At the time of purchase my orginal charger was damaged and not charging that good so when I saw all three for that price I jumped on it. However the home wall charger didn't always work and ended up breaking apart in my hand one day when I was trying to plug it in. I have not had any problems with the other two just yet,but you do get what you pay for.

Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Car Charger for iPod

Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Car Charger for iPod
  • Simultaneously plays and charges iPod using the car's DC power source (cigarette outlet)
  • Transmits iPod tunes through any available FM radio frequency
  • Simple up/down button speeds frequency selection and three programmable buttons lock in station presets
  • Compatible with iPod Nano (Gen 1,2,3); iPod (Gen 1,2,3,4); iPod Classic; iPod Touch
  • Patented Aerielle wireless technology enhances noise reduction and stereo separation

After I realized that I was gonna have to go the route of the FM transmitter to play my ipod in my car, I did tons of research. I must say that this unit sounds really well, if you configure it right. The first thing you need to to is set your ipod EQ to "treble reducer" or "small speakers". (I have yet to figure out why the EQ affects the sound through the dock/line out, but the volume control doesn't) The high end sounds will break up and annoy the crap out of you if you dont! Then you have to have multiple stations to work with. I find myself switching presets once every couple of car rides depending on where I go in town. I live in Louisville, KY and there are plenty of free stations which work well. While you can scroll down to 87.9 by holding down the right two preset buttons and scrolling, I have found this to be useless where I live. Stations higher in the band are overridden much easier than this one for some reason. Also, as with all fm transmitters, there will be some sound of static hiss as you crank up the volume. I find that this scares lots of people, but it really isn't that bad in the end. Ingeniously, if you turn on the air in your car to the lowest setting, it seems to match the static well and canel it out:) All in all this is a great solution for those with CD player only car stereos. The ipod is charged as you drive and you save hundreds on getting an ipod compatible stereo installed or hardwiring a connection from the back of your car stereo, which you can't even do (that I have seen) with my 2001 honda civic.

I have the Kensington 33185 in one car and the iCarPlay Plus in the other. While the iCarPlay Plus is decent, the Kensington wins out.

First, the Kensington has better reception, which I believe is largely due to it being tunable. You can set it to any station on the FM radio frequency so you get to control which station works best for you in your given area. The iCarPlay Plus has three stations pre-set and they can not be changed, so if those three are being used in your area by high-power FM stations you're out of luck. Luckily, I can use the three pre-sets in my area because there are no high-powered broadcasts on those stations already, but the Kensington still sounds better.

Second, the Kensington's controls are molded into the unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter while the iCarPlay Plus' controls are separate. This is a problem for the iCarPlay Plus because the unit tends to get flung around during sharp turns or lost between the seat and center console during normal use causing the buttons to be pressed and the station it broadcasts on to get changed. It can be very dangerous to try to find the unit again and switch the broadcasting station while driving. Since the Kensington's controls stay in place plugged snuggly into the cigarette lighter, they are always in easy reach and never get accidentally changed.

Third, I protect my iPod with iPod Armor which gives accessibility to the iPod's dock connector at the bottom of the iPod. The slot is plenty big for the standard USB and Fireware connector that Apple ships. However, the iCarPlay Plus' connector, for some unfathomable reason, is nearly twice the size of the standard connector, therefore I have to remove my iPod from the armor every time I want to use the iCarPlay Plus. This is annoying! The Kensington uses the same size connector as Apple which means that I don't have to remove my iPod from its armor so I can just plug in and drive away.

While the iCarPlay Plus is a nice unit that does work quite well, the Kensington 33185 is the overall winner based on sound quality, reception, and thoughtful engineering.

The idea of playing your iPod through your car's FM radio is a good one. And it works well if you are basically staying in one place. You can identify a frequency with no signal, set your transmitter to that, and you're fine.

However, it's very painful to use on long trips, since as you travel you move into areas where your chosen frequency is no longer empty and you begin to hear lots of static. At that point, you have to start looking around for another frequency. In a recent trip (from New England to Pittsburgh), sometimes we were lucky and didn't have to change for an hour and a half. At other times, we wound up searching for new free frequencies every 20 minutes or so. This was annoying with two of us in the car; it would have been near impossible if there was only the driver.

What one of these devices really needs is a "seek" function that works the opposite the way the radio's seek function works. The radio seeks to the next solid station. It would be great if only I could press a button and have it seek to the next clear frequency. Yes, I'd still then have to tune the radio to match, but that's not bad. It's the searching around for a free frequency that's painful.

