  • with UV oil coated, shiny surface. compact amazing appearance. Converters 12-volt DC power from a vehicle battery into 120-volt AC power. Simply plug the inverter into your vehicle's DC outlet, and connect your device to the inverter's AC outlet or USB port.
  • New upgraded version ! Dual USB port: DC5V, 3.1A in all. Save your charge time. one is 1A, the other is 2.1A special for iPad.

  • Protections: Short circuits, overload, over temperature, low battery voltage, over battery voltage.
  • Soft start, surge protection, auto-shut down protects your device and the inverter from the overheating, over load , low load, short circuit, low voltage and over voltage.

I bought this after my previous cheap quality inverter burned down after my jacket zipper short circuited the power. The problem with the previous one was that it had a lot of exposed surfaces.

What I like about this:

(1) Works very well charged laptop, cell phone ... so far so good

(2) Corded, instead of plugged this will keep it safe as well as a good utility since I can reach it to power a laptop in the rear seats

(3) Single unit with both 110v as well as 12v USB power so I can charge my laptop as well as iphone at the same time

(4) Safe, enclosed unit

(5) Cool, has a inbuilt fan which keeps switching on/off a couple of times whenever it needs to cool off the fan is pretty silent, you can hear it only when your car is parked

Nice package, pretty quiet I wasn't having any problems with this little inverter... until the fan developed a loud whine on startup. Okay I'm willing to cut it some slack, it was still putting out good power and the sound faded fairly quickly...

And then it wouldn't fade out. It sounds like the fan bearings have gone, after less than four months.

I can't say I'd recommend this unit but it's better than no inverter at all. And seeing the fan noise didn't start for a couple of months you're probably okay using this in a short-term situation. I don't know if it's a problem with this model, or if I just got lucky but I wouldn't get a second unless I was really hard up for power.

Using in my car to charge laptop/phone so i can use my other accessory outlet for my ipod transmitter...Does great for me, though i would recommend disconnecting it if you are shutting the vehicle off to ensure you do not drain your car battery.

The charger works fine and like the fact that it has two USB ports and and an AC plug. It does get a little noisy at first when it is plugged in but not a big deal after a while or if you have music playing. The item feel very sturdy and well built and a little on the pricey side for what it is but it works well.

Schumacher CR-1 Charge 'n Ride 3 Amp 6/12 Volt Universal Battery Charger for Ride-On Toys

Schumacher CR-1 Charge 'n Ride 3 Amp 6/12 Volt Universal Battery Charger for Ride-On ToysI bought two of thes since I run dual batteries on my power wheels one worked once, now it aborts every time before full charge. The second one never worked, the power led comes on but the charging never does and never charges. Took the second one back and exchanged it for another one with the same results so after three of these chargers one works half the time.

Avoid this headache!!!

I bought this to charge and recharge my kids power wheels battery. I used it 1 time, got the full charge. I then bought a second battery so the kids can run the car for longer periods, and the charger failed immediately. Called Shumacher support number, and they were perplexed by how the charger was acting, instructed me to go ahead and plug it back in and let it set until it started charging. It never got there, the red L E D power light just flashed slowly, never reset, or charged another battery. I have since requested a return number, and am awaiting instructions to get this pos fixed. it should work more than 1 time.......

I bought this charger because I have a Power Wheels 12v Mustang and a Peg Perego 12v John Deere XUV 550. The adaptors are easy to switch and it works great. The only thing that's a little annoying is the high pitch whistle the charger makes when charging. Other than that its a great product.

I found about this product after contacting Schumacher's customer support about the correct setting to use in one of their bigger chargers (which I've been using for a couple of years with great results!), when charging a small battery for a Power Wheels. The customer support rep suggested looking into this particular model because it has been designed exactly for that purpose, and I am happy to admit that she was 100% right! The different connectors, the plug-in-and-forget operation, etc., make it the best charger you can get for small batteries. I can charge Power Wheels and Peg Perego batteries just by switching the end connectors, and they both last a loooooooooong time after being charged. I expect that this charger will also help extend battery life, since it's supposed to charge them the right way and avoid overcharging.

Want Schumacher CR-1 Charge 'n Ride 3 Amp 6/12 Volt Universal Battery Charger for Ride-On Toys Discount?

I bought this after borrowing my father's same charger for about 4 months. Charges the 12 volt batter for our riding toy. Display indicates when 80% charged and 100% charged. Cords on both ends are pretty good length, making it convenient to leave on the work bench in the garage and stretch down to the battery for charging. I've had other cheaper chargers that haven't held up or don't even seem to work from the get go. This one seems built to last.

