Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car Jumpstarter

Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car JumpstarterThe product description above is very misleading, because it suggests that this product can replace a jump-start. My battery went dead today, and I used this to charge it for many hours. All it managed to do was light up my dashboard clock.

Description doesn't provide this device's capacity.

Just says 5Amps. I found that this battery has 1.5Ah (Amp*hour)

Compare with your car battery 75Ah capacity and top current of

150Amp and you'd see that only by miracle it can recharge your

car's battery or help you jump-start.

Buy Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car Jumpstarter Now

Wish I had found these reviews before purchasing this product. This will NOT jump start a dead car battery.

Is there product that does what this promises i.e., jump start a dead car battery without 1)another car and 2)going under the hood?

Please let me know as I've wasted too much time, money and safety on products that don't work (including this one).

Read Best Reviews of Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car Jumpstarter Here

To start a car, you need high current that a car battery provides, either from your own or a donor car's.

This device can't provide enough current to start your car. What it can do is to slowly charge your car battery and let it store enough power to give high current for a second.

Apparently, if your car battery can't hold the charge, it wouldn't work; if it's very weak, it takes longer to charge. And if you try to turn on the engine before the car battery is ready, you've just wasted all the juice from the jumper to the car battery, and may well blow any chance for this thing to work.

There's nothing on the market that you can plug into the cigarette light socket and start the car instantly. Even if the jumper has another car battery in it, the socket can NOT carry that much current.

For the convenience, size and independence of a good Samaritan, this is as good as it can get.

My old FM transmitter that was about 8 years old took a dump on me, so I had to get a new one. The result is that I ended up getting this one.

First thing is, I was completely miffed by the fact that all of the FM transmitters on the market advertise extensively how they work with iPhones and iPods. Well, it would be a cold day in August before I would ever buy an Apple product, so I spent quite a bit of time searching and making sure that this one would work with my Droid 2 Global. And it works extremely well at that.

The second thing is, I paid about $60 for my old FM transmitter back in 2004, and the sound quality was a little bit sketchy. That's not the case with this one. In fact, I can now crank the stereo and enjoy crystal clear audio. I honestly didn't know that the stereo in my car was as good as it is. I also like the fact that I can use the entire FM band.

The one recommendation I have for users is to make sure that your mp3 device is on about 80% volume. It will produce some distortion (sounds like static) if on 100%.

The negatives are minimal. First of all, the device didn't come with an instruction book. So I have no idea if there are any bells and whistles I might be missing. Plus, there is no control to adjust the output of the device itself. Other than that, though, I'm happy with my purchase.

EDIT: I feel bad about this review because so many people have marked that they have found it useful. I am keeping my original review in its entirety, but I feel as if I need to do a followup.

Six months later, the cable that plugs into this unit from my car's cigarette lighter has developed a short. The music being played is staticy, and occasionally, it will cut completely out when hitting a bump. I know it's in this plug because when I twist it, the music will cut out completely. I'm disappointed because it worked so well and was so clear when I bought it. Clarity in my music really matters to me, though, so I am finding that I am having to replace it.

I bought a car with a cd player in it and they player didnt work i searched for somethingto put into my car that will let me play MY music and something cheap so I wouldnt have to spend alot of money fixing the cd player.. I came across this this and thought i should try it being only 8 bucks and i am very pleased. Mine canme with an instruction book and now can listen to my creative zen mp3 player anywhere i go. the only reason i didnt give it all 5 stars was bc they car adapter cord keeps getting loose the in outlet in my car, I dont know if its the plug itself or just the car being that it was used my a smoker before i bought it, i just use batteries to avoid this probelm. otherwise great device!

This transmitter was a piece of crap! I got it and the first week I had it, it sounded great! Then the second week it randomly stopped working. When the cable was barely touched at all or moved the music would stop or it would sound only play the sound and no lyrics. it was just a bad experience. you are better off paying a little more for something better and well known, or getting an auxiliary cable.

I rarely review on Amazon (boo to me), but I feel this product needs the positive reviews to ensure you believe its worth the low price.

I previously owned a much more expensive transmitter for an iPhone and it was crap. I needed a windshield dock to position it in a particular location to get MINIMAL (never completely faded) static.

When my iPhone began failing, I started using my BlackBerry and invested in a MicroSD card and transmitter because my drive to work is rather long and lacks interesting scenery.

This transmitter works great. The first time I used it, I tuned to the station I previously used with the iPhone because it worked the best then. I was a bit surprised to hear complete silence, honestly thinking the station that I could previously hear bits and pieces of between static was gone. It wasn't until this morning powering up the radio before the transmitter that I realized it was simply because the transmitter was "reserving" the frequency for whatever would play. COMPLETE SILENCE, NO STATIC!!!

The sound quality is great (in my opinion as someone who just wants to hear the music at a decent volume without static), and it's very simple to use.

The only thing I noticed which I'm not too sure how to explain is that there was actually a lot of interference when I tried to charge my BlackBerry at the same time. I'm not sure if this is specific to me or what but I just avoid it by making sure I have a full charge.

