Motorola TX500 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone - Black - Retail Packaging

Motorola TX500 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone - Black - Retail PackagingIn a matter of moments, I paired this with a HTC DROID INCREDIBLE Android Phone (Verizon Wireless). After making a few calls from the parked position, i took my first road trip. With the windows up, I could easily carry on a conversation at highway speeds.

Next up, I paired an Apple iPhone 4 Black Smartphone 32GB (AT&T).

The speaker phone did much better than the built-in hands-free on both phones. My callers reported that my voice quality was clear, free of echoes and not much background noise. On my end, the voices came through clear and loud. Most voice commands were received correctly by both phones. I had somebody call me from the car and their voice quality was very good and understandable.

This speaker phone can pair with up to 6 devices and use 2 at the same time. In theory, you can take calls from 2 cell phones at the same time. I never tried this but I'll update the review if I ever do.

Compared to a Bluetooth headset, this is in a different league. With 45 hours of talk time and 6 months of stand-by, I haven't turned mine off. I've only recharged it once this month more out of habit than necessity.

The voice prompts make this device very intuitive. I'm impressed with the overall quality and simplicity of this speaker phone.

In my state, NJ, this would qualify as a hands-free device and would be legal to make and receive calls on while driving. IMHO

The Motorola TX500 is my second bluetooth hands free device from Motorola. Since I really liked the Motorola Roadster Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone (Retail Packaging), I would like to compare the TX500 with it. Basically the Motorola TX500 is a simplified version of the Roadster. All the bells and whistles that the Roadster had were removed. The TX500 focuses only on the basic features. Taking calls and making calls. The voice guide (or voice prompts) feature that the Motorola bluetooth hands free devices commonly has works very well and thanks to this, pairing of the phones to the device could not be simpler. You can turn off the voice guide by pressing and holding the volume button until you hear saying 'voice intructions off', if you do not like it. I connected two phones to the TX500 and had no problem to pair those (a Verizon Fascinate and a Verizon basic feature Samsung phone).

The best parts of the TX500 are good voice quality and strong battery life. The call quality was very good and the TX500 lasted 2 weeks without any problem. For your information, I did not make many calls while I am driving, though. I charged my Roadster once a week, so the TX500 lasted twice much with a single charge.

The things that I do not like of the TX500 are that all the features that I loved so much from the Roadster were gone. The TX500 does not deliver the music from your phone. And the TX500 is not capable of working as an FM transmitter that I liked the most from the Roadster. The Roadster sends every music and sound from your phone to the FM radio in your car flawlessly and I have been so happy with this feature since my car does not have any auxillary input for the audio. And the TX500 cannot sense the vibration of your car. What this means is that you should manually turn on the TX500 every time you hop on your car. The Roadster automatically detects the motion of your car and turns itself on whenever you get on the car. This was one of the best feature I have ever seen from any bluetooth device for a vehicle.

Therefore, if you need a bluetooth hands free device with solid basic features such as good voice quality and long battery life, the TX500 is for you. However, if you need a motion-sensing bluetooth device with an FM transmitter built in, go for the Motorola Roadster.

Pairing this with my iPhone 3GS couldn't have been easier. The slightly mechanical female voice could talk even a five year old through the very simple pairing process. Calling on the device is simple as all get out and in my car, which is not a jeep or convertible, I have no problem understanding and being understood by the party I'm talking too.

I do have an earpiece that I used to use, but my significant other is often with me when I'm driving and is always, always, interrupting, wanting to be part of the conversation, now it's like the other party is in the car with us. Five big stars from me for Motorola.

This little device does everything it claims. I use an iPhone 4 and have been wanting a hands-free solution while driving my older 1999 Windstar van without spending $$$ to install a system. I've tried BlueTooth ear pieces and headsets before, but sound quality has been horrendous as is battery life. I saw this Motorola and hoped it would work, and and happy to report that you need to buy one of these ASAP. The sound quality is VERY good for a small device, I have no trouble hearing it at all with the A/C cranked (and believe me, we do a lot of that in Phoenix, already had a 100 degree day in March). But even more of a surprise, the sound quality to the person you are talking to is better than I had hoped. My wife is picky about that, because in the past with other BT devices we've dealt with tinny sound, echo, white noise, you name it. But she says this sounds VERY good and I trust that opinion. I called my work voicemail and left a message to hear what it sounded like, and was equally happy. Understand that a speakerphone sounds like a speakerphone, but there are some that sound good for what they are, and Motorola got it right with this device.

