Okay, I don't know if it is just me, but this thing takes all night to charge a single battery. I have two of these and both of them work but it takes all night for the battery to become charged. Now I don't know if this is because the batteries are very high capacity or if this device just charges them very slowly so I can't say anything bad about the product because I don't know. Just seems a little strange.

It seems that I received some kind of mess up in my order. It says that it is for the Sony NP-F550 everywhere on the box and on the back of the unit, however the front of the unit says it is made for a different battery also made by sony and as such it does not fit the Sony NP-F550 battery. Seems to me like there was an error in the production. Just my luck.

They didn't charge the phones half the time and wouldn't even fit tight into the cigarette lighter in the car. I have yet to see if it's a rapid charger, but will repost on this review once I find out (just got it today). This is a quality Samsung product and works fine for charging the phone while driving using it as a cellphone. Just be aware that it does not put out enough charging amperage to keep the phone charged if you are using it for navigation on the dashboard. I bought this because it was economically priced and compact despite being concerned that it'd fail shortly. But I thought, heck -if I get six months of use out of it, it'll be worth it.

I started using it and it worked fine as you would expect but after two uses (about 3 days of ownership). It stopped working. It also does not have a user replaceable fuse meaning that this is now trash.

I'll be throwing it away and buying different one.

This charger is solidly made. It doesn't have the flimsy feel of many after market chargers, and the price is excellent. It works great with both my Galaxy Nexus and my wife's Droid Charge.

We have several cars and I just bought a second of these. We also have a Motorola charger which is likewise of good quality and works fine, but this one is superior for two reasons. First, it has a longer cord which is not coiled. I suppose this is a matter of personal preference since a coiled cord is less likely to tangle in the car, but I find that the tug you get from a coiled cord to be annoying, not to mention that it won't work well at all if you want to mount your device to use, for example, as a GPS.

The second advantage of this charger is the USB aspect. When traveling or arriving at the office you can simply disengage it from the lighter plug and charge your phone from your laptop.

You can't go wrong with this one. Highly recommended.

I was looking for low power converters with UK style plugs to use with my US cordless phone chargers in Nigeria. I purchased 3 of the voltage converters and have used them for about two months with no problems so far. The three have been in continuous use with wide fluctuations in input voltage due to daily power failures and switching to backup generators. Although they are rated at 50 watts, my application probably only loads them to about 5 watts maximum.

Note that many chargers use switching regulators and will work with either 120 or 240 volt input so you may not need a step down converter just an adapter to make the physical connection to the local outlets. My cordless phone chargers were labeled as 120 volt only so I ordered the step down converters and have been happy with them.

I am new to HAM but wanted to see what this little guy could do, and not spend a ton of money.

With all hand held radios the problem is the small antenna. I can get ok reception but I live out in the sticks. I hooked up a roll up Jpole and wow. I cant wait to hook it up to a bigger antenna. You can have 100's memory set ups, several ways to scan. Like I said I am new and was a bit worried about all the different settings etc the book tells you step by step. I dont know how to do everything that this guy can do but you will pick up the regular settings easy enough. So far I have picked everything from police bands, EMS, Wendy's drive up, voice of america, voice of cuba, voices of I cant speak it, HAM chat, about 6 weather chans, regular AM/FM. I got all this from the regular antenna and the roll up J pole. This was in just a few days of messing around.

It is easy to travel with this. Throw it in the car, back pack, just a pocket. You can also order an AA battery pack so its easy to power it up if away from a charger.

Only thing not great are the small buttons, thats not a biggie since this thing is just bigger than a pager.

I owned this radio for only a couple of weeks. It has a wide band amplifier that is very susceptible to nearby transmitters. The police were coming in stronger than the frequency I was tuned to. It was a common problem whenever I was within a few miles of a tv or fm transmitter. If you're out in the boonies you may not have this problem, but near a city you may find your signal to noise ratio to be less than 1 a lot of the time. Not for me. I replaced it with an FT60, which works fine.