DEWALT DCF880B 20-Volt Li-Ion 1/2-Inch Impact Wrench Kit with Detent Pin

DEWALT DCF880B 20-Volt Li-Ion 1/2-Inch Impact Wrench Kit with Detent PinStarted using this impact to drive in 3/8 lag bolts (3 inch long) into 2X4 wood and performed well. I then noticed that the battery had very little charge on it and so I switched to a fully charged battery. With a fully charged battery it performed exceptionally, driving the lag screws into the 2X4 was extremley quick like there was no resistance in the wood at all. This impact is very light and easy to use compared to the 18V 1/2 inch impact that I had which was heavy and awkward to use in tight spaces.

Not to powerfull but is OK battery last long for ever and this little gun fits any ware good product for the money

I admit that I was a little worried when I ordered this tool and prepared myself that I'll probably exchange it for the big bro version (DCF889B) if it didn't pull the lug nuts off my SUV. I was amazingly surprised that this little bad boy performed more than I expected. It took off the lug nuts easily (I had a torque wrench and tested a few lug nuts before using this tool; at least a couple were torqued at least 100 ft./lbs.)

I would have preferred the hog-ring vs the detent pin, but couldn't find the bare tool only kit. The detent pin is not a deal breaker for me so I don't really mind it.

***UPDATE***

I just used this impact to remove the lug bolts torqued at 110 ft/lbs.

Worked like a champ!

I bought this impact because I saw the 18v in action. We were on our way to a horse sale when we had a blowout on the trailer. Within 7 min. we were back on the road with the spare in place. Woulda givin it a 5 star rating if it was just a little more powerful. Very happy with my 20v Dewalt tools

Auto Meter BUSPRO-600s Multi Battery Charging StationI have used the bus pro 600 for a while and previously used other different regenerators, this is the only one that met my expectations, my main equipment at the battery shop

Thsi is an excellent product. One of the best that I have purchased. The only problem is that it takes too long to ship from the 'real' supplier Auto Meter. Something should be done about this as Amazon would lose some commissions I suspect. Due to the urgency of my needs, I recently had to cancel one that I ordered.

Charger bundle of Accessory for Sandisk Sansa Fuze

Charger bundle of Accessory for Sandisk Sansa FuzeThe car charger seems to work fine. The USB is okay. But the wall charger does not work at all. SF Planet sent me a second wall charger but that did not work either. Still, even for just the car charger and USB, not a bad deal for $8.

I bought this charger bundle for the Sansa Fuze from the seller TPA STORE (Fulfilled by Amazon). The items function fine, with the exception of the wall charger (...but it was an easy fix). The 2 chargers are for me, while the USB cable was for my mom who lost her original USB cable. I will break down more details of my experience below.

The shipping was fast, and the package came a day early. Not much to complain about there, but I did have a problem initially with the way the whole thing was packaged. The shipment came in one of those grey, plastic baglike envelopes, which really worried me for a second...until I saw that each of the items was individually bubble-wrapped. I still wish they'd've packaged it in a bubble-lined manila envelope, though.

My first impressions upon unwrapping each item was that they seemed to have spent an unnecessary portion of the money spent in the manufacturing on making the plastic super-glossy. It didn't seem too sturdy, which made me wonder if they were just trying to win you over with the excessively shiny plastic. The wall charger especially seemed fragile.

So, on a hunch, the first thing I tested was the wall charger. It went into the wall fine, and didn't cause any problems. I plugged in my Fuze (1st generation), which was a little difficult to do until I saw that the connector had buttons on the sides. After that discovery, it went in fine, and disconnected fine despite the slippery buttons. But when I went to remove the plug from the wall, the casing separated into two. It gave me a chance to look at the connections inside, which seemed pretty solid. I put the casing back together using a $4 stick of epoxy putty I bought at my local hardware store, and it did the job perfectly. Buying the putty made this all cost just over $10, which is still a great value.

The next thing I tried was the car charger. Everything on it functions perfectly, and I am able to play music through my car even when my Fuze is charging, although I hear feedback from interference caused by turning on the left turn signal in my '03 Santa Fe. One thing I don't like about this charger is the coiled cable, but beggars can't be choosers I guess.

The USB cable I gave to my mom. She has tried it out, and she says it works just fine. Really, I wish I could give this charger combo 3.5 stars, because I feel that it is worthy of more than 3 stars, yet not good enough for 4 stars. So, if you are willing to fix the wall charger, you will be satisfied with this purchase.

Buy Charger bundle of Accessory for Sandisk Sansa Fuze Now

I have had this items for years....I used the wall charger ALL THE TIME. I love the convenience of charging using an outlet vs the computer. The charge time for outlet and computer is not long at all....about 2 hours to fully charge. Just recently, the wall outlet charger died. I have gotten my use out of this item, and I am not upset about it not working after this amount of time. I use the computer cord now for recharding, and I just make sure I am working on the computer to charge the mp3 player. A little inconvenient, but that is ok.

