Gomadic Intelligent Compact Car / Auto DC Charger for the Magellan Roadmate 2035 - 2A / 10W power a

Gomadic Intelligent Compact Car / Auto DC Charger for the Magellan Roadmate 2035 - 2A / 10W power at half the size. Uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology
  • Gomadic TipExchange Technology protects your investment by providing a means to change/upgrade your charger by simply swapping the physical charging tip. (Charging tip for Magellan Roadmate 2035) included with additional tips sold separately)
  • Intelligent circuit provides precise output voltage and resistor configuration specific to the Magellan Roadmate 2035. This ensures battery is safely and efficiently charged without affecting battery longevity.
  • Charger provides a full 10W (2,000mAh) of available current in a small form factor a little over 1 inch long. Flexible, straight cable measure 50 inches in total length.
  • Backed by the Gomadic Lifetime Warranty. This is a quality product that is built to be the last car charger you ever buy!
  • Generous input voltage range of 12-24VDC, supports a wide variety of DC charging ports from cars and trucks (both foreign and domestic) to boats, planes and RVs.

We bought this charger after debating whether we should or not because of some of the mixed reviews. We decided to give it a try and are so disappointed we did.

Initially the charger worked, and just recently while on a trip it broke. The little green light does not work when we plug it into the car, and it does not seem to be a fuse with our car since the cell phone chargers are working fine in the car lighter. The super bummer is that it only lasted 45 days...long enough to pass the 30 day return window and yet not long enough to get us through our family vacation.

That said, I am emailing the company because the charger has a lifetime warranty and so far they have responded to my email stating that I should check he fuse in the car. It's not a issue with the car, so I am hoping to either get the charger replaced or refunded. A replacement or refund does not change the fact that we were on vacation with our family and lost because we couldn't use our GPS. Save yourself some trouble and buy another charger.

UPDATE:

The company has very promptly answered my emails and concerns and has shipped me a replacement charger. I misunderstood the original email they sent thinking their customer service was asking me to check the fuse in my car, but they were asking me to check the fuse in the charger. Even before I could check the charger fuse they company sent me a new charger. They were easy to contact and willing to send a replacement charger. I have changed my original rating from one star to 4 since they are honoring the warranty and keeping things simple. Things break so for me, customer service is key in purchasing products.

Original MiTAC OEM Vehicle Power Adapter Car Charger Cable Cord for Magellan Maestro GPS Series

Original MiTAC OEM Vehicle Power Adapter Car Charger Cable Cord for Magellan Maestro GPS Series
  • Power your GPS in your vehicle
  • Recharge your GPS battery
  • Replaces the standard vehicle power adapter

This is the original car adapter/charger for the Magellan RoadMate. The adapter works fine, charges the unit as intended, but the design on the adapter 12V end of the plug is flawed. The 12V plastic casing around the electrical conductor can break off inside your 12V car adapter. It happened to me and several others that purchased the RoadMate unit. I won't be replacing mine with this cable.

Buy Original MiTAC OEM Vehicle Power Adapter Car Charger Cable Cord for Magellan Maestro GPS Series Now

So far, no problems with it! Works fine with my Magellan 4250, esp after the original one got dysfunctional. Definitely cheaper than buying the stock name brand.

Mine turned out to be bad at the worst possible time on Conn. avenue in DC this past summer. Finally just gettin' around to replacing it .. if that doesn't work I'll just buy a new 7" this time around.

But you have to wonder why so many of us need to be buying this adapter in the first place. The replacement sure sounds second rate also .........

Want Original MiTAC OEM Vehicle Power Adapter Car Charger Cable Cord for Magellan Maestro GPS Series Discount?

This works and my GPS is back to life again !!!! Great Product and worth it..The Cord is big enough and looks good...This product is much better than the 4$ one's sold here or the 25-30$ one's sold at RadioShack/Walmart/Best-Buy. The seller is awesome in service and would definitely recommend. Thank You International GPS.

If the cord that arrived at my house was the cord pictured, then I would have given this review 5 stars. Instead, I received a different cord that doesn't fit in my Magellan 1470. I need the mini USB and the one that arrived had the regular round end to plug into the GPS unit. I gave one star because I don't think you can post a review with no stars. Epic Fail!

EZOPower "Apple Certified" 90° Rotatable Rapid Car Charger w/ IC Chip - No Overcharging for Apple

EZOPower 'Apple Certified' 90° Rotatable Rapid Car Charger w/ IC Chip - No Overcharging for Apple iPhone 4S 4 4G 4GS 3G 3GS, iPod Touch Nano Video Classic - Black / Copper OrangeItem arrived quickly and works w/my otterbox cover. It sometimes feels like it will pop out but doesn't....It works fine, and for the price...worth it!

The first one I received would not fit in my phone so they sent me another one. Five stars for customer service. I don't use the unit very often but for your information, it will not plug into an iPhone that has a case.

The car charger works great, I got it at a great price. There's not much else to say about it.

Decent inexpensive Apple iPhone/iPod charger. One flaw is that the "dock" connector is larger than the standard Apple connector, so it doesn't work with all protective cases (especially the thicker ones). I have to take the case off my phone to use this charger. That's worthy of a 3-star rating because they could easily have made it the standard Apple size without any new engineering.

So far the charger works just fine and for ten bucks it's hard to complain too much.

I had ordered a generic (cheap) "Apple Approved" car charger previously for my Iphone 4S and it didn't work out of the box. Apple logo lit up, but phone would not charge.