Two other big plusses: one is the huge amount of talk time, which I hope lasts a while as batteries do wear down. I'll post back later about that. But the other neat feature is the voice instructions when turning it on: it tells you exactly when to hit the button and connect and how much battery life you have left, same way a GPS device talks to you. Pairing this device is a breeze, and every time I turn it on it instantly connects. Nice!

I have found my hands-free solution, and it will work in any car I drive, even rentals when travelling on business. It'll pair with more than one phone so several family members can use it in the family car. I think it's a no-brainer to say "highly recommended"!

***UPDATE: May 11, 2011***

I've been using this thing every day and it has been absolutely flawless. It pairs almost instantly, and the sound quality continues to marvel, especially to the person on the other end. All I have to do is turn on Bluetooth on my iPhone 4 when I hop in the van (I don't leave BT on 24/7, just wastes battery life), and then I turn on this X500 and in seconds the female voice says connected and reports the battery life (Low, Medium, or High). I've charged it ONCE the day I reviewed it and it's still going, battery level "High". Great device.

I really love this device! It is super easy to set up and works perfectly. The speaker works well, calls are audible and I have received favorable feedback from people spoken to from the Motorola TX500.

You can use the Motorola TX500 straight out of the box since it is delivered at medium battery level. When you turn it on for the first time, you are directed to go to the bluetooth setting on your phone. It works with any bluetooth enabled cell phone. A pin number is provided, if needed. A female voice walks you through the connection process and although the voice is a little mechanical, it's easy to understand and speaks English only. I paired it with an iPhone4 (all you have to do is turn bluetooth on and the iPhone and Motorola TX500 make the connections for you) and Blackberry Bold without issue. There is an audible battery status given and a light on the side provides constant battery usage with red meaning low, purple/medium and blue/high.

It clips securely onto your visor and once fully charged, you can remove the cord for a sleeker look. There are four large buttons on the front, mute button, volume down, volume up and the call button. The call button answers calls, places calls (you will be prompted once pressed calls are voice activated), places calls on hold to answer another incoming call, and ends calls. Also, it allows you to take calls from 2 cell phones at the same time and most importantly, it can store up to 6 cell phone connections. This is a great feature for families. It refers to the phones by number, in the order paired to this device.

I spend a lot of time running errands and I love being able to use my cell phone while driving with minimum effort and without worry. I just need to remember to turn the bluetooth off when I'm home since Motorola TX500's range can interfere with calls inside the home. Two clicks and problem solved. I really love how customer service is provided by telephone (1-800-331-6456) and through their website. Too many companies have stopped provided telephone support and I value those who still offer this option since sometimes, speaking to a live person is the best option.

C2G / Cables to Go AC and DC to USB Travel Charger Bundle

C2G / Cables to Go AC and DC to USB Travel Charger Bundle
  • Perfect for recharging your cell phone or PDA while driving your vehicle
  • Works with any standard cigarette plug-in
  • Auto adjusts to voltage and frequencies worldwide
  • LED indicates proper charging
  • Certifications: UL, FCC, CE

These chargers work but there is no feedback. They were bought to charge a Garmin GPS (which didn't come with an AC wall charger). It is less than 1/2 the cost of a 12VDC adapter from Garmin.

When the GPS is connected to this charger it "thinks" it is connected to a PC and the display on the PC is frozen because there is no communication between the two-you have to guess about the level of charge obtained. To do this disconnect and shut down the GPS. Turn it on again to observe the level of charge! This does NOT happen when plugged into a 12VDC source (such as in your car or a 12VDC power supply).

I would rate it higher if I bought it for some other purpose!

Coleman Cable 08120 12-Feet Light-Duty Booster Cables, 10-Gauge

Coleman Cable 08120 12-Feet Light-Duty Booster Cables, 10-GaugeThese are not advertised as light duty, but when I got them that's what they are. But hey, I drive a Corolla, they work fine. My manly side wanted some flippin' awesome heavy duty cables, but it's okay.

I read the other reviews when I purchased these, and decided that I didn't need hardcore heavy duty cables for my little Protege. When my battery died, they fired up my car on the first try.

Two weeks later we tried to jump a V8 jeep with these cables and it took about ten minutes of letting the cars sit together before the jeep would start. I don't know the exact physics of this (whether it was the cable or the battery), but when the jeep died again we had better luck with a more intense set of cables.