Kensington Windshield /Vent Car Mount with Quick-Release Cradle for iPhone/iPod touch

Kensington Windshield /Vent Car Mount with Quick-Release Cradle for iPhone/iPod touchI went ahead and bought this naively believing a few other reviewers say it was perfect for the iPhone 4. Simply, it aint. The iPhone 4's square edges come nowhere close to fitting into the rounded clasps "perfectly", forcing the iPhone to sit awkwardly in the cradle. It's not a terrible fit, but definitely not perfect as other reviewers would lead you to believe. Without a case on the iPhone, the fit is a little better, but still not ideal. If you have a hard plastic outer body case for the iPhone 4, the iPhone slowly slips out of the clasps becasue of the imperfect fit and the suface of the clasps are also hard plastic, which does not create the friction needed to hold the phone. My temporary fix for this was to apply a couple of small strips of electrical tape to the inside edges of the clasps, which has done the trick. If you have a soft body silicone case, the friction will be fine and you won't need to do anything.

Keep in mind that the featured "one-handed operation" of this mount is not so functional with the iPhone 4 because of the imperfect fit. IF you are planning to use this with the iPhone 3G(s) phones, I'm sure this mount is wunderbar. But my advice, wait for Kensington to come out with this model built specifically for the iPhone 4.

I ordered this to use with my iPhone 3GS, which has a Speck Seethru Case on it, so it doesn't fit in some mounts that aren't adjustable or flexible to fit cases. (That obviously leaves out the Tomtom mount for me.) I was seriously considering the Magellan mount, but as it's just as expensive as the Tomtom I decided to look for something cheaperI don't need the GPS enhancement.

Now, let's be realisticthis is a rather inexpensive window mount. I expect it to securely hold my iPhone without dropping it, be adjustable, and swivel so that I can use my iPhone in a horizontal position. It does all this very well. Is is rock-hard solid? NO. It shakes a little, but it's not going anywhere! You shouldn't be staring at your phone while you're driving anyhow! It's easy to pop your phone in and out and I love it. Would I love it at twice the price? Maybe not, I'd probably keep looking some more. But at this pricenot even as much as the Speck Case I have on my iPhoneheck yes, I like it. BTW, The vent mount holds the iPhone a bit more securely, less vibration, but in my car using the vent mount isn't terribly practical.

Buy Kensington Windshield /Vent Car Mount with Quick-Release Cradle for iPhone/iPod touch Now

I got this car mount prior to a trip, because I didn't want to have to pack the old Magellan standalone GPS unit and its charger. Especially with an iPhone 4, I preferred to just use the phone as my only GPS unit if possible. I purchased the car mount and Navigon's GPS app, and I was ready to go.

The mount worked exactly as expected. We preferred to use the suction cup/gooseneck mount, rather than the vent mount, as it is more versatile (some car vents have trouble fitting the vent mount). The two mounts are packed in the box along with a single cradle that holds the phone. You can attach the cradle to either mount. Using the gooseneck, the iPhone was easily inserted and removed from the mount, yet did not slip or slide within the mount at all. The gooseneck is very stiff, which is a good thing, as it keeps the phone from bouncing around. Admittedly, we were driving on pavement rather than bumpy roads, but the mount and phone seemed rock solid.

The Navigon GPS app also controls and is integrated with the iPhone's iPod functions, so it's easy to play music while the GPS app is running. When the navigation voice needs to give directions, the music fades smoothly to the background. An addition of a (separately purchased, of course) 1/8" male-male audio cable plugged into the front AUX jack of the car stereo and the phone's headphone jack allowed the music and nav voice output of the phone to play through the car stereo's speakers, which is good because the iPhone's speaker isn't well-suited to stand up to road noise.

Having the audio cable in the headphone jack, and an iPhone car power adapter cable in the dock connector both attached did not cause the gooseneck to perceptibly droop.

I highly recommend this car mount (and the Navigon GPS app, too).

After using the Griffin Window Seat for several years for both my iPhone 3G and then the 3GS, I didn't think it'd get much better than that. Then I got an iPhone 4, and discovered there was no way to use the Griffin Window Seat with the newest iPhone model. So the search began. I became friends with a guy who works for Griffin via Twitter, and after some exchanges he made it rather clear that Griffin would NOT be releasing just the black plastic piece to attach the iPhone 4 to the "old" suction cup assembly already on my windshield; instead, I would have to spend *another* $30-$35 dollars for a completely new Window Seat.

Why? Is it that difficult for Griffin to make just the piece that would connect the iPhone 4 to the Window Seat and sell it separately?

Apparently.

So my hunt began, here on Amazon.com. Saw this item, then did some shopping around. Got lucky; Fry's had this unit on sale with a rebate, so my total cost ended up being $14.99 (plus tax). What a deal. The suction cup is just as good, if not maybe a little easier to secure, than the Window Seat. This unit fits my iPhone 4 either naked, with an Apple Bumper "case," or with my new iFrogz Luxe Lean Gunmetal case. It's a win all around. Free access to the headphone jack, the 30-pin connector on the bottom, and even though the roads where I live are AWFUL and very bumpy, my iPhone 4 has never "slid out" of the grasping teeth or scratched any part of my iPhone.

