  • Soft start, surge protection, auto-shut down protects your device and the inverter from the overheating, over load , low load, short circuit, low voltage and over voltage.

I bought this after my previous cheap quality inverter burned down after my jacket zipper short circuited the power. The problem with the previous one was that it had a lot of exposed surfaces.

What I like about this:

(1) Works very well charged laptop, cell phone ... so far so good

(2) Corded, instead of plugged this will keep it safe as well as a good utility since I can reach it to power a laptop in the rear seats

(3) Single unit with both 110v as well as 12v USB power so I can charge my laptop as well as iphone at the same time

(4) Safe, enclosed unit

(5) Cool, has a inbuilt fan which keeps switching on/off a couple of times whenever it needs to cool off the fan is pretty silent, you can hear it only when your car is parked

Nice package, pretty quiet I wasn't having any problems with this little inverter... until the fan developed a loud whine on startup. Okay I'm willing to cut it some slack, it was still putting out good power and the sound faded fairly quickly...

And then it wouldn't fade out. It sounds like the fan bearings have gone, after less than four months.

I can't say I'd recommend this unit but it's better than no inverter at all. And seeing the fan noise didn't start for a couple of months you're probably okay using this in a short-term situation. I don't know if it's a problem with this model, or if I just got lucky but I wouldn't get a second unless I was really hard up for power.

The charger works fine and like the fact that it has two USB ports and and an AC plug. It does get a little noisy at first when it is plugged in but not a big deal after a while or if you have music playing. The item feel very sturdy and well built and a little on the pricey side for what it is but it works well.

Retractable Rapid Car Charger with IC Chip for LG Banter

Retractable Rapid Car Charger with IC Chip for LG Banterthis charger is not made very well. the wire broke and it failed to retract the first time I tried to use it. I sent the company an e-mail and they sent me a new one immediately. they did not even ask for the old one back. the new one works but you need to be careful with it because the wire is so thin.

Yhis retractable cable worked great. I no longer use it since I've changed phones. This was worth the price to have a small retractable cable for auto use.

Kensington Travel Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone and iPod touch (Black)

Kensington Travel Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone and iPod touch
  • Compatibility: iPod mini; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G; iPod classic 1G, 2G, 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch 1G, 2G; iPhone 1G, 3G, 3GS, 4
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery for iPhone featuring all-in-one design
  • Built-in dock connector to charge your iPhone and flip-out USB tip to recharge without the mess of extra cables
  • Extends play time up to 23 hours music, up to 7 hours of video and up to 5 hours of talk time
  • LED battery gauge displays remaining battery pack power level

We bought this product for our iPhone 3G and it worked fine. However, we noticed that the battery would drain very quickly when we plugged it into the iPhone 4 that we recently purchased. I confirmed with Kensington that this item is not compatible with iPhone 4, so I thought I'd share this in case you are looking for a battery charger for your iPhone 4. Otherwise, it works great with the other generations of iPhone. Kensington did mention that a charger may be available for iPhone soon, but they wouldn't/couldn't advise as to when such an item will be available.

Buy Kensington Travel Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone and iPod touch (Black) Now

I bought the battery right before a trans-Atlantic flight. The battery is small enough to fit in your pocket, but powerful enough to last all day. During the flight I watched 5 hours of video (2 feature movies), then listened to music while playing games for another 2 hours. All of this and the battery was only down 1 (of 5) LED's!!! This is on top of "topping off" my phone's internal battery from 80% to 100%. The music + games had previously drained my phone's battery on a 4 hour flight.

In addition to the long life of the battery, it's also endowed with 2 other great features. First, it is designed to let you watch video landscape mode, a big plus. Second, the built-in USB charging capability is great... it avoids the need to carry extra cables (assuming you have a USB device with you on the trip).

For the record, I use the battery on a iPhone 3G 16GB edition.

I met the Kensington rep at an event where he was showing the Travel Battery Pack and Charger to a group of us. I've used a number of other plug in batteries, but this one has a lot more juice for a compact package. The bonus is that I can watch movies on the plane while I'm charging my phone. Works great and USB connector means I don't have to carry an extra cable.

Want Kensington Travel Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone and iPod touch (Black) Discount?

I'll cut to the chase: Lifesaver. Fits in a pocket, provides a full charge on the spot and on the go, plug-and-play simple (no cords; plugs right into the dock connector on the iPhone). For an iPhone junkie like me, this is mandatory equipment. Plus, it charges any iPod with a dock connector, so I use it for my kids' iPod Touch units, as well. Indeed, it's tempting to buy one for each pocket in every jacket, shirt, pants, and shorts I own. I know, obsessive. But if you're reading reviews of back-up iPhone chargers, you, too, have already crossed that line. The only downside is that you have to remember to charge it once you use it, because needing an emergency charger for your emergency charger is not a happy moment. But, really, this is the best use of $40 an iPhone user can make. So stop reading. Buy.