New Potato Technologies TuneLink Auto Bluetooth in Car Stereo Wireless Adapter for Android (Black)

This is a great product and worked out of the box. I tried it with a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and an Asus Transformer prime. We have Apple and Droid devices in our family, but I found that I could not pair an Apple iTouch with this device. On contacting New Potato support, I was told:

"If you want to use TuneLink for both Android and Apple devices, you need to be using the Apple version of TuneLink. From a hardware standpoint, these 2 are virtually identical, but the Android version is missing some parts that allow it to communicate with Apple devices."

So now I have to return this and buy the other version which is annoying.

Hopefully this will help others choose the correct version.

I have used TuneLink Android with both the AUX out and the FM Transmitter, and I think both sound excellent. The AUX obviously is more clear and the way to go if you have an input in your car, but the FM is great as well. In response to the other reviews on here that talk about a "lisp" sound or distorted "S" sounds, all you have to do if this is happening is turn the phone's volume down a few clicks. The FM volume is a bit boosted when the phone is turned all the way up, and for loud material, I noticed the same thing until I turned it down. The little boost is great though when listening to audiobooks or spoken word that is quiter though...

All in all, great product!

I read reviews before purchasing this unit and they indicated this is the best quality FM transmitter to produce almost broadcast quality sound. I did not find that to be the case. I have returned it. I'm also surprised by the written return policy of the vendor. It states a refund will be subject to fees if the product is not returned unopened. How the blazes can you know if it works properly and is worth the money, unless you do open and try it? It was the most expensive unit of the ones I was considering, so I expected it to be at least satisfactory in sound quality, but it wasn't. It produced a static "lisp" type of sound on all high frequency sounds such as a cymbal strike or anything with an "S" sound in a word.

Update. Even though my package was returned and it was obviously opened, since I returned it for reasons of dissatisfaction, I did get a full refund.

I really, really want to like this device. And when it works, it's fantastic. I use the line-out (not the FM transmitter) and the sound quality is great.

But that's only part of the story. I've been through three of these since I bought mine. The first two had a thermal issue that would cause them to stop working, which is a problem considering this thing is going to sit outside in your car. New Potato did replace them, but it cost me about $10 to ship it back every time.

The real problem, though, is that for some reason my Galaxy Nexus and this thing don't play nice. They will connect every time, but eventually the A2DP will break down and the audio won't work. Sometimes it's enough to unplug the Tunelink and plug it back in, sometimes I have to turn Bluetooth off and back on on the phone, and sometimes I have to do both. Then other times I have to unplug the Tunelink and turn the phone off and on. I have no idea who's fault it is, but it basically makes the device useless.

New Potato spent time helping me, but the last email I got from them was "hey, we have no idea. There's another guy with a Galaxy Nexus but he says it's fine". I was hoping the update to Android 4.0.4 would help, but it didn't.

Automatic Bluetooth connecting and Audio Quality...

The first pairing was simple and setup was done in less than 2 minutes. Note: Be sure that when you plug the receiver device in to the power adapter of your truck you make sure you pick one that that cycles the power with the key on/off. Turning the key on and giving it power is what tells it to start looking for the paired phone. In my Nissan this is in the Arm console. When I start the truck it powers the device, the device automatically looks for the phone and connects within 10 seconds all without any user input (VERY NICE!!!). When I turn off the truck it automatically pauses the MP3 playback. With the receiver device being in the arm console I was worried that I might have reception issues or audio quality loss. However being in the console I had no issues with the wireless connection or quality. Audio quality is as good as a direction wire connection. I use the AUX jack on my stereo to connect the receiver to my stereo. As such I did not test the FM transmitter.

Automatic Media Playback...