I've been an iPod junkie for as long as I can remember, and for as long as I can remember, I've been trying to get my iPod to work with my stock Bose stereo in my 2002 Nissan Altima. I've been through at least 3 or 4 other FM transmitters, the iTrip, Belkin Tunecast and a couple of generic ones. I live in LA, so anyone from a metropolitan area will agree with me and say they pretty much all sucked. Lots of random interference no matter what "empty" station you think you may have found and lots of "sibilance" where the "s" sounds are pronounced and fuzzy. Very annoying. I finally found a means of direct connecting my iPod to my stock Bose stereo about a year ago and I was incredibly happy with the sound. THen about 2 months ago, my car was broken into and my STOCK stereo was stolen (in addition to other things). After it was replaced by the bodyshop, the newer stock stereo did NOT have the ability for a direct connection, and sadly, VERY sadly, I lost my direct iPod connection. Needless to say, in my desperation, I began looking at reviews at some of the newer FM transmitters, and found an overwhelmingly positive average for this Kensington and decided to give it a shot. As other reviewers here will tell you, I was BLOWN away by the sound quality! (you MUST set the iPods EQ to "Treble Reducer" though, it get's rid of the sibilance completely). Choosing 88.3 as the frequency, there's VERY minimal background static that's almost non-existant once the car is on and in motion. The sound is darn near that of my lost direct connection, and dare I say, BETTER than FM radio! No kidding! I've driven through all of LA with it, and have yet to hear any static interruption. I will agree with some of the other reviewers here in that if you move the connector to the ipod, it will sometimes cause static noise, but it's rare, and ONLY happens if you're fiddling with it. Great great unit. Highly recommended.

After reading the reviews about FM transmitters I was concerned that I would be happy with this purchase. As soon as I plugged it in and found a frequency it worked perfectly. Rarely have to change frequencies in the FM crowded NY, NJ, Philadelphia region.

The sound quality is definitely not CD quality but is certainly good enough for car listening.

Highly recommended.

Go Power! GP-SF-1.5 SUNfilm 1.5 Watt Solar Panel

Go Power! GP-SF-1.5 SUNfilm 1.5 Watt Solar PanelI recently purchased this charger to keep my car battery from dying when I do not use it for a week or so. I have other Go power products and I have had good sucess with them. I unfortunately had my battery die on me when I left my car for a week without starting it. I figured this might work instead of buying a new battery. So far it has worked. I plug it into my cigarette lighter and put it on the dash whenever I am going to leave the car for more than a day. I have tried it after a week of not running the car and the car still started. I would recommend this product.

However the cord to the unit is so flimsy that it broke. About three months ago so it really didn't last long. While it worked it worked well but it really is not worth it because it is made horrible well. The cord is pretty important no?

Works like a charm. After a month of exposure, I am seeing some small degradation bubbles in the cell. Not a big deal, will probably last over a year. For the price, that is great.

Its OK, does not work unless your battery is completely charged and good. will not charge a low battery, which is what i needed, but will work to keep my mower/tractor charged during the winter months without using an extension cord.

Oh boy... Let me tell you my story:

I don't drive my car much so I figure these things would keep my battery in good shape.

I bought two of these, figure if it works, I'll give one to my friend.

My battery on my car still works fine, just low since I don't drive it much.

I installed the device, 2~3 days later, when I try to start my car, it won't stop at all and no power to the car whatsoever, if I didn't install this thing, my car would still start, this thing not only didn't charge my battery, it did the opposite and drained my battery at a faster rate than it's natural 1% per day drain.

You thought maybe the product is DOA? Well, I installed the 2nd one since I bought two, 3 days later, still no power.

Conclusion:

This thing does not charge a 2008 Toyota Yaris, not only it doesn't charge, it also drain possibly harm your battery, I'll find out later today when my friend comes over for a jump start with a jumper cable, if it still doesn't start, then this product killed my battery when my battery was fine before I installed this, I really hope this thing didn't kill my battery.

Since my car is a pretty typical common economical car, if it doesn't work for my car, it wouldn't work for many cars out there, so beware. I would recommend those portable jump starter device, those are similar to the way you use a jumper cable and jump start with another car, except it has a battery to it so you don't need another car to do it.

Cobra Walkie-Talkie microTalk CXT425 22-Channel Two-Way Radio

Cobra Walkie-Talkie microTalk CXT425 22-Channel Two-Way Radio
  • 25 Mile Range, 22 Channels & 121 Privacy Codes
  • 10 Channel NOAA radio & Hands-free operation (VOX)
  • 8 Rechargeable AAA batteries, and a 2 port desk charger included
  • Maximum range extender and belt clip included for maximum efficiency and carrying ease
  • Lead-Free Packaging
  • 10 Channel NOAA radio and Hands-free operation (VOX)
  • 25 Mile Range, 22 Channels and 121 Privacy Codes

I am writing this in the hope that it will help some other buyer's of this product.

There is a place on the belt clip to place a wrist strap. However, no wrist straps come with this model. I had wrist straps that came with my older Cobra 950DX model and transferred them to this model.

