EnerSys Cyclon Genuine 0819-0012 6 V 2.5 Ah D Monobloc Sealed-Lead Acid Battery

EnerSys Cyclon Genuine 0819-0012 6 V 2.5 Ah D Monobloc Sealed-Lead Acid BatteryThis is an excellent replacement battery made by Enersys Cyclon. Their web site carried the same battery I needed for my home use Life Fitness 9100 eliptical. No guess work...this is a direct replacement battery. Thank you so much! You guys are awesome!

After 10 years, my Cybex bicycle stopped working. Lucky for me a blogger wrote a pictorial step by step instruction manual for how to replace the battery. Voila! That led me to this website to buy this battery and instead of having to spend $2,000 for a new bike, I now have a bike that will go on for another 10 years! It did the job!

I purchased this Enersys (Hawker) Cyclon Battery to replace the corroded battery on my Life Fitness HR9500 elliptical. The battery was looked exactly identical to the one I was replacing and comes with a one year warranty. It has been installed for about a month and works to power the elliptical's computer board and program workouts. I hope it lasts longer than one year, because removing the HR9500's front panel to replace the battery is not a fun task!

My exercise bike is now back in business and working very well. It was a bit hard to install but not related to the battery at all. Thank you.

This is exactly the same battery that was in my Cybex bike. The price and delivery are excellent. The same battery is sold for up to $69.95 on other web sites. A few screws to take off the right side panel, two screws and nuts for the battery, and two slip on spade terminals and you are back in business.....15 to 20 minutes. Best deal out there, don't hesitate.

Fosmon® Premium Quality USB Cradle Desktop Charger Pod for AT&T HTC Surround 7 with Extra Battery

Fosmon® Premium Quality USB Cradle Desktop Charger Pod for AT&T HTC Surround 7 with Extra Battery Charging SlotThis cradle serves the exact purpose I wanted. A stand up charger for my HTC 7 Surround phone. I've searched throughout the internet and was unable to find any other cradle/charger options.

The sync cable works great with no issues so far.

The only downside is the brightness of the LED power indicator. It nearly lights up my bedroom at night. It took a couple of days to get used to that.

It does exactly what it is supposed to do, charge my phone. I can see where if you abused the device by stretching the cord that something would give and cause it to no longer function or the connection socket to come loose. But that is just misuse to me and beyond reasonable care. It has come to my attention that most people do not know that you should not leave these chargers plugged in to the vehicle when starting the vehicle as it WILL CAUSE DAMAGE to the charger. This is true of all car chargers!

The price including shipping was far less then the $30.00 AT&T wants for a lesser charger that falls apart and blinds you with a bright light. I know as I owned one of those too and it broke in 2 months time. That is how I came to purchase one of these. I have had this unit for several months of steady use with no problems.

As the title says this is for a Samsung flipshot and it works just fine for use in a car.

VCAN Blinc 210 Full Modular Helmet with Aviator Graphics (Flat Black, Medium)

VCAN Blinc 210 Full Modular Helmet with Aviator GraphicsThis is a great helmet! Fit is on the money. Great graphics, looks very cool! The BT is amazing, paired quickly and can listen to music up to about 65 mph, road noise hinders after that. Good quality speakers, very clear and functional. I highly recomend this helmet for its looks and saftey features.

This helmet may look like a bargain, and it could be except for one problem: it doesn't work.

I'd experimented with different headphone/helmet speaker systems and this VCAN looked a perfect solution. The graphics are cool and it's very reasonably priced, in particular for a helmet that comes with bluetooth already installed. However, as is often the case, you get what you pay for.

When I received the helmet, I started out by reading the directions which actually made it harder to figure out how to setup and use the bluetooth. Despite what the advertising says, the bluetooth battery does not come installed and you have to figure out first where the battery is located and second how to install it. The directions are no help: there's a picture that roughly looks like the bottom of the helmet with a arrow pointing vaguely to the back of the helmet and labeled "bluetooth discreteness." I am not making this up. Eventually I found that by peeling back the soft foam padding that lines the helmet, at the bottom back of the helmet, under the padding, was a small panel. Merely touching this panel causes it to fall off, as it's apparently held in place by the padding. The panel will be followed by the bluetooth unit, sans battery. The bluetooth unit is "keyed" (i.e., the exterior is constructed in such a way that there is only one way to install it) but not the battery. Like all lithium batteries, if you look at the bottom, there is spot on the bottom with several copper contacts that need to match up with whatever device you're trying to power. No where in the instructions or marked on the helmet is there any indication of which way to place the battery. Eventually I got a flashlight and propped the helmet up so that I could peel back the foam padding with one hand and clutch the flashlight with the other and peering into the minute slot, see where the interior contacts are. How hard would it have been to include a line that says "this way?" Apparently too hard for manufacturers of the VCAN helmet.

The directions say that you should plug the helmet into the charger and fully charge the battery before first use. After it's fully charged, the red charging light will turn green. Fair enough. I plugged the helmet in and let it charge overnight, some 14 hours. The red light never did change to green. In fact, while playing around with the bluetooth the next morning, I couldn't find a green light anywhere, just a red and a blue.

