Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel

P.S. Pure sine wave inverters are also 3x more expensive than modified sine wave inverters. Modified sine wave inverters can do most of the jobs pure sine wave inverters do. I didn't mention this in the video but most of the times, deep cycle and marine batteries have 2 rectangular caps, look in the video closely, you have to put distilled water or drinkable water(it's okay), and fill it up until about 1 inch below the opening of the holes. Check these water levels about once every 3 days(recommended). Just take the caps off to put the water in if needed. Also, charge controllers are heavily recommended if you use a solar panel greater than 10 to 15 watts. Mono-crystalliine and poly-crystalliine solar panels are recommended, amorphous panels are not recommended because they're not efficient as the other two types of panels and they generally last shorter than the other two. You can buy a smaller inverter, smaller controller, smaller battery, smaller panels or larger of them depending on your needs.Yesterday we hooked up our solar panel. It works great!! We hooked it up with a 10 Amp charge controller. This panel is keeping our 5th wheel powered up great. It charges even when the sun is not directly on it which is nice. We hooked it all into our electrical system and it started charging immediately. This panel does NOT come with the connecters as shown in the pictures so be ready to crimp your wires. Also ours did come with the positive and negative wires marked. If we add another panel then we will get a 30 Amp charge controller for a better charge to our batteries. I am glad that we had a friend that used to work in the solar industry explain that to us. But for now we are just going to add another battery and we should be good. Maybe next month we will add another panel. This seems to be built well, nice and heavy construction. Not a wimpy piece of junk. Great value for the price. If I had it to do over again I would order this panel. It showed up in perfect condition. Shipping was quick and it was packed nicely with styrofoam padding all of the way around it. No problems there.

This panel works well. Even in a very overcast day, I still get good voltage and decent amperage from it.The only downside, which is why I only gave it 3 starts, is that the factory cable did not have any connectors on it as the description mentioned. It simply had a cable with the ends slightly stripped back, and the penetrations into the J-Box can not make a good seal with the factory cable. This is not a big deal for me as I was planning on making my own wiring harness anyway.
Read Best Reviews of Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel Here
My panel came with the MC4 connectors attached unlike previously reviewed by others. The output value of amps and voltage are within the specified range advertised. This panel keeps my 2 deep cycle RV batteries charged while using inside lights and 24-7 refrigerator. I don't use much else in my week-end retreat and I no longer have to use a generator to charge my batteries. I had a smaller 10Watt unit but it never did the job. I now only use my generator to watch TV or run the microwave or power tools as I have no inverter and this unit is really for charging and maintaining batteries and very small amp/hr applications. Mine sits flat on my roof with no permanent attachments and stays put. I have unimpeded sun exposure all day and never adjust the panel direction. The cable is only 3 ft and you will need to add cable remembering you need a MC4 attachment on the extension or cut and rewire the connections. I suggest a good, not the cheapest, 10 amp charge controller in case you wish to add more panels to this application and prevent overcharging of batteries. The unit does not have holes in the frame for the two cables and must be drilled if you use a flat surface mounting and route the cables from under the frame. Most of the issues mentioned in other older dated revues have been addressed and the cables are clearly and correctly marked with positive and negative tags.Want Instapark® NEW All Black 50W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel Discount?
I received this solar panel today and the first thing I noticed is that there are no MC-4 connectors included. The second thing is that unlike the images describe, the two wires are part of the same wire "assembly" and stripped from that assembly before going into the panel, removing any weather protection they might have had. Also, since the wires are so incredibly small, no seal can be created where they go into the weatherproof box on the back of the panel. We'll find out in the next couple of weeks if this puts out anything around 50 watts and update the review as appropriate. If so, it will still be a good deal compared to some other 45 watt poly-crystalline panel kits that cost a bunch more.
Update 02/15/2012: Using my Watts-Up meter here in the winter I am 25-40 watts in the sun. I re-soldered some nice 12 AWG wire into the connector box with PowerPoles on the ends and will probably buy another one of these this summer to add.
I'm using a CirKits SCC3 solar charge controller connected to a Duracell Powerpack 600 and the solar panel is definitely doing a good job keeping it charged up.