Ok, I bought one about 3 weeks ago, it barely charged the iphone once before saying that there was no charge left so I assumed it was faulty and bought another one (as the old model worked great). Unfortunately same thing. It charges the iphone 4 for about 15 minutes until there is about 3/4 of the iphone charged, and then the blue bars go from 4 or 5 to nothing and it has to be completely recharged. This item is absolutely worthless for the iphone 4. I havent tried it with another iPhone but again, their previous model seemed to work much much better and would recharge my iphone at least 3 full charges.

Car Charger (CLA) for Huawei Ascend

Car Charger for Huawei AscendI ordered this to help me charge my Huawei Ascend Android phone. It's a little more than a year old but still operates well and I frequently use google maps and navigation with it, but the battery life is terrible when you do anything like make calls, use the GPS or the 3G network for anything.

I needed a way to charge my phone on the job as a delivery driver so I could have unlimited use of the phone, and this charger worked perfectly for me. Red light on the unit indicates when it's got proper contact/connection with the vehicle's lighter adapter, and the phone always recognized that and charged while on the go. Saved me a lot of hassle and kept my phone going, when otherwise I'd have limited use during heavy days of needing lots of directions and making lots of calls to supervisors and customers and coworkers to coordinate daily plans and deal with problems.

If you need a cheap charger, this one works just fine. If there's any down-sides, haven't noticed them yet.

It works just as well as the one you would normally spend $20 for at the sales location. Why would anyone go any other route.

Roadpro 12V Battery Clip-On and Cigarette Lighter Adapter

Roadpro 12V Battery Clip-On and Cigarette Lighter AdapterIn all four previous reviews and in the product description there is no mention on how long these cables are! In the picture they look pretty long, and you would think length would be a primary concern. So, from the back of the product packaging, once I received the product, here you are: 2 Feet long, 14-gauge wire.

I bought this to use with a Vivair air compressor that draws about 15A. It will work off some accessory sockets, my bimmer works for instance, but not for very long without the engine running. In my truck, the amp draw is high for the accessory socket and it is only active with the engine running. This is a bit of a pain when you want to check and air up your tires. So I clip this to the battery terminals and I am good to go. The clips are not huge but work fine for me and the construction overall is fine. It is nothing very fancy but it is well worth the modest price IMHO.

Buy Roadpro 12V Battery Clip-On and Cigarette Lighter Adapter Now

I bought this cable to go along with the viair 85P portable air compressor, that way I didn't blow fuses.

As soon as I opened the cable, I noticed it was only a couple feet long, which is not very long, but I was happy anyway.. The clamps also don't open up far enough to connect to a battery terminal securely.

I took it outside and plugged it up to my compressor, popped the hood of my car and as soon as I opened the clamp the positive wire fell out of the clamp.

Once I inspected the wire and the clamp, you could clearly see there was almost NO solder on the wire, and what little bit was on it was a "cold joint". The cable was also not crimped to the clamp like it was suppose to be (it looks like someone forgot to crimp it) , which is another reason it came apart.

I went ahead and pulled the sleeve off the negative clamp and noticed it WAS crimped (unlike the positive clamp), but the solder was also very little and cold-jointed.

Both clamps were also forming rust around the solder connections where the wire goes.

LUCKY FOR ME, I own a soldering station, so I disassembled both clamps, cleaned up the rust, re-soldered them on PROPERLY and THEN crimped them. They work perfect now and should never come loose again.

This is the first time I've ever rated a product 1 star, but when it literally falls apart as soon as you remove it from the box , it deserves 1 star.

I'm just glad I wasn't stuck somewhere on the road with a flat when it fell apart on me. Luckily I ALWAYS test my equipment before I rely on it for emergency use.

I wouldn't recommend this product unless you own a soldering iron and want to take the gamble of fixing it yourself or returning it to amazon.

EDIT: I bought another set of these cables, and they were properly crimped and soldered, I will upgrade my rating from 1 star to 2 stars, but RoadPro needs to improve their Quality Control.

Read Best Reviews of Roadpro 12V Battery Clip-On and Cigarette Lighter Adapter Here

Works as advertised. The little clamps should be much bigger the same size as what you have on light duty jumper cables. This way they would connect securely. Also, the short wire supplied should be a tad thicker. Main concern and 4 stars is b/c of the clamps being small and not very secure on battery terminals.

Want Roadpro 12V Battery Clip-On and Cigarette Lighter Adapter Discount?

Very handy to toss in the trunk. Using this will protect your ciggy lighter socket that could get overloaded. Every car should have one. I use it for an air pump and a very powerful camp light.