Since the jeep isn't mine, I'm quite happy with this purchase. They're cheap and they'll get my car started in emergencies.

Got the job done.

Buy Coleman Cable 08120 12-Feet Light-Duty Booster Cables, 10-Gauge Now

Apparentely I didn't read the first guy's review before I purchased these cables because the same thing happened to me. I think I actually saw where it said "heavy duty copper plated steel clamps" and was just thinking heavy duty everything. So although I falsely assumed, it was somewhat misleading at the same time. It's not exactly what I was wanting, but I'm not unhappy enough to return them; I didn't pay a lot for them. Read the reviews and carefully read the fine print!!! Know what you're looking for; all specifications!!!

simple and sweet. there really isn't any need to buy larger and more expensive cables unless you are charging car batteries for a living. These are great, I've used them about 3 times already and they're good as new.

Want Coleman Cable 08120 12-Feet Light-Duty Booster Cables, 10-Gauge Discount?

After leaving my lights on at work, I had to ask around until I found somebody who had cables in their trunk. I immediately went to amazon and picked up a set of jumper cables to keep in my trunk.

These are no frills cables--the cable is decent and the clamps are smallish, but for most cars, these cables will be sufficient.

Jumper cables should be in every person's emergency kit.

Premium Car Charger For Motorola Droid X2

Premium Car Charger For Motorola Droid X2This car charger works very well. It is handy to have available since both my husband and I have jobs that keep us traveling great distances every day. What really surprised me was the fact that not only does this charger fit both cell phones we use, but it also fits my Kindle! What a discovery. Now when we go on road trips together I can have my 3G turned on my Kindle and not have to worry about draining the battery. The price of this charger was very affordable also. Alltel wanted a great deal more to purchase one in the store. I knew Amazon could beat their price.

Couple of dollars for an extra vehicle charger? All worth it to me!

Old World Automotive Prod PKC0J6 "Peak" Jump Starter With Inflator - 12 Volt 600 Amp

Old World Automotive Prod PKC0J6 'Peak' Jump Starter With Inflator - 12 Volt 600 AmpPeak PKC0J6 I bought and unboxed this unit and it does not contain any type of inflator either built in or as a separate unit. In fact there must be some manufacturers confusion with this version and next version up. Or perhaps bad interpretation of Mandarin.

This was the only product I bought on Black Friday 2012. Days later my neighbor rang my bell after leaving her car light on overnight and I brought it over to jump her Honda SUV. It delivered enough power to cause the engine to turn over a bit, but not enough to start it. Useless. Strangely, the nationwide store where I bought it also advertised it as "with inflator." It definitely doesn't come with the inflator. According to the box, the next model up has an inflator, but the inflator also gets poor reviews.

Yeasu FTA-230 Air Band Transceiver

Yeasu FTA-230 Air Band TransceiverActually, I made a mistake when I ordered the FTA-230 as I wanted to purchase the next model up, the FTA-310. When it

arrived, I thought someone had made a mistake and sent the wrong item. Upon checking I was the one who made the mistake,

a good one. This model does not have the VOR/CDI function. Now that I no longer fly, that function isn't much use on land.

I own the Amateur Radio version of the FTA-310, the VX-170, and wanted both radios to be the same style and size. But

all of the accessories are the same and this radio serves my purpose very well. The item arrived quickly, and is easy to

operate and program. Yeasu has the programming software available on their web site for free downloading. I already had

a programming cable from my other radio. Even without the software, loading local frequencies is very simple and quick.

This radio is comfortable in your hand, great receive audio and comes with a headset adapter cable for most common

aviation headsets. Makes a great backup radio for your aircraft. All in all, it's what I've come to expect from Yaesu.

I like this radio Yaesu FTA-230 has a sharp sound and very strong, the functions of the menu are balanced and the radio is built strong and resistant to water from rain, I love the screen has good lighting and excellent reach many miles.

Travel Smart By Conair Adapter/Converter Combo with Surge Protection

Travel Smart By Conair Adapter/Converter Combo with Surge ProtectionUpon receiving the product, I first verified that it worked in the U.S. without the converter enabled as a simple pass-through adapter. Once it passed this simple test, I gave it to my girlfriend who successfully used the converter in Hong Kong to step down the voltage at her hotel and at the airport. In addition, her roommate at the hotel was from Beijing, China and was also able to use the device to charge her phone and use her laptop.

