Pioneer CD-INCAR2 Car Kit for Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Radio

There are problems with this approach:
1. The first time you go through an automatic car wash the clip-on cable will be stripped right off.
2. The clip-on portion only works with extremely thin "whip" style antennas. My wife's car has a short, thick "aero" style antenna (in the center of the very rear of the roof) that is totally incompatible with this kit. They don't tell you that before you buy it.
3. Who wants a cable strung through your car for passengers to trip over? Who is going to rip out dashboards and upholstery in a new car to run this underneath? Maybe a professional installer, but this kit was aimed at the home user, supposedly.
In my case I finally tried running the "sure connect" cable under the floor mats, into the back cargo area, and then ran it in a large loop around the inner edge of the rubber seal around the hatch back, leaving the clip-on tip dangling where it wasn't obvious. The only reason this kit gets two stars instead of one is that worked: the signal is strong enough to reach the external antenna without any wires going outside the car.
If you're going to use your INNO2 in a car, be warned, and you probably should save the $70 and give it to a professional installer who'll jack it into the back of your existing radio's FM input--except I bet you have to buy the kit anyway, to get the FM transmitter enabled through the cradle, don't you?You need to buy this item to active the "FM Modulator" that is built into the Inno Radio. But that is a joke because the only way that you are going to get sound thru your radio is if you plug the sure connect into the antenna which make the Idea of the availability to keep it simple and cheap a waste of time and money. Most cars don't have an antenna that you can get to let alone getting to the radio itself to make this work. $60.00 for this extra gadget and another $100 to have a professional install it correctly. Bottom line THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A WIRELESS FM MODULATOR, WIRED YES, WIRELESS NO!

Having just gotten a vehicle with XM radio it's hard to understand that this many wires are required to adapt an Inno for car use. My wife doesn't want this many wires in her car. In an age where we have Bluetooth it's pathetic to have a primitive kit like this, it's not cheap for what it is. I won't be fitting it and it's a pity I discarded the packing or else it would have gone back to the store.Want Pioneer CD-INCAR2 Car Kit for Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Radio Discount?
I was already miffed at having to purchase this product because all of the Pioneer Inno's literature touted its having a "built-in FM modulator." But, according to XM Radio tech support, the FCC prohibits the use of the FM modulator without the car kit, so it is only activated when attached to the car cradle. When I received the product, I tried it in three different vehicles, a dozen different FM stations each, and never got even the faintest XM signal to broadcast (note that I had 3-4 bars of reception during this trial). This is an awfully expensive product to perform so poorly. To make matters worse, I returned the item for a refund over THREE WEEKS ago, and have not heard a thing (even though I used Amazon's own pre-printed return shipping label and package insert label, Amazon customer support claims it cannot give me a status of this return; the only way I will know its final outcome will be when the refund posts to my credit card). Needless to say I am extremely dissatisfied both with the product and with Amazon's return processing.Sunday, June 22, 2014
BlackBerry Torch 9800 Rapid Home Travel Wall Charger + Rapid Car Charger + USB Data Charge Sync Cab

#1 USB cable to connect Blackberry to Computer. Didn't work.
Sent email in and got a replacement it Didn't work either.
#2 Car Charger for Blackberry lasted two weeks doesn't work anymore.
#3 Home charger for Blackberry still works.this little package covers all my needs for charging and transferring data on my Black Berry. great price, quick delivery. I'm a happy camper.Do not even think about buying this product ( BB torch 9800 charger )
It don't work ... Not good it won't charge the phone
Like they said " it's too cheap to be true ..dont waste your money on this ..you will be very upsetI wish I could give this negative stars! I have the charger I received w/my phone but wanted to purchase one for work so that I could just leave there in case my battery was low. HUGE MISTAKE. It appeared to charge my phone, however the second I touched any key my battery would immediately drop to 3 or 4%. I tried to charge it w/my other charger and it wouldn't hold its charge either. I ended up having to purchase a new battery. The cheap comes out expensive sometimes, def learned my lesson w/this one.