12 Volt 10.5 Ah MotoBatt MBTX9U Sealed Maintenance Free AGM Battery

12 Volt 10.5 Ah MotoBatt MBTX9U Sealed Maintenance Free AGM BatteryI've put about 25,000 mile on this battery, and it has been great. My stator went out on me and this battery survived being run 40 mile to work, parked for eight hours, riding 40 miles home, and being recharged by my Battery Tender overnight for a couple weeks before I figured out something was very wrong. First I thought the battery was at fault because it was taking so long for the tender to indicate a full charge every night. I ended up replacing the battery, regulator/rectifier, and stator. Well guess what, the new battery ( a cheap TMS brand battery bought through Amazon ) turned out to be a dud. It wouldn't start my bike ( 07 VFR800 ) twice in a row. Now I have this old battery back in the bike, and it's working like a champ! Just like new despite all the abuse it took. Can't wait to buy another Motobatt.

Battery was shipped fast and packaged well from seller. It was the same size and specs as the Yuasa that came with the generator. After installing the battery the generator started right up without needing a charge.

I got 5 1/2 years out of the Yuasa but the MotorBatt was half the price. So far so good.

Installed and had some minor malfunction with bad connections. Used some terminal silicone and that seemed to solve the problem.

All in all, so far so good. Good price for a universal battery

I bought a cheap battery 6 months before I bought this one hoping that it would last me a year or soit didn't even make the 6 months. The MotoBatt is fast cranking and high quality. Amp hours are really important. My old cheap battery was 9 amp hrs; brand new this barely made the starter turn the engine over. This battery is 10.5 amp hrsit cranks it over fast! My advice, don't go cheap on a batteryit will cost you more in the end.

EZOPower White Rapid Car Charger + Home Travel Charger for Apple Ipod Nano Chromatic 8GB 16GB 4G 4t

EZOPower White Rapid Car Charger + Home Travel Charger for Apple Ipod Nano Chromatic 8GB 16GB 4G 4th Generation
  • This Combo Pack Includes: Brand new EZOPower Charger. One Car Charger, One Home Charger.
  • Car Charger: Vehicle Lighter Adaptor (12~24v DC). Short circuit protection. LED charging indication.
  • Plug never heats or overcharges the battery. Can Charge Ni-Mh, Ni-cd and Li-Ion Battery.
  • Intelligent IC chip inside recognizes a full battery and automatically switch to a saver.
  • Home Charger: Input: 100V - 240V (U.S. & World Standard). LED light power indication.

I'm very happy with these chargers. I usually listen to my ipod in the car and I was frustrated that it always ran out of battery and then I had to go inside and plug it into the computer. Now I can just leave the ipod in the glovebox and charge it as needed while in the car. When I play the mp3 player through the car stereo at the same time as using the charger it does emit a high-pitched background noise, but the convenience of being able to charge on the go instead of having my ipod constantly running out of battery is well-worth those occasional times when I need to charge and listen simultaneously. And using the wall charger is also more convenient than always having to use the computer to charge when at home. Best of all, these chargers are so affordable! Apple will charge $20 or $30 for basically the same product.

RCA H116 6 GB MP3 Hard Drive

RCA H116 6 GB MP3 Hard DriveThis Mp3 Player Is Awesome. the controls are very simple and quick to use, they are better than any other mp3 player I ever tried. The fm Tuner is a little weak and you have to turn the mp3 player volume up all the way, as well at the radio volume up pretty loud to hear it. It is not cluttered with extra features. You can also put files on it like a jump drive. It does have some glitches: Sometimes it locks up, and none of the buttons respond, However If you hold the power button for about 30 seconds, It will reset without deleting your files or music. Also, once in a long time it will display the song you chose and play somthing different. The warrenty is too short. I cracked the plastic over the screen and they wanted me to pay $99 to fix a simple piece of plastic, I Used Clear nail polish instead. It may not be the best out there, but I like it because it looks great and is the most basic of mp3 players. I give it 4 stars out of 5 stars because other than the bad customer service and the glitches, Which may be fixed in future updates, It is a Nice and Simple to use mp3 player. But for $150 you might want to see what else is out there first.

When it works its a nice player. I use it for audio books but i have had to replace it twice in a year because the hard drive has gone out. It some times gets buggy and you have to reformat. I would not buy another one.

ContourGPS Camera

ContourGPS CameraOVERVIEW:

I own the Contour GPS (C-GPS = 1080p) and Contour HD (C-HD = 720p). Primary use capturing HD snowboarding footage in conditions varying from blue bird sunny days to snowy flat light days.