The adapter itself is made of plastic, so it's as durable as plastic can be. The knobs that slide along the side lock in place once you've fully extended the prongs. It's a little bulky compared to other adapters, but that's because it contains several mechanisms for various prongs and the voltage converter circuitry. It also holds the input plug very snug, and the output plug also feels like a sturdy connection to the wall outlet.

product worked like it was supposed to. I traveled to a few different countries and it worked in all of them. (Spain, England, Ireland) Very convenient to have an adaptor/convertor all in one!

I used it during a recent trip to Australia and the converter worked fine. But the converter is kind of flimsy and I had a tough time keeping it plugged in.

The unit is easy to use. It worked perfectly for my laptop. I did notice that for the camera charger, in the converter mode my charger became hot quickly so I could only charge for a few minutes at a time. And for my curling iron, the converter mode barely heated the iron while the adapator mode over-heated.

I am no fan of FM transmitters -all that I've tried do not perform with reliability and clarity. This one is the worst I've tried. I tried this instead of my Kensington cigarette-lighter-powered transmitter. It was much worse with way too much static.

My main purpose of buying this, though, was for when I'm mowing with my WorkTunes Peltor WorkTunes AM/FM Hearing Protector headphones. I hooked it up to my Nano and the receipt was poor, quiet, with some static. However, the worst part was that the transmitter kept falling out of the iPod because it is not clipped in like most good accessories.

Also note, there is no brand name to be found; no website, no phone number, etc.

[UPDATE 4/2/09] It has now failed. I decided to try to use it with a shower radio, but that only lasted a few days. Plus I had to put it so close to the radio, I practically had to wrap the antenna around the iPod. I bought this and it actually works across the room and you can hear it!

But, I just charge it overnight on the computer or disconnect the transmitter for a short time to charge the iPod. The main thing is the reception of the transmitter and that is great and the best one of four transmitters tried.

UPDATE: From 4 stars down to 2.

I bought a second one of these 8 months after the first one. Neither looks like the photo, nor do they look like each other. The first one charged my Garmin exactly as expected however, the one I just received puts the GPS into USB mode. So it seems like luck of the draw which kind you'll get.

See my comment on this review for a possible solution to forcing the Garmin out of USB mode.

Original review:

I bought this for my Nuvi 650. I was a bit nervous since the reviews of other cheap chargers said they put the GPS in USB mode and made it unusable while charging, but I had no such problem. It is a bit tight in the 12V outlet like another reviewer mentioned. Part of the cord is coiled, so be aware if your outlet is exceptionally far from your dashboard. I just had to stretch mine out a few times to loosen it up.

This lasted 8 months before the metal connector plugged into the side of the GPS snapped away from the wire casing after it fell to the floor one too many times. (Those beanbag friction mounts are pretty decent, but make sure to either dust off your dash first or exercise your lightning-fast reflexes if you've got sharp turns coming up.)

Peak PKC0AZ 450 Amp Jump Starter

Peak PKC0AZ 450 Amp Jump Starter(originally written for a solar power forum, but applies here too)

OK, I wussed out, and bought a commercial product! We have a small sleeping hut built on the ranch now, but no power in it yet. It's going to take a while to mount a panel, batteries, charge controller, wire up lights and such, and we arrive at nighttime, and no where to plug the CPAP in ! So I spent a couple days pricing out different ways to accomplish this, and settled on a portable jump start pack. Found a model with good reviews (Peak PKC0AZ 450), and no air compressor (that often fails after 50 total minutes of use). Located one in stock at local autoparts store, and bought it, taking a chance it's been parked in a warehouse for a year, and then in the back room for 2 more years, resulting in a flat, sulfated battery. (fully half of the complaints at Amazon)

Other choice was to get a AGM battery, rig up a case, cigar jack outlet, charger and hope it still fits into the car.

Upon opening it up, and throwing a voltmeter on it, I was pleased to find it reading 12.85V on a warm afternoon. It's built-in indicator showed it was 4/5 charged also good. I plugged it's wall wart (transformer, not switcher, 12V, .5A) in, and let it top it off for a couple hours, it came to quiescence at 13.37v, and I unplugged it. After an hour, it read 13.13V. Awesome! And the Respironics power cord (for the CPAP) appears to fit snugly into the Lighter jack.