Note, most lighter plugs are limited to around 10 amps by fuse or circuit breaker in addition they have long run of small (higher resistance) wire to the jack which 'may' cause a voltage drop to your equipment.

Short of 'hard wiring directly' this is the next best thing.

This has none of that and of course it's the same as hooking directly to the battery so know what you are doing (sparks, load, polarity, fingers)...

You might also want to pick up a heavy duty male to female ciggy plug extension cord...

LG Vehicle Power Adapter for LG GW820, LG700, VX8575, GT950, and LG100

LG Vehicle Power Adapter for LG GW820, LG700, VX8575, GT950, and LG100I just don't trust aftermarket chargers. Maybe they're good enough, but maybe not. I'd rather spend a little extra and know that I've got a charger that won't screw up the battery in my phone. I use this with my LG Optimus V and it works very well.

I ordered this charger/adapter after the aftermarket adapter burnt out. The ersatz charger took hours to charge my phone in the car. The LG adapter charges up in just a fraction of that time. It cost a little more , but to me it was well worth it.

Duracell DU8001 High Quality Durable USB Car Charger - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - Black

Duracell DU8001 High Quality Durable USB Car Charger - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - BlackI had to use a Samsung SGH-A167 phone for a while. I needed a car adapter and bought the Duracell DU5211, which is this model without the wall adapter. (The SGH-A167 was offered as an AT&T GoPhone prepaid phone.)

This unit includes a universal cable and three tips which I assume fit various Samsung models. I only used one.

It works OK and charges promptly. No problems there. The cigarette lighter adapter has a small green LED so you know it is connected.

The only issue so far is that the tip does not quite correctly fit the Samsung SGH-A167 plug...it sticks out slightly. I think the edge could be trimmed easily with a Dremel tool, file, or sandpaper if one was careful.

No other issues. No outstanding features, but it worked as advertised. Four stars.

The product itself is fantastic, unfortunately the one I ordered was missing a part but my payment was promptly refunded to me. If there were additional ones available at the time of the return I would not have hesitated to order replacement. I did find the product elswhere howver and it is a fantastic univeral charging solution. In addition to having the tip that I needed, it also had a mini USB tip. So basically this charger will work from car, home, and USB port, and because of the extra tips fitting other needs of mine, it replaces chargers for my tablet (primanry reason I bought it), my cell phone, and my GPS.

I love the charger. It's lasted me a while now and it's super convenient. I can use any USB cable in the car or at home. But, beware on the the cable. It doesn't sync for one, which is a total bummer. Then, after only about 4 months it stopped working. While this is a great charger, make sure you have a good iPod/iPhone cable because this does not include a quality one.

I bought one of these on the road when I forgot my charger. It stood up to 3 years of abuse but finally kicked the bucket. Bought this one as a replacement. They have really improved the design. It has a slightly smaller form factor. I really like the different charging heads that screw into the main USB cable. We will see how it holds up long term, but I'm confident it will take the worst I can dish out.

CyberPower CPS150CHI AC Mobile Power Inverter/Converter, 12VDC to 120VAC, 150W, Cup-Mount

CyberPower CPS150CHI AC Mobile Power Inverter/Converter, 12VDC to 120VAC, 150W, Cup-MountI've owned this device for over a year and it's great. Use it for laptops and cell phone chargers with no problems. Stays much cooler than our previous inverter.

Update 6/2009: Bummer. It burned up. Plugged it in one day and within seconds smoke was pouring out. Had to throw it out of the car and let it cool off before sending it to the electronics recycler. Scary. Amazon won't let me change the rating, but generally I would give burning electronic devices no more than one star.

One of the attractions of this item is that it has two inputs: a regular mains AC socket and a cigarette lighter socket. In essence, this means you can power two things at once. That's a frequent requirement in my car so this item appeared ideal...or so I thought.

There are a couple of issues with it. First, as others have noted, it does seem to shut off quite quickly when you're powering a laptop. In my case, it could be anything from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. The second flaw is that the cigarette lighter socket on this device is about 2 inches (5cm) long. Some devices have shorter adapters than others and the shorter ones won't fit into the socket on this device because the adapter can't reach the contacts in the socket.

So, for example, this kind of item will work just fine:

Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter P510 Original (OEM) 89144 / SPN5401 for Motorola Razr V3, V3a, V3c, V3i, V3m, V3t, V3r, V3xx, Q, W315, RIZR Z3, KRZR K1, KRZR K1M, W385, MOTOROKR Z6m (Retail Package)

This kind of item will probably not work with it:

BlackBerry 12V/24V Automotive Charger

Finally, it's described as having a "Cup-Mount". All this means in reality is that it's narrow enough to fit into a cup holder. If you want an item that is actually designed for a cup holder, take a look at this:

PowerLine 0900-66 200-Watt Coffee Cup Inverter with USB Charging Port and Two Outlets

I shall be returning this item because of its poor performance and flawed design. I've still given it two stars because your mileage may vary depending upon the adapters/devices you want to use with it.