good piece. money was ok, harder to use compared to a garmin. and later on, it broke. it would freeze, then finally stopped turning on. when it did work, it was ok. i had this unit replaced once already from clarion itself. buy a garmin.Read Best Reviews of Clarion EZ58TMCPK Bluetooth Interface with NAVRDS Here
FYI, I operated this unit in Seattle, Washington and some in L.A.Well I decided to be nice and give this unit a review of 2 Stars (I don't like it) when I was tempted to give it a 1 Star (I hate it) due to it's complete uselessness after about a month. After a while, this unit proved itself to be a lemon and completely worthless for getting anywhere (detailed explanation below). It worked fine for a month and I was excited that I had gotten a winning product.
Then the "out of memory" errors started. After about the first 2 maybe 3 of these errors, I thought it would just go away or just be a small nuisance. I was dead wrong.
OUT OF MEMORY
It got so bad in the weeks following that first month that it would freeze up and display critical "out of memory" errors every 30 seconds to 2 minutes while I was on a route. What's worse is it would slow WAY down before the error happened so I had to wait until the error happened before it would reboot itself so I could use the 20 or so seconds of directions before it slowed WAY down again until the imminent "out of memory" error reoccurred. Also, I needn't fail to mention that the reboot took a solid 2 minutes before I could get my directions back again.
FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY DRAWBACKS
Besides the short battery life mentioned above and the maps being incomplete (both mentioned above in "Cons" section), another frustration with this unit is that it doesn't support SD cards larger than 4GB? Are you serious, Clarion? Did you design this unit to be used 9 years ago (when SD cards were invented, in 2001)?
What's worse about the memory situation is that, according to a rep at Clarion, the unit doesn't even store maps and other important and functional history on a SD card; it uses the memory that came with the unit which is 2GB. I have to visit clients all over the Seattle area and revisit them, so it would be nice to have a nice long history of all the places I've been without worrying about using up the 2GB.
Oh, by the way, before I even called Clarion I thoroughly went through every function and feature in the settings of the unit to figure out if the "out of memory" was warranted or maybe something I could adjust; and I tried resetting the device along with CLEARING THE MEMORY and of course nothing solved it.
So, buying a SD card (not much of an upgrade though being you can only add 4GB to 2GB) only makes it so you can put pictures and music on your GPS device. It would be much better to be able to use the SD card to store all the other critical mapping things since this is, after all, a GPS unit first and a multimedia player second.
CONCLUSION AND FURTHER NOTES ABOUT CLARION'S AFTER SALE SUPPORT
I didn't even delve into the super short battery life of 15-30 minutes (note also that this battery is only a few months old with minimal use) or talk much about the maps not having updated information. I will add, however, that it was on multiple occasions and not just an isolated experience or two that I got those messages about not finding an address or street (even though in most cases the streets and addresses had been in existence for more than 3 years). I even contacted TeleAtlas, the mapping software company who sold Clarion the software for this unit, and they will not produce updates for this unit. Everyone who buys this unit is apparently stuck with outdated maps indefinitely, and thus plumb out of luck.
Needless to say, I will be buying a unit with NAVTEQ mapping software (which provides free updates for life for many of the GPS units they are on) and will only recommend a unit with TeleAtlas maps if they ever decide to be more helpful to their paying customers.
So, I'm currently waiting through my second 2-week time-frame for my unit to be "fixed" by Clarion. The first time I sent it back I had high hopes that it would come back and work. Again, I was dead wrong. Not only did they not address the other issues I told them about; they didn't even fix the main "out of memory" issue that had rendered this unit usable. This 2nd time, I pleaded with the Clarion rep to replace this obvious lemon with a working unit and he insisted on doing it "by the book" and said that I would be getting the same unit back after they try to "fix" it again.
I can't risk going through yet another 2 weeks without the use of my GPS unit (since I use it everyday for my business), so I officially give up on Clarion and I'm getting a NAVTEQ unit, probably the Garmin Nuvi 265WT if it doesn't do the shutting down thing during inclement weather some people have had issues with. I can't in good conscience resell a lemon on eBay, so I'll probably just trash the Clarion and cut my losses.
Don't necessarily decide not to buy the Clarion EZD580 based on my experiences since it's possible that you could get a unit that doesn't go "out of memory" on ya and works fine for years. You could also have the same experience I did. Kind of a toss up.

