I purchased this stereo because I wanted a car stereo with Bluetooth, a little extra power, better sound quality, and flash drive support. I'm happy to say that this stereo performs all these functions well.

Installing the stereo is just like installing any other stereo, except for installing the microphone. The best spot for the microphone is probably the A pillar (at the top). It sounds complicated, but the microphone took about 15 min. to install. I ran the cable down through the rubber seal on the side of the door, but how you mount the microphone depends on your car.

The Bluetooth works very well. What I start up the car, the radio automatically connects to my phone. Music through Bluetooth sounds pretty good, although it can be a little fizzy. Call quality is great; everyone can hear me well (they can even hear the person in the passenger seat), and everything sounds right. If you are on the phone as your car is starting up, it will automatically transfer your call to the stereo, which is extremely convenient, especially if you're in a hurry. Answering calls is simple, and incoming calls will mute the radio.

The removable faceplate is also an important feature for me. Car break-ins happen in my neighborhood, so this is very necessary. The radio without the faceplate has a flashing red light to symbolize a car alarm, which is nice.

Music sounds pretty good. Definitely not audiophile quality, but it sounds much better than a stock radio. Percussion sounds clear, and everything sounds right. It can also go pretty loud without distorting. None of the frequencies are exaggerated or lacking, and it sounds neutral for the most part.

However, this radio has some minor annoyances. The faceplate feels rather cheap, and you really need to read the manual to know how to do simple things, like setting the time. It would have also been nice if the full dial pad was on the faceplate. The included remote does have a full dial pad, and while the remote does work well, it would be much simpler to just have the dial pad on the faceplate.

Overall, this is an excellent stereo with a lot of features. For the price, the disadvantages can be overlooked.

So I primarily bought this for the bluetooth function because i hate earbuds and i tried a visor clip speaker that just didn't get loud enough, especially on the highway.

I bought this so that i could use the power of my stereo to hear my calls better.

KaChing! I could turn the volume up as much as i desired for each road condition and hear my calls perfectly. I took time to ask everyone how well they could hear me, and they all had good reports, no echos or hearing problems to speak of.

Connectivity was very easy and my phone auto connects every time i turn the car on automatically, no batteries to worry about.

I hooked up my ipod, and it worked great as well as charged while driving with the included cable. very nice.

Raido tuning was very good. Cd player very good.

The interface is very user intuitive, you don't feel like you need to read the manual, you just use it, which i like.

and for the price? $69.99 with free shipping, this was a no brainer. The quality is there.

UPDATE: 2/26/12

Still loving this Stereo. While I used to use my blackberry to sync, I've recently upgraded to iPhone. I now can stream Pandora Internet radio to the stereo using the bluetooth channel. Very cool. Or use a program called TuneIn to listen to live radio broadcast across the country, again just streaming via the bluetooth channel. Setting up bluetooth calling on my iPhone was easy as 1234 (literally, that's the pairing code).

Everything has continued to work excellently.

UPDATE: 8/9/12

Still love it. Bought a second one for my wife's van. Been using the iphone port a lot lately for audio books and it performs flawlessly. automatically picks up where you left off when you plug it in. What a value.

I purchased this Dual receiver because I wanted my phone to connect via bluetooth. Previously, I was using the aux/line in connector to connect my phone up to play audio and receive calls. The problem with this is that if you decided to switch the recevier over to CD or radio, any calls you receive on the phone go to... nowhere. With the bluetooth functionality, any incoming call mutes the other audio and plays the call over the speaker. I have tested this part of it, and it works well.

One caveat: the included microphone has a clip that doesn't seem to clip to anything. I tried it all over the car: rearview mirror, air vents, plastic trim, nothing. I did finally get it to clip onto one of the air vents, but every time I touch it, it pops off. I will end up using a piece of double sided tape or velcro to fix this. I also tried it in my wife's car, a Ford Escape, with similar issues. Maybe they expect you to clip it onto your shirt as you drive?

For Smart Car owners, see below:

---

NOTE: I bought several products for the same upgrade, so I'm posting the same review with links on each product.

I was replacing the double-din factory radio in my Smart 451 Fortwo and this harness made it very easy. The individual wires are labelled by function (ie, left front speaker postive). I had purchased a Dual XDMA6415 receiver with bluetooth built in and the included wiring harness matched up color for color with this Metra harness. I also bought the Scosche DIN With Pocket adapter, which made it very easy to install the radio.