Using my kill-a-watt before I was shopping, I'd discovered that the CPAP consumed about 75 watt hours in a 6 hour run, and that for 2 nights, I'd consume about 12.5 ah of battery. The "450A packs" claim to have an 18AH AGM battery in them, but I figured, I may as well have a portable unit, than a hulk that will last me a month. And if I only ran it one night (6.25 AH consumed) and then recharged, it'd live a long lifetime. Well, the power brick for the CPAP is a pig. After running all night (6 hours) , the voltage in the AM, read 12.66v Whoo hooo! Internal battery indicator LEDs still showed 4/5 charge, way less drain than the power brick used (all my testing is done with humidifier OFF) so even though the brick read about 3 watts idle, it was using more with a light load.

So, this will recharge at my shop, and I think I'll get a plug in lamp timer, and set that for a 1 hour charge daily, to keep it topped off between visits. And since the shop is on solar power, now my CPAP is too!

Added benefit, the power pack has a LED lamp built in, and a USB power port, so I don't even need a cigar plug Y cord to charge my phone and PDA.

So, I've owned this less than 2 days, but I think it will do the job I need it to, and it's not DOA out of the box. It can also charge via a running car too, but I've not tried that yet, I think I can also feed it from a 3 stage charge controller set for AGM. And it can jump start the tractor too, if I need it.

And it was a lot less than the $$ soft side 14ah CPAP battery pack. I hope the AMA does not come after me!

I purchased this with the purpose in mind of using it as a portable power source for things like when I go camping it can provide power for lights, an air mattress inflator, etc. The battery rating of "18 amp/hour" tells you it should be able to run something drawing ~18 amps for 1 hour, 9 amps for 2 hours, etc. I've even tried using it to power a small inflatable boats trolling motor for over an hour and it didn't drain it, but I mainly kept the motor on the low setting (using ~8 amps, high would use ~15 amps but I used that only ~10 minute of the time I was out).

The only issues I've had with this unit (why I dropped 1 star) is for charging it, I've had to send power thru the lighter outlet or main jumper cables. The red LED indicating "charging" comes on with it plugged in to their "charge port", but after leaving it plugged in for an hour there was no increase in voltage. I connected up a charger to the other places and instantly saw "12.75V, 12.76, 12.77, etc" (about at the same rate you can say those numbers out loud) showing it was actually charging (and FYI I still used a 500mA charger like they provide, not a 10amp or such). Also the switch for the outlets doesn't turn them off, but they pass power fine. Update Dec 2012: I got the guts to open up the case and on the back of the circuit board, I saw a line of solder going across the switch terminals for the "power outlet" switch. I'm 99% sure that shouldn't have been there, so popped it off and now the switch turns off the outlets. Still not sure about the charge issue though and didn't want to risk breaking the circuit board trying to dig too deep.

I've found that the battery indicator LEDs come on as follows:

While something's in the "charge jack" (to tell the unit that you're charging it) the red LED shows with under 12.75V, the yellow LED shows for 12.75-13.1V, a green LED shows for 13.1-13.5V and 2 green LEDs show for over 13.5. If nothing is connected to that "charge jack" (hinting you're draining the battery) the red LED shows for under 11.6V, the yellow shows for 11.6-11.9V, a green is on for 11.9-12.25V and double green show for over 12.25V. Those make sense to me because 13-14V is fully charged and what you want to measure while charging, yet down in that 12.5-11.5 area is what you want to measure while draining.

As far as it living up to it's title of "jump starting" a car, I have doubts. Just like this battery is ~1/3 the size/weight of a car battery, you won't get but about that much power from it (and the labels like "450 amp" or "900 peak amp" are just a big salesman lie to make it sound big). My proof is from connecting up a 100 amp battery tester to it freshly charged, the battery drops to 9.5V under that load for 5 seconds (and that is close to what a small car starter needs). I was taught in shop class that a car battery should keep 10.5V under 1/2 it's CCA load, so this doesn't pass as even a 200 Cold Crank Amp (so how do they get "450"?).

Update Oct-2012: I tried starting my Ford Festiva (4 cyl) with this alone on a morning with it ~40 degrees out (disconnecting the car battery to simulate a dead one). It did start it, but the starter was slow just barely being able to crank it. I tested my car battery the next morning and it's labeled as 500cca, but passed as only a 200cca (showing I need to replace it soon). After doing that test I started the car and didn't notice anything abnormal (with the starter going much better than on the Peak unit alone even after the drain from the test).

