Brunton Restore 2 Solar Panels and 2200 mAh Battery

Overall this is probably a great product for camping trips and most standard uses. The electronics work great, the battery charges fairly quickly (never really timed it). The device just isn't durable enough to withstand the stress applied to it in harsher climates over long periods of time.

This is a good product. It does exactly what it they say it will do which is provide about 12 minutes of flight time to your AR Drone 2.0. I think it could be better if it had a bit larger capacity. There are other batteries available that claim to provide more flight time. This product just isn't that type. I gave it 4 our of 5 stars only because it lacks the capacity of other batteries on the market. I don't think that Parrot would warranty the AR Drone if you used the after market batteries either...Read Best Reviews of Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Battery Lithium-Polymer Replacement Battery Here
This battery is great as a backup for your Parrot! I recommend having several around since they don't last very long.Want Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Battery Lithium-Polymer Replacement Battery Discount?
The makers of these batteries should take into consideration that we like flight time not recharge time!!!!Each battery charge does not sat more than 10-15 min of flight time.
If you do a flip the battery drops at least 10%.
You should buy at least four of these to have a good time with your drone. Otherwise you'll only get 15 minutes of fun a day. This battery is a little behind in the times. There are higher capacity options that weight the same as this battery. You are lucky if you get 9-10 min of flight with this stock battery. If you are looking for more flight time, around 15-20 min flight times. Than here is a better solution:
Bastens 1300 mAh LiPo battery and charger upgrade for the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 & 1.0 a high capacity alternative replacement battery with a fast charger 15 to 20 minute flight time and roughly 40 min charge time
Another reason to purchase the upgrade battery AND charger is to decrease charge time. With the above kit will charge the battery in about 40 min, this is much lower than the stock battery and charger which takes about 1.5 hours.
Why do you *have* to buy an charger with the battery upgrade as a kit? Why not just use the charger included? A big change from the AR.Drone 1.0 to the 2.0 is the battery connector. They changed their balance port connector on the battery to their proprietary connector. This means if you want to increase the flight time of the battery you will have to buy both a battery and charger as this battery uses a nonstandard balance connector :(
Happy Shopping!
UPDATE: The down side of stock batteries are slow charge times. With the stock charger this can take hours to charge. Now there are faster charger options, this is a big deal because previously there were no other options than the stock charger. The following charger offers faster charge times and is worth consideration

Generac 5847 XG8000E 8,000 Watt 410cc OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit & Electric