I use this 12v charger with my Goal Zero Sherpa 120 battery Goal Zero 11102 Sherpa 120 Battery and it works great. I really like the chemistry of that battery, how well it holds the charge and how many cycles it supports. When I charge from the solar panels it can take considerable time and often on camping trips we end up moving from site to site and thus end up in the car for a limited time. Using this 12v charger I can get the right voltage to top off the battery and set us up for a few more days. The 12v adapter charger is designed to get the voltage up to where it's needed to enable a full charge in the battery. We are very happy to have this as an option. The battery comes with the 120 AC charger, we use the solar panels Goal Zero 12201 Nomad 27M Solar Panel when off the grid, and then this 12v adapter/charger when mobile. Adding this gives us a complete solution for nearly any situation we find ourselves in.
This charger is not designed for all Goal Zero systems, but specifically for the Sherpa and Escape lines. Make sure that you are buying this to charge one of those battery setups and it'll assure that you are getting the right voltage and plug for plug and play compatability.
5 stars, a great accessory, though it would have been better if included with a several hundred dollar battery!

The unit can also play mp3, display photos in jpeg format and apparently also supports electronic books (although they don't say what format it supports). This unit functions like any memory device (memory stick, mp3 player, sd card) etc. when plugged into windows XP and higher, it's seen just like a hard disk etc. and you can move files on and off it with your pc. This unit has a memory card slot inside the battery door. The outside of the unit has a rubberized power switch on the left and a mini(not micro) usb connector on the right side that has a rubberized cover to keep water out, there is also a small round hole there that might be for headphones (book doesn't mention it) or a reset button. There doesn't appear to be an external reset button or hole to put a paperclip etc. into, unless it's that little round hole next to the power jack. The mount the unit arrives with appears to be for a bicycle handlebar--tiny, it certainly will not work on the one inch handlebars common to most motorcycles (some are 1.25 inch, but most common is one inch). Due to the mount issues I went to gpscity.com and ordered RAM mount parts to fix the issue (around 20-30 bucks and you can pick the parts to your own taste as they are sold individually). The plate on the back of the mount is the industry standard four screw pattern so it was easy to order the plate with the one inch ball and mount it on the back of the gps mount, the stock screws don't work, they're too short, the RAM mount part comes with like three different lengths of screws so find what you need and use those. The wire to the gps has a quick disconnect in it should you want to use it on another bike or remove the whole mount from the bike to frustrate thieves, but the power converter is quite far down the wire where it goes to the power supply; so you'd actually have to order more cables for each bike (does anyone even sell them?). I was able to thread the wire through the front end and around the tree and used zip ties to make it all neat (just make sure nothing gets crimped or strained when you move the front end), a little wire wrap (plastic) also helps protect the power wires from engine heat; especially on an air cooled harley. I used a fuse box tap (accessory fuse) so I didn't have to cut into my wiring harness and that also ensures there will only be power when the key is on so you don't run down your battery. (My 2011 sportster has an accessory fuse & harley uses mini fuses not the big ones like older cars use.), You plug the tap into the accessory fuse socket, insert a fuse into the tap and then tie devices into the red wire coming from the tap, the black wire just goes to any ground, probably a convenient ground around the bottom of the seat someplace. My complaint with the wiring that comes with it is that the wiring is darned tiny, almost so tiny that I'd fear for durability and I had a little problem attaching them to the fusebox tap and the ground (kept pulling out of the spade connectors I used they are so small).
The unit works good but you will be replacing the stock mount to use it on your motorcycle right away. Sharkmotorcyleaudio.com sells this gps and you can also find them on ebay, they respond to emails but you don't get a lot of help from there either. They did offer me a mount when I complained about what came with it but I didn't feel it would work, I notice they have a few more mount products now for sale. I have asked them about map updates and was basically told to go look myself. If you ask me they should carry them in the online store. I had my unit about two months and one of the batteries (2 come with it) died and they promptly sent me another new battery no hassles. The batteries appear to be a standard cell phone battery, if you search on the letters/numbers on the battery you find them all over ebay pretty cheap. The battery door on the back uses two screws to secure it, I find it frustrating to take that door on and off, it has to be all lined up just right or the screws won't screw down tight. All the screw spots on this unit have metal sleeves not just plastic so the doors and mounts should be pretty sturdy and not cross thread easily. I have seen one or two references to this unit on forums but still haven't found any instructions for loading new software or maps. I did find a website for the software on the unit but it would appear they only sell the product on memory cards these days and I have my doubts that would work here; haven't written to them yet about it. I think it's a good product other than you'll be spending around thirty bucks to replace the mount and the wiring harness uses some darned tiny wires, and then there are map update issues. In a year or two when the maps are intolerably out of date it looks like you might have a little problem updating the software that comes with it. If you can figure out how it should be possible to put another gps program on here but you'd need to know the hardware specifications to know if it will work and the software has to support touch screen; you can find a lot of information in the settings on the gps including map dates.
This product obviously comes out of china, probably why it's so difficult to get any real support, they sell the hardware and it's someone else's problem to put software on it and support it. It's a product worth the money but at some point you'll be asking for techie help or doing a lot of research to either update the software or the maps.
Note: There are several other brand names for what appears to be the same unit, at least three of which are sold here: Sharkmotorcycle audio SHKGPS2040, Movewell MH-310H, Owat 35MT. Don't seem to be web sites for any of those companies or horsepower either.

