Though this is a wonderful mattress made from durable, non-stretch material, the fact that it is only possible to fill it from a fully charged Ni-Cad battery is a serious design flaw which needs to be addressed, in my opinion. I've had the mattress for about a year and inflate it for frequent guests and to put in our tent for camping. I love it in theory. The mattress itself is rugged and comfortable and in the beginning inflated quickly. Unfortunately, the fact that a Ni-Cad battery has "memory," coupled with the fact that one cannot simply plug this unit in if the battery is low, means that the battery will not maintain a full charge anymore. It would be helped by two things: 1) The battery inside the blower could be upgraded to a lithium cell, which is not adversely affected by partial charges. 2) The electric blower motor could be modified to allow the transformer to plug in when filling (in the event of a dead battery). It is easy to let the air out of a mattress, but I have been frustrated on more than one occasion when the battery had been in the bag too long and wouldn't fill the mattress. Then we had to either plug in the blower until it charged (hours) or get light headed blowing the mattress up manually. If this gets fixed, I'll buy the nest iteration or the upgraded blower.

I bought this air bed because I was going to a weekend trip to my grandparent's campgrounds. The air bed came quickly and I didn't open it until I got to the campgrounds. Boy, that was a mistake. The batteries had to be charged for at least an hour before I could get enough juice to pump up the air bed. That was my only complaint, but that was kind of my fault for not trying it out before I go somewhere that doesn't have easy to access electrical outlets. I should've brought a car AC adapter. But overall great air bed for camping or sleepovers.

Received this item the other day, and based on previous reviews immediately plugged the charger in overnight. The next day checked both inflation and deflation and everything worked fine. It was very quick and simple. Then I refilled the mattress and left it up a couple of days and it lost no air at all and indeed is very comfortable. I really like how it folds up into the attached bag very easily. Will now take it camping for a few days and am looking forward to the comfort I experienced here at home. Any problems and I will add them to this review, but I really feel that I have purchased an excellent product, well worth the extra money for both the durability, comfort, and ease of use.

I ordered 2 of the twin size and 2 of the queen size for family camp outs. I have purchased others, even expensive ones and have been disappointed. These air beds are simply wonderful.... you just charge the pump, when ready, insert pump with end marked inflate and in seconds your bed is ready....when ready to deflate, just reverse process... bed deflates in seconds. flat enough to put right back into the carrying case it came in.

Wonderful firm bed ready in seconds... my grandsons use theirs also for Friday movie night sleepover in the living room and they hold up beautifully!

Bought this to replace a older starting unit from Home Depot that didn't have enough power to turn over the car. Batteries are heavy and you can tell right away that there is a substantial battery inside this unit because it it heavy. This unit was the most powerful I could find and on my first use as soon as I hooked it up the whole car came alive with radio, AC blower and everything else that was on when the car was last turned off. The motor turned over as quickly as a normal start. The cables are long enough to leave the unit on the ground and reach the battery and very flexible making them easy to maneuver. The ATD 5928 is built to stand the wear and tear from constant use. It is charged using a charger that has a 120vac to 12vdc transformer on one end and a cigarette lighter plug on the other end. It is not a typical set up. When I tried to find a replacement cable, the company had no idea where to specifically find the part. They don't support the product, the consumer needs to search on their own and/or design there own replacement part. For a product that sells for somewhere between $90 and $199, depending on where you look and how much the shipping will cost, that seems like a very problematic philosophy for running a company. You either provide parts support, make the parts standard off of someone's shelf, or you send two sets of the parts most likely to fail.

Schumacher SP3 Automatic Battery Extender / Maintainer

I purchased one of these to charge some sealed lead acid batteries, and it works like a champ. Hook it up to the battery, plug it in and let it do its thing.

That being said, there are a couple of quirks the user should be aware of. The % capacity display is not at all accurate. It will typically state that a battery is 95% full, then increase slowly until saying it is fully charged, and on maintaining. I used this with several 9Ah 12V batteries, and some 8.5Ah 6V batteries. All of these were tested before & after with a BK Precision 601 professional battery analyzer. The readings never agreed, but that is not necessarily a problem.

While the $400+ BK 601 is a great tool, it is not necessary to know the precise values of capacity, load and no-load voltage or internal resistance (unless you want to know these things of course!) If you are maintaining SLA batteries of a smaller capacity, say anywhere from 3 to 20Ah or so, just hook up the Schumacher and ignore the initial reading. If it says 95%, the capacity might be 80% or might be 45% (I saw readings higher and lower on the 601) No matter. Let the Schumacher charge until it says 'Fully Charged' or 'battery maintaining'. But do not stop charging just yet. At that point, the actual capacity might only be at 95 or 97% (as verified by the 601). Let it go another 15 minutes or half an hour. Then go ahead and disconnect. By that time, nearly all the batteries I tested were at the full 100% according to the BK 601.

If the battery is too far gone, the Schumacher will let you know. There are a few batteries here and there that will accept a charge from the Schumacher, but may not perform as well as new batteries. Outside of a professional analyzer, there is not much you can do about them. They will work, but may only have 90% or so of the charge. The Schumacher does as best as it can with them.