The reason I bought this model is that it had the longest advertised range that still used AAA rechargeable batteries. It does say in the manual to "Use only the supplied rechargeable batteries and charger for recharging your Cobra microTALK radio." Now I know why! I tried to use my duracell AAA rechargeable batteries that were fully charged. No lights came on the charger and the batteries would not charge. AAA rechargeable batteries should be interchangeable-right? The Duracell batteries are 800mah 1.2 volts and the supplied rechargeables are 600mah 1.2 volts. If you look at the batteries in the illustration, you will note that the bottom 3/8" of the battery is silver in color. This is a continuous wrap from the bottom negative terminal. On the lower left inside the battery compartment of the radios is a contact that makes contact with that lower 3/8" of the battery. Without making that contact the charger lights and charger will not work. You can wrap some aluminum foil around the one duracell or generic AAA rechargeable battery that makes that contact and everything works. I can only figure that Cobra tried to make everyone buy their OEM batteries for replacement. Personally, I think this is stupid. The advantage of the AAA rechargeable batteries is that they can be easily found and purchased if needed.

The radios work although I have not done any distance range tests. I also wish they had the vibration alert on this model. I can live without it, but I did like that feature on my old 950DX model.

The AAA battery problem has been overcome. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the omission of the wrist straps. It just seems like all of the manufacturers are cutting every corner they can to save pennies.

I have owned this product for 2 years. It is built solid and has several nice features. I like that it is small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket and the antenna is not big. I have used the units on road trips to keep in contact with other vehicles and used it in theme parks. I have used the VOX (voice activated features) to know when my baby woke up (sleeping in a cabin), and I have used the US weather alert reports. I am pleased with the range and clarity. In the city its range is superior to 5 mile talk units which is not suprising as this is a 25 mile unit. This unit has given me fairly reliable reception at about 2 miles in residential areas. I tested it at 26 miles across Salt Lake Valley from one high point in Salt Lake City to another high point at the other end of the valley in Herriman, Utah. The reception was good, so the farthest distance claim is accurate as long as there are no intervening buildings and hills, etc.

Bought these as a Christmas present and after three weeks of light use, noticed that the radios would not recharge. Contacted Amazon who sent a replacement and e-mailed return shipping to me. Got the new ones and plugged them into the charger and these would not charge. "Wiggled" the power cord a little and the charger started working, but this only lasted a couple of days before it crapped out completely. I suspect the chargers cord is made from very cheap and brittle wire. While the radios appear to work well, they are useless if they cannot be charged. Amazon promptly refunded me for this item.

As far as Amazon.com goes: Their customer service has been outstanding. They sent the first replacements and they appeared on my doorstep the very same day I shipped off the defective ones. The refund on the second set came very quickly, too. They have been Johnny-on-the-spot. No questions asked. Thank you Amazon.

I lead workshops and I give each participant a radio to be able to keep in touch with them. I attached a wrist strap lanyard with a carabiner to each radio through the spot on the clip for this attachment, but this doesn't attach the lanyard to the radio, but rather the clip itself. And it doesn't take much for the clip to be bumped and slid off the radio. When that happens, your lanyard kept the clip nice and secure, but the radio is lost. Bad design, and there is no spot on the radio to attach a lanyard.

Range is excellent on these radios, with a good set of adjustment options. These are an upgrade from older Cobra radios I used, and these are much, much better.

Save 39% Off

These radios performed exactly as I expected when purchasing them. We just took them hunting in very mountainous terrain in Utah and they did great. I read reviews for weeks before purchasing this model, and I'm glad I spent the time on research. My husband and I were able to maintain contact up in the mountains with a couple miles and hills between us. We rarely had line of sight, but the signal was crystal clear. We even got fairly decent reception from the in-laws hunting camp several miles and a couple mountain tops away from us. We did lose contact one time when I was down in a gully and my husband was a couple of ridgelines away from me, but it didn't last long. Overall, I think they performed as well as, if not better than expected. Good radios are hard to find for the type of terrain and distances I'm talking about here.

We'll be investing in Rinos over the next few years, but for now these radios are just fine. I recommend taking some time to get familiar with the instruction manual. I ended up using more of the features than I ever have before on a radio, and really liked them. I even used the VOX feature as a baby monitor so I could hang out in camp with my baby napping in our tent.

Kensington 33362 Ultraportable Power Inverter 150

Kensington 33362 Ultraportable Power Inverter 150This is the perfect adapter for me as it powers both my notebook and all of my gadgets from a single brick. I use it for my notebook, DVD player, cell phone, mp3 player, guitar trainer and PDA. The Kensington is simple, compact and lightweight without a lot of fussy extra stuff to deal with. The iGo and Targus systems require a separate dongle for low-power devices like cell phones and CD-players.

"Brick" really isn't a good description though, because the Kensington transformer has a super slim profile and is lightweight. I bought the 120w version because some people reported trouble with the 70w on newer HP Compaq Business notebooks. I figured the 120w is good now and insurance against obsolesence in the future.

The power supply is just part of the picture though, as the real beauty of the system is the "smart tip" feature. I frequently fly on international and long haul domestic trips and like to take along my portable DVD player for entertainment. Instead of hauling heavy auxiliary batteries or having both a DC adapter for the plane/rental car AND the regular power bricks, cables and wall warts for AC, now all I need is a single power supply and the right tips.