I was skeptical this one would work, but phone charges just fine. The only thing I don't like is the cord is a bit short and isn't particularly "springy".

Hyundai iPod Cable

Hyundai iPod Cable
  • OEM Product/ Wholesale price

I recently bought a 2012 Hyundai Accent. I was so bummed when I came home and plugged in my iphone cord into the car and the phone just kept clicking and saying unable to read. I Google'd the problem and found out that you have to buy a Hyundai cord! Which is 45+ at the dealership. I bought this cord and it works wonderfully!! I definitely recommend to anyone wanting to just listen to their ipod or Pandora in the car. It even says what artist and song are playing! Great item for the price. Also bought this with some other things for the free shipping!

Now it is August and the cord no longer charges my phone. Not sure what happened, it charged before and now both of our iphones no longer charge. It still plays the much, but very bummed that it quit charging...so now my battery dies during my commute because Pandora drains your battery...is anyone else having this issue?!?

Buy Hyundai iPod Cable Now

I bought this cable thinking that it would give me some sort of increased functionality over the standard iPhone USB cable -it does not. In fact, I get less functionality with this cable. I'm not sure if that's due to the cable itself or the way the vehicle handles the AUX inputs when the cable is used, but this is what I found:

When I connect the Hyundai iPod Cable to my iPhone 4, the Santa Fe's screen says "AUX connected" and my iPhone says it's charging. I can then play music over the Santa Fe's speakers but I need to use the phone to control everything -I can't select songs via the Santa Fe's music controls. I also can't pause or skip tracks.

If I use the standard, white iPhone USB cable I get much more functionality. The Santa Fe's screen shows me all of the album info (including album art) and allows me to play/pause/skip tracks. This also holds true if I'm playing Pandora on my phone.

In short, the cable that comes with your iPod/iPhone gives you MUCH more functionality than the Hyundai iPod Cable -don't waste your money on it.

Easy, fun and can't beat the price...totally would recommend the vendor, received within days even though the estimate was 2-weeks.

Buyer be warned, the dealer will try to charge you $40 for this, I have NEVER had a problem with it use it for iPod, 4 generaions of iPhones and still no problems do not waste your money at the dealers.

When connected to my 5310, it recognizes it as being connected to a computer, which locks the screen. The gps isnt usable when connected. Not only this but the wall charger keeps getting caught in the socket, and makes some sparks when being plugged. It also makes an annoying humming noise, Im not sure if its electricity, or a fan in the charger itself but its very troubling. Even though it was cheap, and I took a gamble on buying it, I would like the things I purchase that say they work with my gps, to actually work with it.

I spent $25 on a universal GPS car charger at Radioshack a year ago, and it gave me nothing but problems in that time. So far, this charger worked right off the bat and aside from the cord being a little short, it is great.

Perfect Fit Handlebar Bike Mount For iphone 4 / 3G / 3Gs,

Perfect Fit Handlebar Bike Mount For iphone 4 / 3G / 3Gs,I road bike alot and thought it would be a great way to have my phone and bike app at my finger tips.... But the way to attach to the bar was far to limited and small. Once I found a place to attach it, it was great for a whole week when it fell apart... the ring to tighten it down broke and so it's a waste of money.

Ignoring the warnings of other reviews, I purchased this device and only got around to using this week. I mounted it properly and it seemed to fit snug and secure.

I mounted it on my road bike. About five miles into a smooth ride I hit a small bump. The phone FLEW off bike, crashing down on the pavement. The velocity of the impact was more than my iPhone could withstand and was DESTROYED. The bracket was still on the phone it had separated into two pieces. Half staying on the bike the rest taking an express trip to the pavement with my iPhone.

Amazon should NOT be selling this defective and dangerous item. Shame on them. The $15 device will now cost me hundreds of dollars to recoup.

This was purchased from Amazon. The seller is AKRON. I will NEVER do business with them again and suggest you move with caution if you do. At least in this instance they are knowingly selling defective products and so is Amazon. Amazon should be ashamed. Read the other reviews. Don't make my mistake. This is JUNK.

You have been warned. Very poor product. Poorly designed. Poorly engineered. Poorly built.

Since I can't give negative stars, I will give this one.

so i purchased the "perfect fit handlebar bike mount for iphone 4 / 3g / 3gs" a few weeks ago, and finally got around to fitting it to my bike. everything seemed solid enough, but then on my first ride out with it, i hit a moderate bump in the road and my iphone popped out of the mount (inside the cradle, luckily) and went flying across the street. now i get to replace the glass on my iphone.

Read Best Reviews of Perfect Fit Handlebar Bike Mount For iphone 4 / 3G / 3Gs, Here

This mount broke on the 2nd use. The plastic mount if not strong enough to hold on a bike. The mounting options are very limited because it fits only on a 1" tube. It will not fit over handle bar tape on a road bike.

I'm just glad that it broke while I was installing it indoors rather than at 20 mph on the road.

Want Perfect Fit Handlebar Bike Mount For iphone 4 / 3G / 3Gs, Discount?

I bought one of these for my iPhone 3Gs. It doesn't seem that secure. I see in the manual it says not to use it on bumpy roads. So what kind of product is this?

From the manual "To insure that your device is secured to the pedestal, Arkon Resources, Inc. recomends using a strap to secure your device when using with Arkon cradles, universal cradles, or other products. This pedestal is not designed for off-road use or bumpy roads. If not secured properly, your device may fly off and become damaged."