Well, I'm glad I bought the Generac 5847! It shipped fast and was well packed in its carton. All parts and documentation were in the box as expected, and it was easy to install the wheels and fill it with oil and gas. Generac includes the oil, plus a maintenance kit including an extra oil filter, air filter, spark plug, plug wrench, and even a paper funnel and a couple of paper shop towels nice! You also get a trickle charger that you can plug into the wall to keep the generator battery topped up and ready to go (and of course when the generator is running, you can plug the charger into one of the 120v outlets on the generator). This thing is built tough, too the bright orange tube frame is seriously beefy, and the motor-generator combo is mounted on big rubber isolators. I also like that it has a proper spin-on oil filter, a feature missing from most portable generators.
I tugged the choke lever, pushed the start switch and VROOM the gennie fired right up! I also tried starting it using the pull cord and found that it started in one easy pull. Then I plugged in a couple of tools and lights just to test that the outlets were hot, and the generator didn't even notice. The noise level is about what I expected: it's a gas engine, after all, so it ain't silent, but it's on par with other generators I've heard, not to mention other gas-engine powered tools I have. And as usual for portable generators, this one is not weather-proof, so I'll be making a shed for it. I also plan to wire up a waterproof twist lock receptacle on the outside of my house and properly connect it into my house's load center no back-feeding through the clothes dryer receptacle for me!Generac has the worse attitude about customer service and support that I have ever encountered. The generator (once it is fixed and working) probably is a 4 or 5 like many others have rated it. Over all I give them a 2. If your generator works correctly on arrival (based on reviews most seem to), you will probably be very happy with it.
If you buy a Generac generator, you should be aware that Generac's response to warranty issues is dismally slow. Their written warranty does not cover needed adjustments, even if your new unit arrives out of adjustment. (The output of mine was only 100 volts on arrival.) If you do not have the means to get the 250+ pound unit to a repair dealer, Generac's warranty does not cover pickup and delivery of the unit. You cannot return it to Amazon once it has had gas in it, which I knew when I ordered it.
After three frustrating weeks of emails, phone calls and slow responses, I finally got Generac to cover the $80 repair cost and the $55 pickup and delivery charge. Their attitude was that according to their written warranty it was my responsibility to pay another $135 to get the defective product working the first time. A detailed time line follows, if you are interested...
02-January-2013
My brand new generator arrived on December 28. The shipping box was in perfect shape and there was no visible damage to the unit. I was able to test it for the first time over the weekend and found that it only delivered 100 volts and the frequency was only 58 Hz, with no load. As per instructions, I contacted Generac and was given the name of a service dealer. The service dealer was very nice but they require a deposit to look at the unit, which they will return when and if Generac approves the warranty repair. The service dealer warned me that it sometimes takes 4 weeks for Generac to authorize the repair.
I also have to get the 250+ pound unit to the service dealer or pay the service dealer to pick it up from my house and Generac will not cover the pickup charge under warranty.
I contacted Generac a second time and told them that this was not an acceptable solution for a purchase that was not working correctly upon arrival. The representative told me that none of the incident escalation people were available and that I could submit an incident form electronically. I've submitted an incident form to Generac. We'll see if they resolve this quickly. If so, I may raise my rating.
I cannot return it to Amazon since it has had oil and gas in it. Plus, I had to cut the shipping carton apart to put the wheels on and roll it out (far too heavy to lift). Checkout the return policy before you order.
Update 08-January-2013
Here is the response I received from Generac in response to the incident form I filed:
"Thank you for contacting Generac, my name is (removed) and I will be your case coordinator. I apologize for the failure of your generator, however Generac unfortunately cannot pre-approve a repair as the repairs needs to be diagnosed as a manufacturing defect in order to qualify for warranty coverage. In order for warranty to cover the repairs, the issue would need to first be diagnosed by a certified service dealer as a manufacturing defect. Not all service dealers require a deposit and if you would like to contact some additional dealers, I have included a list below. If the service dealer does request a deposit before working on the unit, that deposit should be returned if the issue is found to be a warrantable item. As for the travel expense, I apologize for the inconvenience, but the product warranty only covers parts and labor for the repair, with transportation being the responsibility of the consumer. Once again, I apologize for the failure you've experienced and if you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me back."
Basically it is my responsibility to get the DOA unit to a repair dealer. I do not think this is very good customer service for a generator that did not work correctly the first time it was started.
Update 24-January-2013
It has been almost a month since my generator was defective on arrival.
I managed to get Generac to agree to be responsible for the $55 fee for the service dealer to pickup and return my generator. The service dealer picked it up on January 14. They told me on the 18th that the repair should be under warranty and that they were waiting for Generac to respond. I contacted Generac on the 18th and was told that they were waiting for something from the dealer. The dealer gave me the claim numbers showing that Generac acknowledged receipt on the 17th. I do not understand what Generac needs from the dealer.
There was still no word from Generac as of yesterday, the 23rd. I emailed Generac yesterday and told them if I did not receive confirmation by today that my claim had been resolved I would submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
I just do not understand how a company can be so slow to get a product that was defective on delivery fixed. Are they so backed up with warranty claims that it takes weeks to approve one after it is submitted by one of their recommended service dealers?
Update 25-January-2013
It got worse before it got better. My Generac Case Coordinator called me shortly after noon yesterday. He explained that the repair was just an adjustment to the governor that regulates the speed and that adjustments were not covered under the Generac warranty because they were not "manufacturing defects." He said that I should read their written warranty (wish I knew all of this before ordering). I explained that I would not accept this since the generator produced low voltage the first time I started it and as far as I was concerned it was a manufacturing defect since it never worked correctly. I asked to speak to a manager and he told me that he was a manager. I asked to speak to his supervisor and was told that he probably could not get back to me that day. After making it clear that I would be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, if his supervisor did not contact me that day and agree that Generac would cover the repair, we ended the call.
The Case Coordinator called back about 20 minutes later and told me that Generac would pay the $80 for the repair plus the $55 for pickup and delivery of the generator. Hopefully the service dealer will be able to deliver it to my house today (they are really nice people but are a small operation).I bought the Generac XG8000E after experiencing two week long power outages this fall (Hurricane Irene and the freak Halloween snow storm). After waiting to get my transfer switch installed I finally decided to power up the Generac to test out the wiring and circuits. I was disappointed to find that the Generac was very difficult to start. I think the problem is there is no gas prime bulb. I put in only one gallon of gas at first and tried for an hour to start the thing. I disconnected the fuel line filter to see that gas was flowing pass the gas cutoff switch it checked out OK. Then I tried to pour gas into the fuel line still didn't start. Finally I emptied my 2.5 gal gas can into the Generac and then it started after several more attempts. So if you buy a Generac put lots of gas in the tank in order to use the gravity of the gas to help prime the carburetor. And hey Generac put a primer bulb on your gas line! And also put a sticker on the gas tank to tell owners to fill the gas tank when starting.I purchased this generator three years ago and couldn't be more satisfied with it. I had an electrician install a 100 amp transfer switch and now can easily power the entire house with this unit. With selected circuits on, I can run the generator for about two hours on one gallon of gas which is a wonderful feature. We lost power for five days on three occasions since purchasing this generator and having electricity makes investing in this worth every cent.
I noticed that with running two refrigerators, one freezer, lights, tv's, heat, and the computer, I was only using about 25% of this 8000 watt generator's capacity. I will run my central a/c with it should I lose power in the summer as well. We also bought this same unit for our son. I do start the generator and allow to run once every two weeks, and charge the battery overnight twice a month, to insure it will be ready for the next power outage.