It seemed like I was always forgetting to pack the one crucial component I needed, like the USB cable to charge my Tungsten T or the wall wart for my mp3 player. With this system, everything stays in one pouch in my carry-on briefcase and the OEM power supplies stay at home, no more sharing and forgetting....

On the downside, the AC power cord really needs to be longer. Now it hangs down off the wall with the weight of the brick straining the cord. This will eventually lead to failure and an electrical hazard unless replaced. Also on my wish list is a separate European two-prong power cord to eliminate the need to pack a plug adapter.

Technical support is a joke, as the call desk didn't even know that any of the DVD tips were available. Technical spec information is nigh on impossible to get. My DVD player wasn't listed on the website and I wanted to know which tip supplied 9v.

Good luck trying to find that out without a major research project. I wish Kensington would just publish a compatibility chart on the site and keep it current, instead of that goofy query-based tip selector. It is so out of date, that it doesn't list many of the DVD player models that have tips (e.g. Panasonic).

I wanted to find the right tip for my Philips PET1000 DVD player. I finally had to go to the manufacturer websites that Kensington makes tips for to dig out which one uses 9v (it was Panasonic). Bought the tip, works like a charm. This works for other devices that aren't listed too, like my Tascam gutiar trainer. If the tip fits your device without forcing or isn't loose, it is probably the right one. However, ALWAYS check the voltage and amperage first to avoid frying your stuff.

The bottom line is that this is head and shoulders above the other AC/DC systems out there. If Kensington can keep up the product support by making new tips for gadgets as they hit the marketplace, it could be around for a long time.

I am very happy with my Kensington Inverter and recommend it highly. It has served me well on many road trips and airline flights.

Having a 3-prong outlet makes this a far more versatile and useful device than inverters that just have a tip for the laptop. It is by far one of the lightest devices of its kind that I have found and great for travel.

There are a few tricks of the trade when using these kinds of devices. One is that airline "empower" ports only put out 75W--and if you read the fine print it can get shut off abruptly at any time during the flight with no warning.

There ar a number of laptops that require more power than 75W--particularly if you are trying to charge the battery at the same time. No inverter can help you solve this problem but it is something to be aware of. In many cases you can either remove the battery or connect it and let it fully charge up before you turn the machine on and it will work fine.

And finally the box says 150 watts, but this is *peak* power which only lasts for a short time (such as the startup phase for your laptop). Sustained output is 120 Watts--just something to note in case you are running devices that require that reuqire a lot of juice.

But all in all this is a *great* little device and I recommend it highly.

Buy Kensington 33362 Ultraportable Power Inverter 150 Now

I purchased the Kensington Universal 120W AC/DC Power Adapter because I wanted a lightweight solution to keep my IBM/Lenovo T43 laptop powered through long airline flights. Kensington's product is a slick piece of engineering the brick is actually lighter than the one that came with the T43 (that went in the closet immediately, probably never to return). And, it's probably < 50% of the weight of some of the previous AC/DC adapters on the market. Yesterday, a friend was telling me of some incompatibility between his DC adapter and the set-up in American Airlines coach. I've had no such issues. I've had the opportunity to employ my Kensington Universal 120W Adapter at home, office, car and plane and I've had complete satisfaction in all settings. And as for the previous reviewer's comment about the 5" cord, yeah, it does make for a rather odd, dangling effect, but I've not had a situation yet where I've been unable to make a connection because the brick got in the way (although I've had a couple of stares at Starbuck's when I cram the brick into the power alcove).

This power adapter is light, versatile, and performs its function very well, but verify that compatible tips are available for your specific devices.

It has replaced five power cables I used to lug around for trips, and worked perfectly in Europe and India on 220 volt supplies. It's actually lighter than my original Dell laptop adapter. The anywhere adapter also works with a 12VDC auto outlet and the Empower outlets found on many airlines.

This is a power adapter only, so it will not perform a data connection with your PDA, iPod, etc. something to consider if synching while traveling is important to you.

The power cord from the outlet to the brick is 6" short. This is by design to allow the adapter to hang off the wall and have more air circulate around it. The adapter can get quite hot when drawing maximum power. I like the short cord because it's one less item to coil just toss it in the bag. I've actually worn out two other power adapters by coiling the cords and causing them to fray. The cable from the brick to your device, in contrast, is extremely long (approx 3m/10ft). Kensington offers a retractable cable; I haven't bought it but it is intriguing.

A few more hints:

-The adapter comes packaged with several tips for the most common devices, including the iPod.

-Check to ensure a tip is available for your device. Kensington does not have the newer Nokia cell phone (AC-3U 1.5mm) tip; you can get the Nokia adapter for the older tip. There are tips available for digital and video cameras. Check that the tip is in stock! I had to look around for the BlackBerry one.

-Consider getting the dual charging cable. This is a splitter that powers two devices simultaneously (one high power such as a laptop and one low power such as a phone/PDA).

-The included zip case is awful. It's thin and the zipper split open easily.

Want Kensington 33362 Ultraportable Power Inverter 150 Discount?

This is based on a couple of days' experience.