If you can find this unit cheaply, I highly recommend it. It also does work with an iPhone 3GS, as well as an older white 5G iPod + video I have also.

Schumacher SP-1 2/4-Amp 6/12-Volt Automatic Battery Charger/Extender

Schumacher SP-1 2/4-Amp 6/12-Volt Automatic Battery Charger/ExtenderThis product is a perfect 2amp charger for long term battery maintenance. It is NOT a fast charger and isn't designed for rapid charging of a fully discharged battery. It is designed to be plugged in and left on for long periods of time. While 2 amps may not seem like much, competitors products of which I own 2 as well are typically only 1amp. Here's the breakdown,

PROS

Easy to understand LED readout

Multiple connection types (Hard Wire, Clip)

Solid and Rugged feeling plastic case

Lightweight design (Compared to metal housings on others)

The product properly maintains my motorcycle battery as described, but it emits a high-pitched humming noise very similar to the every day ringing in my ears (tinnitus). The noise is constant whether maintaining a batter or not.. the unit just has to be plugged into the outlet. Friends who are in the garage for a few minutes always ask me "What's that sound??". The product works fine but I might switch brands if I ever need a new one.

Buy Schumacher SP-1 2/4-Amp 6/12-Volt Automatic Battery Charger/Extender Now

Having once had the good fortune to be in the factory, and to meet the patriarch of this brand, I have always been a fan of their products. I have a car charger from the 1970s and it is still in use regularly without failure and even looks new.

This new mini charger is what I use to keep my ATV ready. The utility connections are excellent and they include all the plug choices to fit your needs. I put the connection on with the two plugs and it is a snap to re-hook the charger for storage when I return the ATV to the garage. Very nice. The status lights are logical, the charger itself is quiet and is quite small to not take up space in the garage. Very small, in fact. These people are good folks and the products they make are high quality: buy this charger and forget about it.

I typically like Schumacher battery products, for the money they are much better than Battery Tender chargers. That said, this is ONLY a 2 amp charger and not capable of 4 amps (which would make it good for cars as well). So don't purchase it for cars, motorhomes and boats unless you want something only to maintain a charge.

This is a very nice product, but the directions point out that if someone presses the Test Button while the trailer is hooked up to the truck, then the electrical charge sent through the wire to the truck can destroy your trailer-break controller. Retractable Car Charger for Pantech Laser P9050

Retractable Car Charger for Pantech Laser P9050This Pantech Laser P9050 car charger was exactly what I was looking for. I had just bought a new cell phone recently and cringed to think about how much I was gonna have to spend on the accessories. I looked at an off brand at Wal Mart for $15 and the sales clerk said he didn't even now if it would work, because some can fry the phone. So if you are looking for a Great car charger for a reasonable price of $6, then you can't go wrong with this one!! The retract-ability really saves space in the car glove compartment. I would definitely recommend this one. This price beats the competition.

Stanley FL5W10 5 Watt LED Waterproof Rechargeable Spotlight

Stanley FL5W10 5 Watt LED Waterproof Rechargeable SpotlightI have both the waterproof and non-waterproof versions. The waterproof version will not hold a charge very well and therefore gives very little operating life. About to throw it away, I decided to look into what was happening as the non-waterproof version works great and others have had the poor battery performance as well with this model.

The rotating on/off switch does not penetrate thru the plastic. Instead it moves a magnet that causes one to three internal magnetic reed switches to activate and allow current to flow to the light. The dimmer moves one of them as well I think. To try it yourself remove the cover, unscrew the three top screws then unscrew the battery charge lid retainer (one screw to the plastic tab). Pull the light out no wires get in the way. Try a refrigerator magnet over the black area until the light comes on.

The problem is with the reed switches. In the OFF (open) position the switches are not truly open, rather they still have a resistance of about 2000 ohms on my light enough to leak away most of the battery in a few days.

The magnetic switch idea was good but either the switches are cheap or they are defective in design. Only solution is to leave the light on the charger until ready to use hardly a good answer.

I was actually lost looking around on the internet for the "Perfect Father's Day Gift" for not only my Father, but my Husband as well. I wasn't thinking I would hit it out of the ball park with the same gift for both.

For my father I thought flashlight or spotlight because what do you buy for the man that has everything? I remembered when I was little, 5 or 6 and my Dad would always have a Mag light flashlight for everything, one in his truck, one in the house, when they came out with the small ones he bought those too, so I figured a flashlight or spotlight might help him around the lake and would definitely be a great gift for him.. I can't afford anything else that man would want :)

My Husband, the Camper, Camping is his life, I got him a Tent for Father's Day, a Beautiful Coleman Tent he wanted, but then I bought the light for my Dad and had to get the same for my Husband "from the kids".. :)

First let me tell you, we've been faithfully disappointed in LED technology lights time and time again, until we found a lantern we recently purchased for our camping trip that boasted 400 Lumens, then we saw that an LED light could actually work, light your way, and not eat your batteries one after another. That light was the game changer, Guide Gear was the brand and it also is a fantastic buy, I will review that one separately.