This was my first time installing an aftermarket stereo. The wires were pre-cut so you can pull the insulation off. You can either use crimp connectors or simply twist the wires around each (splice) and use electrical tape. With the Schosche pocket and the Metra harness, you can assemble the entire thing outside the car. Once the car's harness just clicks into the Metra harness and everything slides into place.

One thing I did not get was an adapter for the antenna. The antenna connector in the car is a flat adapter, whereas most aftermarket stereos have a 1" pin. Be sure to pick one up. It took some searching to find out that the adapter I need is a 40-VW10. I have mine on order, so hopefully it will work. (UPDATE: yes, it works)

UPDATE (6/30/2012): After a year, the radio is still going strong with no issues.

I ended up getting some tik-tak (sticky silly-putty like thing) to hold the microphone onto my steering wheel column. I used nail polish to "paint" it black and it blends in perfectly. It looks like the microphone is molded onto the column.

I do not like the combination button to mute or hang up the phone. By pressing this button, you could either a) mute the conversation, or b) disconnect the conversation. Similarly, the place call button is also the pairing button.

A stereo has died in my 10 year old car and I've started looking for replacement.

This unit fit the bill perfectly. Although, I never heard about Dual brand, little i-net search revealed that it is quite sound; not a no-name Chinese garage built.

This unit is very feature rich and, as far as I can tell, so far all of them work. Can't comment on iPod interface, as I use any/everything but iCrap.

Bluetooth works like a charm picks up my phone when I start the car and stay connected. I placed a microphone behind the steering wheel. People can hear me well (better than a headset I used before, and I can hear them perfectly through the speakers. Bluetooth music streaming (from the phone) works decently as well.

USB port (a #1 selling point for me) works very fast and well.

Disks play good.

I'd say that the interface could be a bit more streamlined, but for the price, it's too much to ask.

Display is a bit smaller than on most of modern units, but it has all the information. And no distractive flashing things. Anyway, when you're driving, last thing you want is to stare at your stereo.

Overall sound quality is better than that of my previous Kenwood.

I bought this Dual XDMA6415 less than three months ago. At first it worked fine but even after the first couple weeks, I started noticing problems. It became fuzzy sounding and the bluetooth stopped connecting. My iPod stopped charging and I replaced the chord twice with no results. After checking the wiring and the device, there is no connection problems. Now the radio does not function at all, nor does anything else for that matter.

I emailed the company about the 1 year limited warranty and after three weeks, never received a response. I called the contact number listed and I can never speak with an actual person. I am really disappointed with amazon, because they should not be selling a product with such a sketchy service warranty. I guess you get what you pay for. I should have spent the extra cash instead of wasting it down the drain with this piece of crap.

I appreciate the thought behind the charger design.

They obviously made an effort to put the consumer first other than their bank account.

It's so inexpensive and among all things...practical.

I will recommend the charger...personally, it's more correctly designed and in turn, more beneficial.

The stock battery in my droid still holds charge well, so I have not found the need for the extra charging slot yet, but I guess it is a nice feature to have in case.

The price was right on this charger. Works like it should, charges well.

Black 2-Port USB Home Travel Charger for Creative Zen X-Fi, Zen Mozaic, Zen Stone Plus, Zen Stone, Zen Vision:M, Zen Vision W, Zen Vision, Zen V Plus, Zen V, Zen MicroPhoto, Zen Micro By GTMax
  • Best replacement for original MP3 player travel charger.
  • Intelligent IC chip inside recognizes a fully charged battery and automatically switches to a saver mode to prevent overcharging and short circuit.

While this product seemed like a great alternative to Zen's much higher-priced optional charger, it did not work properly once it arrived. Bargaincell processed and shipped the order very promptly, and it arrived within several days. Intended use was for a Creative Zen X-Fi 32GB player. Unfortunately, while the red LED light displays on the charger when plugged in, output voltage at its USB ports was not enough to put the player into charge mode, making the product useless for its intended purpose. Although offers a reasonably-sounding return policy, the total shipping charges for delivery and return exceed the unit's low purchase price by a large enough margin that the cheaper alternative ended up to just discard it and buy Zen's name-brand optional charger after all.