Worth a look but there are probably better-designed inverters out there.

I took back the one to Best Buy and got mine from Amazon in just a couple of days. I bought this primarily to use in our car for powering our Gateway & Toshiba laptops on road trips. As opposed to some power adapters which have various tips for various brands of computers, this is great in that if offers the versatility of being able to plug other AC items as well. A little large and the cords are a bit short, but I didn't think is was annoyingly loud.

Schumacher SC-1200A SpeedCharge 12/8/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Starter/Tester

Schumacher SC-1200A SpeedCharge 12/8/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Starter/TesterForgetting to remove the negative connector before storing my vehicle for the winter; the internal sytems and alarm drained the battery, and of course it was sulfated. This unit worked like a charm. The battery was down to 8 volts/15%. The SC-1200a properly began to charge, then desulfate, and slowly was able to get the battery back to 98% before I removed it to start the car. This took approximately 17 hours (700 CCA Battery), which isn't bad for a dead/sulfated battery using a charger costing less than $50. The plus is you can use it to maintain your battery on a vehicle you do not drive much. Keeping your battery charged above 98% can greatly extend the life. How long it will the charger last running 24/7? ...I do not know yet. I have only had it maintaining the battery for 3 weeks, but still no problems. It does have a cooling fan which probably should be cleaned/vacuumed occaisionally; and I've never felt the unit being hot to touch. Not sure what problem the first reveiwer had, or if the unit he had was defective or dropped before he purchased it. For a $50 charger which maintains and also desulfates a battery, you cannot beat it.

Stay far, far, far, away from this charger. I walked away from tested, good, low charge battery being charged on the 8amp setting connected to a 750CCA regular car battery and when I came back a couple hours later it was boiling and still trying to charge! I checked the charge voltage and it was at 16 volts (measured with a Fluke meter)! Bad, very bad, charger and not automatic or smart at all.

Buy Schumacher SC-1200A SpeedCharge 12/8/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Starter/Tester Now

I was hoping to find the Schumacher model 7000A 2/20 Amp charger to review, but this 1200A is just a variation on the same thing. Looks identical too. After reading bad reviews of Schumacher and Vector it's clear these companies can't do anything right. Seems any product that has a microprocessor is programmed by the incompetent. Let me tell you about Schumacher speed chargers.

They won't charge batteries that don't already have a significant charge. If your battery drops below 10 to 11 volts, forget it. You'd have to have a manual battery charger as backup for when this won't charge, which eliminates the need for this thing in the first place. The explanation from the company is that the charger has to feed off the voltage in the battery, blah, blah. The purpose of a battery charger is to charge batteries, period. Then I was lied to by the tech and told if I hold down a certain combination of buttons when plugging the unit in, it would go into manual 2A mode (where the processor doesn't decide it won't charge your battery), but I sat there on the phone with him doing just as he said, and turns out no such feature exists. The manual doesn't mention anything like that either.

The charger is totally unpredictable. It almost always goes into desulfate mode. It has never completed a charge after coming out of desulfate mode, but ends in an error. Needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to start charging again to "completion". However completion doesn't seem to get the battery to 100% power, more like 80%, if that. Sometimes it won't charge at 20A and drops down to 2A. Don't know why. And according to the manual, desulfate mode can take up to 10 hours. So much for speed charge. Need to get into your car and go somewhere? Well you may need to wait until the next day.

It has a retain mode where the charger can sit there and monitor your battery and charge when needed. Figured I'd just leave the thing on my car almost permanently. But those who programmed the thing don't understand setting upper and lower thresholds. What it should do is charge up to the upper threshold, then when the battery drops below the lower, it charges to the upper again. I therefore expected it to turn on once a day or whatever. Instead it's turning on and off every several seconds, with the fan and relay clicking on and off. That's a good way to ware out the unit in no time.

It has a 70A engine start feature just incase you don't have enough juice to quite start your car, but if the battery is low enough where the charger won't charge it, the engine start feature won't work either.

My last car battery was probably only 1.5 years old before it wouldn't even take a charge. I'm beginning to suspect the damn charger might be responsible. When going into desulfate mode for instance, I see the voltage climb up to well over 16 volts. I don't know if that's good for the battery.

The simple act of charging a battery can be turned into a stressful nightmare with this crappy charger. Stay far away from Schumacher. It's clear they can't build a realiable charger, nor does it appear they've actually tried out their own products before dumping them onto the public.