I actually purchased the Stanley FL5W10 5 Watt/520 Lumen light on sale and was drawn to the fact that not only was it waterproof, but you can dive 6 feet under water with the light on!! It's not a deep dive light, but it is a neat little gadget if you've lost something near the shore at the lake. Aside from that, when dropped in the water it flips light side up, which is very handy when you accidentally drop it in the water, then of course it is BRIGHT YELLOW in case you didn't leave it on when you dropped it.

The other factors that drew me to the light, lol (pun intended), was that not only is it rechargeable, but it comes equipped with a DC and an AC charger with the package!!! YOU CAN CHARGE IT ANYWHERE!!! When it is done charging it BEEPS for you, if you leave it on the charger it will kindly remind you. It boasts a 10 Hour Use time on dim, so that's a pretty great thing in addition to being rechargeable.

Just a little bit of Battery advice, Batteries build up a memory with bad charging habits, it's like filling up your car with gas all the way once, then filling it up again and again and again once you've only used a quarter of a tank, the rest of the gas is old starts to lose it's ummph.. Batteries do this too, although they used to be much worse.

I always live by the rule of charging ANY NEW ITEM, YES, INCLUDING CELL PHONES, CORDLESS PHONES, FLASHLIGHTS, ETC, FOR A FULL 24 HOURS BEFORE YOU EVEN TOUCH IT. Even though it may beep and say it's full, leave it on for a FULL 24 HOURS before using it for the First time. Once you use it, don't take it off the charger then immediately put it back on over and over, and lastly let the battery go completely dead once per month to every 6 weeks, then charge it again to full. This will help extend the life of your battery hopefully and help prevent a bad build up or "Memory".

Now then, back to the light, The quality of the light, what you've been waiting to hear about, oh my good gosh this thing lights up the way.. I have never owned a light so powerful, it is absolutely 520 Lumens strong.

We live in one of the few places on the planet and in the USA that you can actually see the stars at night. We live in a very rural area with not a lot of traffic, light pollution or neighbors.. one such of our few neighbors lives around 5 acres away from my house, and a slew of dense cedar trees between us scattered here and there; well he always hangs outside in the evenings with some buddies, without fail and I wanted to check this light out, show it off for my husband so he could be proud of his new light. so I call the neighbor, I asked if he was outside, of course he is.. I stood on my porch and I shined the light in his back-back-back yard, meaning a hundred and fifty or so yards from his porch and i was lighting up very clearly whatever I shined it on, not faint, but an extremely clear line of sight, and he said WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT? I said our new Spotlight, he says "no kiddin", then I told him it was LED.. he said "LED?? No way!"

his crew immediately drove over in their ATV to check out my Husband's new Spotlight, then they all left me, including my husband and my son to go over to the neighbors to drink beer and play with the new light some more.. my mistake.. or was it.. HA, I had a nice hot bath in peace and quiet after a day of it being all about the Dads.. :)

My Father told me his story later when he called to tell me how much he loved the light, except he lives on the lake and they actually got in the water AT NIGHT and played with the light. He fishes at night, so he wanted to see what it could actually do.. he loved it, he lives in an inlet on the lake so the water is a bit calmer than the main lake and he couldn't believe how well he could see under water AT NIGHT with the light.

Anyhow, the light lives up to it's claims and more, it is dimmable, and is "dunkable" and I'm sure you can "Drop it 10 Feet without damaging it", although we haven't tried that out yet. I uploaded a picture comparing the size to a standard DVD for you to be able to see just how small this light is. Smaller than you'd expect compared to most spotlights but SO POWERFUL, It's amazing.

I would recommend this light for any household, Rural, City Living, Campers, Travelers, in your car on a road trip or just around town, this light is quite possibly the best light we have ever purchased.

*** Update 8/8/11: When I wrote this review my spotlight was manufactured by/for Stanley and the product on this page was a Stanley light and was yellow, Now it is Black and Decker they appear to be related, or share manufacturers, or have sold the technology, whichever, they appeared to have changed only the color from yellow to red/orange (typical B&D coloring), it's the same light I reviewed, only they changed manufacturers on us who reviewed the light prior **

I hope to have helped you with your purchasing decision.

Thanks for reading!

Have many lights, maglight, surefire, 100, 200 lumens lights from Sams club etc. this one lights up and puts spot on the mountain behind my home, at least 2 miles. My other 100, 200 lumens disappears into the night. It is small, light and compact. Better than my large 1 and 2 million candle power lights which are hard to carry and much larger in size.

This is the second spotlight I bought this week. The first was a Coleman 4351-700. I did not realize from looking at it on the Internet how big and heavy it would be. It is enormous and extremely heavy because it uses a sealed lead acid battery (SLA) (like a car battery). My wife said it was too heavy and she couldn't get her hand around it. I returned it without ever opening the bubble pack packaging.