- Simply and beautifully designed USB charger with two ports/Compact shape and easy to carry
- Supports 100V240V/Stable supply large capacity of electric power with 5V/1000mA
- Overcurrent protection, overcharge protection circuit
- LED light for charging status/A rotary plug that rotates 180-degree

- USB charger with two ports.
- Supports 100V240V.
- Stable supply large capacity of electric power with 5V/1000mA.
- Overcurrent protection, overcharge protecting circuit.
It also doesn't hurt that it has a tidy, clean design. The rotating plug makes it nice and compact for travel, but the sliding cover is a bit chintzy and not very satisfying to slide back and forth; I just leave mine open. The build quality of the rest of the charger is adequate, if not bulletproof.
It may not be the cheapest USB charger out there, but for under $15, I'm happy.

- Plug in this spare car charger into the cigarette lighter and charge the battery of your Garmin GPS;
- Type: Car Charger;
- Designation: Automobile;
- Compatible with Li-Ion , Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh batteries; 200 days warranty.
It charges your GPS without any problems at all, mine has been working great for months now.
The only issue is that it lacks quality shielding, so it may mess with your FM radio a bit.
Seriously though, it's great for it's (dirt-cheap) price.
~RustyI am very satisfied with this purchase. My concern was that this charger would not keep the GPS unit on when it is functioning, however my fears were never realized. This charger will continue charging your GPS unit even when it is in use.
It arrived fast and the price was more than reasonable. I have no complaints!

Vmaxtanks AGM 125ah for Solar Wind Power Emergency Backup Generator PV panel or Charger AGM 12V VMA

These batteries are perfect for the applications they describe (solar). Like another customer mentioned, it even has its own torque recommendations. Given that I don't leave it with a float voltage or anything and move it back and forth from the solar panel system I built to the house to be hooked up to an inverter, I don't really pay much mind...but if you plan on leaving these in a stagnant location, I would definitely follow the torque recommendations to get maximum potential and efficiency from these batteries.
I still can't get over the free shipping! Anyway, coming from the point of view of someone who worked with batteries and DC power for a living, these are awesome batteries. After extensive study of what type of battery to use for my solar storage, I decided to spend the extra money and buy a top of the line battery. After all, it is as important as the solar panels, if you plan on actually using the voltage once the sun goes down. This battery was a complete surprise. Be prepared to deal with the weight this is one heavy battery. It even has the tourque specifications for the terminal posts written on the top of the battery. If you are using any type of 12 volt storage this will definitely impress you.A very heavy object delivered right to my doorstep. The packaging was intact, the battery was in pristine condition. I have been using this battery for a solar test system. It charges well, maintains the charge, and discharges well. Years are needed to determine how it lasts, but so far, so good.Used for emergency backup power. Charged fully and checked several weeks later. Battery was still at full charge. Great battery with plenty of capacity! This battery hold up under load, and charges fast. I have run computer, big screen TV, lights, hard drives. Does an excellent job. Note: Very heavy battery.