It also oworked well at auto-detecting 6V batteries. Very simple to use, and for easy operation and good performance, and a great price, I give it 5 stars. Just be aware of its limitations.

After receiving this gadget, I realize that I probably could have used the smaller SP2 unit, but now that I've had it a few weeks, I'm quite pleased with how it works.

It is pretty large, but still only about a quarter the sise of a car charger. It's roughly the size of a brick, and has a big LED readout that tells you what it's doing readable from a good distance.

So far, I've only used the alligator clips for my motorcycle battery, but this also comes with a connector that you can attach permanently to the battery and has a simple connector to the charger cord. That means you don't have to remove the seat to hook up the charger. That seems pretty useful, and if I ever decide to unhook my battery and risk losing all the settings on my stereo, I'll install it.

I think something like this is essential in places that have a proper winter that keeps you from riding for weeks at a time.

I love his little charger. I had been using old technology that only displays amperage. This charger shows you voltage and percentage of charge. Automatically selects battery voltage and type. Maintains battery at correct voltage and current to keep it float charged and avoid overcharging and damage. It's a keeper! Keep in mind it is a maintenance charger, not a high current deep charger.

I bought this battery "extender" to maintain the battery in my two-year-old, rarely-driven garage queen. When I first attached the unit, it said it was analyzing the battery, then reported that it was 5% charged, and proceeded to begin charging. The car had been sitting for three weeks, so I was not alarmed at the battery's condition. It has now been 48 hours, and display says the battery is at 91% charge, the same thing it said twelve hours ago. So either my like-new battery can no longer take a full charge, or this unit is flawed in some way.

Other than this odd behavior, I like the SP3. It tells you what it's doing, takes up little space, and comes with a few different connection options.

One last thing. The manual that comes in the box is brief and omits information--like the connection options. I found a better copy online, but that should not be necessary.

Here is an update: after four days of charging (!), the unit finally switched over to "Maintaining", so all seems well.

Works exactly as I expected. I also use this with a Battery Tender 081-0148-25 25' Quick Disconnect Extension Cable and the connectors don't seem to seat completely (~1/16 inch or so of one side doesn't quite close, but certainly is secure). I believe this is mostly due to extension cord connectors, not this plug unit or charger connector. Charger is the BatteryMINDer Battery Charger / Maintainer with Desulphator 12 Volt 2/4/8 Amp, Model# 12248. The combination works perfectly except for the minor issue with closure of the connector.

Great compliment to the battery tender. Don't have to expose the battery terminals. This, along with the tender, is one of the most practical purchases I made for the bike.

I found a battery charger at a great price at, of all places, Wal-Mart! And the best part, it was only $20! What it lacked was the plug that allows for a quick connection to my 1995 BMW R1100R so I found this and it works perfectly! How much can you say about a car charger for a cell phone? Does it work, stop charging when full, appear to be well made and durable, priced right, and shipped fast?

Yes 5x.

Other thoughts: To get the phone maker's OEM branded (Motorola)charger shipped to my door for $8.08 is a very good deal. The charger looks cool with the lighted blue window that's viewable from all angles, so you don't have to fiddle with the charger to find some tiny little LED to see if it's on nice feature. The construction quality is clearly much better than the off-branded one I picked up at an auto parts store as a tide-me-over backup. The smart chip works, as the charger did not push juice to the phone when full, but when the phone had been used for a little while and reconnected it began charging only until full again. This is comforting...who needs a ruined battery or electrical fire in their car?..especially if they aren't around.

Would I recommend this to a friend or family member? Yes.

First things first: IF (and that's IF) you get the genuine OEM Motorola charger listed here, the SPN5400, it works great with modern smart phones like the Motorola Droid, The Incredible, The Google Nexus One, etc. Basically, if your phone has a micro USB connector (and almost all of the newer generation smart phones do), then this is the charger for you.

That said: Not every seller is selling the right item. There are lots of reports of people getting the wrong charger (I've had this happen myself). Your best bet: Amazon, who not only IS selling the correct charger, but has the best price, when you factor in shipping, provided you qualify for free shipping from Amazon (either with Prime, or if your order is > $25).

OK, that said, here's the rest of my review:

There are so many sketchy sellers selling phone chargers out there, that it can be a bit scary. The problem is that if the charger is poorly made, the output of the charger can be out of spec and can, in some cases, fry the phone you connect to it.

For that reason, when it comes to phone chargers, you should stick to name brands. (They are all made in China, but the name brand ones are usually subject to stricter QA).

When I found this charger on Amazon, SOLD BY AMAZON, I jumped on it. It's a MICRO USB car charger, made for Motorola and sold under the Motorola name, in retail packaging. The rated output is 4.75-5.25V and 950mA.

This charger should work fine with most any phone that uses the MICRO USB connector. The key number to pay attention to is the second one, the rated amperage. This is the MAXIMUM amount of current that the phone can request from the charger. A typical USB port on a PC provides as little as 100mA, and few provide more than 500mA. So this charger should charge your phone faster than when it's connected to a PC. A few phones out now can use up to 1000mA. But that just means they CAN use that amount. If 950mA is provided, they'll still charge, just a bit more slowly.