PulseTech PP-12-L 12-Volt PowerPulse Battery Conditioner

PulseTech PP-12-L 12-Volt PowerPulse Battery ConditionerI've had extensive experience with PulseTech products through the military. This particular item is ideal for vehicles/batteries in pretty much daily use, but is not for batteries that sit extended periods without charging. I put on my 97 Ford Explorer last year so I wouldn't have to periodically hook up my PulseTech Extreme 100X822 charger. I installed the PulseTech Solarpulse 2 watt on my 09 Silverado since it was not my daily commuter vehicle. My first PulseTech solargizer I installed on 90 Toyota with new 48 month battery in 2003. Same battery was still testing 75% with their MBT1 tester in 2011. I could park it for a week in below zero temps at the airport and it always had plenty of juice to crank when I got back. I recovered the solargizer when truck was totaled and put it on my lawn tractor, still going strong. When coupled with proper maintenance of battery terminals and fluid levels, my experience is you will get return on your PulseTech investment with one battery. For me, I know and trust PulseTech so I don't even consider other brands.

This is in the mid range as far as battery conditioner prices. This product is designed to desulfate your batteries which is crucial when it comes to battery life. Works on all types of batteries. I have 3 solar generators built, all using AGM. I rotate the power pulse on all 3. I cut the ring terminals off and use alligator clips instead. During a month's period each generator has a one week dose of the power pulse. Does it work, yes. I first tested it on an old car battery. Could only charge it to 12,5. Put the power pulse on it for 3 days with a small trickle charge and the old famous saying of "It's Alive" rang true. The battery now takes a full charge and is reliable....

Awesome.hooked to weak batteries to a 144watt solar panel with a charge controller and this pulse conditioner and it brought them both back to full capacity. Something interesting is whether power in or going out of battery it gets pulsed just as long as your using it

Black USB Car Charger for AT&T Apple iPhone 3G S

Black USB Car Charger for AT&T Apple iPhone 3G Ssometimes you feel good knowing you got something online super cheap and useful. After buying this product, that lasted for me for about 2 months before the charger just split into two. see the line in the plastic that divides the charger into two at the USB slot on the picture? it just came apart and exposed all the wiring. Yeah, it's only a couple bucks but it'l break down on you fast. Then you have to get back online, order, pay, and wait for shipping all over again. If you don't want to go through the hassle just spend a couple more bucks to buy a quality item. It'll be worth the investment.

Item works perfectly. While the construction certainly isn't the most solid, it's an incredible deal and I verify that it works great to charge my iPhone 3GS in the car.

This USB car charger is excellent for its price. if you've read about others breaking in half, its because they didt take care of them. For this item you cant just throw it somewhere and leave it there. You really have to keep it in a safe spot. The glove compartment would be good place. This product works really good. It charges my Ipod touch as soon as its plugged in. And no message that "This charger is not recommended" or whatever it says. It works perfectly

I bought this in 2011. When I tried to charge my device via USB no light came on and no charge was delivered. However, I assumed mistakenly that the device and this charger were just incompatible. Later on I bought a difference brand USB car charger from another seller, just to try it, and it worked! I should have thought of checking this sooner.

Want Black USB Car Charger for AT&T Apple iPhone 3G S Discount?

As soon as I took this charger out of the bag it arrived in, it fell apart. Very poor construction. On the end that plugs into the car there is a metal tip and two plastic rings that are supposed to retain the metal tip. These rings just fell off and the small metal tip shot across the room when I pulled it out of the bag (the metal tip has a spring behind it to make sure it makes good electrical contact when plugged in). My recommendation don't buy it spend a few extra dollars to get someting that has at a least a little bit of quality to it and lasts more than 1 minute.

Clarion EZ58TMCPK Bluetooth Interface with NAVRDS

Clarion EZ58TMCPK Bluetooth Interface with NAVRDS
  • Easy-to-use navigation unit with 4.3" TFT Touch Screen display and rechargeable battery
  • Simple destination input, turn-by-turn voice prompts, text-to-speech operation and selectable route guidance with 12 million Points of Interest preloaded
  • Built-in Bluetooth Hands-free (HFP) and Audio Streaming (A2DP & AVRCP) support
  • Play back MP3/WMA files and view JPEG/BMP images from SD/MMC cards up to 4GB
  • One-year limited warranty