Stromberg Carlson EXT-3542 Extend-A-Shower

Buy Stromberg Carlson EXT-3542 Extend-A-Shower Now
We bought this to go into our Travel trailer where space is limited. The extend a shower is a great idea to give a little extra elbow room, also works as a clothing rack to dry wet clothes. Its says it can be cut down to a smaller size which we did just wish it gave you instructions on how. When we measured the space it measured at 32" the bar measured at 35" we actually had to take a total of 4" off but did this at 1" at a time to make it fit. Thank god I have a crafty husband!!! Overall its a good product would recommend.Read Best Reviews of Stromberg Carlson EXT-3542 Extend-A-Shower Here
We recently moved up to a 18' travel trailer from our 20 year old pop-up and one of the features we were looking forward to was a shower and a bathroom. Being a larger guy, I was a bit disappointed in how tight the shower was, especially around the shoulder area as the curtain rubbed right up against me. I thought about getting one of those curved shower bars like in hotels but the ones I found were too long since they were designed for full size showers. A quick check on Amazon in the RV section brought me to the Stromber Carlson Extend-A-Shower. It was only a few bucks more than what I had seen at Home Depot but at least it would fit in the trailer. I was intrigued about the flexible curve as well.Amazon's delivery was as amazing as always (ordered on Sunday afternoon, had it Monday evening) and the installation was very easy with only a screwdriver and pilot drill. No cutting and very solid. The Extend-A-Shower is signficantly better built than the shower rod I took out and the bend in/out feature of the Extend-A-Shower is incredible! While getting all the room I needed in the shower, I also now have a similar amount of extra space in the bathroom since the shower curtain is fully out of the way when not in use. This is a "Run, don't Walk" product to get and every tight bathroom/shower should have one! Thanks again, Amazon!!!This is a must have product! Showers with curtains in campers are almost always really small and you feel cramped in. This product us just great. You have so much more arm room! Also as an added bonus the picture does not really show you is that is extends "into" the shower as well so when not in use you have a lot more arm room in the bathroom when you have shower curtain all the way out like for drying. This is a great product. As soon as we got it installed we bought another one for our other camper.

Schumacher SC-1200A SpeedCharge 12/8/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Starter/Tester

Buy Schumacher SC-1200A SpeedCharge 12/8/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Starter/Tester Now
I was hoping to find the Schumacher model 7000A 2/20 Amp charger to review, but this 1200A is just a variation on the same thing. Looks identical too. After reading bad reviews of Schumacher and Vector it's clear these companies can't do anything right. Seems any product that has a microprocessor is programmed by the incompetent. Let me tell you about Schumacher speed chargers. They won't charge batteries that don't already have a significant charge. If your battery drops below 10 to 11 volts, forget it. You'd have to have a manual battery charger as backup for when this won't charge, which eliminates the need for this thing in the first place. The explanation from the company is that the charger has to feed off the voltage in the battery, blah, blah. The purpose of a battery charger is to charge batteries, period. Then I was lied to by the tech and told if I hold down a certain combination of buttons when plugging the unit in, it would go into manual 2A mode (where the processor doesn't decide it won't charge your battery), but I sat there on the phone with him doing just as he said, and turns out no such feature exists. The manual doesn't mention anything like that either.
The charger is totally unpredictable. It almost always goes into desulfate mode. It has never completed a charge after coming out of desulfate mode, but ends in an error. Needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to start charging again to "completion". However completion doesn't seem to get the battery to 100% power, more like 80%, if that. Sometimes it won't charge at 20A and drops down to 2A. Don't know why. And according to the manual, desulfate mode can take up to 10 hours. So much for speed charge. Need to get into your car and go somewhere? Well you may need to wait until the next day.
It has a retain mode where the charger can sit there and monitor your battery and charge when needed. Figured I'd just leave the thing on my car almost permanently. But those who programmed the thing don't understand setting upper and lower thresholds. What it should do is charge up to the upper threshold, then when the battery drops below the lower, it charges to the upper again. I therefore expected it to turn on once a day or whatever. Instead it's turning on and off every several seconds, with the fan and relay clicking on and off. That's a good way to ware out the unit in no time.
It has a 70A engine start feature just incase you don't have enough juice to quite start your car, but if the battery is low enough where the charger won't charge it, the engine start feature won't work either.
My last car battery was probably only 1.5 years old before it wouldn't even take a charge. I'm beginning to suspect the damn charger might be responsible. When going into desulfate mode for instance, I see the voltage climb up to well over 16 volts. I don't know if that's good for the battery.
The simple act of charging a battery can be turned into a stressful nightmare with this crappy charger. Stay far away from Schumacher. It's clear they can't build a realiable charger, nor does it appear they've actually tried out their own products before dumping them onto the public.Have used this charger for A year to charge my boat batteries. Never completes A cycle without having to un-plug and restart. Charged battery overnite, and found battery was boiling. Had to replace. Bought new model(walmart) and returned old in same box, and still having same problems. My life depends on dependable power offshore. This charger is garbage, going to sell at fleamarket and get real operational charger.