Coleman CL-3600 Solar Backup Power Kit

The power inverter is nice, though at 200W its overkill for a 55W (max) panel set.
At noon in Seattle in early March I saw a peak of 40W in direct sun, so the rating seems realistic. In shade they produce (for me, anyway) about half an amp, which is around 7 watts. If you consider a Gator battery (small motorcycle-style gel battery) is 12Ah, that means it could charge one fully in about 5 hours of sun or 2 days of shade.I picked up this kit for use on my boat. It's great; I can get out one, two or three panels as I need charging; I even sometimes have one panel out while sailing, which is enough to run my autopilot. It's very good. The charge controller I got works well, too.
HOWEVER, one of the panels I was sent arrived broken. It took me eight weeks of back and forth with ICP solar to get that one panel replaced. What a pain!

iPhone 5 Car Charger

After a google search, I came across this item. Since this is half the price of a few others on the market, I decided to give it a try.
So far I'm very satisfied with it. Good quality, fits in my car charger easily, and charges my phone quickly.Nothing iPhone or apple specific about this product. No lightning cable included (when I ordered it, the pic showed one). Simply a car lighter to USB adapter. Do yourself a favor, save some money and buy this for $3 at a mall kiosk.very poor quality and took forever to arrive. lightning connector broke the first time I used it. just pure junk. The item photo shows the cable for the Iphone 5 but doesn't come with it. This is of very little value without the cable and the charger has no specific design for the Iphone 5.I am so angry for not reading the reviews first, I too bought this explicitly because it showed the cable with it, but they have since pulled that photo, it will be going back the minute I receive it how pathetic they would cheat buyers like that.