The cars battery condition will also play a big role in whether or not this can "boost" you enough to get you going. If a cars battery is pretty weak (like from leaving your lights on while you went to a movie for 2 hours) but can still provide some power, this can give you some extra power and has a fair chance of getting you going. But if a cars battery is fully drained (like from leaving lights on all night long) and you hook this up to the dead battery, the dead battery will instantly start "stealing" power (to recharge itself) & probably drain this before you can even get from the hood to the driver seat to start the car. In that situation I doubt you'll get started without a charging source (an a/c charger or other car & jumper cables).

I purchased this thinking this was an outright 900amp unit, when I went to pick it up (Advanced Auto)the unit stated 450 starting amps and 900 peak amps, obviously no one was able to tell me what that meant. But I kept it in the spirit of giving it a try. At home, I was able to take a closer look, to see the features. A switch for some workable LEDs, not to bad when you don't have a flashlight around. the DC plug, though I didn't use it yet, looked good. Nice rubber bottom on the unit to help it stay in place. After putting it through an 18hr or so charge, I plugged into a work van (Ford V8) that had a completely dead battery. Hooked up the unit to the battery, and ... nothing. Though I did hear the buzzing noise that my key was in the ignition, just not enough to do anything else. Now I left it for about 20 min. Didn't know if that was either enough or I had it on longer than needed or not enough for that matter, but came back and tried it again. I got into the van and this time the starter was trying to engage, and I kept cranking, either it was going to turn over or die on me again. Well it finally did turn over, which means I will be holding on to the unit, since the other two cars I own are 4 cyl. I have not plugged back into the charger I will see how it runs its course. But simply impressed enough for the price. I did get it at AA over than Amazon was purely price, a preblack Friday special of 50.00 which I thought was excellent at the time for 900 amps... which is really 450 starting amps.

Used once in two years.... worked fine. Now, two years later, seems it won't hold a charge. Charged regularly each month to have max performance available, but it is time for a new pack.

Having written my review as listed below, I then contacted the Company service rep "Mark" and received excellent "Customer Service" which I did not think existed in today's world. My rating of "The Company" went from a single star to 5 due to Mark's involvement. I realize I should have contacted Peak initially, but my expectations regarding service from anyone was so low, I gave up before taking any action. Learned to be a lot more positive in situations such as this.

Thank you Mark and you should be listed on the Asset side of your company's Balance sheet!!!!

After I received the unit, I charged it according to instructions and the "jump" went by the book . On January 23, my birthday, I gave the unit a recharge as specified in the instructions. Prior to retirement was in technical field, therefore a "Nerd" when it comes to procedures and documentation. My neighbor needed a jump on Memorial Day so I quickly got my "Peak' and checked status lights and found only the red L E D would light when checked (25% charged) . Have been trying to "reload" the battery charge with no success since then!! At $80 per jump, I could have used AAA at a lower cost.

This adapter is not made for the ipad. It will not charge the ipad. It is 1000 milliamp. An ipad needs 2000 milliamps to charge properly. Don't waste your money like I did. I hope amazon drops this company.

iPad users are well aware that it can be a challenge to find a charger that properly chargers iPads at full speed. Many iPod/iPhone chargers list iPad also, but charge them at a snails pace because they are not 10watts. This one specifically advertised 10w and was very cheap, so I decided to give it a try.

I have used it extensively and can attest that this does indeed charge iPads at full speed. While it is extremely inexpensive, the only thing "cheap" about it is the plain-wrap packaging -which is jut fine by me. The manufacturing quality strikes me as just fine.

A previous reviewer mentioned that his device did not come with the CE logo as shown on the image; however, mine did in fact have this logo just as shown.

I highly recommend this for iPad users. I have used my first one for several months and have since ordered two more. If they ever fail me, I will update the review accordingly.

NOT A 10 WATT CHARGER. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

The Charger specifications label clearly states it's capacity as 5V @ 700mA i.e. 0.7A so 5V x 0.7A = 3.5 Watts (you can even read the specs in the product photos if you look closely enough) NOT 10 Watts as Fraudulently Misrepresented in the Title and Product Description. An Official Apple iPad charger is rated at 10 watts and provides 5V @ 2.1A = 10.5 Watts or THREE TIMES the power of this charger.