I picked up one of these EZD580s about a week ago. In the box are the unit, car-mounting hardware, a USB-to-mini USB cable and some instructions sheets. I would think that it will be great and A-OK because it seems to work well. It came out of the box with the battery at 81% charged. But this is where I get stuck. It comes with a directions sheet for mounting the unit in your car, and a Quick Start guide for routing and street directions. But nothing in any of the included reference material tells one how long to charge, or recharge, the battery, or if there is an AC Charger available for this unit. I konw that the USB-to-mini USB cable is for charging the unit on your computer, but how long do you charge it? On the Clarion website, there is a "Product Manual" available for download. I downloaded and printed the "Product Manual" and guess what in the entire 71 pages, there is not one word regarding the charging and recharging of the battery, and also nothing about an AC Cahrger. The Product Manual does go into precise detail on how to select route guidance and street directions, the device's settings, etc. But nothing on step number 1 charging the battery! The battery charging issue aside, though, this is a real good unit. It has a big screen with easy to read text and numbers. You can use the included stylus or use your fingers to access the various menu items. When I initially turned it on, it took about a minute or two (which is normal for GPS devices) to locate the GPS signal. Once it locked in on the signal, it was easy rollin'. Entering your destinations, referencing the Points Of Interest, etc., are fairly intuitive, making this GPS unit fairly easy to use without getting an advanced scientific degree. On the negative side, support from Clarion is absolutely NON-EXISTANT. Calling the telephone numbers on the Clarion website results in a literal circle of recorded messages.

FYI, I operated this unit in Seattle, Washington and some in L.A.

Well I decided to be nice and give this unit a review of 2 Stars (I don't like it) when I was tempted to give it a 1 Star (I hate it) due to it's complete uselessness after about a month. After a while, this unit proved itself to be a lemon and completely worthless for getting anywhere (detailed explanation below). It worked fine for a month and I was excited that I had gotten a winning product.

Then the "out of memory" errors started. After about the first 2 maybe 3 of these errors, I thought it would just go away or just be a small nuisance. I was dead wrong.

OUT OF MEMORY

It got so bad in the weeks following that first month that it would freeze up and display critical "out of memory" errors every 30 seconds to 2 minutes while I was on a route. What's worse is it would slow WAY down before the error happened so I had to wait until the error happened before it would reboot itself so I could use the 20 or so seconds of directions before it slowed WAY down again until the imminent "out of memory" error reoccurred. Also, I needn't fail to mention that the reboot took a solid 2 minutes before I could get my directions back again.

FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY DRAWBACKS

Besides the short battery life mentioned above and the maps being incomplete (both mentioned above in "Cons" section), another frustration with this unit is that it doesn't support SD cards larger than 4GB? Are you serious, Clarion? Did you design this unit to be used 9 years ago (when SD cards were invented, in 2001)?

What's worse about the memory situation is that, according to a rep at Clarion, the unit doesn't even store maps and other important and functional history on a SD card; it uses the memory that came with the unit which is 2GB. I have to visit clients all over the Seattle area and revisit them, so it would be nice to have a nice long history of all the places I've been without worrying about using up the 2GB.

Oh, by the way, before I even called Clarion I thoroughly went through every function and feature in the settings of the unit to figure out if the "out of memory" was warranted or maybe something I could adjust; and I tried resetting the device along with CLEARING THE MEMORY and of course nothing solved it.

So, buying a SD card (not much of an upgrade though being you can only add 4GB to 2GB) only makes it so you can put pictures and music on your GPS device. It would be much better to be able to use the SD card to store all the other critical mapping things since this is, after all, a GPS unit first and a multimedia player second.

CONCLUSION AND FURTHER NOTES ABOUT CLARION'S AFTER SALE SUPPORT

I didn't even delve into the super short battery life of 15-30 minutes (note also that this battery is only a few months old with minimal use) or talk much about the maps not having updated information. I will add, however, that it was on multiple occasions and not just an isolated experience or two that I got those messages about not finding an address or street (even though in most cases the streets and addresses had been in existence for more than 3 years). I even contacted TeleAtlas, the mapping software company who sold Clarion the software for this unit, and they will not produce updates for this unit. Everyone who buys this unit is apparently stuck with outdated maps indefinitely, and thus plumb out of luck.

Needless to say, I will be buying a unit with NAVTEQ mapping software (which provides free updates for life for many of the GPS units they are on) and will only recommend a unit with TeleAtlas maps if they ever decide to be more helpful to their paying customers.