VIDEO QUALITY: (5 out of 5)

The Contour GPS (C-GPS) features some much needed improvements over its predecessor, especially when capturing footage in low light conditions. Where the C-HD's video quality suffered on overcast/snowy days, the C-GPS excels. Subtle details in terrain (fresh vs tracked snow, etc.) are now clearly visible. 1080p HD video quality is excellent, and looks great on my 52" LCD TV.

PORTABILITY / EASE OF USE: (5 out of 5)

The C-GPS is the same size and shape as the original C-HD helmet cam, with the exception of the record toggle switch which now sits a few millimeters higher for easier operation. A welcomed improvement especially when wearing gloves/mitts. Turn the camera on, and two red laser sights light up to aid in lens alignment. Three lights on the unit a battery light, memory card light, and GPS light help identify if your battery is dead, memory is full, or GPS signal is locked.

Heads up on memory card compatibility. The C-GPS is finicky about what brand, class, and size of micro sdhc cards used; and how you format your cards. For example, I bought a 32gb Class 4 Kingston card off newegg that works like a charm; however neither my 8gb Class 6 Transcend or my 8gb Class 2 Sandisk work. Also, my Kingston card only works if formatted by the camera (not my computer).

DESIGN QUALITY: (4 out of 5)

As with previous Contour helmet cams, the design remains virtually unchanged. The body is made of aluminum and plastic. The camera attaches to various plastic mounts (two flat mounts and one goggle mount included inside the package) using Contour's "T-rail system".

My biggest gripe is the T-rails are made of plastic, rather than aluminum. The plastic T-rails are a weak link and could be susceptible to breaking. I wish Contour would have upgraded the T-rail material to aluminum on the C-GPS, but hopefully they will get it right on the next one.

BATTERY LIFE: (3 out of 5)

C-GPS battery life is significantly less than the C-HD. When recording on a fully-charged battery, the C-HD lasts about twice as long as the C-GPS. This is likely attributed to the more demanding 1080p bitrate as well as the GPS function. In my application I typically record approximately 60 minutes worth of footage before the battery runs out on my C-GPS; while the C-HD records approximately 110 minutes worth of footage on a full charge. Note these figures are based on extreme operating conditions where freezing temperatures greatly affect battery life. In any event, buy extra batteries... you'll be glad you did.

Another battery-related gripe is the mechanism which keeps the battery in place. The previous Contour models used a locking latch to keep the battery from accidentally popping out; however the new model uses a new 'hook' mechanism which can be cumbersome. This is discussed in greater detail on Contour's support forums.

GPS: (4 out of 5)

GPS accuracy may be questionable, but it's a nice feature and a step in the right direction for helmet cams. I typically get a GPS lock within 3-minutes of power up, even on overcast or snowy days. The light on the front of the camera blinks green as a satellite lock is being acquired, and turns solid green within a few minutes once GPS signal has been acquired.

STORYTELLER SOFTWARE: (3 out of 5)

Prior to the latest software update, I would've rated Contour's Storyteller Software a 1/5. Their software is buggy and unstable, particularly on mac machines. However, the latest update addresses stability issues; and tackles one of the biggest gripes in the Contour community accessibility of the GPS information without having to upload to their servers. Suffice to say, their software team has some major catching up to do with their hardware team.

Contour also scores an extra point for support; and they continually push out firmware and software updates which can potentially add some pretty cool features in the near future (C-GPS bluetooth connection to iOS or android smartphone which will allow the phone to act as a viewfinder displaying what your C-GPS sees in real-time. Another added benefit: on-the-fly camera adjustments via your smartphone bluetooth connection).

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Overall, I recommend seriously considering this product if you're in the market for a helmet cam to capture HD footage while snowboarding. This model raises the bar for future helmet cams and I am glad that I upgraded from my old C-HD. I may have a few minor gripes, but IMHO, it is currently the best HD Helmet Cam offering in terms of video quality, portability, and features at its price point.

I really wanted to like this product, and it definitely has some great features. But in practice, the camera and its accessories unfortunately were disappointing.

I purchased the Contour GPS, along with the newly available connect-view card, for a safari trip in Africa. I also purchased a spare battery.

There are some major design flaws that quickly became apparent.

THE "HIDDEN BUTTON"- I suspect this design flaw is not yet called out because the use of the "hidden button" is quite new. You can now add a "Connect View" card to the Contour GPS which gives it bluetooth capability, and thus the ability to link to an iPhone so that the phone can be used as a viewfinder. This is a very cool feature and it worked just fine. The problem is that to activate the bluetooth, you press on a "hidden button", which is just a button located underneath a plastic top layer. That's the problem. The plastic top layer is very weak, and after I pressed the hidden button only 5 times, the plastic started to crack. This is completely unacceptable and a major problem, as it obviously allows water and moisture to penetrate the camera, not to mention the problem of having an ugly, cracked top of the camera after initial use. The hidden button was only sparingly used before this bluetooth capability was added, so I suspect you will start seeing many reviews highlighting this defect.