Using the latest version of their TuneLink app from the Google Playstore Market the app allows you to pick a default MP3 or Music playback program. If you install this app and pick a default music app the phone will still do all of the above Bluetooth connecting automatically, PLUS it will automatically start/resume playback of the last MP3 you were playing, right where you left off. For me this worked perfectly the first time. However after it resumed, my phone displayed an error that the TuneLink app has stopped working. After that crash the auto playback resume feature no longer worked without manual help from me. This could be that the app is not playing nicely with my Samsung Note II. The auto pause when turning the truck off works with or without the app on my phone.

Overview...

This product is exactly what I was looking for: Get in to my truck and have the phone automatically connect to the audio system. I am very pleased with this device and find it worth the few extra bucks you might pay over some similar devices that don't offer the automatic connect feature. NOTE: The above auto connect assumes you have bluetooth turned on, on your phone.

One final note...

This unit is NOT for people looking to create an option for Bluetooth hands-free phone conversations. Unlike some similar devices this product only supports media over Bluetooth. My truck already has a Bluetooth hands-free option for talking on the phone, so that is not something I need. If you already have hands-free in your car this device works perfectly in conjunction with you current hands-free and will even pause the music while you take a call through your cars hands-free system. But if hands-free phone calls is something that you are looking to get from this device, then you need to look for a different product such as the Belkin Bluetooth Truck Hands-Free Kit which offers both Media and Phone calls over Bluetooth but does not support the automatic connection like this device does.

The fuse holder is so big that there is no way to fish it through your firewall without either drilling a large hole or cutting the fuse holder off.

The cable that comes on the unit is not nearly as long as it needs to be.

This product was a huge disappointment! I plugged this into my car and it seem like this charger was confusing my frequency and my radio started humming. In addition my phone did NOT charge and I didn't leave it on long enough to see if it would charge because I was afraid that it would damage my car electric outlet or my phone's frequency. The cord that pulls out is very thin almost like a rubber piece of yarn that can easily snap. This item MAY be cheap but NOT worth it... save your money. You get what you pay for and its worth paying a few extra dollars for a product that actually works.

This charger does what it's supposed to do. The retracting cable is a really nice feature. I feel like it's a really thin wire, much thinner than any other phone charger I've ever seen, but that isn't an issue. The only issue I've had is an odd, intermittent one. When plugged in, my device (4th generation iPod Touch) will occasionally say that charging isn't supported with the device, but when unplugged and plugged back in, the warning goes away and the device begins to charge. First off, the striped ones are the coolest. I'm reviewing the blue in particular because it's the only one I got that is NOT COLOR ACCURATE. Looks sky blue on Amazon photos but it's actually more teal, which is not my cup of tea. I Love it, its so sexy... my friends and sisters wanted to steal it! it has an adapter for the mini USB to iphone, so u can use it in others stuff as well.

It is really small, so I Would recomend it if you are working with your phone when you plug it since it can be uncomfortable, speccially since it is flat and it isn't so flexible. That doesn't bother me since long cables only make mess on my desk. so i rather have a small one

As stated in another review, the bare leads are small gauge so be careful stripping and soldering they're delicate.

This charger puts my Galaxy Nexus into "AC Charging" mode, as opposed to those cheap chargers which only put it into "USB Charging" mode. The label on the charger states it outputs 1.5A. I haven't tested it extensively yet, but it seems to withstand navigation with the screen on while still charging. I will update to confirm this once I've used it for a longer period of time.

UPDATE: I have been using this charger just about daily for the last 9 months. It still performs well, and has held up to repeated connections and disconnections. Even with music streaming via bluetooth and navigation running with the screen on, it will charge the battery (though obviously at a slower rate than when at idle). I am very satisfied with this product!

This product is exactly what I needed to complete my hard wired charger install in my car. Seems to work great after 2 weeks of use. Only drawback to this product is the small lead wires which when soldering can't be heated up too much (if your good at soldering this is no problem). Other wise a great product at a great price!

Does what is suppose to. It's worth noting that it has an internal fuse, which is cool. If you want to take it apart, there is a screw under the label. There's no way to differentiate the input from the output if you cut the USB header off, just FYI. If you do that, the fused side is the input.