So, I'm currently waiting through my second 2-week time-frame for my unit to be "fixed" by Clarion. The first time I sent it back I had high hopes that it would come back and work. Again, I was dead wrong. Not only did they not address the other issues I told them about; they didn't even fix the main "out of memory" issue that had rendered this unit usable. This 2nd time, I pleaded with the Clarion rep to replace this obvious lemon with a working unit and he insisted on doing it "by the book" and said that I would be getting the same unit back after they try to "fix" it again.

I can't risk going through yet another 2 weeks without the use of my GPS unit (since I use it everyday for my business), so I officially give up on Clarion and I'm getting a NAVTEQ unit, probably the Garmin Nuvi 265WT if it doesn't do the shutting down thing during inclement weather some people have had issues with. I can't in good conscience resell a lemon on eBay, so I'll probably just trash the Clarion and cut my losses.

Don't necessarily decide not to buy the Clarion EZD580 based on my experiences since it's possible that you could get a unit that doesn't go "out of memory" on ya and works fine for years. You could also have the same experience I did. Kind of a toss up.

Battery Tender 021-0133 12V 5-Bank Commercial Battery Management System

Battery Tender 021-0133 12V 5-Bank Commercial Battery Management SystemI purchased this unit from Amazon. After using this on various cars and motorcycles, leads started to go intermittent on me. Only by jiggling them on the contact points on the tender would they make contact. Now only 2 of the 5 banks work. I took the unit apart and found that the nylon snap contacts for the leads are soldered directly to the master board with 2 delicate solder points. As the user connects and disconnects the leads, the nylon connectors snap together. Very flimsy way of making contact for a point that sees repeated usage. Absolutely no stress relief for the solder points. Poor design for reliability. It would cost a bunch to repair, then after use, would fail again. They should have placed a flexible intermediate lead to the disconnect points. Buy the individual units instead. This is NOT commercial quality by any stretch of the imagination.

This tender is just as adv. Ihooked up 4 batteries and within 12 hrs. all the batteries were in storage mode.

Zune Car Charger

Zune Car Charger
  • Handy car charger for Microsoft Zune media player
  • Lets you charge and power Zune while you drive
  • Also works seamlessly with Zune FM transmitter
  • Plugs into any vehicle's 12-volt cigarette lighter
  • Coiled cable curls up for easy storage; 1-year warranty

There's really not much to review but I figured I would counter the other (misguided) review on this item. The charger works just as fine for powering the Zune while in the car. I pretty much leave my Zune in the car and this lets me do that without having to periodically bring it inside for charging. The part that goes into the cigarette lighter is rather large so take that into account if you have any kind of obstructions around your power socket. The only other thing I noticed that surprized me a little was that the Zune display stays on when connected to the charger and playing music. There's nothing really wrong with that but I was just expecting the screen to go dark like it does when it is not connected to power. Oh, I also like the coiled cord which makes things a bit tidier than having a lot of loose cable cluttering up the console area. I recommend this product.

Had mine for 8 months. Little button on side of Zune connector either broke or fell off. This locks the connector into the unit until you use a pointed object to push in on the locking pin while pushing "button" on other side of connector. Trick is to not stab yourself when connector lets go.

Noise is probably dependent on vehicles electrical system. I get some low level noise in my '09 Toyota, but not in my Dodge.

I'm going to buy another, because it does work well.

A little pricy for a charger and bulkier than I prefer but it does exactly what it is suppose to do with no problems and thats really all I ask for something liek this.

Can't say much about this, other than it works great! Doesn't get hot and it charges my Zune very quickly. I use it for both of my devices; the Zune 30gb (brick) and my Zune HD. It's OEM so you know you're getting the legit and I've never had any issues since the day I got it.

UNIVERSAL POWER UB1270 12V 7AMP HOUR BATTERY

UNIVERSAL POWER UB1270 12V 7AMP HOUR BATTERYOriginal Message: Battery is incapable of holding a charge greater than 6 volts after a few months. Originally I thought maybe my transformer was bad, so I bought a new one however, I still have the same problem with the battery maintaining a charge. The battery is being used for an alarm system backup with no draw, but have a low voltage warning showing up constantly. Finally, after purchasing a digital multimeter I have been able to monitor the system and battery. The battery is the problem. My last battery lasted 5 years, this one didn't make it 5 months. Maybe I just got a defective unit.