The Stanley seemed like everything I ever wanted. I need it for my sail boat where space is at a very high premium and every pound of weight really matters.

This light is small, powerful, and light weight. The light has a very tight beam and is even more powerful than I need. It was easy to light up trees that were 1500 feet away. I didn't have line of sight to anything further away on my first outing. You can adjust the light brighter or dimmer than the default setting. I didn't notice much more light when I went to the brightest setting. I could see a significant difference at the dimmest setting, but dimmest would still be bright enough for most uses. The instructions say that you can get 50 minutes at the very brightest setting and 10 hours at the dimmest.

Another reviewer said they could not turn the unit on using only one hand. I can, but it is easier using two hands, one to hold the unit and one to rotate the on/off switch.

Now for the bad news. This unit uses NiMH batteries (which are not bad). However, they are very susceptible to damage from overcharging and like to be kept charged. They do not have a memory effect like NiCads.

You can NOT leave the charged connected after it is charged (max 5 hours), and you must charge the unit at least once every 30 days even if you have not used it. I would have been happy to spend more money to get a unit that let you keep it on the charger by just having the unit turn off the charge to the batteries when they were fully charged. There is apparently more risk of damage using the 12 volt charger because the manual has a special STRONG warning about NEVER leaving it on this charger for more than 5 hours.

I knew when I ordered the unit that it had a non-standard battery pack. I assumed that this meant that I would someday have to purchase a replacement from the manufacturer. However, the manual states:

"The battery should last the service life of the unit." In other words, dead battery=throw entire unit away. They could have made this unit to take six off-the-shelf NiMH AAA batteries, it would have been worth the extra cost.

The manual tells you that battery recycling is required when you dispose of the unit. However, very few people would have the tools and patience to disassemble the unit to get to the batteries. The solution is either to not recycle, or smash the unit open with a hammer.

Looking at some of the negative reviews, I'm guessing some people can't read. "I charged it for 24hours" or "It was already charged, but I charged it overnight anway" Duck duck durgh duh!!! The instructions plainly state to only charge the product until the light is green, but no more than 3 hours, or you risk damaging the light. Guess what is sounds like most negative reviewers here did? That doesn't mean some people didn't get a lemon, which happens, but I'm leaning towards "users fault" with many of the bad reviews. I guess it is Stanley's fault, for not realizing too many Americans are too lazy/simple minded to read. They should have built in an automatic charge kill function.

I bought 2 of these over a year ago, one for my dad and one for me. They've worked great so far. They hold their charge a long time. They're small and bright. The flashlight feels solid/well built. It has a dim/bright control. I have thoroughly tested the waterproof claim during several night-time swimming adventures, the light passed the test/abuse. What's not to like?

I only have 1 complaint. The on and off control should be simpler/quicker.

Battery Tender 021-0156 Battery Tender Plus 12V Battery Charger True Gel Cell Model

Battery Tender 021-0156 Battery Tender Plus 12V Battery Charger True Gel Cell ModelI just talked to the manufacturer. The regular Battery Tender Plus will charge lead acid, SGM, and Gel cell batteries. THIS model is not a regularly available model from the manufacturer, and should ONLY be used for the TRUE GEL BATTERY that is on the newer BMW motorcyles. This charger is optimized for that battery and is not optimized for other battery types (although it will work, but not optimally since it will not provide the best voltages needed.) A gel cell battery is not the same as a true gel battery, hence the confusion that people are having.

So .. will it work? Yes. Is it recommended by the manufacturer and optimized for other battery types? No.

The above is from my conversation with a representative from Deltran. Please do not flame me if you don't agree with what the manufacturer told me. I suggest you call them if there are disagreements. I just wanted to post this to provide some clarification since I am in the market for the Battery Tender Plus. Deltran's recommendation was to go with model 02-0128 unless I have the appropriate BMW motorcycle.

Thanks.

I purchased this product in February of 2011 and it seemed to work fine. It says that this model can be used as a battery charger and it will change from charge mode to float/maintenance charge mode without damaging the battery like trickle chargers. In July of 2011 it just stopped working while it was connected to my classic car battery in float/maintenance charge mode. Of course I bought this model for its 10 year warranty, but now I find out that in addition to having to pay to ship it to the company, I also have to pay $15.95 for them to do Warranty Evaluation, & shipping & handling fees. When you pay $47.00 for an item and it costs you around $30.00 to pay for shipping & return shipping, what is the point of the warranty? This is supposed to be "the best" of battery chargers and they basically want me to pay for anything done to the unit. I am not impressed!

Buy Battery Tender 021-0156 Battery Tender Plus 12V Battery Charger True Gel Cell Model Now

This little charger works great and takes up very little space. Product dimensions are incorrectly listed as 11x4x11 inches and 2.4 lb it is aproximately 4x3x3 inches, and can't weigh more than a half pound. It also lists the "Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black Fused 2-Pin Quick Disconnect Plug" as a "frequently bought together" item, but mine came with one. You only need more if you are planning to permanently mount them to more than one vehicle.