THE DEFECTIVE BATTERY DESIGN- This was also a major design flaw that I'm not sure how was overlooked. I purchased a backup battery, which of course means that it has to be swapped out with the main battery. After pulling out the main battery only 2 times, another design flaw emerged. The battery clasp rubs against the side of the battery, and the top cover of the battery is a very flimsy, glued on piece of plastic. The clasp catches on it and peels it off almost immediately. I thus ended up with 2 batteries with detached covers, with each only being inserted and replaced a total of maybe 5 times. If the covers fall off, the battery doesn't seat properly and doesn't work, so you can't just get rid of the covers. If you're not switching out the battery, this defect won't be apparent, but for anyone looking to supplement the very mediocre battery life of this unit, you're in for a disappointing discovery.

PROS:

The angle of view is very good and captures a huge swath. Picture quality is pretty good in bright light, but basically useless in low light conditions.

The "connect view" feature is very cool (albeit a bit buggy at this time).

Overall construction, with the exception of the hidden button and the battery, is good.

The camera is compact, light, and sleek.

CONS:

The battery life is terrible, especially with GPS activated. You might get 90 minutes of standby with GPS on. Maximum of about 2 hours with it turned off.

Design flaws as discussed above.

This WILL be a great product someday, but I can't recommend it until the hidden button, battery cover, and battery life issues are addressed.

The Contour GPS camera is a fantastic product, in theory. The form factor and feature set exceed the GoPro in many ways.

However: There is a KNOWN problem with the video quality. Contour is baffled and there is no reason to believe they will fix it before you lose your ability to return the device. I would absolutely not buy this camera until they fix this. As Amazon will nto allow us to post links, just go to the Contour customer support area and read the long thread about this camera.

We had to return 3 of these to Amazon.

1) Could not upgrade firmware USB port problem

2) The battery clip broke off (a common issue)

3) Video quality was horrible (a common issue)

Thankfully Amazon's polices are AWESOME about returns. There is a reason why you buy big ticket items from Amazon.

I wanted to like this. I really did.

As soon as i got home and saw the Amazon box i couldn't wait to try it out. However i soon found out that while it looks rugged and well built, it is anything but. My unit was DOA.

The first issue while trying to troubleshoot why it wouldn't power up, was the simple procedure of removing the battery. Though i was absolutely sure that i had placed it in the right way round (they have a handy + marking on both the battery and the camera to help) it wouldn't come back out. No matter what i tried the little red clip that holds the battery in place (though not correctly, as you will see) would not let the battery slide past it to get it out. It kept catching on the protective plastic wrapper that is around the battery to stop it from shorting out against the metal body of the camera, and was trying to rip a chunk out of it.

Thinking I'd damaged the camera already, i took to the Internet and looked at their support site. I soon found out that this is apparently the norm and the company even helpfully point out that you can REMOVE SOME OF THE PROTECTIVE WRAPPING to help the battery come free enough that you can then grab it, with the aid of needle nose pliers if needed. Really?? Have they heard of quality control? The site is here, take a look at the thread and decide for yourself.Eventually i managed to get the battery out without too much damage but the plastic was torn. I did put it in correctly though, so i put it back in and pressed the power button. Nothing. Thinking that the battery must be out of charge i plugged the included USB cable into my laptop and plugged the other end into the camera. Hurrah! A red light came on. I decided to let it sit for an hour or two while i went to dinner and when i returned the red light had turned green So, fully charged it should now power up. Right?

Wrong. The camera still refused to power up. So, i took to the Internet again. I'm not sure how i missed this the first time, as it appears to be a pretty hot topic, but i don't appear to be alone with my issues. There is another thread chock full of people who took delivery of a new (new? We'll get back to that) ContourGPS and it won't power up. Lots of varied answers to what the issue is, it could be the battery not being set far enough in (the fix for that being a wad of paper, or cutting a chunk out of the top of the battery!!), the hinged cover not latching correctly, or even the power button itself not being installed the correct way around. This thread details all of the issues, with official replies from Contour. The most interesting part of all this for me at least, and the reason i decided to return my unit ASAP to Amazon (at my cost) is not the fact that this camera is clearly badly designed / manufactured. No, it's the fact that Contour claim point blank that all new cameras do not have this issue. The topics i linked to are 6 months old as a write this, but yet they are being updated daily, with people all over the world complaining that their brand new unit has the same problems.