Despite that, I was able to sync up the bluetooth with my Blackberry and, at least standing in my living room, it sounded great. I say "standing in my living room" because I never was able to road test it. More about that later. If I'd wanted to, I could pump up the volume enough to make my head hurt and it was true stereo. This would be a great system in a helmet you could wear while actually riding a motorcycle.

I thought I was ready to road test it. The helmet is extremely cheaply constructed. The edges of all of the parts are rough from where they're vacuum molded and no one took the time to buff them out. Despite the plastic covering over the visor, once I removed it, I saw that it was scratched in several places, *on the inside*. That's just poor workmanship. Raising the face piece up and down requires some muscle and it's very rough in movement, jerking from one position to the other, as if there are internal pieces that have yet to have the rough edges worn off of them.

When I got the helmet, the chin bar was not latched in place, leaving the front of the helmet unsecured. To test the fit, I pressed the front piece into place, which locked securely. The helmet fit well, which was something of surprise, generally I end up playing with helmet sizes. For example, my Scorpion EXO-1000 full face runs a bit small and I wear an XXL, despite having a very average 7 3/8 hat size.

The final straw came when I had to raise the front of the helmet. I pressed in the latching button, which obediently clicked down and I was able to raise the chin bar. Then I tried to re-secure it while it was still on my head. I pressed the chin bar down and nothing happened. I tried again, a little stronger. Then a lot stronger. Finally I pulled the helmet off and tried to close from the outside nothing. The latching button, once depressed, would not pop back up and nothing I did could get the helmet to latch again. So, slightly more than 24 hours after receiving this helmet, it's already in a box on it's way back to Amazon.

The VCAN was a disappointment in nearly every way. So, if you absolutely have to have a modular helmet with a built-in intercom system, consider the Nolan Trilogy Outlaw Modular. I've seen these helmets at a few dealerships and they seem okay. At any rate, I was able to close and latch the chin bar and reopen it again without the use of power tools.

Personally, I'm giving up on helmets with speakers and going with the Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome handlebar speakers. Why not share the music with everyone on your block?!

This is an excellent helmet. Volume is not excessively loud. I can see where high speeds would impede on the sound (epecially for a phone call). I've used it paired with my phone for Spotify. I simply love it. If it had a little more volume or noise insulation, it would be a perfect 5 stars. It's still probably one of the best things since sliced bread ;)

Combo Rapid Car Charger + Home Wall Charger + USB Data Charge Sync Cable for LG Optimus T P509

Combo Rapid Car Charger + Home Wall Charger + USB Data Charge Sync Cable for LG Optimus T P509Upon first opening the packages for the chargers, all three smells strongly of burnt plastic. The feel of each one is that is cheap plastic similar to that of a happy meal toy. Be careful when handling, as they may have sharp edges from the poorly molded plastic. They all feel quite hollow and light.

Safest one to use would be the USB cable, I think. Like the others, it stinks of burned plastic however I think it has a less of a chance of shorting my cellphone battery.

The charger to plug in the wall is not working, is not charging my phone at all. The charger from car is not lasting. I am very disappointed.. The cord is already breaking.

Retractable Cell Phone Car Charger for Motorola Backflip

Retractable Cell Phone Car Charger for Motorola BackflipThis charger keeps the spaghetti mess of cords from invading the car. Small and light, the spring-driven cord lets you get just as much or as little cord as you need. Easily replaceable fuse (though I have yet to take advantage.)

It does run a little warm during charging compared to the Moto version, so don't use it in a tightly packed place or leave it constantly plugged in.

Good value for the money, especially since it's so little money.

I bought this charger as an emergency back-up for my purse. I finally needed to use it last week, took it out of the package, and it did not work. Great small size concept, but don't count on it when you need it.

Motorola T5950 5-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios (Pair)

Motorola T5950 5-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios
  • 22 Channels, 99 Codes
  • NOAA Weather Channels
  • Rechargeable ready with NiCd Batteries, transformer and Two-Pocket Desktop Charger
  • 10 AudibleCall Tones, VibracallAlert, Keypad Lock and Talk Confirmation Tones
  • Audible Low Battery Alert and Battery Meter

I have used this product for a few years, and it generally performs well and offers some really fine features. But...Beware of the manufacturer's "official knockoff" sold at a lower price in many "big boxes"...and even here at Amazon. A copy of another review I filed here follows...

As an outdoor enthusiast, I placed the "regarded" Motorola T5950R FRS/GMRS 2-way radio pair on my Christmas list. While attempting to acquire this set in a chain sporting goods store, my father was "steered" to the alleged Motorola model T6500 by a store associate who said that model was a new replacement for the T5950. After being informed of this, I decided to do some web research, and interestingly found that the model T6500 was NOT to be found ANYWHERE on the Motorola web site.