Bearcat BC60XLT-1 Handheld Scanner with 30 Channels and 10 Bands

Bearcat BC60XLT-1 Handheld Scanner with 30 Channels and 10 BandsThis is a basic, entry-level scanner. It has a lot of nice features and the price is low. This is by far the most popular scanner used at NASCAR race tracks. Fans can listen in to the conversations between the pit crews and drivers. If that's all you want, then this radio fits the bill perfectly. It's VERY light weight, and runs a long time on a few AA batteries. If you buy recharable Ni-Cads, the radio can charge them without having to take them out and place them in a seperate changer. I've owned many Uniden products over the years. Never had any problems. That said......

If you want a scanner to listen to your local police, fire, ambulance, etc... This scanner >MIGHT< not be the one for you. This scanner only goes up to 512 Mhz. Many, many emergency services have gone up to 800 Mhz, with sophisticated "trunking" services. Bottom line, this radio can't receive them. To be sure, you should do a search through Google. Try "police frequencies" + (your town or county.) Google should return numerous sites that will show you if your local frequencies are in range of this radio.

Besides the above, you can listen in to aircraft, some Coast Guard operations, trains, taxis, who knows what else.

This is a very nice scanner for the price.

I've owned this scanner for a couple years now and it's been reliable and trouble-free. In the San Francisco Bay Area I get a variety of signals: several police dispatch, security companies, ambulance, taxi, ham, even a neighbor's baby monitor. It has proven to be very sturdy (it's been dropped on a few occasions), and the ability to recharge batteries inside the unit (using the AC adaptor) is a nice feature.

Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability

Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability
  • 1GB storage capacity for up to 50 hours of music
  • Up to 15 hours playback or five hours live XM radio on a single charge
  • 1.7-inch full-color TFT LCD (180 x 180 pixel resolution)
  • Record from live XM Satellite Radio, play back MP3 and WMA audio files
  • One-year limited warranty

I've had XM for four years, and this is the third type of unit I've had, and it is, by far, the best. I owned the portable Delphi unit, which worked fine. I bought this Inno for a friend, and when I saw it, I fell in love and bought one myself.

Why I love it:

Size: It is small, and sleek. It comes with a little leather case to protect it (bravo to Pioneer for not making me spend another $30 on an after-market case!) on the go.

Reception: It has an internal antenna that little stub on the top of it in the picture is the antenna. Unlike the old Delphi, no need for an external wire clipped to clothing for reception; the reception is GREAT and smooth.

Battery: I haven't gone out all day yet, but after three hours yesterday, the battery was still over half charged. The battery indicator is clear as well. BTW, the unit comes with a slight charge, so you can "play" with it right away; no maddening "please wait 8 hours before first use."

Recording: Easy to quickly record a station, a single song, and even schedule a recording in the future. This is good for the talk radio channels.

Menu: Easy to flip through and select menus. The display screen is a great improvement; it isn't just color because it's cool; it's designed to make navigation easier.

Power: No need to lug cradle on trips. It comes with an additional more compact charger for travel. Thanks!

Why someone might complain:

Earphones: I've read reviews complaining about the earbuds. Yes, they are cheap, but so what? I've got so many other ones scattered about, it isn't really an issue. I use my ipod buds, my Bose headset, whatever. Who cares about the little earbuds? It's just something so the package is complete, and you can listen right away.

FM Modulator: Not internal to the unit, but must be purchased with the car or other kit. But then again, there are so many of those on the market, I appreciate that they didn't eat up size/functions with the modulator that is easily added on elsewhere. This is a PORTABLE unit. I don't really need a modulator when I'm out walking around...

Memory: Again, I've heard complaints about the storage size for books and recordings. I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been a slot for a card, but I'm okay with that. I've got an ipod; I'll leave my books on there. I'll use this radio as a RADIO.

OVERALL it's great. Reception is good and consistent, screen easy to navigate, solid battery charge, and the accessories in the box are great no need to buy aftermarket anything.

Buy Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability Now

I've had this radio for a few weeks, and I think I can give an accurate review now. This is my first time having satellite radio, and I love it! The station selection is awesome, but I will not go there because I am not reviewing XM.

The Inno is sized about the same as an iPod, and it is really sleek (and slick for that matter.) As this is intended for all around use (car, home, and portable) it is very adaptable. I think it is very neat that when sitting sideways on the dock the Inno automatically switches sideways so you can look at the screen face on. The pad adjusts as well, so everything is very logical.

Some of the main features that are impressive are:

--The recording capability--even if you are almost all the way through the song you can get the whole thing!

--The bookmark capability. You can bookmark an artist or a particular song and anytime that artist or song is playing on any station the Inno will let you know so you can switch over.

--The ability to create a "favorites" list of stations.

--The ability to display the current song/artist on any given station.

--The option to have sports/stock tickers running that shows scores, etc, while listening to the radio.

OK, there's a ton of useful options. Really, I just love being able to listen to what I want on a very cool little "toy." Having never owned a satellite radio before, I am not an "expert" and I'm sure this has flaws, but don't point them out to me. I will likely not hear you because I will be plugged into my radio!

Read Best Reviews of Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability Here

I bought my Inno2 on Monday. It's my first XM radio, and I've never owned Sirius, so understand that this is a first timer's point of view.

What I *love* about this unit: You can record XM radio, and replay it later. Where I work and use the unit mostly is in an office without a way to use the required antenna for reception. Even though this unit claimes to be portable, it still won't work indoors, w/o direct line of sight to the satelite (read see the southern sky.) BUT, you can record up to 50 hours or so of XM radio. You can recored multiple sessions of different stations, which is very cool. I like liquid metal, alt rock and gangsta rap. I recored about 30 hours of music this week, brought the docking bay into my office, and listened away. You can also build custom playlists from the recorded music (from different sessions, channels, etc, mix and match as much as you like.) When you record sessions of radio, it saves the songs like MP3 w/ artist and song and genre info. You can use this to create playlists of a particular genre, or mix and match in any way you like. You can also search for song, artist, genre and play a particular song from whatever you recorded previously.