So, Contour are either:

A: Being dishonest, and all units have these problems.

B: Telling the truth, but not selling that many.

C: Telling the truth, but they "stuffed the channel" with so many units that 6 months later they are still in stock at retailers. (which is pretty much B, but crappier for the consumer)

I've no way of knowing either way, but i like to think that Amazon is probably one of the biggest sellers of these devices, in the USA at least. If Amazon still have the "old design" in stock then Contour must have given them thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of units; if they are selling well. Though if that is the case I'm surprised more complaints are not on their support site.

Either way, It's obvious that Contour think it's better to have consumers buy what is essentially a $300 paperweight, then modify it themselves to get it to power up or return it to Contour for one of the rare "fixed" units than it is to actually recall all the defective ones from the channel and replace with new ones.

This is bad for the consumer and ultimately bad for Contour.

Thanks for reading -hopefully before it was too late.

Want ContourGPS Camera Discount?

I got this as a gift only a week ago and it has been hours of fun since. Great for family sports videos and also for my own training in a rowing shell. In addition to GPS, this model has a larger, easier record switch. Don't have to take the gloves off in the cold! It also has a still photo mode, unlike the earlier Contour models. The GPS version has better microphone placement as well, so I was able to hear my commentary even skiing in the wind. Even if you don't need to see your speed and GPS data, several improvements make this model worth it over the less expensive earlier versions. While the photos are a bit fish-eyed, resulting from the 135 degree lens, you can't beat skiing and taking 3 60 shots/second without having to stop and take off gloves, etc. The contour storyteller video editing is not the best, but it does have an easy link to post on the contour website and does show the GPS data. If you use imovie the editing is better, but the GPS data is not available. The techinical issues I have had (mostly "how to" stuff) were answered within just a few hours on the Contour.com website (over the Christmas holiday!). I would buy this product just on the basis of the AMAZING tech support.

Here's a link to a video we made with imovie skiing in Colorado: . We had an incident with a low tree limb in the woods during a minor snow slide. The camera, once found in the avalanche debris field, was still recording! Since then it continues working perfectly.

Neagative aspects include the need to link to a computer to set the HD mode and photo mode. But there are 2 settings inside the camcorder back cover that allow switching between two video/photo modes in the field. Also, I wish that the GPS data did not require use of the simplified and somewhat quirky Contour Storyteller software. Yet, the product is Mac friendly and you can upload and edit videos without Contour's software (e.g. by using iMovie or PC software) If you want to see the GPS data you must use the contour software to post your video e.g.: .

The few negatives seem outweighed by the excellent design and support of the folks at Contour. I also can't help noting that the folks I saw skiing with a competing brand looked like they were wearing a toaster on their heads.

This product has given me major grins and is the best tech gadget present in many a year. ( One caution: Be sure not to buy the waterproof case for the GPS since it only fits the earlier models, not the GPS with its larger record button. oops!)

Soladec Hybrid All-in-One Portable Solar Power Charger and External Battery Pack with Integrated Ul

Soladec Hybrid All-in-One Portable Solar Power Charger and External Battery Pack with Integrated Ultra High-Flux LED Light for iPod, iPhone, iPad and Other USB Devices
  • Latest generation ultra efficient monocrystalline solar cell module.
  • Charge most of USB-compatible portable gadgets
  • Built-in high-flux LED lamp for indoor/outdoor activities and SOS use.
  • Built-in rechargeable lithium battery will hold a charge for up to 2 years, making it suitable for emergency use
  • Can be charged from sunlight, USB port or a wall plug

The concept of this Soladec Hybrid All-in-One Portable Solar Power Charger (SD4000LP) is good. Essentially, it is a battery-powered USB charger sized like a typical 7-inch tablet. Its internal Lithium-ion rechargeable battery can be recharged either using the solar panel, or through external USB power port. Once charged, you can then use this unit as a portable charger for other USB-powered devices. The unit also features a powerful 6-LED flood light.

Since I'm an engineer, I just HAVE to open the case to see what's inside. I'm quite impressed by the high-quality components found (see the photo I uploaded to 'Customer Images' section):

The internal Lithium-ion rechargeable battery is rated 3.7V 4100mAh (the product description says '4000mAh')

The LEDs are mounted on an aluminum-backed PCB. This is great for thermal dissipation (but you don't see this very often due to high cost)

The battery charging/discharging operation is controlled by an 8-bit microprocessor (again, you don't see this often due to high cost). This is very important because, without the correct charging algorithm, a Li-ion battery can be easily damaged by over-charging.