Seems the T6500 is a "licensed knockoff" of the T5950 by Motorola's mainland-Chinese electronics manufacturer. The units look the same except for the face plate color (Yellow=T5950 / Khaki=T6500). The features are identical--as is the packaging. Only a small indication on the rear of the T6500 package discloses that the product is "Manufactured and sold by Giant International, Ltd., official licensee for this product." Furthermore, it is warranted and supported EXCLUSIVELY by the MANUFACTURER-NOT MOTOROLA!

Now...To the "differences"...and there ARE some-ALL performance related. While Motorola may license their name, logo, and design to an offshore OEM producer, you can be sure that they reserve their customer support AND several technical enhancements for models THEY specifically brand and market.

A side by side comparison between the genuine Motorola T5950 and its T6500 "imposter" reveals several performance issues. The T5950 has relatively good coverage (considering the communications class); audio loudness and clarity that are sufficient for reliable reception on a congested and "spotty" broadcast service; and NOAA Weather Station reception that is fairly good...even 30-50 miles from the desired station. I did not compare the T6500s transmit-receive coverage, but its audio quality and "punch" are WELL BELOW that of the "genuine" T5950. Furthermore, Weather Band reception on my T6500 sample (both units in the set) was very nearly NONFUNCTIONAL.

In conclusion: It is well worth spending a few bucks more for the "Real McCoy" genuine Motorola T5950 (I actually spent $4 LESS with a rebate here on Amazon). You'll appreciate the "domestic support", improved transmit audio quality, and a weather receiver that actually may save your life when you're out on the water!

These are terrific little units with awesome range.

I keep a pair in every car I have for trips to Costco, the Mall, Seaworld or wherever.

My only complaint if the NiCAD batteries. They do get a memory if you don't use them a lot. NiMHD would have been a better choice considering the way you'll likely use them. The batteries will lose their charge whe sitting unused so they are less available for last minute emergency use.

Read Best Reviews of Motorola T5950 5-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios (Pair) Here

Everyone please understands that getting the FCC license for any GMRS radio does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to increase the range of the radio. The license is a piece of paper so the FCC may track who is using GMRS frequencies, nothing more. They used to do the same for CB users in the 70's. They do not track FRS freqs because of the low output power of FRS radios. Range is affected by output power of the radio but mostly by obstacles between you and the other radio. Trees, walls, buildings, hills, etc. reduce the range considerably. A true test of range is on open water or unobstructed Line-Of-Sight from one hilltop to another. (Not everyone has a boat) Buy three different sets from different brands and try them near a lake to test, return the ones that are not to your liking.

Want Motorola T5950 5-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios (Pair) Discount?

I took a pair of T5950 on a 2 week trip. Using 2300mah nimh batteries, they last more than a day. The sound quality was very good. Remember, don't crank the speaker volume to max, this actually distorts the sound. When in the city, I was able to use the T5950s about 10 street blocks apart. The sounds was very clear.

By the way, I saw a comment on Motorola "imposter" and "licensed knockoff" by HippoRadio here. HippoRadio clams T5950 is a true Moto product, while other models like T6500 are "a licensed knockoff of the T5950 by Motorola's mainland-Chinese electronics manufacturer". He came to this conclusion because "a small indication on the rear of the T6500 package discloses that the product is Manufactured and sold by Giant International, Ltd., official licensee for this product."

Since I was looking to buy more Moto's radios, just to verify, I emailed Motorola asking which models are made by Moto themselves.

Here is the official reply from Motorola's customer service Marisol R on Jun 03, 2005. It seems, in fact, ALL talkabout radios are made by Giant International based in China. Any quality difference between models are just due to different designs, quality control, etc., and not due to different manufacturers.

-from Motorola's customer service Marisol R --

Thank you for contacting Motorola e-mail support, we appreciate your request and interest in our products.

Based on your e-mail, we may inform you that all the Motorola Two Way Radios are manufacture by Giant, which is the company that manufactures the Motorola Two Way Radios and accessories.

If you have further questions or need additional assistance, please contact our Cellular Information Center at 1-800-331-6456. Our business hours are Monday through Friday from 7am to 10pm CST and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm CST.

Very nice looking pair of radios, but distance was not impressive. Walking in a residential area which was relatively flat, the radios maybe had distance of about 3/4 mile before transmission began breaking up. That was disappointing considering the advertising suggested "upto 5 miles." Maybe they tested them in the middle of the Arizona desert or something. I'm probably going to return these and try to get something with greater range.

Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad (4th Gen), iPad mini, iPod t

Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad, iPad mini, iPod touch, and iPod nano(2.1 AMP / 10 Watt)So i got this over getting just the amazon lighting cable. This cable work's with most cases, the connector part is a bit larger then the standard apple one, but still fits fine in the otterbox defender series case. Charges my Ipad (4th gen) and iphone 5. Works well, Pretty Slim. The lightning cable tip seems to be the original iphone one. Exactly identical.

Cons: abit pricey at $35.00

Pros: Comes with a lightning cable, that works with otterbox, Cable is good quality also

Fast 2.1 Amp charger

I purchased this from the local Apple store after checking Amazon and finding that the prices were identical. At some point I assume the Amazon price will come down since this seems expensive for such a simple device, but high prices seem to be typical for these iPhone accessories, particularly when the products are new.