Since neither the iPhone nor the iPod requires anything close to 10 Watts to charge and only the iPad does and this charger only provides 3.5 Watts as it's label clearly states, one must assume this is an illegal attempt to scam iPad owners into purchasing a product completely inadequate for the purpose of charging an iPad especially the new iPad 3 which is said to struggle to charge off an actual 10 Watt charger.

It is of course completely adequate to charge a typical USB powered device like an iPhone or iPod just not any device that requires more power than it's accurately rated 3.5 Watts but this is not what it's being advertised as. It provides 1/3 the power of the official Apple product that it is claimed to be equivalent to.

Should have read the reviews first. Although it's hard to complain about an item that costs 1 cent, it's totally wrong. Bought three hoping to have a few to charge my iPad with...however upon receiving them, immediately knew that they wouldn't work, as they don't put out the proper wattage. So, now I have three that are getting thrown out. Guess I'll have to just shell out more to get the Apple version...but buyer beware, this product has misleading information.

Jabra CRUISER 2 Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone

Jabra CRUISER 2 Bluetooth In-Car SpeakerphoneI own the Motorola T505 and the Jabra Cruiser2. It made sense to me to take a little road test and compare the two bluetooth speakerphones in an effort to determine which one is better. With my mom on the other end, I took to the local freeways and switched back and forth between the two units while mom told me what she was hearing on her end of the conversation.

Form: The Jabra Cruiser2 is attractive. It is lightweight but has a solid feel to it. Controls are simple to use and understand. The unit's design is understated and minimalist. A clip holds the Cruiser2 to your car's sun visor. Unfortunately, the Jabra's clip cannot be reversed. My car, an Audi, has sun visors that flip from front to rear, rather than the usual rear to front configuration. That means that I cannot use the Jabra Cruiser2 unless I mount it backwards. Conversely, the Motorola T505's clip allows the unit to be reversed, which gives one more mounting flexibility.

Setup: Pairing the Jabra Cruiser2 was quick and simple. A woman with a pleasant voice provides pairing instructions and also tells you quite clearly what's going on with the unit. My cell phone is a Palm Treo 755p, which was the model that came out just before the Palm Pre. For whatever reason, the Cruiser2 is apparently unable to download the directory from my phone. So when a call comes in, it simply announces the number rather than the name of the caller. I'm guessing this won't be a problem for most, as it's probably a simple incompatability between my cell phone and the Cruiser2.

Function: I used both the Jabra and Motorola units by listening through the internal speaker and I also used the FM transmitter function. The sound quality of the Jabra Cruiser2 is superior to the audio quality of the Motorola T505 when using its internal speaker. It's internal speaker seems to be larger, clearer and has a better volume output than the Motorolas.

According to mom, the microphone quality was similar between the two units. However, she felt that the Jabra's audio output was more "choppy" than the Motorola's.

When I use a bluetooth speakerphone, I usually set it to output to FM stereo. It is there that the Motorola has a clear advantage over the Jabra. I heard consistent background noise and static from the Jabra Cruiser2 where much less interference was heard from the Motorola T505. Several times, FM radio stations overpowered the Jabra's FM output. Yes, I clearly understand that the goal is to operate on a frequency where no FM station is broadcasting and I tried to do that. But the Jabra's FM transmitter did not seem up to the task. I'd rate it poorly with respect to it's FM output function.

Conclusion: There are things to like about the Jabra Cruiser2 and things not to like. It's appearance is sharp, setup is a breeze, and it's simple to operate. Audio quality and volume using the internal speaker is clear and relatively loud. But I'm frankly quite unhappy with the FM output of this unit.

I was torn as to whether to rate this unit 2 stars or 3 but I gave Jabra the benefit of the doubt with a 3 star rating. However, I don't expect to use the Cruiser2 much, if at all, because the poor FM transmitter is a deal breaker to me. So, if you're planning on using the Cruiser2 by utilizing its internal speaker, I think that you'll be satisfied with its performance. If you want to listen to calls and music using your car's stereo speakers, I'd skip this unit and instead consider the Motorola or a different bluetooth speakerphone with stronger FM output.