Odyssey PC1200MJT Automotive and LTV Battery

Odyssey PC1200MJT Automotive and LTV BatteryI installed a sealed Optima Red Top 35-910 in my car. The Optima failed, was replaced under warranty, and then the replacement failed, as well. The Optimas did poorly in cold weather and wouldn't hold a recharge.

I purchased an Odyssey PC1200MJT because I need a more reliable sealed battery.

The Odyssey is just a bit smaller in overall size than the Optima, but apparently has more total plate size due to its conventional configuration.

The Odyssey has done well so far, but it is the warm season, so I cannot speak to cold weather performance.

However, the specs for the Odyssey are excellent. It is claimed to accept hundreds of charges without a problem (deep cycle), and to handle very cold conditions extremely well.

In regard to the purchase experience, this is the first time after several years of excellent service that I have been disappointed with Amazon.

The Odyssey qualified for Free Shipping, but I needed it sooner than the typical 5 7 days, so I paid an additional $27.00 for expedited shipping. My order clearly stated the total price including expedited shipping, but UPS showed 7 day shipping anyway! I don't know if this was the result of a technical error or what, but I contacted Amazon immediately. Amazon did nothing to correct the problem and would not refund the additional shipping fee! Delivery took a full week.

As Amazon has proven unreliable, I will look elsewhere before making a purchase from now on.

I purchased my first Odyssey PC1200-MJT seven years back at a good deal from a major racing parts shop (S) I've dealt with for years for a low mileage 1979 Berlinetta Camaro I own. I needed a battery that would not eat another inner fender and battery tray out again like a brand new Walmart battery had done in only six months time. The Camaro was only driven about 20 miles once a year and its electrical system was perfect, but that didn't stop that 6 month old battery from destroying the Camaro's battery tray and inner fender liner at great cost to me. To say the least, I was really angry and determined this would never happen again.

I had read about the Odyssey MJT batteries and liked what I saw metal jacketed, sealed brass top post connections, small size per CCA, CAN BE MOUNTED IN ANY POSITION WITHOUT SPILLS. Battery life was also 6-8 years (with good care) in the factory literature, and I had seen reviews of it having lasted as long as 12 years and no, only using and charging a battery for twenty miles driving once a year is not good care. Okay, those specs and reviews softened the steep initial price considerably to which I added a new Odyssey Billet Aluminum Battery Mount of the correct size. Mounted in place, the new battery looked great. It fit the bill, as I needed something that could be left in the tight confines of the Camaro as moving the batteries in and out of my other antique vehicles wasn't as difficult.

Forging ahead, over the next seven years I still didn't drive the Camaro more than 20 miles once a year. But this time there was never so much as any wiring corrosion. In fact, the PC1200-MJT still looked brand new after removing it and wiping it off with some spray window cleaner with a cloth. Yes, after seven years there was a reason for removing it it was quite dead and had failed to start my stored Camaro for the first time. I removed a new battery from my '85 Pontiac Trans Am and started the Camaro driving it a while and checking everything before storing it again. Not knowing if the Odyssey battery here would hold a charge anymore after seven years, I took my time trying to bring it back up with a large NAPA industrial charger I had owned for many years. After a number of hours of close monitoring, I finally got the Odyssey up from a 20% charge to a small cranking charge. I also knew I needed a charger that would properly charge this AGM Odyssey battery without such close monitoring as my NAPA charger was not designed for AGM batteries and could easily overheat and destroy them. So, I purchased a Schumacher charger designed for AGM batteries and let it do its thing for several days. The new charger brought this Odyssey even further back to better health but I did notice it slightly heated the Odyssey while charging. Although it was very slight heating, that's not a particularly good thing for any sealed type battery. But, the PC1200-MJT was sufficiently recharged for good use.

Having a number of antique vehicles with AGM, sealed lead acid, and standard lead acid batteries, I started checking out what else was available in new chargers I could leave hooked up for longer periods of time on stored vehicles. I found the BatteryMINDer line and purchased one (12151) that could be mounted under the hood permanently one that would also desulfate and charge any style battery. I mounted the new 12151 charger with this old Odyssey battery into my '85 Trans Am. It offered full-time desulfation at a maximum of 1.5 amperes charge rate. The TA has a high horsepower small block 406 and a sound system of over 600 RMS watts (well over 1000 watts total). It also has a 140 ampere alternator to keep the power up when two Kenwood stereo amplifiers hit high power levels. So, I wanted the Odyssey PC1200-MJT back to 100% capacity if possible.