If you select to listen to a recorded session, it's just like listening live has all the artist info scrolling, etc. If you make a playlist with random songs (or shuffle them) then you do have one small inconvenience the start and end of each song will have fade in and outs of other songs mixed in. This is because when recording something that was live, they cross-faded the songes. When playing a whole recorded session, it sounds perfectly natural of course. Personaly this is rarly even noticeable when playing playlists of random songs.. But if you are a perfectionist get ready for a slight annoyance. One more note XM is perhaps commercial free, but it still has promotional announcements and odd bits of interest (like a 2Min interviwe w/ an artist, etc.) They get saved to memory just like other songs, and you can delete them when you run across them during playback later if you are so inclined.

I would have given this unit 5 stars except that the menu system just plain makes me cry. Perhaps it's because this is my first XM unit, but coming from the MP3 player world, doing simple tasks like adding songs to a playlist are accomplish. For instance, to add music to a playlist, you dont' go to the playlist section go to the recorded music, find the genre, pic an individual song, then select 'add to playlist' from there. If you want to add an entire genre or recorded channel's music, you do it by pretending you want to add just one song from that selection, then when you have the 'add to playlist' selected for that one song, it has an option to add them all. But I'm getting more comfortable with the menu system, and I still am very very glad I got this badboy.

The unit itself feels very solid. The buttons seem like they'll last a LONG time, there's no loose fitting parts. It's fairly well sealed, I suppose it can handle light rain or the occasional light laugh induced soda nose spray. The screen is sweet to say the least. Turn the unit on its side to put it in the docking station, and the whole screen rotates 90Degrees, as do the buttons, so that even on its side the button layout and words are properly orientated. This makes the thing feel realy well developed. The info on the display is easy to read, you can pick small or large fonts, and a stock ticker if you're big into money.

The system comes with an antenna, a docking bay, wall-plug power supply, some headphones and an adapter cord (for using the power plug without the docking bay.) The docking bay is solid, sits at a great angle to display the unit (it is tilted back just a small bit,) and the unit plugs in snug-n-easy. There is an audio-out on the docking bay, for playing through a stereo (cord included). You can use the headphone jack while the system is in the docking bay, allowing you to use the remote control's volume. The remote is great, even when using on a desk w/in reach, because you don't have to grab the whole system to change a song. The headphones are ok, but I am MUCH happier with the sound I get from my Sony $20 headphones. The included headphones are very comfortable, but have only a fair sound quality, with little bass. I've never seen a system ship with decent headphones, so this is status quoe in my book.

You can upload MP3s and such to the unit, which is plug-n-play with the provided USB cable. You can not to my knowledge play movies on it. I was trying to get away from that whole upload MP3 song and dance, so while I tested it, and it worked, I'd rather grab tens of hours of DJ provided music for literaly $13 a month. To play recorded XM radio, you have to maintain your XM radio account, of course.

While XM has something for everyone, personaly, I find that it only has probably 10-15 channels I'll ever listen too. There are 170 channels of course, but get rid of the sports and country music, the news channels, etc, and it has a comfortable selection of usable channels to keep me entertained and awake while working.

While this unit has an entenna built in, using the unit without a connected antenna (i.e. standing outside if you turn in a cirle while listening to it in your hand, it'll probably lose signal. But in a car, home w/ the antenna in a window, or listening to pre-recorded music, it's just phenominal. SO just because it looks like a portable radio, don't expect to put it in your pocket and use it while mountain bike riding unless you'er playing pre-recorded music. From what I have heard, the antenna headphones might work ok, but I haven't tried them, nor do I plan to step back into the 1990's and have a C-Clamp strapped to my cranium once again.

I couldn't be happier with this thing all in all. It's cool, sounds great, feels solid. I figure it was worth every penny of the $200 I paid.

As a side note, the car docking bay feels pretty fragile. It hangs from the A/C or Heating Vents in your dash, it's wiggly, and bounces around a little when you go over small bumps and around corners.

Want Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability Discount?

The Inno is my first satellite radio. I bought it mainly as a means of getting to listen to new music without having to go hunt for it, or listen to endless adverts. The fact that the Inno is portable was a major factor in deciding on this particular unit.

Pros its reasonably well made (not as nicely finished as an iPod, but not cheap feeling either). It comes with a reasonable set of earbuds. The XM channel selection is superb!

Cons the door to the battery compartment is held on with some really flimsy tabs, I wouldn't like to change battery often since these will likely break off after a few uses. The sound quality of XM radio is not as good as I thought it would be (this is not a comment on this radio, rather its a comment on all satellite radios the talk shows sound like AM, the music sounds like some low bps MP3s. All in all the sound is quite murky and sibilant compared to an iPod and decent earphones. That said, its good enough for casual listening while outdoors. I'm just glad I didn't pay $990 to get XM fitted as an option in my car!).

The Inno does what I need it to do. What it doesn't do is play well as a 'live' XM radio outdoors. Trees and buildings (or even your arm) frequently get in the way of the signal, and the sound dies. Making it too annoying to use. Since nothing I listen to is time sensitive its fine to record big chunks of music and listen to that instead. Its painless to record many hours of music once a week, or even less frequently, and that works for days.