Stay away from this product. The fan on mine quit about a week after I purchased it and now the charger itself has stopped working. Seems it doesn't like cold weather. Bought it at Wally World and they won't take it back.Sunday, April 6, 2014
HQRP Pair MC4 Assembly Disassembly Tool Connector Cable PV Spanners for Solar Panel plus HQRP Coast

2 stars (instead of 1) because at least you really know what you're getting by looking at the picture.I recently purchased a 100W solar panel and connected my MC4 cables. One of the cables I was able to get apart easily but the other I tried everything (needle nose pliers, you name it) and no luck disconnecting the cable. I finally broke down and purchased these tools and they worked like a charm. I would highly recommend if you need to disconnect your MC4 solar cables. These are fairly cheep plastic but they do the job, a must have for mc4 connectors. As one of the other reviewers stated sometimes after you hook a pair of mc4 cables together they are very difficult to seperate, even with regular household tools i couldnt get them apart with out breaking the connector. Since recieving these unhooking mc4 connections is way easier.worthless. Plastic crap that won't even do what you want it to do. Better off with a skinny pair of pliers.MC4 connectors are not always easy to connect or disconnect without a tool. Contrary to what one might expect, sometimes a pair will not lock. Other times it will lock, but neither hands nor pliers can unlock it.
I had the latter problem and was faced with the choice of keeping the MC4's permanently connected (very undesirable in my case), breaking and replacing one connector, or purchasing this tool. This tool worked.
No instructions are provided, but it seems that whichever problem you have, you will figure out how to get the tool to solve it for you.
If you are a do-it-yourselfer and not sure you need this item, you could just wait and find out. If you end up needing it, you'll know.

Belkin 300w DC/AC Inverter

Some people have said it was "loud" but I didn't understand that at all. Yes, there is a quiet "whirring" sound from the fan, but if you're driving down a highway or have the radio on low, you'd never hear the fan.
I think it was a good purchase. Worth the money and I'd recommend it to a friend.I purchased the Belkin AC power converter for my cross country trip from california to virginia. I am half way done with the trip and the power converter has worked extremely well. I am able to work on my laptop while my wife drives and the kids watch their portable dvd player in the back. This was a great purchase and I am also able to save by not having to purchase separate car chargers for my cell phones, they just plug into the power converter.
Buy Belkin 300w DC/AC Inverter Now
This Belkin inverter is much louder than the 140 watt inverter (which is difficult to hear at all). You can easily drowned out the noise with your radio but the pitch was a little too high for me.The 300 watt unit is only a little bigger with a second outlet than the 140 watt inverter. It comes with an automotive type fuse (30 amp) which does seem to be very useful if your car lighter fuse is 10 or 15 amp.I have had this unit for over a year and am very pleased. I use it for my laptop and Direct TV while we travel. I must be getting deaf because I do not notice any loud noise. You have to darn near have your ear close to it just to hear the fan running. This inverter has not given me any problems what so ever. I would have to guess that I have between 250 and 300 hours on this unit using both receptacles at the same time. I like it.Worked great for me on a recent trip to Florida. Only used one of the two outlets to recharge my laptop computer battery. Fast and efficient recharge--way cheaper than buying an extra battery and performed flawlessly. Some reviewers thought it was loud, but I could barely hear any noise at all, just a very low fan noise, which is necessary to cool the inverter. Excellent supplier through Amazon--received fast and in perfect condition. Product does everything it's supposed to.