After reading all the reviews, I initially went with the Motorola Roadster. I liked that it had the ability to read text messages (my teenage sons favorite way to communicate with me) and that it turned on automatically when I got in the car. Once I had it, it works basically as stated but the sound quality was so poor and the fm transmitter was poor. I bought the Jabra 2 and have been using it for the past few days. I was so surprised when the voice came on reading me a text message! Motorola doesn't tell you this but the app MotoSpeak works with other units! Not only that but the quality of speech is far superior on the Jabra unit. So far, I'm really happy with it. Both units pair with 2 devices, both have FM transmitters, both use voice commands.

Based on my primary uses, here's my list of pros/cons for each

Jabra: Pros

Voice dialer is accurate

Display lights are easy to see.

Connects very quickly with my phone.

Good sound from the unit itself

Better FM transmitter (Washington D.C. area airwaves are packed but I get clear sound all around town)

Nice loud sound from unit, can use it if FM station isn't available.

Announces name of caller/texter

When using with GPS, it is clear and uninterrupted.

Cons:

Doesn't turn on automatically, easy to forget

can't dictate a text response

Points for Motorola roadster: Pros

Automatically turns on when I get in the car

Uses motospeak to play texts

More voice commands. Can just say "answer" or "ignore" for incoming call.

Can dictate a text response

Cons:

Voice dial is very inaccurate

Display lights aren't visible, don't know if it lost the connection

If unit is turned off, once turned on, it doesn't connect to phone unless it is first plugged into charger. Could just be a defective unit but a very annoying quirk

sound from unit too low to use in place of FM transmission

Poor FM transmission. Constantly having to change stations which makes it very hands on!

Cuts off the first part of sentece when using phone GPS

only gives phone number not name even though the phone book was downloaded.

I'm keeping the Jabra Cruiser 2 and sending the other back to amazon. Although the ability to dictate a text response is nice, I find it just as easy to call someone back instead. I don't mind having to turn the unit on when I get in the car. If I forget, the unit pairs so quickly that I can do it before I answer a call and not miss the incoming call. Hope that helps!!

I'm using this with a Sony Ericsson C905a.

Construction Quality: The unit feels great. It's nice and solid, with satisfying weight. It clips on my visor with the wire that doubles as the FM transmitter (clever!) and just feels and looks nice.

Setup: Pairing the device was as simple as a bluetooth headset. A robotic voice comes on when you first turn on the Jabra, walking you through the process. That same voice informed you that it has downloaded your phone book. To connect another phone, just hold down the phone button and the voice repeats the process. Easiest pairing I've ever experienced. The bluetooth will enunciate the names of incoming callers if they are in your phonebook. Setting up the FM transmitter to work was trivially easy. You hit a button on the side marked "FM" and the robot voice tells you the frequency to tune into (and a radio icon lights up). You can hit the + or and the voice will announce a new frequency (these same keys control volume if you aren't using the FM mode).

Performance: The built in speaker is loud, but I much prefer using the FM transmitter. I'm really pleased with the noise cancellation. It's not perfect, but it is much easier to hear, and my wife says I'm easier to hear when I'm talking into this thing. The AD2P -> FM transmitter is a great bonus because my phone has a lot of music on it. The music sounds good, not great (you need a line in for better quality). Honestly, this is probably the biggest surprise for me because I usually hate FM transmitters. Bluetooth reception is also much better than the headsets I'm used to, probably because this device is a little bigger. I can leave my phone in my pocket and make and receive calls.

Battery Life: I have to be honest, I have only tested this for several hours at once between charging. It has been 'on' for 8 hours and handled at least 3 hours of talking without any problems for me, but I don't know how much longer it can last (I suspect much longer). I think I'll be better informed on how well the battery holds up after I've had it for a few months (I'll update this review). The device charges from a USB Micro cable and comes with a car charger adapter.

This little guy works famously, as advertised. But beware, it works TOO GOOD. By that, I mean that the range exceeds that which is practical. So ? So, if you don't remember to switch it off each time you leave the car, and you go into a store, concrete walls or not, if you are still within it's very large radius, you are STILL CONNECTED. If the phone rings, Jabra will answer, even though you will try with your phone in your hand to answer but are prevented. Jabra still trys to connect with your phone as though you are still in the car... Most annoying. If you forget again when parking at home, it will still answer when you get inside. You must remember to switch it off each and every time you leave the vehicle. The only way I could find to override the connectivity and answer the phone in the store or home, was to use the Speakerphone on the phone which commands Jabra to Disconnect. Still, Jabra gets 5-stars for it's clarity, ease of setup, application and faithfulness. :-)