This is a great product! However, there was no paperwork included in the shipment. I had no clue as to what the parts were or how to use them. There wasn't even any information about the company or how to contact them. Luckily, Amazon has a link to contact the company. Within days I received an answer from the company and was sent instructions by email. They will not send a printed copy. The instructions are very thorough and explain everything you need to know about the GPS. It doesn't appear that there are any updates available so this could cause problems in the future. It is easy to use and it is a good value for the money.I bought two of these Gps units for less than the price of one waterproof Garmin. The units came with ample mounting hardware and charging accessories. You can find the manuals on line including the PolyNav navigation software. Works great easy to use. Support is limited but these GPS units work great and ++++easy to program routes and great road map display options. I bought it to use on my motorcycle. The screen is not readable in the sun and the handlebar mount is too small to fit those on my bike. It was shipped without an owner's manual nor even an instruction sheet. Email contact with the manufacturer has not been helpful. For the price I love this GPS. Only down fall is the glare, you can't see the screen in sunshine. Also the handle bar mount I think its for a bicycle. Had to buy a larger mount to go around my handle bars.Monday, March 3, 2014
Sony DCC-E345 Car DC Adaptor with Selectable Voltage Switch

- Powers a CD or MD player through a car cigarette lighter
- Selectable voltage switch: 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 volts
- Plug case supplied; cord length is 1.5 meters (5 feet)
- Unlimited power while commuting or playing at the park
- Essential accessory for using your personal CD or MD player in a vehicle
It does do a fine job of creating power, and I suppose for the price you can't really ask for a lot of internal filtering. So... the bottom line is that it's a fine product if the aforementioned limitations either don't apply to you or don't bother you.

I bought this to replace the original adapter I got with a Sony CD car kit 13 years ago, and was very pleasantly surprised by the improvement in quality. The cord is longer to avoid pulling, and is protected by a thick rubber exterior. The orginal cord I had was thin, and while it lasted 13 years, it finally snapped clean off. Hobart 500539 Trek 180 Battery-Powered or 115-Volt Corded Portable MIG Welder