I then tested the unit electrically, and found it to work more or less as expected:

When you recharge the internal battery through a computer USB port, the charging current is at 500mA. This is limited by the current capacity of a standard USB port. So the charge time is around 8-9 hours.

When charging through an external 5V 1A USB power adapter, the battery charging current increases to 0.69A. That means the charge time is reduced to around 6-7 hours.

When charging with the solar panel, the highest charging current I can get is ~350mA. This is under optimal test condition of bright summer sun at noon time, with the panel perpendicular to the sunbeam. In real life, it will take at least two full days of direct sunlight to recharge the internal battery. Also note that if you place the solar panel inside your car, the charging current is cut by half because the car window filters out most of the UV light.

Next, I tried to use this Soladec unit to recharge different types of USB-powered devices. The outcome varies according to the power requirement:

When charging a low-drain USB device (such as the Philips GoGear Aria MP3 Player), the USB device is powered up correctly, but the Soladec's LED indicator light does not cycle to show 'charging in progress'

When charging a medium-drain USB device (such as the Nintendo DSi XL), the device is powered up correctly, and the Soladec's LED indicator cycles to show charging in progress.

When powering a high-drain USB device (such as the VIZIO 8-Inch Tablet VTAB1008), the Soladec's LED indicator still cycles normally, but its output current fluctuates wildly because the maximum current limit is exceeded. This may cause the receiving device to get confused as it constantly enters and then exits charging mode. Actual maximum output current I measured is around 0.81A, even though the product manual says only 0.5A. So at least the product is performing better than specified.

When ON, the LED light draws 200mA from the battery. This means a runtime of 20 hours. However, I'm skeptical about the advertised light output of '170 lumen', as it requires an amazing efficacy of over 200 lumens per watt.

On the other hand, I have noticed some major design flaws with this Solardec charger:

1. There is no on/off switch. The push button switch beside the LED light does not turn off the whole system, only the light. The system is constantly drawing a 3mA standby current from internal battery. Simple calculation shows that this standby current will drain a 4100mAh battery in less than 2 months. So although the product description says the built-in battery will "hold a charge for up to 2 years", in real life you have to recharge it every single month, if you intend to use it in case of emergency.

2. The case is not weather-sealed in any way. In particular, there are no rubber caps for the two USB ports on top. So if it rains, water can easily get in through those openings. That makes it dangerous to leave this solar charger outdoor exposed to direct sunlight. The only safe way is to place it underneath your car's windshield. But doing so also cuts down the solar power by ~50%. So now it takes 4 days to fully recharge the internal battery by solar panel.

CONCLUSION:

The Soladec SD4000LP is a good attempt with quality components inside. But unfortunately, the two major design flaws mentioned above make it less useful either as an emergency power source or as an outdoor solar charger. It does work well as a LED work light, but that can hardly justify its high price tag. That's why I can only give it a 3-star neutral rating, meaning "It's Okay".

[Side note on capacity]

Is the capacity of internal battery (4100mAh) sufficient for you? That depends on the USB device you intend to recharge. For example, my POLAROID 7" INTERNET TABLET has an internal 3000mAh Li-ion battery. So on first glance, the SD4000LP contains more than enough energy to charge up my tablet from empty to 100%. However, the battery charging process has to go though two conversion steps. First, the 3.7V from internal battery is boosted to 5V at the USB port. Next, the 5V is stepped down to around 4V to recharge the tablet battery. Even if each conversion step is 85% efficient, you still lose 30% of energy in the process. That's why you always need 1/3 higher capacity than the device you want to recharge.

The biggest problem I found with solar chargers is they never get your phone past 50%, this is the only charger I have found that will take it to 100% in the same amount of time as a wall charger. The battery in the solar unit takes 7 hours to charge plugged in and 12 hours to charge using solar, and it never has any problems keeping up with any of my devises.

I'm a hiker and I'll use the GPS on my iPhone 4S to navigate through to wood in the Sierras, and for all of you iPhone 4S users out there you know how short the battery life can be, it actually drops off on average a percent a minute so I needed a heavy duty solar charger. Even with the high power consumption, as long as I stay plugged in my phone never drops below 100%, even at night when I'm using the GPS and the rediculiously bright light all nigh long. The light is also amazing, from a 12 hour charge it will run 18 hours and will stay bright the entire night. So to sum it all up, I actually couldn't pull more power than it could put out, it always felt like there was a wall outlet in my tent becouse no matter what I did I couldn't kill the thing! It was well worth every penny spent

This is an excellent product. The flashlight is super bright and lasts all night long (if you don't use all the battery for charging your devices). I live on an off-grid sustainable organic farm in Hawaii and I use this every night for reading. It's the first solar USB charger I've ever owned so I have none to compare it with but I am very satisfied and this little gadget meets my particular needs. Hope this is helpful. Oh, and I use it to charge my HTC Resound cell phone.