Advantages:

the charger and cable are separate, which is a big plus in my opinion. This means that:

---you can use the charger for any other device that uses a USB cable

---you now have another USB to lightning cable, if needed to connect your device to a computer for example

sufficient power output (2.1 amp) for both iPhone and iPad (the iPad and certain other products require a higher power output than the iPhone, some products can't handle both)

green LED illuminates when plugged into car to show that power is being supplied

quality of the charger and cable is very good solidly made, looks good

the lightning plug fits into the phone or iPad and clears the case easily (I have a Speck case on my iPhone 5). The lightning plug is slightly larger than the Apple manufactured plug on cables provided by Apple, as the other reviewer has noted, but not so much that it should result in any interference issues.

Disadvantages:

somewhat expensive

seems to be available in black only, so if you want to have the same white as other accessories, I don't think that is available (yet)

the green LED is much brighter than necessary

The only reason I give this 4 rather than 5 stars is the price. In every other aspect this does the job perfectly, and the disadvantages (other than price) that I've listed are very minor ones.

Currently there are not many choices that I am aware of for a lightning car adaptor. The Apple store carried this product as well as a similar product from one other manufacturer, and there is also another Belkin car charger that does not have the cable and charger separate. I decided to get this model for the reasons stated above, and am happy with my choice.

Buy Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad (4th Gen), iPad mini, iPod t Now

I have an iPhone 5, and plain and simple this puppy works. I have a Ballistic case for the iPhone, and the plug has no issue connecting though the opening of that case (the opening at the bottom of the case is about 1/4 inch wide, or about 6 mm).

The green light is quite green and bright at night. But you know what...? Just turn the plug away from you so that the USB cable blocks the light. Problem solved. Sure, your passenger might get blinded, but that's the price they pay for you to drive.

So while this isn't the cheapest option, you do get the adapter AND a cable, and the cable works. So all in all, not a bad deal.

Great design, nice long cord, ability to charge any USB, bright green light let's you know to unplug it, BUT my daughter and I have purchased 3 between us and every one of them has lasted less than 3-4 months!

Plus, they just doubled the price! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE, ESPECIALLY NOT AT TWICE THE PRICE!

Belkin used to make great products. Perhaps it's the sellers, I don't know, but I'm disgusted.

Want Belkin Car Charger with 8-Pin Lightning Cable for Apple iPhone 5, iPad (4th Gen), iPad mini, iPod t Discount?

I really love this car charger, and love the fact that it has a long, straight cord and not some curly-wrapped cord that catches on everything. It appears well-built and I also use it for my iPad in the house, by unplugging it and using it in my iPhone jack, or via USB on my computer. Typical solid Belkin construction, with a solid, expensive feel makes this a winner.

Yuasa YUA1201501 Smart Shot Battery Charger

Yuasa YUA1201501 Smart Shot Battery ChargerI bought this battery charger to replace a Deltran Battery Tender that cooked the motorcycle battery it was hooked up to. The Yuasa unit works as advertised. The "float" function appears to work as it should, i.e., the battery's voltage is maintained without over-charging. And my bike starts up more readily than ever.

Works as advertised. I use it on my motorcycle and riding lawn tractor. I will be buying a second unit for the winter to use on my lawn tractor since this one will be dedicated to my motorcycle.

Buy Yuasa YUA1201501 Smart Shot Battery Charger Now

Warning: Although these battery chargers have only a 1.5 ampere output and will not begin charging unless they are connected correctly, you are connecting them to a battery which can provide up to 900 amps of current! Shorting the terminals of an automotive battery can cause a conductor as heavy as a screwdriver to explode! Furthermore, overcharging a battery with a fault not detected by a charger can cause the battery to explode! Sulphuric acid will burn your skin instantly and will blind you if you get it in your eyes! If you don't intend to read the several pages of safety instructions at the beginning of the manuals which come with all of these chargers then also buy the cigar lighter attachment listed on Amazon. All three chargers now use the same quick disconnect; I'm not sure about cigar lighter wiring.

Choosing a battery charger is a matter of personal preference and intended use. A 45 AH battery that has been run dead will take over 30 hours with a 1.5 amp charger at best and more likely twice that to fully charge that battery... if it can be charged at all; for that you will need a big charger. Note: Charging lead acid batteries at high charge rates (over 1.5 amp) is not recommended. This review only addresses small chargers designed to keep a battery from becoming discharged while it is in long term (10 days or more) storage. At least one manual says that a large capacity battery may have its life reduced by charging with the low current these chargers supply; that pertains to all small chargers [Storage Battery Maintenance & Principles, US DOT 1998 pp 3 & 10].

