, or the panel itself (a flannel shirt is perfect), before messing with the panel itself. It would have been nice to include some suggestions for making a bracket to permanently mount the panel. (The aluminum frame comes with four holes pre-drilled in back; others could be drilled on the side but I'd like to know it was OK to do that.) You should trim all bare wires to 1/8" (3.5mm) before attaching them to the controller, to prevent shorts.

This makes a great little system to get your feet wet in solar power systems, and has enough capacity to do useful things. I'm already thinking about a larger system to run all my electronic gear though!