Indoors the unit works well with the antenna that comes included. Even with trees in the way it gets a strong signal, even when the antenna is quite far from the window.

Bottom line. In the future, when the technology advances and the bitrate improves, XM radio will be awesome. Currently its good, provided you are prepared to focus on the content and not the sound quality. The Inno is excellent for using when you are biking, running or walking, provided you are in an area with excellent signal and no trees, or you don't mind listening to recorded material.

The Inno was a good buy, and one that I'm thoroughly enjoying using. But, stil a few years off being perfect. I'm guessing I'll be replacing the Inno when something better comes along in a couple of years time.

Oh, since people mention this in other reviews I've turned all the available recording space to XM use, and don't intend using it for storing my mp3s. It would be too annoying ot listen to high bitrate mp3s and then switch back to XM radio quality. Nor do I intend to use it in the car for live radio, I'm sticking to pre-recorded stuff.

I drive a lot on highways so wanted to give satellite radio a try. I once hesitated because installing the external antenna seemed to be troublesome. Additionally, I drove two cars alternatively with my wife but only wanted to have one radio (my wife doesn't like the idea of satellite radio). That means I would need two car kits and do the installation twice.

Anyway, I still wanted to try. I picked up Pioneer Gex-Inno2BK after reading those good reviews at Amazon (the other portable one that I was interested is DelPhi SKYFI3). It turns out to be a big, good surprise: Inno2 does not need the external antenna! Well, I am talking about highways in Midwest, so keep that in mind. It does lose signal occasionally when my vehicle passes under bridges. Actually most bridges are fine, and when the radio lost signal it's just a couple of seconds.

It also works fine in the local roads of Chicago suburban areas where the signal is mostly from terrestrial repeater (with occasional loss of signal). I also used it in a small town in Iowa with no terrestrial repeater. It works better than in Chicago suburban area because the buildings there are much less dense.

The location to mount the radio does matter. I mount the radio on the air vent using a vent mount bought from Wal-Mart. If I put the radio on the passenger's seat, it may lose signal when the vehicle picks up a upslope or downslope. Using a windshield mount gives even better signal, but the vent mount works almost as well -I prefer vent mount for its lower position.

Battery life is decent in the range of about five hours. It's good enough for most of my trips. If needed, $10 chargers for Inno are available on the Internet.

Some other good surprises: I can use it in subway trains of Chicago without using headphone antenna (so far I only used it in part of the blue line and I will update on this). The signal is from terrestrial repeaters. In the Salt Lake City airport, the terrestrial repeaters are so strong that I can walk with the radio without any signal loss. I haven't purchased the headphone antenna yet.

Some cons: The screen is small for vehicle use. I use the largest display fonts and then most song titles will be rotated on the screen. There is a bug (I think so) that only part of song title is displayed when being rotated, for example, "Big Girls Don't Cry" becomes "Big Girls Don't". That's a strange software bug and I wish Inno would have a firmware fix for this. The menus do not rotate -if a menu is long and I want go to the last item, I have to move all the way to there. But those are minor issues.

update on 3/18/08: Now I have four more weeks of experience with Inno2. It still works great and I keep my rating. It works well on Chicago subways. The closer to the city center, the stronger the signal from the terrestrial repeaters. The internal antenna doesn't work well enough when I walk on the streets. Driving on the streets is not a problem, because the driveway is away from the building I believe. It is better to take some recording for walk to subway stations.

As for driving, I found that weather affects the signal (with internal antenna) slightly and in an unpredictable way. On a heavily snowing day the Inno2 got good signal all the trip, and on a cloudy it lost signal more often. Overall it works well -I did some sampling (definitely not scientific way) and concluded that I lost less that 0.5% listening time in that worst day for all kinds of reasons. Installing an external antenna should improve the condition, but to me it's not worth the associated cost, time and risk of vehicle interior damage. (Whenever there is a signal, signal strength doesn't make a difference to sound quality for digital radios.)

I found a caveat in a trip east-bound on I-80 -when I intentionally drove my car on the left lane in parallel with the CENTER part of a 18-wheel truck on the right lane, after a while the signal was lost. The XM satellite signal comes from the south and the truck could block the signal. Nevertheless, for normal passing the Inno didn't lose signal. It seems to have some buffer to tolerate glitches in signal reception.

A final word on XM radio sound quality: It is good but not close to that of iPod. With a scale from 1 to 10, I would give 10 to CD sound quality, 9 to iPod, and 7 to XM radio and the best FM radio stations. XM and FM are different: XM seems to have more clarity and those best FM stations more dynamic range. I still like XM for non-commercial music and for no need to search new FM stations every 50-80 miles.

PS I should have mentioned that the Inno2 is connected to the car audio through an aux port.

Motorcycle & Car Waterproof 3.5" Touch GPS Navigator Fully Loaded USA & Canada Maps

Motorcycle & Car Waterproof 3.5' Touch GPS Navigator Fully Loaded USA & Canada Maps
  • 1 3.5" GPS Navigation System Fully loaded with USA & Canadian Maps
  • 1 Mini USB Cable
  • 1 Car Charger/1 Home Charger/1 Device Holder
  • 1 Cradle (handle bar clamp)
  • 1 Stylus pen/User manual/Includes Spare Battery

I ride a motorcycle, generally use my smart phone for navigation but I found the cost of the waterproof case was more than this unit costs. The gps itself works well enough and since it runs on windows mobile five it should be possible to load other software onto it besides what comes with it and map updates should be pretty easy too. It comes with a mount that somewhat permanently mounts to the handlebars and has pins in the back that contact contacts on the back of the gps thus making a waterproof power connection, the mount also has a small shade so it's easier to see the screen in bright daylight. The mount also has a small stylus/screwdriver in a holder on the back of the mount. The unit has bluetooth capability so you could pair it with your bluetooth helmet headset or a dogtag style bluetooth that lets you plug standard wired helmet speakers into it.