Schumacher 1.5 amp battery `maintainers' will restore a discharged battery (not a completely dead battery) at a relatively high rate (almost as fast as a 5 amp unregulated charger because the charge rate of all high current chargers fall off quickly as the battery voltage rises), hence the name "SpeedCharger". After charging the battery to approximately 14.8 volts the Schumacher turns off and monitors the voltage. (A fully charged battery will measure 12.6 volts after an hour of `rest'; a fully discharged battery (not a completely dead battery) will read 11.4 volts.) Once the Schumacher detects that the battery voltage has fallen below 12.6 volts it reverts to maintenance mode until the battery is fully charged. Note: 12.2 volts is about 50% discharged and 11.4 volts is just about dead (there isn't much difference in the voltage reading between a fully charged and fully discharged battery). Since all lead acid batteries `self-discharge' over time, periodic low current maintenance charging has been an accepted way to maintain storage batteries in optimum condition for 100 years [Witte pp 66 & 287, Filiquarian 2012]. The Schumacher automatically detects whether it is connected to a 6 or 12 volt battery. Our Schumacher restored a battery that only measured 12.2 volts after two days charging with a 10 amp charger to 12.7 volts.

Deltran 1.5 amp (not the .75 amp Jr which we just bought) battery `tenders' will restore discharged batteries in the same length of time as the Schumacher and faster than all trickle chargers (we have all types of chargers in use, some for over 40 years). Deltran (including the Jr) uses Yuasa's philosophy for maintaining the battery after it is fully charged, lowering the charging rate to 10 milliamps (almost nothing). At that low rate the battery will not lose electrolyte [Witte pp 151, Filiquarian 2012]. Deltran lists 3 modes: bulk (charging), absorbtion (probably refers to desulphation) and float (green LED solid). The red LED flashes briefly while it is testing the battery. The Deltran Jr is nice for maintaining batteries in vehicles which are used once a week it is a large power `cube' with a very long DC cord. I used cable ties for both sides of the quick disconnect in case I forget to unplug it... it just pops off as I back out of the garage. I really like the red flashing light when the Deltran Jr. is plugged in but not connected to the car.

The Yuasa 1.5 amp SmartShot has a metal case. A switch selects 6 or 12 volt and, like the other chargers, it will not work if connected backwards or set to the wrong voltage. Note: None of these chargers will work with rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries; I'm not sure about any other rechargeable batteries. Yuasa (mine says Interstate Batteries) has 5 stage charging technology: testing flashing yellow LED (I like that), charging solid yellow, desulphation stage (I'm guessing), completed/float mode green LED. I guess the 5th stage is if the battery fails the testing stage flashing red. That's where Yuasa gets the name SmartShot. I've used two of these for 8 10 years.

Sulphation is an issue that might come up when buying a small charger. The Deltran, Schumacher and Yuasa 1.5 amp chargers will keep sulphation to a minimum. `Soft' sulphation always occurs normally in automotive batteries. A low current charge rate is known to control normal sulphation [Witte pp 49 & 53, Filiquarian 2012]. Hard sulphation cannot be corrected without extreme measures; trade in the battery.

Wattage of the The Schumacher, Deltran and Yuasa 1.5 amp chargers is less than 20 watts when charging and 3 5 watts connected but not charging. (Don't be confused by the 10 milliamp output of the Deltran device; that is on the DC side not the input.) Connecting a timer with a 6 watt clock motor to turn the charger off and on doesn't make sense; it uses more electricity than an idling chargers.

Trickle Chargers like our 1 amp Goodyear draw 12.5 watts continuously while connected to an old battery; so we usually use that one on a night-light timer. It had been charging a used backhoe battery (to keep it from dying in case the new one fails) for two months and though it wasn't apparently boiling off the electrolyte when the top of the battery was damp I disconnected it. FYI only water evaporates from batteries; sulphuric acid in a fully charged battery is almost all bound to the plates; plus the boiling point is above 600 F. The specific gravity (the only way to know for sure) of that 8 year old battery measures 12.5; so even though the voltage measures 12.6 volts it isn't taking a full charge. (A fully charged lead acid has a specific gravity 12.65 when fully charged.) Don't use trickle chargers on good batteries without daily monitoring.

Works as advertised. I use it on my son's ATV and works very well. It has even taken a few big drops and still works perfectly. The 1.5 Amp output is better than other lower end chargers for charging new batteries. This unit also has better technology to handle new gel batteries. Will by a second one for my motorcycle.

Want Yuasa YUA1201501 Smart Shot Battery Charger Discount?

As usual, prompt delivery, exactly as ordered.

Easy to assemble, just plug in the proper connectors. It comes with ring lug connectors as well as the big clamps, which aren't all that big.

I bought it to maintain the battery in small two seat convertable that I don't drive as often as I should. Alas, to get to the battery, I have to open the trunk which turns on the trunk light, using up much of the charger's output. Haven't figured out an easy way to keep the light off. So it doesn't charge much, should have bought a bigger unit. My bad. I could charge through the 12 volt accessory outlet (cigarette lighter) except that turns off when the key is removed.

I did contact Yuasa with a question by email, they got right back to me with an answer. If the battery to be charged is very low (mine was) the charger won't do anything. Needed to use a big brute force charger to get the battery up near 12 volts before this unit would activate. Manual doesn't mention that. And the unit gave no indication other than the charge LED being off.