Update. The seller was great in taking back the defective unit and provided a replacement that has been great so far.

Works perfectly! Not a common item to find, used to replace old battery on alarm and light system. This replacement came quickly and has worked great since installation!

I have had several battery backup units for more sensitive electrical devices (computer, TV, stereo). The batteries in them last for several years and then quit. I hate thinking about buying new units when the old ones are fine. I have bought about five different sized batteries here and they work wonderfully, fit perfectly, do everything I need. Be sure to order one with the correct posts/electodes/hookups. I feel so smart after finding these on Amazon. Thank you for providing such a wonderful value and convenience.

RCA USBNLTR Night Glow USB Home/Travel Charger

RCA USBNLTR Night Glow USB Home/Travel Charger
  • Perfect for home and travel (protective travel cap included)
  • Soft blue glow nightlight
  • 5V, 1 Amp USB outlet for charging smartphones and other portable devices
  • Amber indicator ring lights up when device is charging
  • Works with Android; compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod

I got the RCA USB Charger with night light because I thought it would be handy when traveling and allow me to cut down on some power cords. It works well but I didn't realize it was just 110V/60HZ so it's not very useful for international travel. Other than that, it is pretty basic. The light functions well and is just bright enough to help you make out things in a dark hotel room but not bright enough to be distracting. Decent product overall but not for the international traveler.

As USB chargeable items become more and more commonplace it's only natural for AC outlet adaptors to be more necessary. Since you can't always be near or tied to a computer with your portable devices, this is where gadgets like this one come in handy. With all of the portable devices we have around our house (cellphones, tablets, media players, hand-held gaming devices etc.) we can never have enough USB outlet chargers handy. Here are my thoughts on the Rca Usbnltr Usb Charger With Night Glow;

Pros

+ Portable and excellent for travel.

+ Acts as a nightlight and also has a charge light indicator. The light gives off a nice soft and warm glow and is an LED.

+ 1 year warranty.

Cons

No On/Off switch. There's also no light sensor to turn off the light when it's bright enough to see.

A little larger than it probably needs to be.

Not a good charger to have next to your bedside because of the light.

Only one USB port.

Cap/cover is snap on. A simple thread/screw on cap would have been much better.

All in all, the Rca Usbnltr Usb Charger With Night Glow is a useful little device to have around. Its small size and night light function make it perfect for travel and people on-the-go. It's also cheaper to buy a charging device like this rather than spend more money buying a specific all-in-one adaptor cable. While not perfect in its design this charger is an affordable alternative to charging all of your portable USB devices.

This was a great product that will make it so much easier for you to be able to charge your electronics. I know for me there are more and more items that I have that are able to be charged via USB and when I travel it becomes something of a pain to always have to bring multiple cables. This allows me to travel much lighter and as long as where I am going is based on a 110V outlet this can really help. I will warn and say that this is not set to work in a 220V so please keep that in mind. The product also does give you a night light to use in a room where you need it which is a nice plus! All-in-all, this product works well and provides an easy charge for your electronics!

I love the soft glow the light produces and just perfect as a night light for the bathroom. You have to provide your own cable, which is no big deal since now I have several of the apple Lightening cables for my new iPhone 5 and it works just fine.

My only criticism is that it is more than double the size of the conventional apple charger, so if you're tight on space it may not be all that great for travel. Marked down 1 Amazon star rating for this reason. Other than that it works great and I love the beautiful turquoise glow.

This is handy for a lot of reasons.

1. It works with every cord that has a USB outlet. There go all the "do I have this" and "do I have that" questions I always ask (or forget to ask, as the case may be) before I travel and pack cords.

2. It glows all night long! When I'm in an unfamiliar place, how handy! And lately, it's a huge help in the kitchen, too.

It also has a little cap that goes over the plug-in prongs, so it fits nicely in your bag or purse without the prongs getting muddled into everything.