In the first few days of using the new BatteryMINDer, with the charger and engine off and the stereo on, I noticed the PC1200MJT battery would lose power fairly quick until I switched off the stereo while there was still enough power to start the 10.25:1 compression engine. After some weeks on the BatteryMINDer 12151, I checked the health of my PC1200-MJT again. After a 12 hour rest (charger disconnected), the battery was showing the same performance as a new battery 12.84 volts as the Odyssey paperwork stated for a battery charged to 100%. I noticed the stereo system could now play much longer with the engine off without apparently pulling the battery down. I could also see the PC1200-MJT AGM battery was charging back very quickly after starting the engine much faster than the previous new sealed Delco had ever recharged in the TA, and proving to me this Odyssey AGM battery recharges much faster by comparison. I already knew it held a charge longer without charging, proving the Odyssey stated longer shelf life.

Okay, I also purchased more new BatteryMINDer chargers after seeing so much first hand with repeated checks using an Amprobe digital volt/ampere meter. The chargers (12151 and a new 12248) have restored all my batteries, including one 13 year old diesel tractor battery that had been sitting around dead for years. But, aside from that, I've seen the quality of the Odyssey when a seven year old battery can be returned to like new electrical condition after reaching its expected service life in years. The military specs of the Odyssey also concerns more than the sealed metal jacket on this battery. It concerns how strong the battery is internally, and that tells me the battery is still physically in good shape internally especially after I did some load testing and saw how quickly the battery recovered. Any lead acid battery can be internally destroyed quickly from vibration (or heavy loads) the Odyssey is designed to take much more than others.

I also have a PC925-MJT in an antique 1957 Ford tractor, and another PC1200-MJT in another vehicle all are performing great. I bought the second two Odyssey batteries after having only seen the strengths of the PC1200-MJT after only a few years of use. A bad charging system (now repaired) on the old tractor took the brand new PC925-MJT down to 50% and a no start condition before I found the problem. The charging system was showing a proper charge in volts, but was supplying no amperes. Once repaired, and after the PC925-MJT had spent a short amount of time on another BatteryMINDer, it too came back to its brand new specs. Because of this, I now use BatteryMINDer desulfating chargers on all of my stored vehicle batteries. Obviously, you get what you pay for with the Odyssey as it is designed much stronger throughout than any other automotive battery especially the MJT series and Extreme series by Odyssey.

These Odyssey MJT batteries are almost bullet proof and well worth the money even if given almost no care. All you really need is a healthy charging system and to charge/desulfate them once in a while as needed. Oh, and the MJT stands for Metal Jacketed Top post. From what I'm seeing, my Odyssey batteries may outlast me if cared for properly with the proper BatteryMINDer desulfator/charger while not in use. The top terminals can also be easily adapted to side post wiring connections with no fear of wiring corrosion since the Odyssey batteries are completely sealed. Just be sure to order the proper battery size, terminal placement, and amperage for your application. Some might confuse the 1200 in this model to mean 1200 CCA but this battery actually supplies 550 CCA @ 0 degress Fahrenheit (725 CCA @ 32 degrees Fahrenheit). This is still more than enough for my Camaro or my Trans Am, even though the factory batteries were rated 600-700 CCA, as the Odyssey has a proven much faster charge recycle time than other batteries, provides greater power on initial high loads such as engine starting, and has a 70% greater life cycle. This is much like a deep cycle boat battery and an automotive starting battery combined. You get the best of both worlds with better vibration resistance to boot using this Odyssey. That alone makes it worth more than other batteries. My Trans Am's amplifier system can quickly reduce a standard starting battery to almost nothing and in no time that standard battery would be worthless (internally shorted and burned open circuits). The Odyssey takes it in stride. Need a battery that is able to withstand the pressures of racing year after year for a race car? Get yourself an Odyssey MJT and forget worrying. They don't leak and they are tough as nails.

I bought this as a starting battery for a Kohler home standby generator.

I bought it primarily because my experience with Sears Di Hard batteries was that they failed much too often after too short a time.

I cannot give an honest review at this time because while the Odyssey is supposed to offer a long and dependable service life, it has only recently been put to use.

Though initially expensive, I bought it because it is promoted as being of military grade and rated high for reliability.

I have Odyssey Batteries in most of my other cars, so when my Wife and I bought a new Z06, I began to think about an Odyssey for that, but when I looked at the catalog on the Odyssey web site, I saw that the Odyssey Battery which fits in the rear battery compartment of a C6 Z06 is not an exact fit and that the ".... vehicle battery restraint(s) may require modification."

I also noted that the dimensions of the Odyssey Battery (PN PC1200MJ) suggested for use in C6 Z06 were somewhat smaller than the stock battery and that the CCA rating of the Odyssey was slightly less, 590 vs 550. I contacted the folks at EnerSys, the maker of the Odyssey brand, and was told the modification to the battery hold down, if necessary would be minor. I also asked about the vent hose which connects to a stock battery to carry away battery fumes. This prompted a response from Kalyan Jana, Product Manager of AGM Products for EnerSys, the company which manufactures and markets Odyssey batteries. He told me, "Odyssey batteries do not require a venting system and therefore the PC1200MJT does not have a connection for the hose. As long as the battery is not installed in a gastight enclosure no special venting arrangements are necessary for any Odyssey battery."