So, not perfect but still useful.

Tripp Lite APS1250 Inverter / Charger 1250W 12V DC to 120V AC 30A 5-15R 2 Outlet

Tripp Lite APS1250 Inverter / Charger 1250W 12V DC to 120V AC 30A 5-15R 2 OutletI used to be a big APC fan, but over the years I have had all kinds of problems with them not behaving well after a battery change. They don't even like the batteries purchased from APC.

I wanted something to use with my computers that did not require specific batteries.Tripp Lite APS1250 1250W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 30-Amp Charger

This product worked out great because I just picked up a couple of Marine Deep Cycle Wet batteries (approx $60 ea) used some cables I had around (#2 Battery cables from auto parts store work great) Just get short ones with two eyes for the connections between batteries (wingnut on bolt connections on most deep cycles) and one longer one to cut in 1/2 and use for both connections to the APS.

The APS takes a 5.5mm allen wrench to tighten the connections, I had to cut the plastic around the outlets a little to get my power strip to plug in directly.

A large (8D) battery box will hold up to 3 size 24 batteries, so I am going to pick up one of those this week.

This unit does not have the B series of DIP switches.

This unit also initially charged the batteries at 50A and then dropped down as they took a surface charge.

The transfer to UPS is seamless when unplugging from the wall for testing.

No flicker or anything on any of the computers.

I am running two computers (+LCDS, Drives, etc) one with a 1000W DA1000 SilverStone DA1000 1000W ATX 12V 2.2 and EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Active PFC Power Supply Retailthe other with a really old 350W supply.

I also have 5 SATA drives in the desktop.

The desktop really only drew 25A on a bootup on battery which = 300W, the constant draw on the batteries with both systems in active mode is 24A The load also includes UVerse box, 8 port switch, two external drives, usb hub, phones, etc.

Am very pleased to retire my SU1000, my SU700R, and my SU420NET upses as well as the various BK500s in my office for this one, much more efficient unit.

When I do some AC testing for how the unit performs from a generator, I will add to my review.

I have installed this along with an AGM battery as a power back-up for my sump pump. It had no trouble starting my 1/3rd hp pump. A good feature is the "charge only" mode that allows you to shut the inverter down when not needed (the winter months in my case), thus preserving the battery. It also has a setting for the type of battery being used (wet cell or glass-mat). I bought this unit to replace one from the Inverter Store that failed in less than a year.

This Tripp Lite 1200 watt inverter/30 watt converter combo is working perfectly. It provides power to the RV entertainment center up to 5 hours a day. It is connected to a12 volt, 220 amp hr battery. The maximum power drawn is 350 watts in this service so this unit is not working hard, but it certainly works well. The converter is in parallel with a 5 amp solar charger and there has been no problems with this connection.

I bought one of these to provide uninterrupted power to my computer, internet and a NAS. The device failed less than two months after the 1 year warranty had expired. It no longer charges my batteries and says it's over loaded, even when nothing is plugged in. I now have a 400 dollar boat anchor, not to mention another 400 worth of batteries, cables and the trip-lite remote switch that I bought to go with it.

this is a great all-in-one solution for battery-based off-the-grid power. I spent a lot of time researching chargers and inverters and which ones I should combine before I found this, which does both easier and much cheaper for comparable performance.

my only suggestion would be for them to add a couple of fused terminals for direct DC power that could be shut off when the voltage is too low, but we can't have everything I guess.

UPDATE: after about 3 years of light summer usage, this thing up and completely quit on me. no power, nothing. it was nice while it lasted, but far too much to spend on something that is just going to fail after a while.

Rapid Car / Auto Charger for the Creative Zen Sleek Photo - uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology
  • High output Rapid Charging adapter fits cigarette lighters in both foreign and domestic vehicles
  • 12 - 24 VDC; 1000 mA high output current for faster charging; full lifetime warranty
  • Advanced internal circuitry prevents device from power surges; overcharging and short-circuiting
  • TipExchange Technology protects investment providing means to upgrade charger tips at lower cost ( Creative Zen Sleek Photo Tip Included )
  • Charging adapter works with both foreign and domestic car lighter ports

The adapter seems to power up my Zen Sleek Photo well and quickly, but there is high end buzz as it's charging when listening to the unit through the Aux input in my car. When simply playing, it's bearable, but when selecting a new song (thereby engaging the hard drive), there's some obnoxious screeching such as one might endure duing a bad goth album.

Coleman CL-3600 Solar Backup Power Kit

Coleman CL-3600 Solar Backup Power KitI bought three of these at Costco for $199 a piece. The charge controller is adequate to the task but there's no display, other than "charging/charged" lights. If you want to know your amps or voltage, you're out of luck (without a separate ammeter).

The power inverter is nice, though at 200W its overkill for a 55W (max) panel set.

At noon in Seattle in early March I saw a peak of 40W in direct sun, so the rating seems realistic. In shade they produce (for me, anyway) about half an amp, which is around 7 watts. If you consider a Gator battery (small motorcycle-style gel battery) is 12Ah, that means it could charge one fully in about 5 hours of sun or 2 days of shade.