Update: It does require full sunlight for best results. And now that I'm in a new location that doesn't receive full sunlight it requires much longer to charge a device.

Moultrie 6-Volt Solar Panel

Moultrie 6-Volt Solar PanelI have several deer feeders I've been using for over 10 years and have tried many different battery chargers as I run the feeders year round. I find these Moultree chargers to be the best. Easy to mount on the leg of the feeder and they last for several years. Only complaint: the electric line is NOT shielded and squirrels eat through it after a few months or so. I always need to go back and encase the electric lines in a metal sheath that I get at Lowes or Home Depot. Also, the batteries usually die after a year or two before the solar charger fails. Also remember to clean the solar charger every few months to keep it operating at peak efficiency. Keeep the charger aimed at the best afternoon sun also. It should get at least 2-3 hours of sunlight a day. More is better, but I find it only needs 2-3 hours a day to keep the batteries fully charged. I also use a 7ah 6-volt battery instead of the standard 4.5ah 6-volt battery as it defiantely lasts longer.

Works as advertised. With this and a 6 volt rechargeable battery, I was able to keep my deer feeder going the entire season (I usually go through about 3 to 4 alkaline batteries in this amount of time). I have a meter on my feeder that gives me the status of battery power. After 4 months it still says the battery has 100% power. It was nice to know that after a busy week at work, that I could go sit in the stand on saturday morning and know that me feeder was working.

Duracell 813-0807 800 Watt DC to AC Digital Power Inverter

Duracell 813-0807 800 Watt DC to AC Digital Power InverterThis is a very good inverter. As others have noted, it does not come with a cigarette lighter adapter cord. 800w is overkill for a cigarette lighter inverter, anyway. If that is the intended use you want a 150w-200w unit. I use this to run my DryGuy boot dryer (which pulls about 450w on start-up and then drops to 200w), to charge up my Ipod and Iphone through an AC to dual USB plug and my transceiver through a docking station using a 105 amp hour, deep cycle battery. The unit is stable, the fan kicks on only when needed and the digital display provides accurate, pertinent information like current watts being pulled and how many amps are left on the battery. The low battery power alarm is appropriately irritating. Everything about the inverter feels solid and well done. Things I would like to see? A USB port and AC outlet on the top of the unit and an external fuse would all be nice. The unit is sturdy, well constructed and attractive. I label it a good, old fashioned bargain. Highly recommended.

This is a very good inverter. I like that it has a digital display so I can calculate how long the battery will last. I usually use it with jump pack/ battery backup system that I built out of this battery boxMinnKota Trolling Motor Power Center. It works much better than a typical jump pack that you can purchase on here. I use an 80 amp hour (usable power without extremely discharging battery) so I can run whatever I need to for quite a long time. I keep it recharged via my cigarette lighter to the boxes cigarette lighter (you will need a cable with 2 male ends). It is a very good setup and this inverter easily mounts to the side of the box. Hope this helps and gives the inverter a better rating... The other two reviews are absolutely worthless.

By the way, you can purchase an adapter to be able to plug this into your cigarette lighter. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE 800 WATTS! You could then use this inverter to power equipment up to about 150 200 watts otherwise you will need to attach it directly to the battery.

Buy Duracell 813-0807 800 Watt DC to AC Digital Power Inverter Now

The Duracell 800 watt inverter is an item that I think everyone should have as part of a home emergency kit. Just about everyone will go through a power blackout at some time or another and you never really know how long it will last. Not everyone has the financial resources or extra space to store a generator, but if you have access to a motor vehicle, you can have emergency power in your residence; to keep a light or 2 on, to charge a cell phone, or power your freezer for an hour to keep all that valuable food in there from spoiling. All you need is this unit and a 50-100' 14 ga extension cord(s) and some 3 way splitters, and a tank full of gas and you've got power.Even if you live in a 2nd story or higher apartment building, you can drop a cord over the balcony and you're good to go.

And if you have to leave for any reason, the inverter doesn't take up much room in your vehicle so you can have portable AC power where ever your vehicle is!

The Duracell inverter comes with the cables/clamps needed to hook up to any 12v battery and is ready to use in under a minute. the digital display readout lets you readily know how much power is left in the battery, so you know when you have to to start the vehicle and charge it back up. At 800 watts, it won't power your home's A/C but it will power a fan to help keep you cool or make ice for a cooler. It can power a video game or a DVD player to help keep the kids calm and occupied and cook some dinner in the crock pot while you take care of otherimportant matters. You can even be the good guy of the community by letting your unprepared neighbors charge their phones or portable electronic devices!