One of the reasons I've become a fan of the Odyssey Battery is its very high pulse cranking current output. in short, "pulse cranking output" is not the same as "cold cranking amps" (CCA) and is a very high current draw for a short period while the engine is cranked during the starting sequence. Pulse cranking is usually defined as lasting five seconds. The LS7 in a Z06 has a very high compression ratio for a production engine and the battery is in the back of the car, at the end of a long cable run. Both those characteristics demand a battery capable of high pulse cranking current output. In that context, I, also, questioned Jana about the difference in CCA ratings and he responded, "The answer lies in how CCA is defined, which is: a 30-second discharge at 0ºF. Unless the user is planning to actually discharge the battery at 0ºF for 30 seconds, the CCA rating of a battery is pretty meaningless. What is of paramount importance in an engine cranking application is the number of amps a battery can deliver for 3-5 seconds (ie: pulse cranking amps) to get that engine turning rapidly. In that respect, an Odyssey battery will significantly outperform an OEM battery that is physically much larger."

As it turns out Delco does not rate it's batteries for pulse cranking amps but Odyssey does. The pulse hot cranking amps (PHCA) rating of the Odyssey PC1200 MJ is 1200-amps for five seconds. I decided to order a PC1200MJ and test it out.

So, how does the Odyssey PC1200MJ work in the real world? Well, first off, you don't have to modify anything to install it in a Z06. While the battery is a little smaller in length, its height is the same as the stock battery so the stock battery hold-down in a Z06 works fine. No modifications are necessary. Because the battery box in the back of a Z is so small, lifting a battery in and out is easier if you have one of those rubber strap battery carriers which attaches to the battery posts but, you can remove and replace the battery by hand if you have a strong grip.

Odysseys are shipped fully charged. I installed the battery, then let the car sit a week before I tried starting it. In spite of not having a charger connected either upon installation or after a week, the cranking speed was, perhaps, 10-20% faster than it was with the original battery. One characteristic which concerned me with the C6 Z06 was the LS7's somewhat slow cranking speed compared to the LS6 in my 2004. Going to the Odyssey battery solved that problem for sure!

The other reason I like Odyssey batteries is they have a long service life, usually 5-7 years and sometimes as much as ten years. Also, they are more tolerant of "deep cycles" (where you run the battery dead, then fully recharge it) than are most conventional battery designs, such as the OE ACDelcos. Thought I've not tested the deep cycle tolerance with the battery in my new Z06, I have run an Odyssey dead and charged it up several times in my 71 Coupe with no ill effects to date. Now that car uses a larger Odyssey, a PC 1500, but the engineering and materials used in of those two are the same only the sizes differ.

There's a downside to the Odyssey PC 1200 and that's weight. The Odyssey weighs about 4 lbs or about 10% more than the stock ACDelco. Hardcore racers might no like that, but I'll take the extra weight in exchange for the Odyssey's better performance and durability.

USB DC-DC 3V to 5V 1A Adjustable Power Supply Boost Module

USB DC-DC 3V to 5V 1A Adjustable Power Supply Boost ModuleThis unit will run on a single AA battery up to 3 AA batteries, C, or D cells... When I first tried using it I received the "Illegal Charger" message from several phones. After doing some research the Dand D+ pins need to be shorted together (little blob of solder between the two inside pins on the module does the trick) this tells the USB device that it is a Dedicated Charger Port (dumb wall charger for charging USB devices). The lower the input voltage the higher the current draw i.e. a single AA battery will work very hard and get extremely hot. I ultimately wound up using 3 C cell batteries in a 4 C cell battery box and mounted the boost module in where the fourth battery would go. With three C cells it can charge up an HTC smartphone to about 35 to 40% charge (about one hour) if the phone is turned off. After the blue LED goes out the unit is in scavenge mode and can draw as much as 3 amps out of the batteries (this makes AA batteries get really hot and split open thus the use of C cells). I would recommend changing the batteries when the blue LED goes out and it is still under load if you remove the load (unplug your phone) the blue LED goes out normally. So far I can charge a first generation NOOK, Blackberry Bold, Motorola DROID RAZR M (the very limit of this device's ability), and an HTC EVO 4g LTE (also the very limit).

Bottom line I recommend at least 3 batteries in series so your as close to 5 volts as possible and the unit doesn't work as hard also larger size batteries like C or D cells especially if your charging smartphones which are power hogs. If your going to charge iPhones or iPods I would recommend looking up the Mintyboost by Lady Ada as you will have to put 2.0 volts on the Dand D+ pins for the iDevices to charge properly and she has an excellent write up on it.