I picked up this kit for use on my boat. It's great; I can get out one, two or three panels as I need charging; I even sometimes have one panel out while sailing, which is enough to run my autopilot. It's very good. The charge controller I got works well, too.

HOWEVER, one of the panels I was sent arrived broken. It took me eight weeks of back and forth with ICP solar to get that one panel replaced. What a pain!

Pyle PLMRMP3A 4-Channel Waterproof MP3/iPod Marine Power Amplifier

Pyle PLMRMP3A 4-Channel Waterproof MP3/iPod Marine Power Amplifier
  • Marine amplifier delivers 4 x 100 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms, 4 x 200 Watts Max at 4 Ohms, 4 x 300 Watts RMS at 2 Ohms
  • Power protection circuitry with anti-thump turn-on and soft turn-off to protect your speakers
  • Accepts RCA line inputs and includes a 3.5mm-to-RCA adaptor so you can plug in your MP3 player or iPod easily
  • Also accepts standard high- and low-level inputs from marine head units
  • Includes wired remote control for adjusting volume gain

This amp will do well for most applications, especially the water resistant (NOT fully submersible) ones. Unfortunately like many amp manufacturers Pyle has chosen to exaggerate the amp's wattage rating beyond all reason.

This amp (like many other low end auto and motorcycle amps) is built on the Toshiba TA8210AHQ amplifier chip. In this case the amp has two chips with each servicing two channels. According to Toshiba this chip is rated at 22 watts per channel at 18 volts. At your average car voltage levels (12-14 or so) it will deliver less. There is no voltage boosting stage which would be required to anything deliver more than about 40 Watts bridged into 4 ohms and the TA8210 isn't rated for bridging anyway.

Note: The technical details posted on this unit as of 7/18/10 are also apparently for some other device. This unit has no AA batteries or USB connection.

Some other technical details are inaccurate: The documentation does not mention the unit as bridgable and the chip documentation doesn't either. It IS 2 ohm stable according to the Pyle documentation (a correction). Some elements are barely technically correct: The distortion is only correct at very low power levels and if the unit is providing 22w it is doing it at 10%THD. Frequency response is 20hz 20k not 10hz 20k

Net recommendation: A good unit for marine, motorcycles and where you don't have space. Not as good as it's specs, but most low end amps are using the exact same chip and circuit design with different housings anyway.

I really can't imagine needing anything any louder...and I love my music loud.

This amp is perfect for a quick four speaker job. It spits out enough juice to really get some sound out of your speakers. I hooked this up the Pyle's PLMR6K (6.5" 200 watt speakers with seperate Tweeter) and PLMR692 (6x9 260 watt speakers). This Amp powers these speakers perfected and doesn't hold anything back. I highly recommend this product!

ACCStop described this car charger as fitting a Nokia 2610 cell phone. However, it does not. The piece that fits into the phone is too small. They apologized and sent me another one just like it. I sent another email indicating that I now have two of these that do not fit the Nokia 2610. They again apologized and indicated they would send one that fits properly, but did not. I never received the correct part. Lost $4.25.

Quad-Band Yaesu VX-8DR Submersible VHF/UHF Amateur Radio Transceiver

Quad-Band Yaesu VX-8DR Submersible VHF/UHF Amateur Radio TransceiverFirst of all I want to compliment the seller. They are truly a first class operation there at Advanced Specialties. My reason for saying that is I had ordered mt items at seperate time and different orders, I would have had to pay many shipping charges. I sent them an email and ask them to please consolidate my orders wich they did, saved me 30 extra dollars of shipping. The package arrived in record time and just as ordered. Great seller. Very Friendly, Proffesional people at this seller company.

Now about the VX 8DR, This is an excellent radio in a very compact package. The radio has such great features like, APRS Network, Global positioning Capabilities, Sensors built in, Altimeter, volt meter, tempurature, Barometer. Quad band Ham radio 50/144/222/440 bands WOW! Completely submersible, with the ability to establish internet connection through radio repeaters. Can monitor frequencies to 1000 Mhz. AM/FM broadcasts you name it. Truly a great HT to have and be mobile. From a Legendary company Like Yaesu. What more can I say? I purchased the external lapel mic/speaker, The GPS transponder attachment, The high capacity 1800mv rechargable battery (RECOMMENDED) for prolonged operation of radio in GPS/ APRS mode. This Rig is a must to prepare for uncertain future. Remember to protect your stored electronics in a small faraday box/container. Walter Cronkite a ham radio operator himself has said many times, HAM IS TRULY THE ONLY FAIL SAFE COMMUNICATION IN THE WORLD. When all system s fail Ham Is there!

As a new ham radio guy, I looked at a number of handheld radios before selecting this one. There are 4 operating (RX/TX) bands (6m/2m/222 MHz/440MHz), plus AM/FM tuner, shortwave and weather stations. Plenty of programmable memory slots to store your favourite frequencies, APRS/GPS (with optional receiver) and just a ton of other features to play with. There's even a Morse code trainer in the radio.