Goal Zero 11402 Guide 10 4AA Battery Recharger

The Nomad 7 is the only solar panel that has the capability to charge an adequate battery pack, my headlamp AAA's, AND my smartphone/GPS all in the same day in full sunlight. It is the only panel that has reserve capacity to charge my devices in less than full sun (shady/cloudy). No other panel has the output of the Nomad 7. Its closest competitor is the Brunton panel. The Brunton weighs 20% more and is rated to output 30% less than the Nomad 7 (Brunton = 5 watts, Nomad 7 = 7 watts). In my testing the lower output was verified. The off-axis performance of the Nomad 7 is superior. It maintains full output to a greater angle of sun than any other panel I have tested. The Nomad 7 is the only panel, in my knowledge, that uses the more efficient mono-crystalline panels. It does seem to give it an edge in real-world usage. As far as flexibility, that characteristic has nothing to do with panel efficiency. Another of the well-thought out features of the Nomad 7 is the connection options. The Xpal SP-2000 and the Solio both rely on many different tips to connect to different devices. The Nomad 7 has three great options built in: 6.5 volt fast charge for the Guide 10 charger, 5 V USB connector, and a port that the included 12V female car lighter adapter plugs into. Every portable device has the option of an inexpensive car power adapter, and the Nomad 7 nicely offers that ability.
The Guide 10 charger works to its rated specifications, unlike most of the other solar devices I have used. It charges AA and AAA batteries. It charges them faster with the Nomad 7 than any other solar panel/charger combination that I have tested. The Goal 0 batteries that ship with the Guide 10 are the best of their type I have tested. They are low-discharge, like the Eneloops, but much better. The Eneloops are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge only to about 1900 mAh capacity. The Goal 0 are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge to 2200 mAh. The guide 10 has some very well thought out features, including the LED flashlight, the function switch and the built-in hanging loop. These touches all demonstrate that the designers are users, and thought well about how these devices would be used.
All is not perfect, though. The Guide 10 does have an overheating problem, but only in very strong sunlight and under certain conditions. This is a known issue that is being fixed as I write this. This brings me to one of my most important experiences; customer service. Goal 0 has the best customer service by far than any other of the solar panel manufacturers I have tested in this group. Immediate phone contact, responsiveness to questions and warranty service are far and away some of the best I have experienced.
Following is a list of the solar panels I have tested, and short comparison comments on each.
1. Powerfilm USB + AA: This one has a great form factor, is flexible and very durable, and is the lightest weight and most compact of all the solar chargers. Its fatal flaw is that it simply does not put out enough power to be practical in extended backpacking. It does not fully charge the AA batteries when it indicates a full charge, and is not nearly as flexible as the Nomad 7 for connection. The unit was replaced on warranty, but the replacement performed exactly the same. I tested a total of four of these, and all performed the same. Customer service was good, after spending weeks trying to get their attention, and this happened several times.
2. Solio Classic: This one has a nice form factor, but the unit simply does not charge its internal battery nor a connected device at all adequately. Just in case, I had it replaced on warranty and the replacement performed exactly the same.
3. Xpal Power SP-2000: Same as the Solio. Internal battery rated at 2000 mAh, only charges to about 1100-1300. Not enough power overall to be practical. Very good customer service.
4. Brunton Explorer: A good panel, but not enough overall power. Weighs 20% more than the Nomad 7, output is 30% less. This charger ships without batteries. That is not at all clear from the product description.
It does ship with what looks like the AAA insert. Again that is not mentioned in the product description.
Additional info:
I had purchased a AAA adapter and batteries separately and so I have been able to use this product. With the 4 x AAA the pack works great. I was able to fully drain the batteries this weekend and after just 2 hours on the Nomad 7W panel they were full again. I used the pack today at work to recharge my Sansa Clip and set of Tweakers. After charging both devices the pack just started slow green blinking which means it just hit the 2/3-1/3 charge remaining.
Other than the product description I have had a wonderful experience. I am going to adjust my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

It melted.I had it one week. I was using it with the correct solar panel and it was tucked inside of the pouch that was designed for it. So, I guess that the plastic that it is made from is not designed to withstand the heat of sunlight; even though it has to be in sunlight to charge. Go figure.

After purchasing the Nomad 7 (they didn't have the adventure kit in stock where I bought it) I wanted to complete my set up and purchased the guide 10 separately. I liked the idea that it had it's own accelerated charging port and seeing as how they had corrected the "melting" issue it seemed like a safe bet. After having my expectations in solar technology reigned in by several other products over the years I was truly amazed at just how well the Nomad panel works...indirect sunlight, on an overcast day, through a window and my ipod touch starts charging...unbelievable!!! When I received the guide 10 I was hoping it too would somehow exceed my expectations. I popped in some eneloops and plugged in my ipod to see if it would charge and it did for about 30 seconds or so before it gave out. I wasn't sure how much juice was in them to begin with so didn't think it to be a problem and saw it as a great opportunity to do a charge test. I hooked it up to the nomad and found a pretty bright spot and all seemed well, the red flashing started almost immediately indicating charging had started. I couldn't wait for it to finish the charge outside so I brought it back in and hooked it up to usb to finish the charge. I'm not sure what they use for the charging algorithm but they claim it should take about 6 hours on usb to charge, and being that it had moved from red to green flashing while outdoors it seemed a bit odd that some 8 hours later it was still slow blinking green. I decided to unplug it and see how it was coming along. I moved the switch from off to the charging position and the reassuring green light came on so I plugged in the ipod and nothing...I took a different cable and my phone and still nothing, so I poped out the batteries and checked there individual voltages which were all around 1.47 volts(usually a full charge on other chargers). I put the batteries back in and checked the usb output voltage which was around .66 volts. I had seen that some of the original chargers had some issues with not completing a charge and thought maybe somehow I had gotten one of those, but according to the picture on there website this is a 2nd generation charger so I'm left to wonder if in fixing the melting problem they might have inadvertently threw something else out of whack. Now I guess I'll decide if its worth sending it back to try and get it fixed, buy anther one and hope this one is just a dud, or wait a while to see if it is in fact a problem with the new design(from what I can tell this version is just weeks old) and see if they come up with another replacement program so I don't have to deal with sending it back. Their customer service appears to be good so I'm sure it will be fine whichever way I decide to go, but if your in the market and not in a hurry you might want to wait a bit to see if anyone else reports any issues with the new one.UPDATE:
After leaving it plugged in overnight it did finish charging but the USB port is still useless for charging external devices.
UPDATE 2:
Tried to charge 4 aaa's by USB today and 12 hours later it's still flashing red so I'm confident there is something not quite right with this unit. This company gives me the impression that they are trying to make a great product so I still have hope that this one was just a lemon as happens occasionally with everything that is manufactured. For the sake of satisfying my curiosity I ordered another one and will compare the performance when it arrives and post a final update
UPDATE 3:
Got the new one and it seems to be working. Put in charged aaa's and it went from red to green to solid green in about 10 minutes so it properly sensed that the batteries were already charged. Was able to use the unit to charge up my ipod and then recharge the batteries by usb which took a couple of hours without getting stuck on some stage as the first one did. I can't say anything as to the durability or if it will continue to work as it is but out of the box this one is functioning properly. One other random note is that this one didn't come with the aaa battery insert. It is listed on the package as an included accessory and the package was "sealed" with the 3 zip ties when it got here so it must be a packing oversight. Despite the bugs I still think their product is the best portable solar solution on the market today.