The unit can also play mp3, display photos in jpeg format and apparently also supports electronic books (although they don't say what format it supports). This unit functions like any memory device (memory stick, mp3 player, sd card) etc. when plugged into windows XP and higher, it's seen just like a hard disk etc. and you can move files on and off it with your pc. This unit has a memory card slot inside the battery door. The outside of the unit has a rubberized power switch on the left and a mini(not micro) usb connector on the right side that has a rubberized cover to keep water out, there is also a small round hole there that might be for headphones (book doesn't mention it) or a reset button. There doesn't appear to be an external reset button or hole to put a paperclip etc. into, unless it's that little round hole next to the power jack. The mount the unit arrives with appears to be for a bicycle handlebar--tiny, it certainly will not work on the one inch handlebars common to most motorcycles (some are 1.25 inch, but most common is one inch). Due to the mount issues I went to gpscity.com and ordered RAM mount parts to fix the issue (around 20-30 bucks and you can pick the parts to your own taste as they are sold individually). The plate on the back of the mount is the industry standard four screw pattern so it was easy to order the plate with the one inch ball and mount it on the back of the gps mount, the stock screws don't work, they're too short, the RAM mount part comes with like three different lengths of screws so find what you need and use those. The wire to the gps has a quick disconnect in it should you want to use it on another bike or remove the whole mount from the bike to frustrate thieves, but the power converter is quite far down the wire where it goes to the power supply; so you'd actually have to order more cables for each bike (does anyone even sell them?). I was able to thread the wire through the front end and around the tree and used zip ties to make it all neat (just make sure nothing gets crimped or strained when you move the front end), a little wire wrap (plastic) also helps protect the power wires from engine heat; especially on an air cooled harley. I used a fuse box tap (accessory fuse) so I didn't have to cut into my wiring harness and that also ensures there will only be power when the key is on so you don't run down your battery. (My 2011 sportster has an accessory fuse & harley uses mini fuses not the big ones like older cars use.), You plug the tap into the accessory fuse socket, insert a fuse into the tap and then tie devices into the red wire coming from the tap, the black wire just goes to any ground, probably a convenient ground around the bottom of the seat someplace. My complaint with the wiring that comes with it is that the wiring is darned tiny, almost so tiny that I'd fear for durability and I had a little problem attaching them to the fusebox tap and the ground (kept pulling out of the spade connectors I used they are so small).

The unit works good but you will be replacing the stock mount to use it on your motorcycle right away. Sharkmotorcyleaudio.com sells this gps and you can also find them on ebay, they respond to emails but you don't get a lot of help from there either. They did offer me a mount when I complained about what came with it but I didn't feel it would work, I notice they have a few more mount products now for sale. I have asked them about map updates and was basically told to go look myself. If you ask me they should carry them in the online store. I had my unit about two months and one of the batteries (2 come with it) died and they promptly sent me another new battery no hassles. The batteries appear to be a standard cell phone battery, if you search on the letters/numbers on the battery you find them all over ebay pretty cheap. The battery door on the back uses two screws to secure it, I find it frustrating to take that door on and off, it has to be all lined up just right or the screws won't screw down tight. All the screw spots on this unit have metal sleeves not just plastic so the doors and mounts should be pretty sturdy and not cross thread easily. I have seen one or two references to this unit on forums but still haven't found any instructions for loading new software or maps. I did find a website for the software on the unit but it would appear they only sell the product on memory cards these days and I have my doubts that would work here; haven't written to them yet about it. I think it's a good product other than you'll be spending around thirty bucks to replace the mount and the wiring harness uses some darned tiny wires, and then there are map update issues. In a year or two when the maps are intolerably out of date it looks like you might have a little problem updating the software that comes with it. If you can figure out how it should be possible to put another gps program on here but you'd need to know the hardware specifications to know if it will work and the software has to support touch screen; you can find a lot of information in the settings on the gps including map dates.

This product obviously comes out of china, probably why it's so difficult to get any real support, they sell the hardware and it's someone else's problem to put software on it and support it. It's a product worth the money but at some point you'll be asking for techie help or doing a lot of research to either update the software or the maps.

Note: There are several other brand names for what appears to be the same unit, at least three of which are sold here: Sharkmotorcycle audio SHKGPS2040, Movewell MH-310H, Owat 35MT. Don't seem to be web sites for any of those companies or horsepower either.

This is a great product! However, there was no paperwork included in the shipment. I had no clue as to what the parts were or how to use them. There wasn't even any information about the company or how to contact them. Luckily, Amazon has a link to contact the company. Within days I received an answer from the company and was sent instructions by email. They will not send a printed copy. The instructions are very thorough and explain everything you need to know about the GPS. It doesn't appear that there are any updates available so this could cause problems in the future. It is easy to use and it is a good value for the money.

I bought two of these Gps units for less than the price of one waterproof Garmin. The units came with ample mounting hardware and charging accessories. You can find the manuals on line including the PolyNav navigation software. Works great easy to use. Support is limited but these GPS units work great and ++++easy to program routes and great road map display options. The motorcycle power cord is nice for more or less permanent installation to your bike and leaving the car charger and car mount for quick switchover to car use if desired.