TomTom A/C Power Charger for GO and Rider Navigators (9D00.006)

TomTom A/C Power Charger for GO and Rider Navigators
  • A/C wall charger for Rider and GO series navigators
  • Includes three different A/C wall adapters
  • Works in continental Europe, the UK and the USA
  • Keeps your navigator's battery charged wherever you go

I purchased this adaptor because the listing said it worked with all Tom Tom GPS navigators. To my surprise it did not fit my Tom Tom One GPS navigator and I ended up breaking the end of the adaptor trying to force it in.

Look up the USB wall adaptor for the Tom Tom One and save the frustration of ordering the wrong adaptor.

Ordered this as a replacement charger (my aunt lost the home charger to her Tom Tom). I think it's a little silly that the unit cannot charge through USB, but perhaps it is too much to ask. Anyways, the product works perfectly with my current Tom Tom and although I don't have the other non-American standard plugs to test, I'm sure the adapters work perfectly as well.

I purchased the charger based on Amazon's recommendation that others who purchased a Tom Tom 910 GPS, also purchased the charger. When I received the Tom Tom model 910, I found that a home charger was included with the GPS. When I returned from my European trip, I tried to return the unit to Amazon for credit but found that Amazon would not accept returns after 30 days. Now I'm stuck with an extra home charger.

Naztech Energy Holster for Apple iPhone 4 - Holster - Retail Packaging - Black

Naztech Energy Holster for Apple iPhone 4 - Holster - Retail Packaging - BlackI had a Naztech holster for my Iphone 3G and was very happy to see Naztech had brought out a battery holster for the Iphone 4. The Iphone 4 doesn't depend on the battery backup as much as the 3G did, but it's still useful if you're making a lot of use of the phone. And Naztech fixed this holster so you can access the camera with the phone installed in the holster.

All in all, this is the best holster on the market for the Iphone 4!

I went through three of these and the clip broke off each time. It looks like a good product but they used extremely cheap material in the most sensitive part.

Schumacher SE-70MA Fully Automatic Deep-Cycle Charger

Schumacher SE-70MA Fully Automatic Deep-Cycle ChargerFirst of all, a high quality 24V air-cooled charger like this is approx $132+ without S&H. I have Schumacher Chargers and they all operate very well for the price. The weak point on these chargers is "whimpie" wiring that is usually the cause of problems or alleged failures of the unit. If you are not "technically inclined" and have problems, ask a friend or acquaintance who can check the unit. The most common flaw, in my experience, is the connection near the alligator clips, since this area gets the most movement. A continuity check of the wiring can usually locate the fault. Also, since this unit does not have an on/off switch, I simply plug it into a power strip equipped with an on/off switch. A simple fix can save unnecessary replacement of a good unit. In my experience, Schumacher provides a cost effective product considering the price and the service.

It works as advertised. Would be more convenient to use if it had an ON-OFF switch. As it is, On and Off are accomplished by plugging it in and unplugging it.

I have only used this charger a couple of times but so far, so good. I like the fact that you can set it on automatic and forget about it. I would have given it 5 stars if there was an off switch. Would be nicer than having to unplug it, which in time will probably damage the cord. Also, after I purchased it, a mechanical engineer told me that my batteries would last longer and would both get an equal charge by charging them on the 12 volt mode sepeately rather than connecting the charger in series to both batteries and charging them on the 24 volt setting. If that is true, I didn't need a 24 volt charger because I couldn't find a 24 volt baffery, only 2 12 volt batteries connected in series. I still like the unit, thus far.

Motor Trend FM Transmitter with LCD Display

Motor Trend FM Transmitter with LCD DisplayIt only works decently well if it is held directly In front of the stereo and gets a lot of static If not

This FM transmitter is a slight variation on a familiar theme. If you wish to try it wirelessly, insert 2 alkaline batteries and expect passable audio from your radio, interrupted by intermittent static and break-ups of the sound. If you go to a wired connection, attach the included cable with a micro-connector on one end to a cigarette lighter adapter accepting the USB connector on the other. Again, the signal is occasionally "fringe-y" and will likely require regular re-matching of the FM frequency band.

The main problem with this one is the absence of a light or similar warning that the device is in the "on" position. I've drained 4 alkalines despite using the device for no more than 30 minutes! Secondary problems concern visibility and accessibility. The digital read-out is never in plain reach when you need it. I've had better luck with the model that mounts securely in place and charges your iPod while simultaneously playing it. 5-in-1 Car Charger + Fm Transmitter / Holder Full Range Frequency Fm Transmitter Car Kit for Apple iPod (Black)