For under $100, you can have a portable power station. How can you beat that?

Get one of these units before the storm hits and you won't be left in the dark and disappointed.

Read Best Reviews of Duracell 813-0807 800 Watt DC to AC Digital Power Inverter Here

1. Do you live in an area where the power could ever go out?

2. Do you own a vehicle (or, more accurately, own a vehicle battery)?

3. Do you have small devices such as cell phones, laptop computers, tablet devices, power tools, or even lamps that you would like to be able to power during a blackout?

If the answer to all these questions is "yes", do yourself a favor and get a Duracell Digital Inverter 800. Having an inverter will allow you–during a power outage, or anytime you're away from an AC outlet (camping, job sites, etc.)–to convert the DC power stored in your car's 12-volt battery into 120-volt AC power that you can plug electric devices into.

I recently wrote a full review of this item on my blog at: TraceMyPreps.com

Want Duracell 813-0807 800 Watt DC to AC Digital Power Inverter Discount?

Bought this for emegency back up, use it a few times, works well, like it alot. This Duracell 800 watts dc to ac have good styling, small and compact and can provide plenty of wattage. It powered my 60 inch tv and stereo when I had a power outtage without any problems. What I like about it is that it let you know how much wattage is being consumed so you can control how many things you can use. And 800 watts of continuous power is alot. Well worth it, Get one, but keep in mind you will need to purchase a backup 12 volt battery,(car battery) with plenty of amps, (700-1000 amps) so when those light goes out you won't be left in the dark. that's my review.

Motorola DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio

  • Full-graphic backlit display with contrast adjustment, backlight timer, and provides battery gauge
  • Digital group call capabilities include public-group calling up to 5 public groups; 2 default public groups (channel 1, public 1-2)

Bought a pair of these radios during a US vacation. Range is practically at par with those common FRS/GMRS radios, don't expect more, especially not outside of a building. Inside larger buildings, the Motorola DTR410 really rocks, range is very good, even over a couple of floors. What makes this radio better than the cheaper FRS/GMRS is the quality of the communication between the units. It really sounds very well, no distortion, very loud and clear and without any noise/chatter. I also love the fact that the radio shows you if the other radio is in range. This is a fantastic feature which I have never seen on FRS/GMRS radios. The build quality is also absolutely great and the radio is very robust and rugged.

So if you are using your two way radio mainly in larger buildings/structures like hotels, malls, cruise ships, etc., the Motorola DTR410 is really great. If you need a two way radio for outdoor activities, a GMRS radio might offer a greater range in the open field.

Since using the DTR410 for almost a year now, I never looked back (former FRS/GMRS radios).

Highly recommended but not cheap. You get what you pay for though.

Buy Motorola DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio Now

This two way radio is good for a big open site and small buildings, but for larger concrete building structures, they do not communicate well as the specifications state. Has good features overall, but could not communicate with them throughout a relatively large reinforced concrete building.

I tested a pair of these radios against a pair of 4 watt UHF portables and the range of these radios was a lot further. I belive it is due to the fact that these radios operate on 900mhz and are digital.

Want Motorola DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio Discount?

Do not purchase this radio unless you plan to use it indoors, like inside a warehouse, a store, or a mid-size work place. I bought a pair of the DTR650's, which is the same as the DTR410, but with a better antenna (supposedly). The furthest I was able to talk to the other radio was only about three blocks. That is terrible for a radio that costs over $250.

You will also need to learn to use the special menu features to program it and select your contacts. You need to choose the people that you need to talk to. You also need to give each radio a name or alias (unless you want to keep your default 123456789 number to identify yourself in other caller ID's), and you can only change your user or radio name with programming software from your PC. The software is great and it's free, but you'll need to purchase the programming cable to connect the radios to the PC. This cable is NOT a USB cable; it's a serial DB9 cable. Who the heck still uses DB9 serial cables, Motorola???!!!

Also, these are cereal box-quality radios. They feel very light, like a toy walkie talkie you would buy for your kids. For this design, Motorola basically took a small Nextel phone or a cordless phone that operates in the 900 MHz range and put it inside this big cheap plastic radio housing.

I'm going back to my Motorola RDM series and use their scramble technology for privacy, thank you very much... I can get at least a mile and a half distance with them, and I know they're going to last longer.

Save 21% Off

There is about half second delay in speech, so you have to wait extra before you can start talking. Very weird. Also, sometimes when I pushed the PTT button the radio wouldn't connect to the other one. I'd have to let go the button for a couple of seconds and then retry. Returning them back to the seller today. Not impressed.