I bought it to use on my motorcycle. The screen is not readable in the sun and the handlebar mount is too small to fit those on my bike. It was shipped without an owner's manual nor even an instruction sheet. Email contact with the manufacturer has not been helpful.

For the price I love this GPS. Only down fall is the glare, you can't see the screen in sunshine. Also the handle bar mount I think its for a bicycle. Had to buy a larger mount to go around my handle bars.

Samsung Vehicle Car Charger for Samsung DROID Charge i510, Samsung Inspiration, Samsung Stealth, Sa

Samsung Vehicle Car Charger for Samsung DROID Charge i510, Samsung Inspiration, Samsung Stealth, Samsung Stealth V, Samsung 4G LTE SmartphoneI am using this charger with the factory Samsung car dock for my Samsung Droid Charge, mounted on the windshield. On a long drive last week, in sunny weather, the Charge overheated and stopped charging. It's internal "IC chip" self-protected OK, but the phone switched to normal mode instead of docked mode. That means all the icons rotate back to portrait mode and the docked software disappeared. Even at night, the phone and charger get very hot while charging.

I have had this product for over a year now and still using it. Will purchase again if I ever need to.

Gomadic Intelligent Compact Car / Auto DC Charger for the Creative Zen Micro - 2A / 10W power at ha

Gomadic Intelligent Compact Car / Auto DC Charger for the Creative Zen Micro - 2A / 10W power at half the size. Uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology
  • Charger provides a full 10W (2,000mAh) of available current in a small form factor a little over 1 inch long. Flexible, straight cable measure 50 inches in total length.
  • Gomadic TipExchange Technology protects your investment by providing a means to change/upgrade your charger by simply swapping the physical charging tip. (Charging tip for Creative Zen Micro) included with additional tips sold separately)
  • Intelligent circuit provides precise output voltage and resistor configuration specific to the Creative Zen Micro. This ensures battery is safely and efficiently charged without affecting battery longevity.
  • Power Sleep"" feature will cut power draw of charger by over 99% when not in use. Charger will draw less than 0.1W of power when in ""ready state"" (e.g. not connected to the Creative Zen Micro).
  • Uses latest state of the art advancements in charging and surge suppression technologies to deliver a unique product in an unbelievably micro-sized form factor.

The product tends to get the job done more or less, but tends to be glitchy, as does the Zen itself. Sometimes when you plug it in or pull it out while the Zen is playing, the zen will freeze or shut off. But overall this product tends to get the job done if you learn how to work it.

Bosch C7 12/24-Volt 6-Mode Battery Charger and Maintainer

Bosch C7 12/24-Volt 6-Mode Battery Charger and MaintainerOkay first of all everything that they advertise this thing does it and does it well. All with a fantastic display to let you know what it's doing. It has safety features involved to prevent those of us who are less automotively inclined from damaging our batteries. It will do a trickle charge and a fast charge and probably make pancakes (just kidding on the pancakes). But do you really need all of this for the price?

I personally don't but I have friends who would really get their money's worth out of this machine. If you have battery issues, or live with someone who can't seem to remember to turn out their lights then this thing will save a lot of time and headaches. If your battery only ever goes dead because it's dead for real then a cheaper charger to get you to a battery store will probably do the trick. Only you know which works in your situation.

I think it's a great product with a lot of great features it's just more than your average person will need.

I only give it 2 stars because I think the price is too high for what you get in comparison to other brands. This charger will do everything they say it will and do it well but please see my followup at the end of this review...it's a major negative!! I have other Bosch equipment and have always been satisfied with their quality. However, why pay over $100 for this when you can buy a "Battery Tender" brand that will do all this for a fraction of that price and is much simpler to operate? The battery clamps do not come attached and the connectors that do come attached are too small to go over the battery posts on most batteries. The Battery Tender (for a lot less money) gives you the choice of clamps or connectors (that are large enough to fit the battery posts) simply by unplugging the ones you don't want and then plugging in what you do want. Yes, this has 6 modes to operate and if you have a need for the other modes such as recharging a severely discharged battery or charging a 24 volt system on your bus then this is probably the one you want. However, if you are just wanting to charge a battery on an occasionally used vehicle and keep it fully charged without fear of overcharging then the other brand will do what you want for a lot less and is smaller and simpler to operate! I also found the instruction manual to be a little weak (at least the English version was).

UPDATE:

I just discovered another MAJOR disadvantage to this charger. I had a power outage today and I discovered that after the power is interrupted this trickle charger does not come back on in the charge mode. In fact, even a minor fluctuation in the power source and this thing goes in to "stand by". You have to be there and press the mode button to start it charging and/or monitoring your battery. This could be a real problem when left on a seldom used battery, such as a car in storage, and just when you thought the battery was being kept at full charge you realize it has not been charging since the last power interruption! The other above mentioned brand does come back on in the charge mode when the power is restored.

This Bosch battery charger is a good one for people who are nervous about electrical chargers, not mechanically inclined or have auto that sits unused for long periods of time, if your willing to pay the steep price.

I've tested and verified the product features for this battery charger/maintainer with good results:

-One touch smart charging with automatic voltage detection for easy operation

* Yes. The charger will detect voltage as soon as you connect the clamps.

-Micro Computer Unit prevents overcharging, overheating, provides reverse polarity protection for user/battery safety

* Yes. As soon as the clamps are connected the battery charger detects whether or not they are connected properly to prevent shorting out any electrical components

-Maintenance/Trickle charging mode automatically switches on when battery is fully charged

* Yes. Great feature if your charging an auto overnight, to prevent overcharging and ruining your battery.