Note that the amperage (second number) merely tells you how much the charger CAN supply, if requested. The phone itself is responsible for asking for the current. That is to say, if this charger can provide 950mA, but your phone can only use 300mA--no problem. Your phone asks for 300mA and the charger provides all of what is requested. If, on the other hand, your phone can use 1000mA, this charger will provide all it can, which is 950mA--a wee bit less than the max asked for. That's also not a problem; it just means your phone will charge a little bit (not much in this case) more slowly. The rated voltage for this charger is presented in a range of 4.75-5.25V. The "ideal" voltage for a USB charger of any type if 5V. And most chargers for home use are rated right at 5V. But car chargers work in a noisier environment and thus you have the range. This is where a cheapo charger can really do damage, as some of them are poorly regulated and can provide voltages that are WAY out of spec. Again, when you can get a name brand charger from a seller you can trust (Amazon) for such a reasonable price, it's very foolish to consider the cheapo no-names.

This is an excellent quality name brand travel micro USB charger at a price that beats the no-name junk from third party sellers. What's not to like?

BE SURE TO ORDER IT FROM AMAZON AND NOT ONE OF THE THIRD PARTY SELLERS, as some of those have been known to make mistakes with respect to what they ship relative to the listing. I can confirm that Amazon is shipping the P513 /89143N /SPN5400 charger, as pictured.

I was skeptical based on the price as well as some other reviews. I've been very pleased, though, with the value and effectiveness of this charger. No, it's not going to completely recharge your battery from the brink of death in 20 minutes, but in an hour, with the phone inactive, I've seen a 40% increase in charge. It's also nice to have when using the GPS function or the music player on the Droid. I'm able to keep the phone in use for hours without having to worry about a dead battery by the end of my ride.

I have had this device for well over 2 years now! I live where it gets vary cold and it has always ran for me. I normally just have my laptop, GPS and phone charger plugged into it. It never has blown it's fuse yet. This has also has always been in the same place in my car, duck taped to my dash!

The only bad thing I can say about it is in the winter when its below 20F outside and I turn it on the fan is loud and I think the bearings need to be fixed but when it warms up it is quiet.

I originally bought this at a truck stop in Oregon, we were on a trip down to Florida. I must have used it for hours to charge stuff and watch movies, etc.

That was about 3 years ago, may dad keeps it in his truck and we still use it today!

To anybody who has any experience with inverters knows that there will be fan noise as the heat generated in the inversion process. This device was 20 bucks and i had it simultaneously charging a laptop, and ipad and a ipod touch with its 2 outlets plus usb. It worked great for me. I must admit the design of the cables is a little clunky but for 20 bucks this works great.

I bought this unit to recharge my Makita 18V lithium batteries on my way into work when I was in a jam. With the radio on and traveling down the highway at 70 MPH in a pickup truck I could still hear the fan on the unit alot more than expected. I work in the solar industry but we only deal with larger panels for homes and bushiness. I bought this little panel to keep my deep cycle battery in my camper topped off when I'm camping. It is a nice looking all black panel and seems to be well built. The voltage and current readings seemed to be within spec according to my multimeter and overall I'm very happy with it. The only reason I gave it four stars is that the junction box wiring in the back is a little cheap looking and might require some service if the wires are tugged. The panel is also a very nice small size which is great for taking in your car or RV. Compare the dimensions of this crystalline silicon panel to amorphous versions of the same wattage crystalline silicon is still much more efficient. There is some debate about whether the amorphous products produce better with partial shading or in low light but I'm not convinced by those arguments.

Added this to 4watt bruton panels to get more umph for my solar project for a cabin. Have them charging 2 interstate marine batteries that run a 400 watt cobra inverter for small charging and lighting. Dont want to go too large, then the idea of being disconnected is gone. it never worked and is not worth the hassle of the return. i would like to not have to mess with cable hanging from the charger all the time (when are they going to make a phone battery that last at least one day) but even if this had actually charged the phone i don't think the retraction part would have lasted

This gadget is easy to use, very portable & charges my iPhone very well. I just wish it were silver or a bright color to make it easy to see inside my purse. Own a unlighted version of this charger. Bought this model as a gift for a relative. They preform their function well. Very durable and dependable. Although not as quick charging as higher amp models, it seems to add a bit of longevity to battery life when using low amp charge. The 6 volt side is a plus for garden tractor 6V batteries and the older dual voltage diesel truck batteries. Just a added note that these types of chargers are NOT waterproof. The lighted charge indicator meter is a plus for low light use & letting you know the unit is plugged in. This is a "Manual" charger; one has to check the progress of the charge every so often. It did charge a fully drained group 42 12V battery in 7.5 hours. One thing the other solid state chargers won't do is charge a drained battery. The charging cable and power cord is long enough to use with most under the hood applications. The case is stamped thick sheet metal that is durable to hard bumps and dings. Highly recommended to those who don't need a "super-quick/booster" charger or a "hook & forget" charger.