The AC seems to work. Haven't tried DC yet.

It's lighter than the factory power supply for my Compaq Presario 2100. That's 18oz; this one is around 13oz without the DC cord; even with the DC cord it's a couple of ounces lighter. It's also a bit slimmer, though wider and a little longer.

It has built-in velcro straps on the cable. Cool, means I don't have to add my own.

The cabling is kind of interesting. The AC input cord is only about 5" long, so the power supply normally just hangs from the outlet. The DC output cord is about 10'. Both cords will detach from the PS itself, and then the DC output cord connects to one of several tips that select voltage and tip style.

The advertised capability to power almost anything is quite attractive, but I wasn't able to find anything about alternative tips at Kensington's web site. It'd sure be nice to be able to power my PDA and my cell phone, but they'll take unusual tips. Their compatibility page had lots of laptop computer coverage, and zero coverage of anything else.

When you combine the tip with the connector on the end of the cable, the result is about a 3.25" rigid connector sticking out the back of the computer. That make me nervous; it seems like it's asking to get broken or, worse, break the laptop. It may interfere with one of the major things I wanted this unit for strapping the laptop to the center console in my motor home. A right angle connector would be better. The factory power supply has a right angle connector, and projects only 0.75" out the back.

Yes, this charger fits the phone and works but sometimes it needs a little "encouraging" to snap in. Takes twice as long as the OEM car charger or about 90 to 120 minutes from dead to full charger. Thus, rapid is a misnomer.

Belkin Backup Battery Pack for iPod 3G

Belkin Backup Battery Pack for iPod 3G
  • Designed to work with Apple iPod portable music players
  • Provides 15 to 20 hours of additional battery life
  • Indicates charge levels with 4 LEDs, so you know when to replace batteries
  • Secure switch prevents accidental on/off powering
  • Includes 4 AA batteries and 2 extra suction cups

To the person who had two of these burn up on him...I had a similar experience. My iPod kept locking up with the battery pack plugged in, and the pack got HOT. I replaced the batteries, and suddenly everything was fine. I was curious so I put the original batteries (the ones that came in the package with the battery pack) in a battery tester and got some really strange results...the tester gauge started bouncing all over the scale! It seems that the included batteries are funky in the sense that they don't supply a steady source of power. My new batteries, in the same tester, move the gauge and it STAYS PUT, rock solid. I can see how an iPod with an unsteady power source would have problems. It seems fine now.

Buy Belkin Backup Battery Pack for iPod 3G Now

i'm an owner of a 3G/40gb ipod and the first thing i noticed immediately was that the battery leaves much to be desired. i would do a full charge at night and take my ipod out the next day...by the end of the day, after a few hours of use, it would be almost completely drained. it got really annoying. overall, the belkin battery backup is a nice product, but has it's pros/cons.

PROS

1) extended life powered by 4AA batteries. i can't quantify specifically how many hours i've gotten since i've had to recharge. but put it this way...i've been using my ipod for one week at the same frequency (which is just about every day) and have YET to recharge my batteries. i'm estimating around 15+ hours so far...btw, i bought rechargeable 2300mAh NiMH batteries, with a higher capacity, so that probably helps.

2) 4 point-power led indicator...nice to know when the battery is getting drained, even if i haven't had to recharge it yet anyways.

3) does not drain the ipod battery while plugged it...which i would probably have to send to apple for replacement before long with the success i was getting (which costs $100).

4) relatively cheaper than some other battery backups available on the market, particularly BTI's ipod battery kit, which costs $100 and is actually larger than the ipod itself. i got this product for $30.

CONS

1) BULKY. Obviously if you jog with your ipod (which you probably shouldn't do anyways), you'll probably get annoyed with the added mass. even my friends see it and comment on it. definitely not recommended for those who want to maintain ipod's portability. for me personally, i don't mind it as much.

2) can't use a case protector with the battery plugged in. the battery actually suctions to the back of the ipod. so you can't place a protective cover on the ipod. the only concern for me is the screen. ghetto solution: clear packaging tape!

3) cost. $30 + $20 for the rechargeable battery kit. but i need to use the batteries for other stuff too, so...

4) cannot use jointly with some ipod accessories such as altec lansing's inMotion portable speaker system...basically, anything that requires docking the ipod since the battery backup plugs into the same docking port on the bottom.

for those 3G owners that don't mind the added bulk and want extended playability (MUCH extended in some cases), i would definitely recommend this product. i can't speak for 4G owners, although i've heard mixed reviews regarding battery life from friends.

Overall, i'm happy with this product. sure, it would have been nice if they could have made it more sleek in design...but i really don't think they could have done a much better job considering you're adding FOUR AA batteries to your ipod. but hey, i'll take it over the increasing annoyance of having to recharge my ipod after every day of usage.

I don't usually write reviews, but there have been some negative reviews of this product and I felt the need to share!