There seems to be some confusion as to what batteries this will charge. It is optimized for gel cells, which require a lower charging voltage than AGM or flooded. However, it is compatible with the latter 2 types. If you do not have true gel cell batteries, this is not the charger you want, but if you have a mix of 12V gel cell and 12V lead acid batteries, it will handle all of them. 021-0123 and 021-0128 are optimized for AGM batteries, compatible with flooded (STD), and not reccomended for gel cells. 021-0069 is optimized for flooded (STD) batteries, compatible with AGM batteries, and and not reccomended for gel cells. The 012-0156 does everything.

The only thing this charger won't do that I need is to charge 6V batteries, but at the price, I can't expect them to include that capability, so I'll buy their 6v model also.

After some correspondence with Odyssey Batteries (Enersys), it ends up that the battery tenders don't have a high enough float voltage for their batteries. This is all very confusing of late (gel cell, lead acid, dry cell, etc). Since the float voltage is not high enough, the battery is only about 90% charged max. I measured my BT+ at 13.24V while in float mode. Odyssey says that the float needs to be 13.5V minimum. Here's a quote from their service department:

"There are many great chargers that work well with most batteries on the market that do not fully charge the ODYSSEY battery so if your charger floats at less than 13.5V then it will sulfate the battery and it will fail premature due to consistent undercharging and maintaining the battery in an undercharged condition. Most Battery Tenders float at less than 13.5V"

So, don't plan on using a BT+ on an Odyssey battery. Now I understand why the engine wasn't cranking over as I thought it should. Time to find a better charger. I wish BT would mention this in their product descriptions/website/etc to save the consumer the hassle. I did find a recommended battery chrager list on Odyssey's website. To be fair, my other BT's have worked great on my lead acid batteries.

Best little electronic item I have bought recently. Little is what it is. The Battery Tender unit is really tiny compared to the old horse of a charger I was used to using. Very effective and very smart little unit. I tried more for a chuckle to see if I could wake up a scooter battery that showed a .5 volt remaining out of 12.4v initial start. It made up over 10v of relative charge in what was a dead battery. I was amazed and very satisfied with the capability of the Tender. Since there is no line voltage output it is a very safe unit to have around. It will hold your battery at full charge for many years. Any vehicle with a battery in it needs a Battery Tender if it is stored for more than a month at a time.

Nokia DC-4 Mobile Charger

Nokia N90 6101 6102 3255i Car Charger DC-4I'm really glad I purchased an "authentic" Nokia Mobile Charger. This item works great! In the past I've purchased mobile chargers from Cingular & AT&T. Neither had the speed that this charger has. I highly recommend getting the genuine Nokia if that is your brand of phone.

Although the charger has a Nokia label, I expcected better quality and wonder if it is a knockoff. The charger was very tight fit into my car's charger port; so tight that I was concerned about damaging the charger port. I attempted to squeeze the two spring blades a little closer so the fit were not so tight, but one of the blades cracked. Now, however, the charger fits much easier.

My next disappointment is the short cord, which barely reaches from the charging port to a tray on the console.

Oh, and, yes, it does a great job of charging my phone.

Buy Nokia DC-4 Mobile Charger Now

When I first purchased my N95 I bought a cheap knockoff for twice the price I just paid for the Amazon one. The knockoff would not stay in the phone and would not maintain a consistent charge. Pay less and get a better quality product from the manufacturer of your phone. A great deal. Works fine for my N95 and E71.

This Nokia DC-4 Mobile Charger fits the Nokia E63. The charging time is normal rather than quick (such as when using a quick charger). The construction is average. If you prefer using an OEM charger in the car then this is it.

The item pictured in the ad is not the same as the one sent. The phone plug will not engage and must be held in manually to charge my E71. 12v end plugs in but is obvious shoddy manufacture and finish, as is the cord. No matter, though, since phone plug renders it useless. Everything about it conveys, "NOT NOKIA". Not worth the trouble of sending back or pursuing with Reiko just to recoup "shipping" charge. Typical China-made junk. Had exact same plug issue with Radio Shack version, also. Difference there was they didnt have the obvious cheap price/bogus shipping charge scheme. They just sell you the junk and charge a lot to boot.

Spal Magsafe 85w Car Adapter Charger for Macbook Pro 15" 17" Notebook, with Extra Usb Slot to Charge

Spal Magsafe 85w Car Adapter Charger for Macbook Pro 15' 17' Notebook, with Extra Usb Slot to Charge Ipad, iphone Etc Other DeviceAs an Amateur (Ham) Radio (K6OL) and Navy MARS (NNN0BJB) Operator, this car charger for my MacBook Pro is a "MUST HAVE." Now I don't have to worry about where the nearest power source will be at the end of my 10 hour battery life on my MacBook Pro. Now I'm able to use my MacBook Pro 'in the field' as long as I need. Once I plugged it in, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that there were NO power surges, or a noticeable drain (however sight) on the internal battery after it was plugged into my vehicle's power source.