Sunforce 50022 5-Watt Solar Battery Trickle Charger

Of course, I'm not there 95% of the time so 5 watts is probably adequate. And I don't have to worry about overcharging. I screwed it to a big log in pretty open sun. So far, it has survived, even some small hail.
BTW, I use the power cord from an old vacuum cleaner and a 4-way 12v splitter to distribute power from the battery. In 2006 I took a 3 week vacation out of the country. I left my car at the airport and away I went. Upon my return, I had to have the battery boosted for 15 minutes before it would turn my car's engine on. I have no idea what caused the drain (Sattelite Radio memory, car's other computers, etc), but I had to do something to prevent a $50.00 boost call in the future. A coworker told me about these devices and how his brother uses them to keep his mobile home powered when parked. Higher wattage products are sold, but if all you're doing is keeping a car battery charged, 5 watts is plenty of power for the job. No other devices (charger controllers) are needed. The charger comes with a couple of ways to hook up to the battery (direct battery terminal clips, cigarette lighter plug). I used the cigarette plug. Just plug it in to the power port, and lay the solar energy collector side face up on your dashboard. For those with heavily tinted windshields, I have no idea if the tint would cause a problem with the panel's energy collection.
This year, after returning from another 3 week trip (and using the solar charger), my battery started better than it did before my trip to the airport!

I recently ordered one of these panels (June 2007). The first one arrived shattered the manufacturer packaging does not protect the panel much and it was inadequately packaged in the shipping box by Amazon. The replacement unit was also badly packaged for shipment.I tested the electrical output in full sunlight and got 20V out into a 100 ohm load -> 4 watts which is pretty good.
One thing to consider though is that this product is not very rugged. The solar panel has a plastic frame but the middle is unprotected on the back (and front). So unless you handle it very carefully it is likely to break.
Someone using this on a car dashboard would need some sort of protective carrier (like those insulated pizza boxes) to protect the unit when it was not being used.
-----------Update Dec 2007 ----------------
Panel stopped producing electricity in November. Had to send it in to Sunforce at my expense for warrantee replacement. They promptly tested it and sent me a replacement. One thing I did notice is that the plastic housing on the unit that I returned had developed some small cracks. I am using the unit on my car dashboard to keep my battery charged.
-----------Update Jan 2013 ----------------
The frame around the panel has warped and cracked. As a result the panel no longer reliably charges my battery. This product isn't really engineered for reliable operation on car dashboards the plastic / frame cannot deal with the extreme temperature changes over time.

I took this on my one month trip to the Colorado mountains and used it daily. It kept my batteries charged that I use to run my pop up, and they never did run down. After 10 days of using one I switched to another battery just because I wanted to, but the one I was using was still working fine. I wasn't using a lot of power, but at the same rate of use I've never gotten more than four days out of charged battery before without a solar charger. This works very well at a great price. I got it soaked several times with no problem. I'd recommend it highly.Want Sunforce 50022 5-Watt Solar Battery Trickle Charger Discount?
This unit has consistently performed _better_ than it is rated for. It routinely generates over 140% the rated voltage and even generates the Rated Voltage on overcast days. A *streetlight* at night caused it to generate a measurable voltage (~50% rated, as I recall). Also, it is weather/hailstone resistant. I am very pleased with the performance of this item.Sunday, February 9, 2014

Much cheaper than factory replacement. The only issue I had were the terminals were slightly smaller than the one that came from the factory installed in the ION amplifier. Scala Rider Car Charger For FM & Q2 Headsets

I have been riding for over 40 years and this is the best
thing I have bought for a bike.