I bought this unit because I'm backpacking across Europe and I wanted to go completely unplugged. But I still wanted to take my ipod! I saw this product and thought it would be a killer solution! And I was RIGHT!! This unit is AWESOME!! I use regular Energizer or Duracell batteries (throw away the ones that come with the unit! Don't even put them in they are always useless) and it has given me a SOLID 12-14 hours of playtime, if not a few hours more!!! The unit NEVER got Hot or emitted any kind of "burning" smell. I suspect that the people who had these problems did something wrong or got a bad unit it happens even with the best of products!

The unit does add some expected weight to the ipod. I mean you are adding a battery pack with 4 AA batteries, but it is more than a fair trade!! You can go anywhere and not have to worry about finding an outlet and/or adapters!! In my opinion, the small amount of extra weight is more than worth it and once you realize the benefits, you won't notice it! With the battery pack attached, your internal battery is not even touched!! So, you are also extending the life of your internal battery which means you don't have to have apple replace as quickly!!

All in all, I think this product is AWESOME and as long as you follow the instrucions, you will love it too! It is PERFECT for anyone who is going on long trips, flights, camping, backpacking anything that will take you away from an electrical outlet for an extended period of time!

I hope this helps and happy listening! Enjoy your tunes!

PS This will keep your ipod running even after your internal battery is completely dead. So, you can keep listening to your ipod until you are able to get it to apple to replace the battery!!

I'm a new proud owner of a 5g black iPod with video. A wonderful product with only one major flaw: not nearly enough juice for any lengthly video watching.

The Belkin Battery Pack nicely remedies this problem, providing some much needed longevity to the iPod's video function. I can now watch several movies and TV shows before I have to worry about the battery running out. Also nice is how neatly it integrates with the iPod itself, attaching itself to the back to become one seemless unit.

The reason I did not give this product a 5 is due to some minor flaws in its design. Firstly, it does not actually charge the iPod's own internal battery, but rather runs the iPod independantly. This isn't really a bad thing except for the fact that the energy is drained from the battery pack even when the iPod itself is turned off! If you forget to switch the battery pack off as well you'll wake up the next morning to drained batteries.

Also, the unit adds a bit of bulk to the iPod. It's nothing you can't eventually get used to, just be ready to learn how to hold your iPod differently when operating it with the battery pack attached. But overall I must say that the folks at Belkin have made the design of the battery pack about as efficient as they possibly could, all things considered.

For best performance use 2500 mAh NiMH rechargeable AA batteries. A decent set plus a charger will set you back roughly $20, but they will last longer than throwaway alkaline batteries, plus they can be recharged hundreds of times, saving you a ton of money in the long run. It's also more convenient to simply recharge the batteries in the battery pack rather than constantly run to the store for a fresh set.

This unit does not work with the 40GB iPod at all. After a while of using it with totally brand new fresh batteries, it just freezes up the iPod and causes a scratching sound. I have checked some online forums and others with 40 GB iPods and the Belkin Battery Pak have this same problem.

I have contacted Belkin with no response. I regret purchasing this unit totally. If you have a 40 GB iPod, take my advice and avoid this item unless they come out with some sort of fix.

Kicker 6" Two Way Speaker KIT

Kicker 6' Two Way Speaker KIT
  • Sensor Technology MicroCheck advanced semiconductor technology
  • Detection Range 0.00 - 0.40 %BAC
  • Mouthpieces 2 included
  • Test Count display's total number of tests performed
  • Power Supply Two AAA alkaline batteries, included

This product arrived in a short amount of time and was exactly as pictured. The sound quality is much better than the stock Blaupunkt (alleged) speakers in my car and the amperage handling was compatible with the Sony WX-GT77UI head unit that I installed which pushes 17 watts RMS and 52 watts peak per channel. I installed them in the front doors of a 2004 GTO and didn't really need to cut out the backing cups (as suggested on Crutchfield) after having attached the provided wires first. It was snug but fit fine.

Buybits PRO Motorcycle Bike Mount with Waterproof TOUGH CASE for the Apple iPhone 4 Smartphone

Buybits PRO Motorcycle Bike Mount with Waterproof TOUGH CASE for the Apple iPhone 4 Smartphone
  • Robust heavy duty TOUGH case is for the Apple iPhone 4 & Professional Motorcycle / Bike handlebar mount. Fits handlebars 19mm-35mm. Min space of 42mm required to fit.
  • Bespoke silicon liner for the iPhone 4 only. All function buttons accessible. Clear touch lens is very responsive. Use of the iPhone not comprimised.
  • High quality Bike mount. Secure screw fix. Case can be removed from mount for security.
  • Case designed to IPX4, all weather, will keep your iPhone 4 secure and dry in most riding conditions. The solid, robust case has been designed to withstand daily use and will protect against wet / damp weather, knocks and bumps.
  • Case includes removable lanyard. This is a stront, stylish, hardwearing mounting option for your iPhone 4.

For those looking for the perfect case to keep the iPhone dry and safe, this is it. There seems to be very few options for the iPhone that still allow you to use the touchscreen. This is the exception as it does both very well.