Secondly, I was impressed that the order was processed and shipped promptly. I was even more pleasantly surprised to receive the package TWO days sooner than what I was initially informed by the automated system @ Amazon.com.

Frankly, I'm a bit perplexed when I recall my numerous conversations I've had with the Tech Support 'geeks' at APPLE and the APPLE STORE, and Best Buy. Not one person (including supervisors) knew anything about any product that would allow me to operate my MacBook from a 12 v power source OTHER than a 12 VDC to 110 VAC converter which is not only dangerous (fire hazard) but a complete waste of power.

Yes, this was my first order from Amazon. NO, I do not work for them nor was paid or had any incentives offered for my review.

I look forward to ordering through this venue again and hope I have the same experience.

Merry Christmas folks!

Ed

I wasn't sure if it really would work with my MacBook Pro but it fits perfect and charges the battery.

  • Full-graphic backlit display with contrast adjustment, backlight timer, and provides battery gauge
  • Digital group call capabilities include public-group calling up to 5 public groups; 2 default public groups (channel 1, public 1-2)

Bought a pair of these radios during a US vacation. Range is practically at par with those common FRS/GMRS radios, don't expect more, especially not outside of a building. Inside larger buildings, the Motorola DTR410 really rocks, range is very good, even over a couple of floors. What makes this radio better than the cheaper FRS/GMRS is the quality of the communication between the units. It really sounds very well, no distortion, very loud and clear and without any noise/chatter. I also love the fact that the radio shows you if the other radio is in range. This is a fantastic feature which I have never seen on FRS/GMRS radios. The build quality is also absolutely great and the radio is very robust and rugged.

So if you are using your two way radio mainly in larger buildings/structures like hotels, malls, cruise ships, etc., the Motorola DTR410 is really great. If you need a two way radio for outdoor activities, a GMRS radio might offer a greater range in the open field.

Since using the DTR410 for almost a year now, I never looked back (former FRS/GMRS radios).

Highly recommended but not cheap. You get what you pay for though.

This two way radio is good for a big open site and small buildings, but for larger concrete building structures, they do not communicate well as the specifications state. Has good features overall, but could not communicate with them throughout a relatively large reinforced concrete building.

I tested a pair of these radios against a pair of 4 watt UHF portables and the range of these radios was a lot further. I belive it is due to the fact that these radios operate on 900mhz and are digital.

Want Motorola DTR410 Digital On-Site Two-Way Radio Discount?

Do not purchase this radio unless you plan to use it indoors, like inside a warehouse, a store, or a mid-size work place. I bought a pair of the DTR650's, which is the same as the DTR410, but with a better antenna (supposedly). The furthest I was able to talk to the other radio was only about three blocks. That is terrible for a radio that costs over $250.

You will also need to learn to use the special menu features to program it and select your contacts. You need to choose the people that you need to talk to. You also need to give each radio a name or alias (unless you want to keep your default 123456789 number to identify yourself in other caller ID's), and you can only change your user or radio name with programming software from your PC. The software is great and it's free, but you'll need to purchase the programming cable to connect the radios to the PC. This cable is NOT a USB cable; it's a serial DB9 cable. Who the heck still uses DB9 serial cables, Motorola???!!!

Also, these are cereal box-quality radios. They feel very light, like a toy walkie talkie you would buy for your kids. For this design, Motorola basically took a small Nextel phone or a cordless phone that operates in the 900 MHz range and put it inside this big cheap plastic radio housing.

I'm going back to my Motorola RDM series and use their scramble technology for privacy, thank you very much... I can get at least a mile and a half distance with them, and I know they're going to last longer.

Save 21% Off

There is about half second delay in speech, so you have to wait extra before you can start talking. Very weird. Also, sometimes when I pushed the PTT button the radio wouldn't connect to the other one. I'd have to let go the button for a couple of seconds and then retry. Returning them back to the seller today. Not impressed.

The wires appear to be heavy gauge enough for the anticipated currents.

The plastic is not flimsy or brittle.

The plastic appears to be stable at higher temperatures.

I did not expect to be able to plug a lighter unit into the duplexer

but,

This thing looks like it might survive.

If one uses the USB ports for nominal devices (~ 1 amp loads), one could expect to plug addition power adapters into the sockets up to 2 amps each).

Consult your vehicles manuals.

and/or

Crawl under the dashboard and size the lighter fuse.

If you parallel more loads than the lighter itself was designed to draw, you may well pop a fuse.

I still would not expect this thing to melt.

Bought this item for power station for motorcycle. Got everything wired in today, unit was wired in tandem with micro stereo for bike. Upon making final connection the unit instantly smoked, no pop, no sound just smoke. Unhooked power double checked all connections. The micro stereo, which is a lot more sensitive than charger still works great, go figure. After double and triple checking all connection, I can still figure a cause for failure. Excepy poor quality of unit.