My primary reason for considering the Trek was it's off the grid welding capability. My family and friends are in to sand cars and nearly every trip some one breaks some thing and the car is down for the rest of trip. Usually a simple weld job would get the car back in to play and save the trip.
Given the cost of fuel alone to haul a trailer full of toys to the dunes the cost of the Trek 180 is irrelevant! Nothing worse than going for a week long trip and having a break down on the first day.
I considered a corded 110 welder and borrowed a Lincoln 140 to see if I could run if off my Honda 2000i generator (great little geni), but it was not near enough power neither was the 2500 watt inverter in the toyhauler. So a corded 110 welder was out. Plugged in to garage the Lincoln 140 was able to make some decent welds on my buggy frame, but had to cranked up to 95% of it's power to make an acceptable weld.
Well I took the plunge and ordered the Trek 180 any way.
When it arrived I lifted it out of the packaging and it was smaller and lighter than I expected. The out side of the Trek is made like a military style hard polymer ribbed case, very robust, I am surprised Hobart does not mention this in there description.
After charging the Trek for 2 hours per the instructions prior to the first use, I set it up at power level 6 of 10 and welded a 4" piece of exhaust tubing to a 1/4" flange. On battery power only I was able to weld all the way around with out the charge status light changing at all. The weld was better than I expected, very little splatter and very nice bead after knocking the flux off. I did not even have to grind the weld to pretty it up!
This was another concern I had, how well flux core welds would end up looking, would I need to get a tank of gas to make a pretty welds?
Other cheap flux core machines from Harbor some thing made ugly though functionable welds and I was not about to spend this kind of money for those kind of results. As already stated the Trek makes surprisingly nice welds and I am no longer considering purchasing a tank.
Back to welding, I took a couple of scrap pieces of 3/16 thick steal 6" long and welded them from one end to the other. I did this a couple of times and then turned the Trek to full power to see what it would do. Welding over the top of the previous welds I made it about 5" sweeping side to side about 3/4" wide before the low voltage light came on and I had to stop.
I was able to weld the first project and the test pieces all on one charge. No question at all I could repair any of the break downs I have had on a single charge!
The next day I decided to see how well the Trek would do plugged so I used two more scraps of 3/16 by 1" by 6" and started welding set to power level 8 I made several passes taking some breather breaks and found I could weld about three times as long while plugged in only loosely respecting the recommended duty cycle.
On battery the machine performs as advertised, but while plugged in the Trek welds hotter and for at least as long as as any other 110 welder I have used.
The Trek 180 does many things well an is with out question the most powerful 110 welder you can get, while you are not going to be able to open a fabrication shop using this machine, you will be able to most every thing the average DIY guy needs to do. This machine is quality!I recently bought this welder and I absolutely love it, its portability! I'm a weekend DIY (do-it-yourselfer) guy, and I have been welding for about two years now--so I don't ever get involved with anything more than 1/4" thick metal at the most. Anyway, I really like the option to be "off the grid" and being able to haul this welder anywhere (e.g., camping, four-wheeling, to a friend's house for a quick-fix welding job for them, in a parking lot, etc.). It is extremely well made, durable, and easy to setup. My first fabrication project involved upgrading the wheels (casters) on a Craftsman "creeper" that I have had forever. I wanted casters with brake knobs on them, so when I am laying underneath a vehicle using the creeper I would not roll around when I am wrenching on a tough bolt. The problem was the upgrade 3" casters with brakes that I bought from a local Harbor Freight store could not spin freely; the larger casters were hitting the creeper's frame rail. So I welded tiny, rectangular 16-gauge steel plates to cover over the existing four corner holes for a total of eight weld points (4 plates on each side of the frame), then drilled new holes just to the inside of where the previous holes were so the casters could then spin freely from their new location. The short version is the welder performed flawlessly, with good penetration, a nice even weld puddle, and sharp-looking welds, even at lower voltage using .030 E71T-GS wire. Once you get your settings dialed in for the job at hand, you won't want to stop welding with this machine.
Buy Hobart 500539 Trek 180 Battery-Powered or 115-Volt Corded Portable MIG Welder Now
This is a very well built machine. I purchased this machine to be able to weld off grid for small emergency repairs, It does a fantastic job for that task. I have welded with it just on a 50' ext cord also and it welded great.I have only used it for flux core use so I cannot comment on its ability to weld with gas.
I would recommend this machine to anybody needing needing to weld off grid for small repairs or can only use 110 v.Absolutely outstanding welder. Choose your wire carefully as it seems to perform
much better with .30 wire and smaller. Simply plan on making multiple passes and
you will find that the welds are very good quality. I wouldn't bother setting it
up with gas as it's endurance simply isn't worth the trouble of all the extra baggage.
It really shines as a flux core wire emergency welder which can take on some of the
fieldwork usually reserved for big gas powered welder. Just having it sitting in
my work truck gives me such peace of mind as it can certainly tack together most
equipment problems well enough to finish the day and then properly repair it. Has
saved me many thousands in just the few months I've owned it.
I have found I can get a 1/2" weld about 4-6" long on a single charge. Takes a bunch
of passes and cleaning between them due to the light wire but we're only talking about
15 to 20 minutes of time to put a down machine back to work at least though the end of
the day.
I can't recommend this welder strongly enough.