The ability to still open the case enough to plug in a headset or power cord, or seal it up without. All buttons are still available as well as both cameras.

The handle bar mount is a little light duty, but will work fine. The mount holes do line up with common 1" Ram ball mounts. This gives the case a little more flexability for mounting. It would be the only thing that would make it truly perfect would be if it shipped with the 1" Ram ball standard.

Magellan GPS Car Kit for Latest iPhone and iPod Touch (AP0301SGXXX)

Magellan GPS Car Kit for Latest iPhone and iPod Touch
  • Compatible with All iOS Devices
  • Built In GPS Receiver
  • Hands Free Bluetooth
  • Accomadates Skins and Cases
  • In Car Chargine

Two stars. CBelow average. Not recommended unless willing to spend considerable time to tinker with it to get it to work.

Bought this on sale recently, and overall fit and finish were fine. The issue is that the iTouch (I have a 3rd generation) has repeated issues with charging and finding the GPS satellites. After trying multiple times with it, I did get it to work... but there are some "catches" to getting it to work:

1) It does work with other Apps, but it will need ones that have offline maps, routing calculations, and turn by turn navigation. Otherwise the minute you drive away from a wifi, the map app (like Google Maps) will go blank, or you won't know where you are going. And there are FREE alternatives to the $49.99 Magellan app that meet these requirements, and that would be otherwise needed to use this unit. (Yeah, like I would pay $99 for this adapter and then have to pay another $49.99 for the Magellan app... BWHAHAHAHAHA! ...As if...)

2) You need enough free memory (RAM) on the iTouch to actually get it to work

If you have a lot of other apps running in the background (like facebook), then you need to shutdown/poweroff the iTouch and then restart it, and run nothing else before you start your GPS program. My iTouch (3rd Gen) was very hard to get this to work, because often I was down to 8-9 MB of remaining ram (NOT FLASH) memory to do anything with, even after shortly starting the iTouch from a "power off" condition.

3) Make sure the connector is firmly attached.

The adjustable 30 pin apple iTouch clip works for almost any Apple product, but getting it connected properly is a frustrating series of trial and errors. Multiple times I'd put the iTouch in, only to have it not charge.

4) You have to enable bluetooth to get GPS to work.

Not a big deal, but if you have it off, you will need to turn it on and pair it with the GPS unit. And you have to remove the power cord and recycle it to get the unit to pair with the iTouch.

5) The power cord is kinda klunky, but it works. I was not impressed with the plug in 12V automotive adapter. No indicator/power light/LED, and it seems to be kinda hard to get it seated correctly in my 12V accessory plug socket in my car. Fortunately, I had another one in the car already, and that one seemed to work okie. It's a mini-USB, so any basic power adapter for a USB should work.

Overall, I was borderline on returning it, but think I will keep it. I'm of the mind that I'd just be better off with a full blown dash type GPS Navigation device. I'd also like to get it so I have a Mini-USB battery pack (using rechargable AA cells), so it doesn't loose signal when I turn off the car... but for now, it works. But I can't recommend it for a newbie or even for serious travelers because the 30 pin connector won't connect well and Magellan expects you to shovel out another fifty clams for their app in the Apple Store.

Couple this unit with your IPhone and the software and you have an unbeatable GPS system. I've placed my old gps in mothballs now that I have this unit.

Read Best Reviews of Magellan GPS Car Kit for Latest iPhone and iPod Touch (AP0301SGXXX) Here

All car kits which plug with the holder directly into the cigarette lighter did not stay in place and fell sidewards. So I wanted a car kit with a suction cup so that the entire weight is not in the cigarette lighter. Also I didn't want to plug an external cable to my iPhone each time I enter the car and unplug it each time I leave it.

With this car kit you plug your iPhone onto a Apple connector, you close the lid from the top and this is it. When you leave the car even for 5min you just press a button on the right side, the lid pops up and you can easily remove your phone. Additionally your iPhone connects via Bluetooth to this device so that the speech from the GPS is announced via the internal loudspeaker. You can also use it for taking calls as it has a built in microphone. I have not received a better GPS signal as far as I can say due to the built in GPS receiver. My phone says the same bars with or without this device. However if you have a iPod without internal GPS you can transform it into a Navigation System with that and you also do not have to use the Magellan GPS app but any other one which you prefer.

BTW the package contains a suction cup for windows as well as a kit for uneven surfaces. I think this is to avoid damages on your dashboard due to the heavy duty suction cup.

Want Magellan GPS Car Kit for Latest iPhone and iPod Touch (AP0301SGXXX) Discount?

The GPS receiver was not detected at all. Everything else worked, including the audio out and Bluetooth. This was the second purchase of this car kit with the same results. I'm staying away from these iPod GPS kits from now on.