All the features does mean that reading the manual is necessary in order to figure out what magic combination of buttons is required to access the various modes and features. Selecting modes and options is done with a combination of button presses and turning the dial. Except for a few things, the radio can be operated pretty easily with just one hand. Transmit power, with the exception of the 6m band (fixed at 1W), can be adjusted to one of 4 levels, up to 5W.

The speaker sounds pretty decent, but you can also plug in regular headphones with a standard 1/8" jack.

As a first radio it can seem a little intimidating at first, but the learning curve isn't terribly steep if you go through the manual. For a new ham radio person that might be a little more technically inclined and isn't afraid to read the manual, the VX-8DR offers plenty of room to grow into as you learn more about being a ham.

Buy Quad-Band Yaesu VX-8DR Submersible VHF/UHF Amateur Radio Transceiver Now

Let me put this on the table firstskeptical. That's what I was when I started doing the research behind this little hand-held. I'd say to myself, "there's NO-WAY that little thing could do all that." Well friends and neighbors, this radio does more!

I agree that the user manual is DEEP. Block out at least 3 or 4 hours of your day in order to get an inkling of how this little baby operates. I bought the programming cable with mine but have not had to use it yet. Know your favorite Freq? Type it in and away you go!

More goodies, are you a MARS operator? Don't know what that is? Do your homework and check out the MARS/CAP mod for this radio and extend its already amazing reach!

Not a HAM operator yet? No worries, just lock-out the transmit option and you can scan the waves for chatter all day! I HIGHLY recommend this radio to those can afford it. You will not be disappointed.

Works great. APRS is reliable. Only gripe is that output for speaker is Yaesu's own weird adapters. Get the extended larger battery for sure. Wish the mod allowed TX on aviation band, however, it's a hassle to own multiple almost identical radios.

I have my radio attached to a RadioShack discone Antenna 24 ft up and I can make contact with my dad ten miles away on 50 milliwatts on 2 meters. Its a little complicated at first but the menu is really simple if you just go through the menu one item at a time with the manual in hand, it's pretty simple. I haven't tried the APRS yet, but it looks really simple. I only wish that the built in TNC could be used with a computer instead of being dedicated to aprs only.

Solar Button Cell Battery Charger

Solar Button Cell Battery ChargerI wear hearing aids. The batteries usually last me ten days from the time I pull the sticker off till I get the beeps that tell me it's time to replace them. Now instead of throwing them away I put them both in the two chargers I bought and leave them under a light in the kitchen that stays on all of the time anyway so I'm not using any more electricity than normal and next morning I put them back in and use them for a few more days. (Some of you will want to know the exact number, sorry different brands hold the new charge for different lengths of time. Also, it can vary even with the same battery manufacturer.) I can repeat this process three and sometimes four times before the Zinc/Air battery will no longer take or hold a charge. But this more than doubles my battery life. I can say that before I got these chargers I had roughly a $120 per year battery "habit". Now its more like $40. More than pays the cost of both chargers in the first year. I plan to get a pair of those Power One rechargeable batteries and see how long I can make them last using these chargers. At least I won't have to lay out the $180 for their charger.

Although hearing aid batteries have a very short life (less than a week) and an inexpensive recharger is sorely needed, this one is absolutely not up to the task. It's a quite small, flimsy, cardboard item consisting of an alligator clip, a hook, a tiny red light and something that allegedly is a solar panel.

For me, the red charging light went on only under the brightest of sun light. Even after a few days recharging, the battery gave a charge of maybe three hours -hardly worth the cost of $20 plus almost $6 in shipping and handling. And then the cost and bother of returning it.

Unfortunately, I had high expectations of keeping my battery costs down, so I was throughly disappointed with this mickey mouse item.

Energizer USB 5W Premium Car Charger with Apple cable for iPad/iPod/iPhone(30-pin)

Energizer USB 5W Premium Car Charger with Apple cable for iPad/iPod/iPhone(30-pin)It works, that is the most important thing. I purchased mine in the store, the box did not say anything about the cable length, I measured mine, the cable is only about 27" long, that is two feet and a couple inches (doesn't 70cm sound so much longer?). Amused me to see it called a wall charger when plugging it into the wall would mean leaving your ipod on the floor... someday I'm going to wrap it up and see if there is anything like the amount of cable left as shown in the picture after wrapping it around the base five times, I really doubt it.

But, it works and is a lot less expensive than some others.

The charger is nice and compact. I like the convenience of the light on the charger that lets you know across a room if your device is charged. The included iPod/iPad/iPhone cable is a little short for my taste. I haven't tried wrapping a long cable around the charger but it looks like it could work.

I bought this charger on a random road trip last year when my older charger quit working and boy was I impressed! The car charger has a good cord length, short enough to put your phone in a cupholder without too much extra cord. The charger is lightning fast and can give you a full charge in 20-30 minutes even with a GPS app running. I even swap out the cord from time to time and use it to charge up my gopro, which is convenient. Overall I would buy this product again and have told a few friends about it.