I liked the products external design, implementation, features etc. I stored it in a water proof box with my phone, and kept it in great environmental conditions. But within 3 days of using it to charge my iPhone from AA batteries, the switch that selects off, charge, or led flashlight, broke. Now only the led flashlight functions. The green/red/orange led that indicates charging status will blink occasionally when trying to slide button from side to side. Sometimes I can get it to stay green but fresh batteries won't charge the phone so I am not sure what is wrong with it electronically. Would have been a great device if it didn't break.Saturday, December 14, 2013

Tektrum Universal 90 watt 90w 36v Solar Panel Battery Charger Kit for Golf Cart

William R. Allen
wrallen@windstream.netThe kit is easy to install and works great. Their stock picture shows a custom roof but I had no problems installing the system on my stock roof. The panels, controller, and cables are all high quality. I have room for a 4th panel and am thinking of adding it but I believe I will have to connect the serial linked panel pairs in parallel to keep the voltage in the controllers limits.

For HTC ThunderBolt 4G / HD2 / EVO Shift 4G / HD7 / G2 / Desire ADR6275Aria / myTouch 4G / G2 / myT

Usually, my wife seems to always forget to charge her phone at home so she's used it quite a bit more than I. When we're on long road trips we leave the phones plugged in so we can use them as we travel and when we get to our distination, our phones are (usually) fully charged for a day of sight-seeing.
I use the GPS (Sprint service) feature on the phone, so my old Magellan GPS is now obsolete. Besides, the battery had gone out (dead) on the Magellan and it would have cost what I paid for one of the phones (with rebate), and I was just about to pay out nearly a hundred dollars to update the navigation system. Thank goodness we bought the new phones.
By the way, the blue light on the plug (the part that goes into the car's cigarette lighter) is just right and bright enough to let us know the connection is working. The phones have battery-charging indicators also.
Rate a 10 on a scale of 1-10. Great product and well made. This car charger works perfectly. Its dual USB ports is not only great for charging my HTC HD7 phone but also for charging an iPod and/or a Nintendo DS, which is especially useful for long drives and road trips.I bought this car charger for my T-Mobile MyTouch 4G and it is working perfectly so far. The phone has been charging properly and neither the phone nor the charger get hot like I have heard some people say about other chargers.I was in need of dual usb adapter and was concerned about quality and functionality. I am not disappointed in this product. Has worked well so far and would highly recommend to others. On the good side, it can charge 2 devices at the same time. The bad side is that if my 'droid is navigating, it burns about as much power as it draws, so it doesn't really charge... Already bought a better one from a name brand, kept this as a spare.