-Regeneration mode to recover a short term deeply discharged battery

* Yes. It took 30 minutes to bring my car (it sits unused but maybe 3 or 4 times a month) to a full charge in regeneration mode.

The display also keeps you informed of the percentage charged, leaving no guess work to the remaining charge capacity. Also the size of this charger is plus, in that it is small, making it very portable and easy to store, compared to a lot of other bulky battery chargers.

It's a nice and handy battery charger overall, with the automation built-in leaving a lot of guess work behind for the user.

Bosch Autoparts has two battery chargers, the C3 and C7. The C3 is for 6V/12V batteries while the C7 is for 12V/24V batteries. Both will work for the usual contemporary 12V car battery. I have several vehicles which see little if any use in the winter, mostly lawn tractors and similar items where batteries tend to die if they're not regularly kept charged. I've used a Battery Tender (a competing product) with very good results. The Battery Tender is not helpful, however, if the battery is already so far gone that maintenance through a trickle charge will not bring it up to spec. That's where the C7 comes in handy. A battery exhausted by being run all the way down (leaving the lights on, for example), can be recharged with the C7. My alternative previously was to use a regular battery charger, then remember to disconnect that after a reasonable period and switch over to the trickle charger to prevent overcharging.

In any case, the Bosch C7 works very well at both maintaining and recharging batteries. The only down side I found is the one noted by another reviewer if the power goes out, the C7 stops charging and awaits further instruction. The Battery Tender, on the other hand, immediately picks up where it left off, without requiring a button to be pushed. This isn't good if you're keeping a car charged in a country home where the power tends to go off intermittently.

The unit works well and has a well designed interface that is intuitive and straightforward.

Want Bosch C7 12/24-Volt 6-Mode Battery Charger and Maintainer Discount?

It is very user friendly, easy to connect and everything is taken care of by this charger and maintainer. It shows exactly where you are in the charging process by a lighted up circle (the further in the process, the more of the circle is lit, and it progressively goes from red to yellow to green).

One thing that I haven't read here is that the cable can be easily disconnected. The part of the cable that attaches to the battery or car charging points can be unplugged from the fuse box that is molded into the charger cable. Another thing: you could permanently mount the charger cable ends to the battery so you can easily once in a while hook it up for a maintenance charge.

I did extensive research in which charger would suit my needs, and this one came on top because of it's rock solid design and, truth to be told, the brand because of its decades of experience in the high end car industry.

I bought this charger for ~$90 right before my car battery was about to die. I guess I was just in time, it is working just the way it should. Almost a 'must have' for when you live in the Midwest (cold winters are hard on batteries).

Yes, I would recommend this product to friends and family.

Wagan 2485 200-Watt Power Dome NX Jump Starter & Emergency Power Source with Built-In Air Compressor

Wagan 2485 200-Watt Power Dome NX Jump Starter & Emergency Power Source with Built-In Air CompressorI purchased this from Amazon on a whim during a lightening sale. My wife was understandably skeptical, as it appeared I had bought an expensive radio/tire pump.

She was readying the car for a long road trip and by accident left the car on. Battery was quite dead. We own a Prius and one of the quirks is that if the car is jumped with too much power it resets the computer and the windows don't work right. We experienced that a few years ago when a friend jumped our car.

The Wagan was fresh out of the box (we had only gotten it the day before). Fully charged and ready to go. I went outside, hooked up the Wagan to the two posts in the fuse box and we started the car. Less than five minutes from learning the car battery was dead to having it run again. That was because I had to go in the house and get the charger...

Suffice to say, the Wagan is kept in the car all the time-even when space is a premium. We know that if we get a flat, the unit can inflate the tire long enough to get to safety.

The flashlight is bright and even though as the other reviewer states the doors are flimsy, but we are not rough with it.

We haven't used it as such but it will power lights for a few hours while car camping.

It can be used for charging any electrical devices or even running a shaver! They thought of everything and if there is any deficiency, it is that there's almost too much to use it for.

We like this mobile power unit and recommend it to anyone owning a vehicle dependent on electricity to start.

Bottom Line:

WE FEEL MUCH SAFER WITH THE WAGAN ALONG!

I read a bunch of reviews before I purchased this product, And was very impressed! however I must have missed that ONE review that spoke about the compressor and the power check button. I used the compressor to inflate my tire on my 300 zx and the Damn thing started smoking!, "like it was about burning out." So me in my infinite wisdom turned it off. I then checked the power by pushing the power button and it broke!, "what the hell", I though. Now I had this this thing for about two months and only used it once. So be very careful and make sure you read all the reviews before you purchase it.

The first one I bought had a short inside so it would never charge all the way and would quickly run out of battery without me doing anything. I replaced this with a new one and everything works fine. The speakers make a weird whirling sound when I play music through them but they are not pro-speakers so what do ya expect. the flashlight is fine and so are the inverters, built in fan keeps the unit from overheating as well. I look forward to using all the features.

I have received 2 separate deliveries of these from Amazon, and both of them did not had all of the functions working.

The whole area with the clock, FM Radio, and plugging in a music device to use the speakers is non-functional. When I got the first

one it was DOA upon arrival. Amazon sent me a second one, and it worked for one day and died after the second day. It seems like there

is a loose plug jack in that section, but there is no way to get to it, so it is worthless. I called Wagman and told them of the

problem. They said there is nothing that they can do about it since you cannot sent back a sealed battery through the mail or a carrier.

Not recommended.