Uni-Solar PVL-68 PowerBond PVL 68 Watt 12 Volt 112-Inch x 15.5-Inch Flexible Solar Panel

Uni-Solar PVL-68 PowerBond PVL 68 Watt 12 Volt 112-Inch x 15.5-Inch Flexible Solar PanelI have two 68W panels on the roof of my 31' RV that connected to a Morning-star Sun saver duo solar controller that charge my House(camper)Battery and the Engine battery at the same time. So far after 9 months they are doing great. Install was a little tricky with running the wires from the roof (used the fridge vent) so I did not drill any holes and I stuck them right on the campers TPO style roof after cleaning it real good. As I said I'm very pleased with the battery charging power these panels produce. I do allot of beach RV camping and so far they have been keeping my batteries charged. "I would however shop around on the internet before you buy because you will most likely find them cheaper if you do your homework."

i can't say enough positive things about the 68 watt Unisolar flexible PV panel i purchased. it's very consistent in the amount of electricity it produces. overcast skies will reduce the flow, but it doesn't stop. not at all like crystalline PV panels. the least little bit of shading, or cloudy skies, and they stop working. at least this has been my experience so far, and i have done lots of experimenting searching for the perfect "thing."

the CIGS technology is my favorite, but like that, this is also amorphous thin-film. the efficiency rating is slightly less than with crystalline silicon, but who cares about a few percentage points. so less material is needed to produce the panels in this way.

another awesome detail: free voltage from the Sun. well, not 100% free of course, you DO have to purchase the equipment, but once you've spent the money, anything it produces is YOURS. this solar panel along with a 20-amp charge controller (from morningstar), and a 12 volt, 20-aH battery, i am able to store the Sun's energy to be used any way i like. right now i'm using it to charge small electronics and my laptop (using a small 400 watt AC inverter). the limitations in my system are 2-fold: the battery bank needs more amp-hours, and the array needs at least another identical Unisolar 68 watt do-gooder... which means i'm still figuring out what's going to work the best for me, but so far, i'm very pleased with the results.

the phrase, bigger is better is often not true. unless you're talking about piles of money (bigger IS better), or telescope aperture, and photovoltaic wattage. the larger the wattage the more "work" it can do. individually this is a nice little semi-portable (car camping only, no hiking in with this baby) panel... but in a group of two or more i can see how it would really kick ass... can't wait to add another to my array. thank you.

I've had two panels on my 27' Itasca, for about 2 years now, without a problem of any kind. I highly recommend these panels for RV use due to several factors:

they mount by adhesive, securely and easily

they are very shade-tolerant, producing well even when partially in shadow

they are very angle-tolerant, producing almost 50% of capacity even in low sun-angle situations

they produce at 90% even when dusty/dirty

they are very hardy, you can even walk on them

they have virtually no vertical profile, sticking up only about 1/4"

they are totally wind-proof

you never have to adjust or aim them

Absolutely outstanding product.

(Note that the (rare) bad review had to do with rolling the panel up every day. I don't think they're meant to be rolled up repeatedly, since they are designed for permanent roof-top installation. I would not recommend them for portable, roll-up-and-store usage.)

used with my RV to keep the battery charged. Found it did extend battery time in the day time my several hours until I had to start up the generator. Looking to get another one soon.

I did mount it on a flat board to allow reposition as the sun angle changes.

I bought just one panel and it works great... even with overcast sky today I measured over 50 watts out... no worry about hurting my back like my other panels with glass and metal frames... they are heavy and awkward to move... this is bigger but is lighter and easy to drag/slide around... now worry about broken glass... I like it.

Battery Remote Terminal Jumper Posts

Battery Remote Terminal Jumper Poststhey were much bigger than i expected, however i'm sure there was a way to know that if you read the description, the product is quality, heavy solid brass, the rubber covers are great, i thought they would be a brittle plastic that would break quickly and easily, but it really is a rubberized plastic that seems like it will last a long time through many uses. my order got to me three days before it was said to arrive (that's always an awesome surprise!) i'd buy from these guys again any day.

USB Data Sync & Charge Cable For Apple iPod Shuffle (3rd generation)

USB Data Sync & Charge Cable For Apple iPod ShuffleI bought two at this price and it would have been great if even one of them would have worked. When I called to tell them of the problem they said that they did not have anything that works on the 3rd generation.

These cables are so small that I misplaced mine, and since I only use the shuffle on rare occasions I was not about to go to the Apple store and buy a replacement. There were a small handful of products listed at the Amazon store but customer feedback said those limited number of products didn't work.

I took a chance and selected an external website called "The CellPhoneShop" Because the product was listed for only $2.99 (it cost more to ship $4.99 than to buy) I gave it a shot. Mail delivery was slow -about 2 weeks. But the product works as advertised. It syncs and charges the shuffle.