After using telephone signal based GPS and being left adrift when signals disappeared (usually at the worst of times like at night in a strange city) I put Roadmate software on my iPhone and added this device to attach to my vehicle windshield and use real GPS sourcing. Terrific!! No disappearing phone signals, no lost in the city where high buildings wreak havoc on all things electronic. Maps are updated often and quickly. I wish the adapter had better angle control as it won't lay flat enough for one of my vehicles to keep the screen visible. There is a BUT but it has more to do with the software than this device. When coming off a long interstate run and tasking an exit, it seems as if the software fell asleep and was startled at the intrusion of being called to service because the first thing it usually says is "when possible make a legal U turn" then it comes fully awake and proceeds perfectly.

Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio System

Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio SystemThe mere thought of a combination satellite radio/cd/radio boombox delights the ears. I needed a CD player/radio AND wanted to be able to listen to my XM radio, so I gave this boombox a try. What a disappointment. The main problem is the background noise on the XM radio. The faint high-pitched hum only occurs when listening to the XML radio. The CD player and radio sound fine, however, CDs skip and sometimes hesitate to play. Removing the XM radio takes some practice. You snap the unit into the adapter, which is fine, but to remove it, you have to push on the radio until the unit slides forward. That was my experience.

If you don't already own a Delphi XM radio, consider the Audiophase satellite radio Skybox with AM/FM/CD/MP3 player. Or you could add a receiver to an XM radio family plan,.

Pros:

Radio and cd player fidelity

Intuitive buttons

Cons:

Background noise

Skipping CDs

Awkward way to insert and remove XM radio

Garish design

When I hooked up my SkyFi radio in this device and turned on the unit, what I heard was a constant low frequency oscillating sound the best I can describe it is a "motorboat" noise. I heard the satellite radio, but during quiet passages especially on talk shows and interviews/comments on radio channels it was extremely annoying. So, I tried muting the sound and the noise continued unabated at the same volume. You could mask it by turning up the volume, but on some jazz, classical, and talk channels it was always there, annoyingly so.

I tried using headphones, thinking it was a speaker problem, but it was still there. Then, I figured it might be a bad power supply and tried batteries annoying background sound was still there. So this item is going back it's a real shame because it's a nice device, but fails miserably in it's intended purpose (at least for me) and that is making satellite radio portable.

I tried AM and FM radio and the performance is surprisingly good. But, the manual is completely wrong as to how to store presets for these modes. The manual says that in order to choose what preset number under which to store the station you should hit the "tune" button. In fact, you hit the "seek" button. Until I stumbled on this, I was going crazy trying to get the manual's instructions to work on my device. Also, the "Menu" button on the remote control does NOT put the satellite SkyFi into menu mode as the instructions say it should. As it turns out I found about a half dozen places where the manual is dead wrong.

I did not try the device with playing a CD audio or mp3. When I realized the device was useless to me for playing satellite radio, I gave up and decided to use my SkyFi home kit with cheap powered speakers.

A real shame this had the promise of being a really nice device. By the way, Delphi "tech support" never responded to my inquiries. I understand by looking at other reviews that this is not unusual.

Buy Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio System Now

This is a great idea and design, the remote allows you to navigate through songs before changing channels. XM is awesome!!! The only negative of this product unfortunately is the sound that is pumped out of the speakers. The speakers output sound that sounds like a $25 dollar boombox rather than the $200 system it is. If you are using this as a stand alone boombox I do not think this is worth the money. I bought this system for my business office where I am constrained for space. So this system allows me XM radio and a CD player without taking up much space. I have a computer speaker system setup so the saving grace of this system is that it has a headphone jack so I plug my speakers into the headphone jack and I have stereo quality pumping XM/CD's all day !! Problem Solved !!!

Wonderful product. Just about the best XM SkyFI accessory I have ever had. Extremely durable, and rugged construction. Not much on looks, but is just about the best product of it's type I have ever owned.

Unabashed plug: I am a blind person. I attend a school out here in Rancho Mirage called the Braille Institute. A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned XM radio to about 150 of my fellow students. Just this week, about 70 of them told me that they had got themselves a SkyFI radio, and told me that XM radio was the best thing ever to enter thier lives.

Maybe XM should hire me as a marketer... :)

Great system! Great sound! Very easy to use. I love the flip design and controls. Plays CDs very well and AM/FM sensitivity is great.

I have the earlier XM Delph boombox but was always yearning to hear CDs and FM stations at times. This solves the problem.

Thinking of getting another one.

Very much recommended.

USB Sync & Charge Cradle (with AC Charger) for AT&T HTC Tilt 2

USB Sync & Charge Cradle for AT&T HTC Tilt 2This is my second Orion cradle and like the other, it workds nicely.

I am not a fan of Micro USB, I think Mini USB was a smoother plug to use, but what can you do. I don't know if it is an issue with the Micro USB standard, or the tolerances on the cradle, but inserting and removal are nto as smooth as my old Orion Mini USB dock.

Don't know if it is the Micro USB standard, so I won't remove a star as it does work just fine with just the minor annoyance.

By the way, I purchased a GSI dock too, it was DOA. I'll always turn to Orion first.

This cradle fits tilt 2 perfectly and spare battery charger is just what I wanted. Now if I forget to charge the phone I still have a backup battery that is ready to go.
